    This game is a complete mess. The graphics / aesthetics are nice and at times the combat can flow really well but everything else is shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Dont waste your money on this.

    Free drop on Epic Store. Well it looks very pretty with lots of nice effects. Also comes across as weeb stuff with furry type characters. That stuff is not really my thing and doesn't do it for me. Combat was flashy like a big budget Hollywood effects movies, ooh. Oh well back to God of War on the PS4 then.

    OH MY **** GOURD this is the most hideous "good looking" game I have ever seen and probably ever will. Too shiny, too golden and too colorful and a constant assault on your retinas. My eyes started straining within just half an hour of gameplay. It looks like if Donald Trump became an architect, got his hands on a billion tons of gold, silver, chrome polished steel, all manner of gemstonesOH MY **** GOURD this is the most hideous "good looking" game I have ever seen and probably ever will. Too shiny, too golden and too colorful and a constant assault on your retinas. My eyes started straining within just half an hour of gameplay. It looks like if Donald Trump became an architect, got his hands on a billion tons of gold, silver, chrome polished steel, all manner of gemstones and a **** ton of RGB and built himself a vast palace out of it all with gold coins scattered all over the place. Seriously, why are there piles of gold coins all over the place??? The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that Trump had a part in this.

    Combat is crap and super clunky and enemies explode into a blindingly bright cloud of particles all the time and you can't see anything. Story is an absolute snooze fest and I can't roll my eyes hard enough. I can't tell if the characters there are human or humanoid or anything since they're all wearing some stupid lion faced armor or whatever. They were too lazy to actually design faces and facial animations and spent all their dev time polishing the game. Get it? Gold. Shiny. Polish. Facepalm.

    The game has way too many connection issues. Being an Always Online game, there is a pop-up every couple minutes about server connection where your character is unresponsive yet the enemies in the background still have movement. This one issue renders the game unplayable as you are defenseless against the onslaught of enemies.

    This version is a little bit better than the version of PlayStation 5 but almost the same disaster Oh boy this game is a disaster the first big game for PlayStation 5 and is a Big Fail I have no words to express myself about this FLOP this game is worse than Anthem and that's tell you a lot

    Everything about this game is a cheap ripoff from other games with absolutely terrible execution. The world design is boring and repetitive. The combat is clunky and laggy. Storytelling is the worst I've ever experienced for what seemed like was going to be a game steeped in lore. Even seeing the game at max graphics doesn't make you say "oh this is a next-generation game". I'm just glad IEverything about this game is a cheap ripoff from other games with absolutely terrible execution. The world design is boring and repetitive. The combat is clunky and laggy.     Copy of God Of War. Mechanics and graphics are pathetic, trying to be the second GoW but it's failed. A disgusting game that is wasting time and money, save your $70 for a better game or a better meal

    AAA Cashgrab, focusing on nothing but "oh shiny, oh wow particle effects! 10/10" reviewers.

    Developers hopped on the $70 price-hike train, charging more money for less and less quality. No, your next-gen shine and particle effects leap is not worth an additional $10. Mods do the same thing for 10-year-old games free of charge.

    The game is poor quality, combat is copy-paste and boring. Maps are copy-paste with different filters (Oh Shiny, still!). Basically, it's a decorated hallway simulator.

    No campaign at all. AT ALL. Farm the same 5-minute missions (go here, kill that) 20 times to collect tokens to unlock doors (mobile game???). Open the big door a couple of times, the game is over. Oh, and you talk to two different NPC's about how bad the bad guy is every once in a while.

    It's bad guys. Really, it's pathetically bad. The fact that this was hoisted as a true next-gen AAA experience during all this time (and NOBODY at Sony realized how truly awful this was) is concerning, and a bad, bad sign for this new generation of games. Also, just goes to show that Sony doesn't actually have a single clue about what a videogame actually is.

