    I enjoyed it, but I was expecting more. I know it's not easy to make better than San Andreas, but I think GTA IV has great action too and it's a great game indeed.

    A good game if you like the GTA theme. Runs ok on a reasonable pc/vga combo, I'm getting playable frame rates on a HD6770 card, with all but one of the settings on high, and the three sliders on 35/50/50 (from the top, down) My console buddies say it looks better & runs smoother than it does on the ps3. I'd imagine it looks stunning with a 2Gb card and some texture/rendering mods. A goodA good game if you like the GTA theme.     Rockstar really impressed me with this. Besides the bugs, the game is awesome. We had a 360 console for everyone and it blew up so then we all had got our own and then must of our owns blew up so now we're playing it on pc. No performance issues or any problems with the difficulty level. I have quite a GTA collection. 10/10 including all GTA games.

    We are in 2020, this is a 2008 game (with the port for PC in 2009), and still is my favorite GTA.

    After playing the game I can simply conclude that the "offical" reviews are just plain bias, written by bribed reviewers who can only give every overrated overhyped game sequel like this a high score no matter what. First of, GTA IV's game world is really fantastic, with every little detail put into the environment and most impressively, the AI pedestrains that populate it. It really sets the benchmark of a true open world game. Problem however, is that there's close to NOTHING, NOTHING to do in the huge city the devs constructed. All you have is a few side missions up to 10 given by friends and cop missions that all can be completed within 1-2 hours. After that, you'll be left in a huge empty world like Mafia II where you have no incentives or reason to go out and explore further. Not the mention 90% of the main missions are nothing of entertainment. Most of them will just have you driving up and down various places far away before some small shootout or something and the end, end of mission. There's really no thrill to it and the driving feels like a waste. It does have new features like taking the trains, bowling, playing pool and watching shows that spice up the experience but all these get repetitive over time. Seems like the devs spent too much time making features like the live shows you can attend or the TV programmes than the actual side missions they could have improved on and added. To sum it up, this is a game with huge potential but with so much wasted on.… Expand

There is tons of content, collectibles, customization and much more in this game to keep you playing for hours. I mean, there has to be a reason that IGN gave this game a 10/10, right? However, you might be mislead by the user score of 6.0 and the almost 500 negative reviews. There are many complains involving the issue of "the world being too small" and people going on this forum, b*tching that their computer can't handle the game and it is impossible to run. I would like to clear up the issues of both these problems. Firstly, if you find the world too small, go back to San Andreas and ride your jetpack, OK? this has to be if not the most then one of the most detailed open world cities that I have ever seen in a video game. Incredible graphics make the city feel much more realistic than any open world game before, and obviously a ton of work was spent on it. If you think you can do a better job, why don't you come down to Rockstar and try making the map yourself. This game is much more mature than any of the other ones, and adds a more realistic feel to it, and in addition, if you can't stand that there are little to no cheats, head down to GTAInside.com and get some mods, there has got to be thousands of them. Also, another complaint is that their computer can't handle it. THIS IS A LIE!!! No, they most likely can't handle max graphics, because imagine a whole city that detailed running in perfect graphics, do you really think that your computer can handle it. Even when you turn your graphics down a bit, the graphics are still awesome. If you are so concerned that your computer can't run GTA 4 on max graphics, then go buy a better computer and stop b*tching about is on these forums, I saw so many complaints on here, I almost didn't buy the game myself! Now, if you are blessed with a PC whose specs can easily handle this game on max, go check out the ICenhancer mod, it will literally blow you away. Overall, I would just like to say that this game is definitively worth checking out, it is one of the most complete games, with the best story, that I have ever played. And even almost 5 years after it's launch, it still remains to be one of my favourite games of all time.… Expand

    I love this series, from GTA 3 to San Andreas. They are simply brilliant. This one is just as great but there are 2 things which are maddening. First, my PC almost died when I started this game, and it was a high-end machine at the time. Second, the last mission is unplayable on PC. This makes it 2 titles in the series which make me abandon the game at the last mission. ExtremelyI love this series, from GTA 3 to San Andreas. They are simply brilliant.     I'm really surprised about the score distribution here.

