    Solid Metroid-clone metroidvania that takes a popular genre/IP and truly makes it its own.

    The gameplay is solid, the world/setting is truly interesting to explore, the art is beautiful in its simplicity, the variety of weapons and enemies is exemplary, the story is cryptic and non-intrusive, and the game doesn't hold your hand like tons of other lesser games out there. Most notably,    Solid Metroid-clone metroidvania that takes a popular genre/IP and truly makes it its own.

    The gameplay is solid, the world/setting is truly interesting to explore, the art is beautiful in its simplicity, the variety of weapons and enemies is exemplary, the story is cryptic and non-intrusive, and the game doesn't hold your hand like tons of other lesser games out there.

    Most notably, the sound design is absolutely wonderful. The atmosphere it creates is nuanced, poignant, and fully immerses you in this foreign world.

    The difficulty can vary a bit wildly, with early stuff feeling quite difficult and later stuff being surprizingly easy, but it didn't bother me that much; in a sense, it almost helps to keep you on your toes as you never know what kind of challenge you'll face.

    Also your character's motivations are a bit weak, and the ending is a bit abrupt, but overall it doesn't matter much. There's a lot in there to keep you going and have a good time. I just wished some of the long dialogue was trimmed out in favor of explaining more of the world's mysteries.

    As Ghost song started, I was immediately captured by the gorgeous art style, the characters deliberately awkward walk cycle and the haunted atmosphere of the planet. I’m a big fan of metroidvanias and the game seems promise that it’s going to be one of the great ones. However, as the game went on it became clear that out of confusion with what it was trying to achieve, the game simplyAs Ghost song started, I was immediately captured by the gorgeous art style, the characters deliberately awkward walk cycle and the haunted atmosphere of the planet.     There’s a bewildering graphomania to Ghost Song’s NPC’s that seems indicative. There’s way too many of them and they all have more dialogue than necessary. There are so many that I kind of forgot who a lot of them were and it feels like in a lonely metroidvania such as this the npcs should be few and far between and significant. So too, the combat system is refreshingly closer to Super Metroid but it seems to want to be soulslike and ends up being dissatisfying as either.
    I think this game is worth playing for sure, but I think if it was shorter and more concentrated it would work far better.    … Expand

    A labour of love around a decade in the making, Ghost Song is a seemingly uncompromised personal vision - one creator's declaration of what they love about the Metroidvania genre, and where they felt it could go.     The most Metroid game out there. Took out the dumb counter system of modern Metroid, to allow for a melee system. Way better. Not sure why the low review I play sooo many Metroidvanias and, this one, is a standout.

    This game is a Soulslike, make no beans about it. Even on the easiest difficulty, it will chew you up, spit you out, and make you backtrack 10 minutes from the last save spot.

    For my own experience, I started off going left, because this is a Metroidvania and that's what you do, right? Well, nothing stopped me from immediately encountering a powerful enemy that killed me in about a    This game is a Soulslike, make no beans about it.     For my own experience, I started off going left, because this is a Metroidvania and that's what you do, right? Well, nothing stopped me from immediately encountering a powerful enemy that killed me in about a second. I tried again, more cautiously this time, but after a short duel I still died. I decided to try going right instead, and reached the tutorial. Yes, that's right, I managed to die twice before the tutorial.

    I proceeded for a bit until I got to an area with strong but normal enemies with a large, hard-to-avoid ranged attack that kills you in about 3 shots. After dying twice here, each time making me spend several minutes getting back to where I was, I decided maybe the Easy difficulty was a better fit for me.

    On Easy, I did better, but not a lot better. I still died trying to go left, though I survived longer. I made it to the first movement upgrade, but on my last tick of health. One more hit and I would have gone back to that first save spot, and it was a long way back. At this point I decided this game wasn't any fun at all, and quit. Thank goodness I was playing it for free as part of Humble Choice.

    I'm not a bad gamer. I've gotten the true ending in Hollow Knight (though not the Path of Pain). I've beaten Celeste (though not Chapter 9). But this game wasn't just too hard for me, it was too punishing. The Dead Suit in this game moves so sluggishly that just catching back up to my last death was a chore.

    Everything about this game tells me it was only playtested by people who got really good at the game and forgot what the experience of someone trying it for the first time would be like. Maybe it gets good when you've mastered it. I'm not going to try to find out.    … Expand

    Ghost Song is a nice Game for Game Pass, which it is included. The Game is about 12-14 hours and there is nothing New, but it has a great atmosphere.
    You should try it, if u have Game Pass already.

    Die Steuerung und das generelle Metroidvania Feeling kommen ganz gut rüber.
    Allerdings trüben gewisse Mankos den Spielspaß für mich extrem.
    Zum einen weiß man bis auf den Anfang nicht wohin man muss. Ja gut kann man sagen, musst du halt wissen, erkunden oder zuhören, damit du aus kryptischen Erzählungen weißt wo es als nächstes hingeht.     Allerdings habe ich das Spiel kurz vor dem Ende beendet. Zum einen das andauerne umhergelaufe ohne Plan. Das machen andere Metroidvaniias deutlich besser.
    Das ist mir meine Zeit wertvoller als Spielzeitstreckung
    Zum anderen kleinere Bugs und generelle Probleme. Aber der ausschlaggebende Punkt war wirklich, dass ich nicht mehr wusste wohin und echt keine Lust hatte
    mir anhand Youtube Videos zusammen zu reimen wo es als nächstes hingeht. Leider für mich enttäuschend. Allen anderen die an dem Spiel Spaß haben, der sei euch

    Very atmospheric game. All fans of metroidvaniy should definitely try to play. The game is short, I would like it to be 2 times longer in time, at least. I am waiting for new games from the author of this game and the continuation of Ghost Song.