    Avoid. Avoid. And if somebody gives it a 10/10, avoid them too. It's either an attempt to combat buyer's remorse or an employee.    … Expand

    It's beautiful, with cool art design. That's really about the best of it. Other than that, here's the problems. Combat has major issues. It's clunky and frustrating, and so full of particle effects that when 4-5 enemies are around you can barely see what you're doing. Also, there's NO    God of War combat, Destiny style loot, and a story most 3rd graders could write in an hour.

    It's beautiful, with cool art design. That's really about the best of it.

    Other than that, here's the problems. Combat has major issues. It's clunky and frustrating, and so full of particle effects that when 4-5 enemies are around you can barely see what you're doing. Also, there's NO animation cancelling. So you like that greatsword or hammer? Get ready to be animation locked for over a second every time you hit a button. Parry and dodge both can't be activated during an attack.
    It's very souls-y. By the end game, even with a balance of might and vitality, getting 2-3 shot by virtually every boss is a given. And with combo moves and an overabundance of invulnerability/invisibility/flying phases mixed with ground effects, getting hit into ground fire (which I swear 90% of the bosses use) makes you burn, then a follow up kills you while you lay in the fire.

    The end game is literally "enhanced" versions of all the story bosses and mini-bosses, except they have more AoE and ground effects. Then at max level, there's even further "enhanced" versions of all the bosses. It's completely braindead in it's design and getting loot doesn't even feel good.

    Bottom line?
    $60 artwork, $20 gameplay, $5 fun factor, $1 story.

    If you're in it entirely for the graphics, go for it. Otherwise just play anything else.    … Expand

    This game is kind of like Dubai in a sense. It's just as hollow, vain and materialistic. Godfall has 0 substance.     The game visuals are horrendous - the style can only be described as Donald Trump's wet dream. Everything is golden, everywhere, everything is shiny as hell and there are more particles effects than racists at a Trump rally.
    After all this I thought at least the battle would be good - wrong! It is godawfall! There is no balance, there is no input queuing, some foe animations are completely unblockable due to the fact that there are no queues as to when they will attack - they just do. Boss fights are just a frustrating mess due to the tight camera angle(can't see the whole battlefield and all enemies) and the moves they employ - You can only fight with melee weapons, yet they can fly, spam fire and set the ground on fire - you can only run during this whole time and you can maybe hit them twice when they tough the ground. Who decided this was okay? Are these guys high?
    The loot is pretty meh - It has stats that makes sense but for the most part you won't get anything good.
    The level design is atrocious. All levels look the same, there is no map and it is just a link with tight corridors that lead to arenas and that's it.

    The suits, ah, the suits. Don't bother unlocking them either - they only look different - they play exactly the same. No deviation whatsoever, except for the special attack and even that is the same for like half of them. Terrible!
    I really wanted to like the game, but I can't. I feel cheated I spent $60 on this garbage.

This is a half baked D- at best. Shallow story, button smashing gameplay, crappy camera. And let's not forget bugs and freeze frames on high end PCs.

    If you want to play God of War with a terrible story line, useless grinding, and frustrating level design than this is the game for you. This game is the cherry on top for the 2020 COVID crisis. Welcome to "Anthem". If I could sum this game up in as few words as possible it would be two of the following:

    Lipstick on a pig

    Game isn't a button masher, you need to time your attacks, which would be fine if the controls weren't unresponsive half the time, and even more fine if you didn't at times have to fight multiple enemies at once making blocking/parrying/dodging/attacking utterly impossible with timed button presses that can't be animation canceled or interrupted in any way.
    This is really a bad game with really bad game design. Story is non-existent. There's plenty of lore but who cares when everything surrounding it is just plain awful?
    Map design is also bad. Yes, it looks very VERY nice, but the layouts are just plain trash. You find yourself trying to complete objectives and ending up in dead ends constantly with no idea where to go.
    Honestly, I wouldn't even recommend it for free simply because it is way too frustrating and annoying to be worth your time, paid or free - let alone paid at AAA price levels. What a joke!

    Godfall is an astonishing next-gen tech demo. Which is, honestly, the only positive trait of the game. Apart from that, it just delivers 10 hours of repetitive hack and slash gameplay and a tedious story worth a third grader. [Issue#308]