    I suffered from technical difficulties only in the last mission, where a bug caused me to fail the mission and start over from the beginning of a mission (far behind). Overall the gameplay is fluent enough and the story is really well developed.     Overall the gameplay is fluent enough and the story is really well developed. I highly recommend buying the Episodes from Liberty City DLC as it focuses on the stories of some side characters in the original game and can get the player really invested in the subplots going on in the game world during Niko and Roman's struggles in Liberty City.

    To me the most important aspect in Grand Theft Auto games is the design of characters, missions and the setup. In GTA4 the setup is great, our protagonist Niko Bellic included. Some of the voice acting and dialogue are however really overblown and ridiculously stereotypical, and at times I would have liked for the writers at Rockstar to show a bit more respect for the intelligence of their audience.

    GTA4 does have its share of problems, though. I won't complain about the PC port, as it has worked like a dream for me. There are some flaws in the design and gameplay mechanics as well. For example the relationship/girlfriend aspect of the game really felt like it was slowing the gameplay down and some of the missions should have been cut out as well.

    In addition to this I would have liked more use of the vertical dimension of the city: in a sandbox game it would be good to have the option to easily go to the roof of more buildings, gun people down from tactical locations, skydive etc. (Skydiving was added in the DLC, but it doesn't satisfy my urge to skydive to a meet with gun-dealing Jacob.) Also the ability to make decisions that affect the story could have been utilized more.

    In The Ballad Of Gay Tony story of the DLC a very pleasant feature was added. When dying or otherwise failing a mission, retrying would allow you to continue at the point where the player failed. This should be a norm in GTA games, as it cuts down on the pointless delay of running to buy a body armor, going to a safehouse to regain health and continuing on to your next mission.

    With its minor design flaws, GTA4 is still an amazingly enjoyable game with a really touching and compelling story.    … Expand

    AMAZING JUST AMAZING! I have always loved all the GTA series, I've played every single GTA and this is the best one! Graphics are amazing, only thing is you need lots of vram, i had x2 GTX 460's and i cannot max the game, I'm close to it tho,cant wait for GTA V I'm sure it will be just as amazing. I must say you do need a very good PC to play GTA iv, as it does not support SLI or anythingAMAZING JUST AMAZING!     The major negative is that you really do need a good PC to run this. I do so I really love this game. Good story and great features of gameplay. The graphics are great and there is a massive modding community out there so once you completed it there is huge re-playability.     This game is absolutely amazing. Now i play a lot of video games but whenever i play with friends or am just overall bored i always come back to this game! With its action packed story-line to its amazing multiplayer this game is for anyone wanting a blast and a blast to last forever!

    People who give this a 1-5 have not played the game on PC. The game works with Windows 7, and over and under to a certain point, there is in fact really good graphics that your computer has to handle, in which almost every persons' computer can handle. This is a wonderful game with many perks, all say there are 'bugs' these are easter eggs. Not bugs.

    This game is awesome (like almost every Grand Theft Auto title), but it has two things which can scare PC gamers away Games for Windows Live and SecuROM, not to mention the quality of porting this game can stutter on high-end PCs, but if you don't mind things I mentioned above, you will have a really good time.

    Just finished it on Steam Deck and still fun to play. Fun quirky story, working on deck flawlessly, a lot of modes available... It is rare games holding so well as gta titles.

    Nowadays, this game is great fun. Sure it's still quite the technical drama with the memory leaks and all, but on a decent system it's more than playable. I've been playing it on my system for almost 3 years now. What makes this game really fun is its great modability. There are some gems out there, transforming this game into something I think even Rockstar wouldn't have come up with.
    I use just one mod in this game (since something like ICE only make it extra buggy): Realistic handling damage. This makes for a decent driving experience and jacks up the difficulty (police chases) a lot. Cars simply don't handle like tanks anymore. Once you crash, you're done!

