    The main story of the game talks about a man named Niko Bellic. A Siberian is a former military soldier who fought during the Yugoslav Wars. Like Niko said he killed, smuggled, and sold a lot of people. During the war, Niko's unit of 15 men was killed and the 3 of them survived that is Niko, Florian, and Darko. You have to start something small before you do something big. The story in the game was very emotional and depressing making the story very interestingly deep to learn about more of Niko Bellic. Some of the characters in the game have special abilities. My favorite is Dwanye's Backup. Including datable characters like Carmen's Health Boost, Kiki's Remove Wanted Level, and Alexandra's Store Discount Also, non-hangout-able characters like Francis McReary's remove wanted level just like Kiki'sThe weapon choices in the game were a little small. Not enough variety though but still the weapons are still very useful. Some of my favorites is the carbine rifle, rocket Launcher, and combat shotgun. You can even buy outfits in the game like the Russian Shop, Modo, and Perseus. This game also features using a computer. It feels ironic that I am using a computer in my computer to connect the GTA version of it. And hang-out spots in case there is nothing to do like, bowling, darts, strip club, eating, drinking, pool, and of course non hang-out spots like the arcade. The best part is that not just you can have 3 safe houses but 4 safe houses in one game. I only that I could have 3 safe houses because I only played the City Story Games on the PSP. As for Chinatown Wars, I will review that later. The game did not have planes like GTA 3, but I will still let it slide. This is one of the games that I would definitely recommend for people who want to play this game like the good old days or want to know what is going on and what they missed before GTA V.

    This game have some optimization problems and you may need a decent system. All performance issues at the side the game is actually very well written. Filled with character and a dark vibe the story is very well made. Gameplay can be a bit clunky but overall it's immersive and you never feel alone in this lively city.

    Oyun harika ama bazı ufak tefek boktanlıkları var. Mesela NPC'ler. Genel olarak çok reziller gerek yaya gerek araç kullanırken ne yapacaklarını kestiremiyorsunuz. Yolda hız limitlerini zorlarken bir anda önünüze kırabiliyorlar Niko uçup gidiyor falan. Onun dışında mükemmel her yanıyla, alıp oynayın pişman olursanız gelin götümü sikin.

    The introduction, with its brooding, glowing Liberty City and epic OST, still gets my heart racing. On the downside, the missions are a bit cliched.

    My favorite game of the series. It has the best story. Negative opinions about the game are usually due to optimization, but if you have a computer that will have difficulty playing a game released in 2008, it is probably not for you to play games. This may have been a problem for the time it came out, but not for today.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. GTA IV. Отличная, но противоречивая игра. Полноценное продолжение, вышедшее через 4 года после GTA: SA. На сей раз под нашим управлением оказывается Нико Беллик, эмигрант из Восточной (скорее, Южной) Европы, прибывший в Америку за "американской мечтой". Вспоминается фото сценариев этой игры и GTA III. К сожалению, здесь слишком обширный и затянутый сюжет, и его невозможно описать, не задев впечатлений от остальных аспектов, поэтому сделаю описание одним предложением. Нико Беллик эмигрирует из Европы в Америку, здесь он встречает различных представителей мафии и работает на них, а также на своих друзей, просто заказчиков и копов, попутно он ищет предателя времен войны, находит его, отпускает либо убивает, затем срабатывается или убивает человека, который его подставил, после чего на свадьбе двоюродного брата гибнет сам брат или девушка Нико, и тот мстит за одного из них. Это в целом весь сюжет. Перейду к остальным составляющим игры, гораздо лучшим. Вся игра состоит из деталей! Физика всего, что есть, графика, прорывная для серии GTA уж точно, социально-ролевой элемент общения со всеми персонажами делают эту игру невероятно оригинальной! Телефон, получаемый в начале и присутствующий до самого конца, обрастает контактами, встречами, можно звонить по отдельным номерам и вызывать такси, делать фото и отправлять MMS, а также получать их и SMS, распознавать музыку. Электронная почта и интернет - не менее важная часть жизни персонажа, здесь мы получаем спам, деловые письма, личные, читаем новости (о своих же похождениях!), сидим на сайтах знакомств, покупаем рингтоны... Бои прекрасны: вид из-за плеча, Euphoria позволяет наблюдать гиперреалистичное поведение тел от любого действия, также обширен арсенал и, опять же, физика дает простор экспериментам. Машины повреждаются, можно сказать, лучше, чем в реальности, так впечатляет, когда едешь на вогнутом со всех сторон ведре, которое встает и не включается, даже радио затухает. А собственно поездки реализованы детально вплоть до меняющегося поведения шин в зависимости от погоды, не говоря об уязвимости самих шин, стекла, дисков. Другие виды транспорта просто неплохо собраны. Музыка хороша лично для меня на двух радиостанциях: Broker и известной Vladivostok FM, но все остальное также часть неплохого саундтрека. И, конечно, гениальная заглавная тема игры, написанная Майклом Хантером, долго не выйдет у меня из головы. Минусы игры в плохой оптимизации и растянутом сюжете, идея которого в том, чтобы просто "убивать за деньги", причем, почти во всех миссиях - и это неясное решение.     This part is special because the phone first appeared here and the plot became non-linear. And very nicely done Liberty City. Graphics, character animations and car physics have improved a lot. Also relationships with friends, for which you can get good bonuses.
    But what is disappointing, although the city is beautifully done, the area of the city is much smaller than it was in SAN ANDREAS. Although SAN ANDREAS came out earlier, so the technology could allow the open world to be expanded, but not reduced.
    The plot is very dark. Since the plot is non-linear, there are very moral choices here. But still, in the final, I consider one of the endings to be far from canonical and it definitely does not fit into the dark and moral game.
    Some characters are almost not revealed and I cannot sympathize with them.
    I liked the main character. His character, values and charisma are well shown.
    And it is very unusual after bright past parts to start playing this depressing game.
    The plot really breathes reality. But I think it's too long. The game could be speeded up a lot, but there are still many new characters and many new missions from them.
    And let's not forget what state the PC version of the game was in at the time of release. Terrible optimization and lots of bugs.
    But I am glad that many patches have been released over the years and the game is now playable.

