  1. The multiplayer and mechanics of combat are finely tuned, but aren't enough to lift Halo past its dated single-player, lack of graphical upgrades, and only competent performance. [Dec 2003, p.124]
  2. The control with mouse and keyboard is far superior to the clunky Xbox controller, and Gearbox is already rolling out patches to deal with the framerate issues. As an experience, Halo is something to behold - on the right system, you can pull this game out and slap around your Xbox-owning friends with higher resolutions and better controls. As a game, however, it starts strong and fizzles like a wet firework towards the end.
  3. It’s all so much like the Xbox version, in fact, that you might wonder why the hell you spent money on it a second time.

Co-op mode didn't make the cut. This was one feature that kept the repetitive level design from showing its ugly face - between those great, open terrain stages are lots of boring back-and-forth mazes.

The Same enemies in every stage. The exact same levels throughout the entire game , repeated over and over and over and over and over and over and over. There's this one level , that , holy hell, it was hell to go through, because every area was repeated over and over and over, every room was repeated over and over and over, every monster was repeated over and over and over. The best part of this game was at the start, the ship and then outdoors. After that, it really becomes repetitive, boring and very empty. At a time when there was some pretty amazing games out with lots of variety, Medal Of Honor Allied Assault comes to mind, Quake, DOOM, Call OF Duty 1 was just round the corner, Timesplitters (every level was different in Timesplitters), Even the original Golden Eye was more entertaining than this game. I don't understand the hype at all. The story was ok, but has nothing on Half Life or even Red Faction, for that time period. Full Review »

It is not only fun to play, but the graphics are excellent. Although there is not multiplayer on the xbox version, if you get games on the PC you will have the best multiplayer fun in years.