    Some things Rockstar did a very good (not great) job at:
    - Integrating Euphoria
    - Traffic simulator
    - Interesting enough & lengthy campaign (not minding our protagonist is just an overgrown delivery boy)

    They flunked at the port, but everybody knows that by now. As I said, it's very well playable when you know your hardware (see EyjoK.'s review) and install the proper mod(s).    … Expand

    Grand Theft Auto IV was an amazing culmination of graphics and story and of course our favorite reason to play GTA, the ability to walk up to anyone and....... kill them. But what stood out to me the most was GTA IV Story. He is a big step up from GTA III's protagonist who's name isn't even mentioned in game and he doesn't even talk. So the compelling story and the amazing, borderline lag your computer graphics is why I think this game is so great.… Expand

    The game has an bad optimization on PC version that you'll need an high-end graphic card to play it on low-medium settings

    best game ever . all gta games are the best series . i played those games 2 or 3 times over with all DLC, and I still can play them again and again, because the story in those games is so great . waiting for GTA V PC !!!

    Nice game, but not good enough to be considered the best chapter of GTA saga.
    In comparison to GTA San Andreas does not have that atmosphere that I remember very well so far.
    The city is small and gray. Of course, it's New York, but I remember better the Liberty City of GTA III.
    Another defect is the bad optimization on PC.

    Well this game contains the "best" storyline I have seen so far. The constant twists in the plot make it very enjoyable. Unfortunately other than the good storyline it can feel occasionally annoying to be constantly doing missions over and over. It is near absolute must that you do not buy this game on Steam as this game may fail to start up and a very big bug on the last mission. The major bug prevents the completion of the game on the PC which can be fixed by FRAPS. The graphics aren't the best but are "good" for a game made in 2008. Overall it is a good game with an occasional bug or two a repetitive mission system which can be good or bad depending on if you like missions and the lack of good cheats or anything fun to do after finishing. Although there is a modding community if you wish to change some aspects of the game.… Expand

    I tried a long time ago to end this game, but somehow , i lost my interest and i get bored. Now , finally i end this game but i changed my opininon. Somehow , story isn't good, for me. I get bored and.. i think was not good. Missions are 50/50. Some missions are very boring and no sense. Otherwise are good, verry good. The Graphics are good, not the best but is ok. Sounds and songs on theI tried a long time ago to end this game, but somehow , i lost my interest and i get bored. Now , finally i end this game but i changed my opininon.     I love it. Legendary. Wow amazing game. 10/10. This is the best open world game franchise and this time it outdid itself. NB is now a legend because of this game. Stunning visuals, breathtaking cut scenes, awesome gameplay and the biggest map ever. The city of New York comes alive in this game like nothing I've ever seen. A work of art. Rockstar rocking.

Niko is an amazing anti hero protagonist and whole story is done superbly, much much much better than GTA V's in my opinion.     This is arguably the best GTA game story wise. I've never seen a story this good and connected to the character in any GTA game. Driving is bit challenging but in a fun way. The side characters are amazing just like in all other GTA games. The Episodes from Liberty City are also very good. A must play.

    It's definately a masterpiece, but sadly not that well optimized for the PC, that's the only reason, I'm only giving it a 9... However it's somehow understandable, because light and shadow FX were uniquely awesome at the time!

    Aufgabe ist es, ein Programm namens "GTA4" auf einem Laptop mit Nvidia-Grafikarte und Windows 8 (oder 10) zum Laufen zu bringen.     Aufgabe ist es, ein Programm namens "GTA4" auf einem Laptop mit Nvidia-Grafikarte und Windows 8 (oder 10) zum Laufen zu bringen. Dafür hat der Spieler eine Unmenge an Aufgaben zu lösen, angefangen beim Erstellen diverser Accounts, teils bei obskuren, mittlerweile nicht mehr unterstützten Diensten, dem Installieren diverser zusätzlicher Windows-Komponenten, umfangreiche Einstellungen für die Launch-Exe (Stichworte wären etwa Administratorenrechte und Kompatibilitätsmodi) und vieles mehr! Die Rätsel, die der Spieler lösen muss, sind vielfältig, komplex und kreativ. So wird bspw. der Produktschlüssel, den man mehrmals immer wieder an diversen Stellen eingeben muss (zum Beispiel, um speichern zu können!) nicht akzeptiert, dann wird die Grafikkarte nicht erkannt, der Ladebildschirm hängt ewig und so weiter und so fort ...
    Und selbst, wenn man meint, es geschafft zu haben und sich endlich mit dem Programm "GTA4" beschäftigen kann, kommen wie aus dem Nichts neue Aufgaben, wie das plötzliche zufallsgenerierte Einfrieren des Programms, das als Bonus gleich die Benutzung des ganzen Betriebssystems verunmöglicht. Toll!
    Besonders positiv hervorheben möchte ich, dass Cheaten (vulgo: "Support") nicht möglich ist und der Spieler alle Lösungen eigenständig anhand seiner Computerkenntnisse oder Recherchefähigkeiten in den Weiten des Internets finden muss!