    Great game, great story. Nico is one of the most relatable GTA characters to this game.

    The PC port is an absolute shame though. Even on modern hardware the game runs worse than GTA V, with some absolutely devestating framedrops especially in the night. I would definitely recommend playing it though.

    Technically, the PC version has some problems, but it's nothing that you can't play with. Story is deep and dark. Niko as a character goes through a lot and you understand his doubts about himself.

    It's definately a masterpiece, but sadly not that well optimized for the PC, that's the only reason, I'm only giving it a 9... However it's somehow understandable, because light and shadow FX were uniquely awesome at the time!

    Just finished it on Steam Deck and still fun to play. Fun quirky story, working on deck flawlessly, a lot of modes available... It is rare games holding so well as gta titles.

I would like to see the old dark scary weather in gta 6, the main character niko was really us, he was a player for his dreams, we go to the americas, we would not see the america in our dreams, we would be surprised by the crazy people around us like niko, this helps niko and the player empathize with the player

    Maybe my favorite GTA game, though I have not played many but plan to soon. Nico is an interesting character and the way characters act and the voice acting is really realistic. The city looks really good and the atmosphere is really nice. I also found the main story interesting and I was super excited to learn more as I progressed throughout the story.

    Great game, amazing story, but I cannot give it a 10 because of the quality of the port. Without downloading third party bug fixes it can be broken and the overall optimization makes it hard to run on the highest settings on modern PCs, let alone PCs of the time.

    Everyone says that it has the best plot in the GTA franchise... but i don't think so. The story is a bit bland, and IMHO does not achieve what it seeks or make you care for any character. But hey, it's a GTA and that means quality. And an impressive city and amount of side content.

    This is arguably the best GTA game story wise. I've never seen a story this good and connected to the character in any GTA game. Driving is bit challenging but in a fun way. The side characters are amazing just like in all other GTA games. The Episodes from Liberty City are also very good. A must play.

