Good game, nice graphics, only... it's a litle bit short for it's price. Perhaps, give less attention to the graphic layout (because it's very good now!) and give more attention to make the game longer. Looking forward for episode 3.

Half Life 2 is my favorite game of all time. Episode One was enjoyable, but not on the same scale. Episode Two, however, is pure awesomeness. The story, the characters, the animation, the level theme mix, the music, the controls, everything fits perfectly. It's only a shame it's shorter than HL 2, or it would be a better game.

Marvelous expansion. If Ep1 was 2 times better than HL2, this is surely 3 times better. Tense, dense and brings a full load of emotions and more acknowledge of the characters feelings. 9.5. What holds it back from 10/10 is the old game mechanic.

Episode two has the right amount of story telling, puzzle solving, showing off fantastic graphics, and action packed tactical battle scenarios to create the most fun I've had on a single player FPS since the first Half-Life. It also serves as a fantastic way to draw the player into the story, and makes me want Ep3 to come out just so I can get the rest of the trilogy!

This game deserves a high rating for one simple fact: Innovation There isn't a single new FPS out there, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. aside, that doesn't just follow a standard. Half-Life 2: Episode 2 not only breaks away from other FPS games, but even breaks away from the previous episodes, adding much more interactivity.

It would be a ten if it weren't for the fact that certain things seem ripped off. The "Striders" look like the things from "War of the Worlds", the aliens use humans to build their army, kind of like "Quake". Everything other than that was amazing though.

Achievements, although many of them are unlocked just from beating the game, add some replayability that previous games haven't really had. Sure there is some merit to beating the game on each difficulty, but some of the new achievements really take some work. The quality of the story, the dialogue, the graphics, and overall sense of fun makes me wonder when the old man from Jurassic Park is going to pop in and say 'no expenses spared of course.' It's a really well-polished little game. I wish it were longer but the length leaves me hungry for Episode Three. In the meantime I'll have to get back to sending that gnome into space. Expand

My only complaint with this game is the sound problems I have sometimes whenever one certain sound triggers a bunch of other bytes that were supposed to be played before resulting in a lot of voices talking at the same time. If you wanted new content with EP1 this is the episode you've been waiting for. The end boss battle is one of the most satisfying end sequences in my entire gaming career. It's better than HL2's end boss which was ridiculously easy with the experience gained from playing that game through. The battle is on a new scale from most games and uses a new semi weapon. I call it that because the weapon isn't really a typical weapon, its more like a physics object than a gun but it's fun to use! I would have liked to see more of cache hunting fun in this game with the neat puzzles( like the one hidden in the building that had a van/car crashed into it) that was included with finding some of them. I would pick this one up with Orange Box because not only do you save money getting the new content together but you also get HL2 and HL2 EP1 if you missed them. Expand

It's so much more engaging, clever, and pleasant on the eyes than the previous installments. It's similarity to HL2 and Episode One should not keep you from playing the game as they all run on the Source engine and share similar graphics (Episode 2 having better ones). I question those who saw no improvement in graphics or story line. Were they playing at full capacity? Have they played the originals and seen the improvements? Have they even enjoyed the storyline? The graphics look better and the lighting in places is 'almost real' really hightens the sense of immersion. Up until I played crysis I believed this was about as good as we got with modern FPS games, but it doesn't quite match up to the brilliance in Crysis, except in the plot/story in which it probably surpasses crysis. When it comes to gameplay it's solid and you play through with little thought or worry and just enjoy it for what it is. (Crysis is a different beast where YOU provide the cinematics through your own actions which is on another level of brilliance found in no other shooter). So aside from it's more static, less dynamic nature (compared to Crysis) it's easily as good or better than any of the other top rated FPS games from the last 5 years. Would still like to see more DeusEx style gameplay in a brilliant setting like HL2 but as it is, even in it's somewhat 'short' episode 2 HL2 is still a shining beacon of PC gaming (and now 360 too) and has tonnes of polish and gameplay. The story line of episode II is definitely more developed than episode I. The game play has improved significantly, and the new means of transportation, a rusty muscle car, is very thrilling. Overall the game is a must for half life fans... the only drawlback is the short gameplay.