    Spielspaß für Stunden ist somit garantiert, in denen der Spieler, quasi nebenbei, fast die gesamte Bandbreite der menschlichen Gefühlswelt drchlaufen wird. Angefangen von Vorfreude, über Verwunderung, Ärger, Frust, dann wieder Hoffnung, Euphorie, Stolz, abgelöst wieder von Verzweiflung bis hin zu purem Hass ist alles dabei.     El mundo se siente más vivo que en ningún GTA, los personajes dejan de ser NPCS y son personas que quieren quedar contigo para comer, ver cosas o jugar mientras te hablan de como se sienten como están o como les va la vida, mantienes una relación con aquellas personas que conoces, puedes quedar con ellas, pedirles favores o consejo mientras haces una misión.

    Es absurdo la cantidad de opciones que tienes en el juego para hacer cosas o interactuar con personajes, simplemente con decirte que cada misión tiene 2 conversaciones distintas mientras vas de punto A y B, de modo que si se da el caso de que mueres y tienes que repetirla no vuelves a escuchar la misma conversación otra vez. Y esto se aplica a absolutamente todo lo cual es una locura, pero hace que se sienta natural y vivo, lo cual es muy difícil de hacer en un juego de esta escala.

    Es cierto que en la conducción tal vez intentaron hacerla "demasiado realista" haciendo que muchos vehículos sean muy jodidos de llevar cuando en otras entregas eran fáciles y divertidos, pero no encontraras nada que no te puedas acostumbrar.

    Uno de los mejores GTA´s que hay ahora mismo, aunque se entiende que a mucha gente que solo quería hacer el cabra no le guste.    … Expand

    This is magnificent. It's just getting bigger, better and longer every single time. GTA III was bigger and better than GTA II and now this. Rockstar Games knows how to satisfy us, they'll never disappoint us. The problem is that the rating-system can go no higher than 10. So a HUGE one from me.

He is included with a story with highs and lows, often awfully predictable, sometimes quite interesting. If you meet a huge number of different characters, I must admit that they don't evolve much, unlike you who keep climbing the social ladder. The map is huge but you can only get to some parts by playing a lot and it unlocks very slowly. Controls are a bit stiff and Niko is sometimes hard to manipulate. As in each and every GTA game, characters are overly-stereotyped and way too often reduced to their visual appearance. The major flaw of this game is surely its launcher and all the traps and bugs that Rockstar is responsible for, including the overall quality of the PC portage.

    However, online mode is fantastic. The fact that you can take random objects in the streets and throw them away is amazing (too bad they erased this ability in GTA V). Phyiscs are great, the death scenes are fun to watch. Driving in the whole state is fun. The world around you is truly living and reacts to your actions, even if AI is not always at its best. Story is really long and forces you to explore different places and activities (even if missions become honestly repetitive at the end).     This is probably a good game. I don't know why there are so many negative reviews. So all the negative reviews are from 2008-2009, yes I can understand that this is a heavy game and at that time not many had an excellent PC, that's why they are not satisfied with this game.