Aslında taa ana oyunda bile sıkılmaya başlamıştım. 2 dakikalık görev için 10 dakika boyunca şehrin bir ucundan diğer ucuna araba sürüp durmanın keyifli bir yanı yok. Üstelik bunu neredeyse 100 defa yapınca, bir yerden sonra işkenceye dönüşüyor.Ana oyunu ve Lost and damned dlc'sini 33 saatte bitirdim ama gay tony dlc'sine geldiğimde o kadar sıkılmıştım ki daha fazla dayanamayıp bıraktım.     Küçükken gta'yı çok severdim. Bir yaz boyunca Vice City'de suç yapıp polisi peşime takarak şehri tavaf ettim. Ama hem geçen yılki gta 5 ve şimdiki 4 deneyimim bana keyif vermedi. Ana hikayeler fena değil ama yukarıda bahsettiğim araba sürme simülasyonu durumu canımı sıkıyor. Zaten gta tam olarak görevden göreve koşularak oynanacak bir oyun değil. Açık dünyada gezersin, bir şeyler yaparsın, arada göreve gidersin. Küçükken ben de öyle oynuyordum ama hayatımın şu döneminde, işin gücün arasında, gta'yı keyfe keder oynayacak vaktim yok.

    Neyse gta 4 ile gta serisini (ilk 2 oyunu saymazsak) tamamlamış oldum. Bence serinin kendini en ciddiye alan, en ayakları yere sağlam basan oyunu. Ama o gri görüntüsü ve basık atmosferi insanı bunaltıyor. Ana karakterimiz ve aksanını sevdim. oyunun fiziği, üzerinden neredeyse 15 yıl geçmesine rağmen hala taş gibi. Grafikler, özellikle suratlar epey eskimiş tabii. Bunlar dışında klasik gta işte, ne diyeyim.    … Expand

    In my opinion I believe this is better than GTA V.

    Just add on your desired mods and whatnot and you can surely imitate GTA V and make GTA IV a much better game, since the control scheme is better in this game.

    Я приблизительно осознаю, почему у четвёртой части всё так плохо с пользовательскими оценками на ПК, но не понимаю, почему всё так плохо на ПС и Хбоксе. Версии для ПК я не могу поставить достойную десятку, как для игры с невероятно прорывной графикой для своего года, интересным геймплеем и его фишками, мрачной и серой атмосферой Нью Йорка, интересными персонажами (как это обычно бывает уЯ приблизительно осознаю, почему у четвёртой части всё так плохо с пользовательскими оценками на ПК, но не понимаю, почему всё так плохо на ПС и Хбоксе. Версии для ПК я не могу поставить достойную десятку, как для игры с невероятно прорывной графикой для своего года, интересным геймплеем и его фишками, мрачной и серой атмосферой Нью Йорка, интересными персонажами (как это обычно бывает у Рокстар, только ключевыми) и невероятно классной проработкой и техническим составляющем, которая по сей день может достойно конкурировать с современными играми, а если брать в пример игры EA и Юбисофт - вообще быть на верху спустя 10 лет. Как обычно, порты для ПК у Роков смехотворные, имеют баги, недоработки, фризы и проседы ФПС, но всё остальное просто на уровне.

    When comes about the most serious plot in games — GTA IV probably could be that one. Don't get me wrong, it is still that good old GTA game, but just wrapped up in a more strong wrapper.

    So close to be 10. I love GTA IV, it has great content, nice graphics and story of course.

    The reason I gave this a score of 8, is because it lacks optimisation to PC port, but putting this aside the game is an "unpolished diamond".

    I heard rumors, that Rockstar's gonna make a Definitive Edition just like they did with San Andreas, hopefully these rumors are true.

    Very bad port of a phenomenal game,i love the story and the gameplay aswell. The driving however is pretty annoying and the game also isnt very direct and can leave you without an idea of what to do.

    GTA IV is my favorite sandbox from the entire GTA series. I noticed that there are countless interesting things in it. For example, shootouts in Cluckin Bell, sliding on a chair from Colony island, running from prisoners in jail and even more. The Undying classic.

But good news is that you don't need to max out either of these, because game looks already perfect when you set all these settings to 50%. Everything after 50% is very minor and not necessary, but takes away huge amount of fps, so it's not worth it and with 50% it will already look miles better than Console versions. So for conclusion, yes, this is the best looking version of that game.

    Now, to run it in 4K, High Settings, you need minimum "RTX 2060" or "RX 6600 XT" for graphics card, For CPU Ryzen 3600 or I7 7700.

    Now let's make one thing clear, this game was extremely ahead of time. More than any game ever. "Resident Evil 4" (2005) was revolutionary in it's own ways and is still amazing game, no doubt, but what GTA 4 did, changed open world games forever.