Besides all of this Half life to episode 2 makes up for every thing with a vicious final battle that requires quite bit of strategic gameplay and and a new enemy that more than offers new gameplay. Episode 2 makes Half-life 2 a must to everyone who likes FPS. The story-telling is simply amazing, the action is overwhelming and the graphics tough little out-of-date are drooling.

Still Half Life (2), but the weakest of the series. Lots of attempts at a story, with a decent script and still the same terrific voice acting. But the gameplay is old, and this was the most boring of the lot. Same old same old. The weapons and characters feel familiar, but there are no new things to entice us. There are the usual types of HL2 firefights, and an incredibly annoying end Still Half Life (2), but the weakest of the series. The weapons and characters feel familiar, but there are no new things to entice us. There are the usual types of HL2 firefights, and an incredibly annoying end "crescendo" battle, thats not really fun, just plain irritating. I've played it through 3 times, thinking that it would grow on me with time, but it hasn't. As a MASSIVE Half Life series fan, I was supremely disappointed with this installment. Episode 1 was pretty thin, but it was nice to be engaged in in the HL story again. This time, it was like a weak movie sequel, just giving us enough to want to come back again to see what happens next. Its too bad actually, that the Valve folks took this route, instead of building us a game that really took us somewhere. Delivering little tidbits like this every year looks good on paper, but the way things are going, we all might forget about this series next time around Expand

Arguably better than Half-Life 2, Episode 2 does not disappoint. It's short, but it's action-packed and tons of fun. It does make a few addition to the Half-Life 2 combat, so it's not just more Half-Life 2. Along with the other Orange Box games, money spent on Half-Life 2 Episode 2 is well spent.

Meh. HL2 was replayable. HL2: episodes 1 and 2 are fun once and then they can go back in the box. Most levels in this game are boring shoot em up and little strategy.

Half life 2 episode 2, is half a game, it is no good bringing out a block buster such as half life 2 and then the excellent episode 1, just to be followed by half games to drag out the story for as long as possible !! The battle with the stalkers would have made a brilliant half way stage and quite frankly I was gutted to have only about 5 minutes after that left and that was it....Robbed, where was the reward for such a battle (another year wait for more half life ?) !! Half a game , Half a score I'm afraid. I played half life 2 and ep1 many , many times over. No need to play ep2 again really, not much to see ! Just decided it earns a 3 not a 5 !! I know I could have got this game by it'self but I'm glad I got the orange box. But this was the main reason I bought the OB and it in no way disappointed me, leaving me desperately wanting ep3. The gameplay is the best yet from hl2 and the graphics have had a nice touch up. For some reason though I didn't feel that i wanted to play through again like I had done with hl2 and ep1.

At the beginning the atmosphere seems to be a bit rusty and frozen. But after a few minutes I realized that this game is awesome! It was wonderful to explore the new terrains and even as it's not really longer than Episode One it feels like double-length to me. The graphics are nice, so are the maps and new enemies. Give it a try and buy the OrangeBox, you will love it!

Episode Two is a great new adventure, full of interesting plot changes. After the somewhat disappointing Episode 1 (great story, but in less then 2 hours I beat it on hard) it makes up to all the promises and more! The game looks plain awesome, even on my 4 year old game pc (I can still run HDR lightning and AA ^_^)!! The new maps are large, and the locations are variated. TOO SHORT!!! It is good as the game play is concerned but it ends before it really starts. When I finished the forest battle I expected it to continue, instead I saw a lame ending. Come on Valve, make the third one last as long as original HL2, you owe your fans at least that much...

I'm not sure what people are talking about with "retreading old ground" and so on. I felt like practically everything I did was fresh and new, with new environments to gaze at and new enemies to battle. Maybe the puzzles aren't as brilliant as usual, but this game is still amazing. The story elements are great too if you've played HL before.

Any way you look at it, Episode Two stands out, even among the Half-Life series, as something special. It may be shorter than the original, but it's a burly experience packed into roughly six hours or so that offers up all the diversity, level design, and thoughtful gameplay we've known while making sure to propel the story forward and leave us wanting more.
  2. More great story blended with improved AI and better firefights. It's starting to retread old ground though.
  3. Episode Two is the most sumptuous chapter of the Half-Life saga, and by a country mile. It's as if Valve's tech and art teams are trying to outdo each other: the Source engine has had a striking technical overhaul that renders textures, materials and curves uncannily well, and the artists clearly relish having a fresh palette to work with.