    Aside from being poorly ported to PC, this is a timeless game that will always be fun. Add the robust modding community on top of that and it will keep you busy for a long time.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'd say that GTA IV truly has the best story of all GTA games. Yes, even GTA SA. Let's be fair here, GTA SA's story is great but it is far from a masterpiece,in fact oftentimes CJ pulls off insane stunts which make the entire game feel kind of pointless sometimes, like if CJ can literally enter the most secure place on planet Earth (Area 69) and massacre a bunch of soldiers, steal a $60 000 000 jetpack and literally GET AWAY with it, and can quite literally break the laws of physics during the mission "Freefall" (hijacking a plane MID AIR is pretty much impossible, especially in the **** way CJ does it), what's stopping him from just killing Pulaski and Tenpenny when he meets them? True, Tenpenny did warn CJ not to harm them or else Sweet would die, but Toreno tells CJ that Sweet is "In prison up state, D wing, cell 13", so why doesn't he just break his brother out of jail? Etc. etc., there are plenty of more errors and plot holes that make the entire story of GTA SA kinda overrated.

    Woah, enough of ranting about GTA SA, let's get back to GTA 4. GTA 4 has an amazing story; Niko Bellic (Niko Belić in serbian) is an illegal immigrant trying to escape his unfortunate dark past and seek the american dream alongside his cousin Roman, only to find out that the american dream is a lie and that he, as a criminal can never just "walk off into the sunset" and just quit the criminal game because he wants to. The story is crafted masterfully, and when taking the other two GTA 4 games (TLaD and TBoGT) these three games make up one giant masterpiece of a story, trully Rockstar's magnum opus in GTA storytelling. The music is also well done, the physics are literally better than GTA 5 (most of that can be observed through minor details, such as the apparent absence of torque physics in GTA 5 during certain situations), the gameplay, especially the shooting mechanics are a step forward from GTA SA, however that being said, the game itself doesn't have much going on in it except for the story, and most of the missions of the game follow the following formula:
    1. Niko meets his mission boss
    2. His mission boss tells him that some random character has wronged him somehow
    3. Niko finds out where said random character lives through various methods, though most times he is simply told that by the mission boss.
    4. Niko goes to the place.
    5. A shootout ensues, where Niko kills the target.
    6. Repeat.
    This formula makes up, I'd say, 90% of all GTA 4's missions, maybe even more. Though despite that, most of those missions are fun just because of the simply fun combat mechanics in the game and the utilization of physics. Still, despite that, it seems that in order to be more gritty and realistic than GTA SA, GTA IV had to sacrifice much of the fun that you would have by playing GTA SA. Taking all of that into consideration, I give GTA 4 a 9/10 rating, and I consider it the best GTA game to date.    … Expand

Мне также очень понравилось то, как они раскрыли персонажей. Вы можете перекусить, бухнуть, поиграть в бильярд, боулинг, дартс. И сделано это очень качественно; Вы узнаёте много нового о персонаже, и Вам на его дальнейшую судьбу будет далеко не насрать. Плюс у каждого свои история, переживания и взгляды на мир, что позволяет Нико раскрываться и самому. Пусть он и не очень приятен внешне, но по ходу повествования им очень сильно проникаешься и понимаешь, что играешь не просто за трёхмерную модельку, а за настоящего персонажа.
    Сам Либерти-Сити (прототипом которого является Нью-Йорк) очень впечатляет. Лично мне безумно нравится его архитектурное величие и тяжесть. А когда начинают идти дожди, вообще диву даешься, насколько может запасть в душу видеоигра. На этом и выстроился мой личный симбиоз к GTA IV. Я по-настоящему полюбил эту игру, этих персонажей, эту атмосферу, музыку, ливни. Игра стала мне очень родной. Конечно, я могу понять альтернативные взгляды, мол игра слишком серая, унылая, в ней мало того, что кто-то раньше полюбил; я это понимаю, но не соглашаюсь.     Это первая гта, в которой наконец то появилась физика, которая уделывает 5 ую часть даже спустя 11 лет. Про сюжет вообще молчу, он крут. Все по взрослому . 10/10

    Só não tem como dar nota 10 pq a otimização desse GTA é totalmente falha, o que pode prejudicar muito a gameplay de quem joga.