    Let's start with physics. You wont find this good physics from any open world game. None. Keep in mind this was 2008.

    New York truly feels alive, more alive than modern open world games like Just Cause 3/4 or Cyberpunk 2077. Whole city is extremely detailed, especially by 2008 standards and all of that looks absolutely phenomenal, if you play this game in 4K.

    You can go inside hospitals (fully detailed), inside apartment buildings, inside police station, abanoned places, etc. There's so much to explore and find in this incredibly crafter open world. Every inch of that map shows how much passion and talent was put into making this incredible game.

    Story is fun, long and rich, full of loads of memorable characters, missions and locations.

    This is best video game Rockstar has ever made. Level of detail, atmosphere and mission design is absolutely insane by 2008 standards and even in 2022 it has more depth than most open world games.

Also, the two other companion games (The Lost and the Damned / Ballad of Gay Tony) are great as well. All three games actually work together to tell a full story. I used an excel spreadsheet and was able to play all three games at once as if it was one complete story. ThatThis is the game that got me back into gaming.     This is a great game, dark and deep story, solid gameplay mechanics, great replayability. I would give this game a 9 or 10 even. But the crappy ass rockstar launcher ruins most of the experience.

    Story is so interactive and characters are really good too. Guns feel a little off but still fun.
    Main grind for me is that driving is really boring and the player is punished way too much for dying. But still a great game to play even today.

    GTA IV has a darker tone than its predecessor. I missed the individualisation options that GTA San Andreas had. But the story is great, the atmosphere of Liberty City is excellent, and the gameplay is fantastic.

    Apprezzo l'aggiornamento fatto in passato dalla Rockstar per la complete edition su steam, però sono già passati un paio di anni e invece di moddarlo preferirei che riaggiungessero alcune musiche delle radio che hanno levato e se fixassero qualche bug o ottimizzare la compatibilità con i nuovi sistemi operativi
    Comunque in fin dei conti è sempre un bel gioco

    As a kid I never really liked GTA too much. I used to consider it a "dirty" franchise, which is a term I used for things that you'd expect your elder brother to like when you were kids. It didn't have too much colour, there are no colourful characters, there is no comedic storyline and so on. Turns out I had been thinking this way about GTA because of this very game. So after I finished GTA V last year before the pandemic started, I decided to give this game a try. I started playing this game before the pandemic, and finished it after it. Turns out this is now my favourite game in the franchise.
    I don't know why, but I think there's something about East Europeans that they can never be taken casually. And this game is something that has expanded over that. GTA IV is the only serious, grounded game in the entire GTA franchise that actually follows a grim, dark storyline of Niko Bellic, a Serbian man who has come to America to start his new life. He has nothing left back in his country other than sad memories, but in America he has the thing he needs the most in life, a new, positive hope, something his cousin Roman is giving him. But it turns out Roman had been lying to him the whole time.
    Niko saves Roman from the Russian mob he had set them upon, gets a girlfriend, meets many new friends and tries to get over his past and start life with a fresh page, except the Russian mob, the FIB and even Roman himself just won't let him be in peace. And this is the reason why this game is so good. Unlike V, San Andreas or Vice City, this one makes the plot so powerful it makes you feel both happy and sad at the same time. In every serious scene there is a subtle humour that will take away the grim tone that it gives without making the jokes look forced. The bank robbing scene, Niko killing Vlad, Niko telling his story to Roman while he dozes off - there are plenty of such scenes.
    Another thing that makes this game so metal is the tone. The colour palette looks very, very bleak in spite of not actually being so. Although I think this is because the Rockstar games made back then used to look like this (since Bully also has the same colour palette), it really suits this game's tone. The cars are also very realistic. In GTA V, every car has a very luxurious interior. Even the dump trucks have digital screens. Tell me, does such a thing happen in real life? Do cars actually look anything even close to being that good? No, right? This is what I like about this game. The cars look very filthy from the inside, just like how they are in real life.
    Speaking of cars, this game surely has a bad mechanic for driving. Personally this is the only complaint I have with this game. Steering a car feels like steering a boat. It gets even worse when it comes to driving a truck or a bus. The weapon combat, however, completely makes us for that. This is probably the only GTA game to have an even combat. In GTA V the combat is more biased in the player's favour while in GTA San Andreas the combat is more biased in the opponent's favour (depending on who the opponent is). The weapon usage is also much better in comparison to the previous games, and this was made even better in GTA V.
    Another thing I really like about this game is the music. The menu music of this game is probably the best one in existence. The loading screen also really looks like it means business, with all the characters appearing on the screen with Soviet Connection playing in the background really gives a bossy feeling to it. While driving the car I always switched to Vlodovstok to listen to Eins Zwei Drei Schicke Schicke Schweine. It was my favourite song in the whole game (do give it a listen on YouTube, it's amazing).
    GTA IV is, in simpler words, metal. It's metal from start to end, irrespective of what choices you make. It's really surprising it does not have the same reputation as GTA V or San Andreas, even though this is the highest rated game in the franchise. Мне также очень понравилось то, как они раскрыли персонажей. Плюс у каждого свои история, переживания и взгляды на мир, что позволяет Нико раскрываться и самому.     Сам Либерти-Сити (прототипом которого является Нью-Йорк) очень впечатляет. Лично мне безумно нравится его архитектурное величие и тяжесть. А когда начинают идти дожди, вообще диву даешься, насколько может запасть в душу видеоигра. На этом и выстроился мой личный симбиоз к GTA IV. Я по-настоящему полюбил эту игру, этих персонажей, эту атмосферу, музыку, ливни. Игра стала мне очень родной. Конечно, я могу понять альтернативные взгляды, мол игра слишком серая, унылая, в ней мало того, что кто-то раньше полюбил; я это понимаю, но не соглашаюсь.     Obviously, the main character (let me introduce you to the famous Niko Bellic) does NOT have the charisma we all expected with his jogging suit and sloppy appearance. He is included with a story with highs and lows, often awfully predictable, sometimes quite interesting. If you meet a huge number of different characters, I must admit that they don't evolve much, unlike you who keep climbing the social ladder. The map is huge but you can only get to some parts by playing a lot and it unlocks very slowly. Controls are a bit stiff and Niko is sometimes hard to manipulate. As in each and every GTA game, characters are overly-stereotyped and way too often reduced to their visual appearance. The major flaw of this game is surely its launcher and all the traps and bugs that Rockstar is responsible for, including the overall quality of the PC portage.

