GTR Evolution

If you already have GTR 2 and Race '07, there won't be much to compel to you pick up GTR Evolution. If you have neither of those, though, GTR Evolution is a must-have for anyone that has a yearning to race.

GTR Evolution is a fine addition to SimBin’s repertoire of driving sims, offering some great features and unrivaled tracks for fans of authentic racing games.

Race 07 was just a season update for Race, and GTR Evolution continues to same direction. It adds the game some cars and legendary Nordscleife track, but basicly that's all. Everything is quite nice but nothing rises above the minimum level of hardcore racing simulators. Graphics engine looks like 5 years old. Production cars, that should shine brightly, look like plastic cars with plastic shine. In race cars that effect didn't bother, but with production cars graphics engine show its lack of ability to draw realistic lighting effects. Race 07 with GTR Evolution is very good game, but nothing else. Hopefully Simbin starts to do something completely different after these season updates, which have been continuing for too long now. And I hope I don't ever have to copy my review from one year old game anymore. [Sept 2008]

GTR Evolution is a great racing simulator that is very realistic and a great game with all the right features and realism you could ask for. GTR Evolution has tracks made from real world sites and plenty of real cars for an overall well made game.

RACE 07 fans that are craving the ultimate challenge should purchase Evolution if for no other reason then to experience the famous "green hell" of Nrburgring.

Racing-game-specialist Simbin upgrades its Race 07 with some new cars and tracks – that is not much for its price, but the core of the game is still fun to play if you like simulations.

GTR Evolution is a good sim racer that fans should be happy to have. For its $19.99 price tag, you get a lot of content and replayability.

The reason this game and its predecessors perch atop their genre is they make every sweet passing move, crisply negotiated corner and shaved second feel like a podium finish.

In the proper hands, the game can be a breeding ground for racing bliss. GTR Represents racing simulation realism at its absolute best, even if that means it sacrifices accessibility and broader appeal for general gamers.

It steadily grows harder for me to see the positive sides of a SimBin-Simulation. Thus, GT Legends still takes the cake thanks to a motivating career-mode and nifty cars. At the end of the day, it falls to the racing-game fan himself to tell if the purchase of GTR Revolution is justified. [Issue#15]

GTR Evolution feels like the most complete but also last installment in the series. The next one will probably be more like a revolution than an evolution. And with for good reason. Evolution is starting to look a little outdated. Just don't let this stop you from buying this game. GTR Evolution offers you an all-in-one package of cars and tracks in a racer that's almost as good as the real thing.

GTR Evolution is definitely an evolution of the series, as opposed to a revolution, and while the game is in need of a graphical overhaul, the rest of the game is all you could ask from a racing simulation.

Swedish developer SimBin is definitely the top of the crop when it comes to realistic driving simulators and this is no exception. As the name implies GTR Evolution is a evolutionary add on for last year's RACE 07 and what you're treated to here is a wealth of new cars and a new course, but not just any course. Nürburgring Nordschleife is fully modelled and available in the game which alone makes this a great add on for driving fans everywhere.

The spirit of GTR lives on, but the engine needs an overhaul and even the hardcore's patience will eventually wear thin. [Dec 2008, p.98]