    As a kid I never really liked GTA too much. I used to consider it a "dirty" franchise, which is a term I used for things that you'd expect your elder brother to like when you were kids. It didn't have too much colour, there are no colourful characters, there is no comedic storyline and so on. Turns out I had been thinking this way about GTA because of this very game. So after I finished GTA V last year before the pandemic started, I decided to give this game a try. I started playing this game before the pandemic, and finished it after it. Turns out this is now my favourite game in the franchise.
    I don't know why, but I think there's something about East Europeans that they can never be taken casually. And this game is something that has expanded over that. GTA IV is the only serious, grounded game in the entire GTA franchise that actually follows a grim, dark storyline of Niko Bellic, a Serbian man who has come to America to start his new life. He has nothing left back in his country other than sad memories, but in America he has the thing he needs the most in life, a new, positive hope, something his cousin Roman is giving him. But it turns out Roman had been lying to him the whole time.
    Niko saves Roman from the Russian mob he had set them upon, gets a girlfriend, meets many new friends and tries to get over his past and start life with a fresh page, except the Russian mob, the FIB and even Roman himself just won't let him be in peace. And this is the reason why this game is so good. Unlike V, San Andreas or Vice City, this one makes the plot so powerful it makes you feel both happy and sad at the same time. In every serious scene there is a subtle humour that will take away the grim tone that it gives without making the jokes look forced. The bank robbing scene, Niko killing Vlad, Niko telling his story to Roman while he dozes off - there are plenty of such scenes.
    Another thing that makes this game so metal is the tone. The colour palette looks very, very bleak in spite of not actually being so. Although I think this is because the Rockstar games made back then used to look like this (since Bully also has the same colour palette), it really suits this game's tone. The cars are also very realistic. In GTA V, every car has a very luxurious interior. Even the dump trucks have digital screens. Tell me, does such a thing happen in real life? Do cars actually look anything even close to being that good? No, right? This is what I like about this game. The cars look very filthy from the inside, just like how they are in real life.
    Speaking of cars, this game surely has a bad mechanic for driving. Personally this is the only complaint I have with this game. Steering a car feels like steering a boat. It gets even worse when it comes to driving a truck or a bus. The weapon combat, however, completely makes us for that. This is probably the only GTA game to have an even combat. In GTA V the combat is more biased in the player's favour while in GTA San Andreas the combat is more biased in the opponent's favour (depending on who the opponent is). The weapon usage is also much better in comparison to the previous games, and this was made even better in GTA V.
    Another thing I really like about this game is the music. The menu music of this game is probably the best one in existence. The loading screen also really looks like it means business, with all the characters appearing on the screen with Soviet Connection playing in the background really gives a bossy feeling to it. While driving the car I always switched to Vlodovstok to listen to Eins Zwei Drei Schicke Schicke Schweine. It was my favourite song in the whole game (do give it a listen on YouTube, it's amazing).
    GTA IV is, in simpler words, metal. It's metal from start to end, irrespective of what choices you make. It's really surprising it does not have the same reputation as GTA V or San Andreas, even though this is the highest rated game in the franchise.     Apprezzo l'aggiornamento fatto in passato dalla Rockstar per la complete edition su steam, però sono già passati un paio di anni e invece di moddarlo preferirei che riaggiungessero alcune musiche delle radio che hanno levato e se fixassero qualche bug o ottimizzare la compatibilità con i nuovi sistemi operativi
    Comunque in fin dei conti è sempre un bel gioco

    Graphics: Best for 2008(excluding crysis)
    Storyline: Introduces choices for users. Eventhough the choices are limited it is the first GTA game to do that. Game physics: Pretty realistic. Even the recent GTA V is no match to this in terms of game physics. It has proper torque for car doors(shooting bullets at a different distance will give different results unlike GTA V)    Great game.

    Küçükken gta'yı çok severdim. Bir yaz boyunca Vice City'de suç yapıp polisi peşime takarak şehri tavaf ettim. Ama hem geçen yılki gta 5 ve şimdiki 4 deneyimim bana keyif vermedi. Ana hikayeler fena değil ama yukarıda bahsettiğim araba sürme simülasyonu durumu canımı sıkıyor. Zaten gta tam olarak görevden göreve koşularak oynanacak bir oyun değil. Açık dünyada gezersin, bir şeyler yaparsın, arada göreve gidersin. Küçükken ben de öyle oynuyordum ama hayatımın şu döneminde, işin gücün arasında, gta'yı keyfe keder oynayacak vaktim yok.