    However, online mode is fantastic. The fact that you can take random objects in the streets and throw them away is amazing (too bad they erased this ability in GTA V). Phyiscs are great, the death scenes are fun to watch. Driving in the whole state is fun. The world around you is truly living and reacts to your actions, even if AI is not always at its best. Story is really long and forces you to explore different places and activities (even if missions become honestly repetitive at the end).     Obviously, this game has a special place. But at the release it was extremely poorly optimized for PC and this is something I cannot forget.

    Although the PC port is terrible and it's very hard to run the game decently, in my opinion this is the best GTA game ever made, the story is amazing and well written and the characters are great and memorable especially Niko and Roman, the graphics are actually pretty good for a game released in 2008 and the dark and gritty look of the City made this game looks kinda unique and the darkAlthough the PC port is terrible and it's very hard to run the game decently, in my opinion this is the best GTA game ever made, the story is amazing and well written and the characters are great and memorable especially Niko and Roman, the graphics are actually pretty good for a game released in 2008 and the dark and gritty look of the City made this game looks kinda unique and the dark tone makes this game stand out among the series for better or for worse, the City itself is full of details and there's so much going on and it's very fun to explore you can fight people find weapons kill people stealing cars as any other GTA you loved and the ragdoll physics makes the gameplay so much entertaining the controls and movements are good the combat system is fun, driving is kinda slippery but it's fun when you get the hang of it.
    My biggest gripe with the game is that there's not much to do in the City as in San Andreas there's no deep character customization no airplanes no managing parapets and you're money had nothing to spend on other than guns and clothes, at the end of game you'll have a half million dollars that you can do almost nothing to spend it but this issue it's not big deal for me at least you can do side activities like playing bowling or pool and going to burger shot and visit some comedy club and watch some hilarious shows and the radio stations are fun to listen at, you can hang out with some characters you met through out the story and listen to some more dialogues, the side missions are great especially the random encounters and the assassination missions.

    Extremamente Mal Otimizado Pra PC, de resto o Jogo é bom, Como Falei na Review do Gta IV XBOX 360, só perde pra console na parte da Otimização.