    Neyse gta 4 ile gta serisini (ilk 2 oyunu saymazsak) tamamlamış oldum. Bence serinin kendini en ciddiye alan, en ayakları yere sağlam basan oyunu. Ama o gri görüntüsü ve basık atmosferi insanı bunaltıyor. Ana karakterimiz ve aksanını sevdim. oyunun fiziği, üzerinden neredeyse 15 yıl geçmesine rağmen hala taş gibi. Grafikler, özellikle suratlar epey eskimiş tabii. Bunlar dışında klasik gta işte, ne diyeyim.    … Expand

    The best game from gta universum. The best story and variety of exercise when you end a story mode. Two super dlc's with the best character's. Luis, Niko and Johnny are very well writing by rockstar plus innowation aiming system makes the best gta game.

    Everyone says that it has the best plot in the GTA franchise... but i don't think so. The story is a bit bland, and IMHO does not achieve what it seeks or make you care for any character. But hey, it's a GTA and that means quality. And an impressive city and amount of side content.

    GTA IV is the second GTA game I’ve played, The first being the latest game, GTA V. I loved that game. It was a ton of fun and I still play it a lot to this day. And GTA IV is pretty close to matching it. The story is very good. It is a lot darker than 5, but the missions (except for the last one) are a lot of fun. It is a little easy to get confused due to the massive amount of characters, however. Sometimes, you are asked to kill someone, and their death will have consequences and it’s hard to remember exactly who they are because there are a lot of missions like that in this game. A quick google search or mission walkthrough thankfully solves that issue. My favorite part of the game was all of the characters. They are all memorable, and I really enjoyed Niko Bellic, the protagonist. The story relies on the characters a lot and it succeeds in that department in flying colors. The gameplay is decent as well. I had heard that the driving was bad, but it was manageable. It’s more realistic I guess but I only had issues with the braking. It took forever for most of the cars to stop. However, the helicopters and especially the bikes had bad controls and I disliked the chase scenes involving them. My biggest issue with this game is the lack of checkpoints. If you fail a mission at any point, you have to do the whole thing again and it is extremely frustrating, especially in the last mission. You would have to do the very long driving sections again as well and they get really long as the game goes along. Sometimes, the game lets you do missions in your own way, which I thought was creative, but sometimes it gets really cheap and makes your target invincible just so you can get to a certain area. I don’t mind linear games, but I kinda wish it was more consistent. The game has a great theme song, although I wanted a full score like 5 had. The graphics and sound design hold up pretty well and to this day. Finally, I played this game on PC. Don’t. It is one of the worst PC ports of all time. I played the 2020 rerelease (the complete edition) and it didn’t fix any problems as far as I’m aware. The game runs poorly even on top end hardware and there are a lot of bugs. The controls are very clunky and can cause you to go to something far away instead of the thing you want to go to which is right in front of you. Combat is fun, but the cover system is pretty bad. There are also 2 huge bugs that completely break the game. One of them causes the game to softlock and get you stuck in a garage unless you skip a cutscene. The other one is in the last mission and you have to lower your framerate through task manager to beat the game. It’s impossible to beat at 60 FPS+ if you don’t do that. Overall, GTA IV is a fantastic game that I enjoyed playing. It has a great story, memorable characters, decent gameplay, and some bad technical issues. Play the game on console if you can. The physics are still better than any non-Rockstar made game despite being a decade old, the euphoria physics are still extremely fun and crazy, and the driving is the best and most complex of any GTA game to date.     It was PC burner. I like that slovan climate that main characted represented. I appreciate that rockstar decided to make a game with that climate

    Very bad port of a phenomenal game,i love the story and the gameplay aswell. The driving however is pretty annoying and the game also isnt very direct and can leave you without an idea of what to do.

    To me, this game is the best Gta game. Story, Physics engine, Characters, Graphics, etc. An excellent game.

    My favourite part of the series - no doubt! Great story and the best physics I saw in action games. Driving cars, bikes, flying and hiting people as Niko never gets old, even in 2022!