    I was enjoying this game at first, but it gets gradually worse as you go along. The main objective is to find five ship parts and take them back to the ship. The issue is that you can’t fast travel during this time, and there are these horribly annoying robot enemies that appear during the first section that just made it more frustrating than challenging.

    I would say that’s the game’s main issue: it’s idea of a good challenge is simply to annoy the player. So many boss fights include random enemies thrown at you, and the game’s kinda clunky controls make managing all these threats a chore. The hit boxes are also totally off. I shot a missile at a tiny enemy, and it somehow went under his stubby little legs. Meanwhile I fought an boss who carried around a giant blunt weapon it had to drag on the ground, and if you land on the weapon, it damages you somehow? Just so many amateur design choices. The art direction is beautiful, and some of the writing is entertaining, but beyond that, the game itself is just too flawed to recommend. It was made by one dude, apparently, so I hope for this guy’s next project, he just works on the artwork and hires people who know what they’re doing for the game design.    … Expand

    很像银河战士的作品，地图也非常大，怪物种类虽然少了一些，但也可以了。难度有些大，需要肝，否则有点硬核，游戏关卡不是很好打。总体上讲不错，画风上来说我其实不是很喜欢，不过也不是不可以接受，看人吧。设计上肯定还是有不足的，但也算不错的游戏了。

    Simply amazing metroidvania. Great visual art design and music. Terrific storyline and characters. Cannot understand the criticism for this game, as I am really enjoying it and it ticks all the right boxes for a metroidvania. Well done to the Devs and keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next game, thank you!

    Enjoyable metroidvania. An obvious homage (nearly a love letter) to Metroid, it's on the more difficult end of the genre. Boss fights require perfecting the boss's pattern and even then take several tries. Death punishment is a little rough but fair. Exploration is good. The game is a little rough around the edges unfortunately, some of the backgrounds look like spikes or enemies butEnjoyable metroidvania.     Enjoying the lo-fi soundtrack quite a bit. Works very well with this genre. Some reviews of mentioned the disabling of fast travel as annoying, but it actually creates a difficult segment after the bosses where you have to carefully make your way back across the map.     I wonder if all these "10" reviews are from people who FINISHED it. Half way through I would've also rated it high, but the last quarter of the game is a massive fizzle. None of the mysteries the game sets up get satisfying resolutions. The big questions just get answered in text bubbles instead of game play.     Overall happy with purchase. Love exploring the world, very atmospheric. With some cool boss fights that were fun and challenging. Gameplay was diverse, similar to charm system in hollow knight. Only downside was fast travel disabled and had to backtrack when MINOR SPOILER bringing back ship parts. Luckily doesn’t take too long to do it. I say give it a go if you a fan of metroidvanias.

    The game was decent up to the point they disable fast travel for the fetch quest. WTF. I can't positively review any game that disrespects players' time. Unnecessary backtracking is just padding, and that's a mark of lazy/bad game design

You've died and now live in your greatest worry. To be under the sea in it's, much like where the cosmos lives, infinite sorrow. You are alone, not entirely sure if you're drowning or if you're finally alive. They're both alien to you, or maybe you're alien to them. It no longer matters because all there is, is the abattoir of nothing that you have to cross. But to what? Home? There is no home and you can no longer remember if there ever even was.

    Anyways... This game isn't bad.

    okay okay.... I loved the atmosphere! The sound design and combat are both very well done. It's a lot of fun and has a world worth exploring! Beautiful art design. I'm giving this a 6 but not because it doesn't deserve a higher rating because you would have a very good argument for a 7 or an 8. But I often times have to be really sucked in for this type of game to really hold my attention for more than seven - eight hours. If you like metroidvania games, than I think you can't go without giving this one a try. Especially on game pass! There are many games in this genre that I truly do love and I adore the world that they've created here but there is something that's missing for me on this one. Again, my 6 doesn't mean the game is bad, because it's not and I recommend it for those who love this genre, but in the end I can't bring myself to give it higher than this.    … Expand

    Balancing a metroidvania and souls like is easy for Ghost Song. I did not feel like i was playing a game, but felt as though I was unraveling a story that is written with such care and finesse. The memorable moments, waking up, defeating an enemy, or just walking through a well built atmospheric setting led me to fall in love with this brilliant piece of art.

    This game really scratched my Metroid itch. It was a perfect blend between Metroid and Hollow Knight. If I had one gripe is that it doesn't have challenging platforming or puzzles and I found the environments a little lacking. I love the creativeness of the weapons as well as the boss fights.

    I've waited for this game for a long time and it's everything I hoped it would be. The writing and dialogue are so well done that I found myself very emotional and connecting to the characters in ways I wasn't expecting.     An incredible journey with stellar voice acting and some of the best writing I have ever seen. All the characters were easy to connect to and made me want to find out more about the world and what happened to them.
    Also, the art style is stunning! Whoever put all the time and effort into every little detail must be one of the most talented people I've ever seen.

    Ghost Song is a captivating Metroidvania with beautiful art and story writing. There's so much depth to the characters, each with their own unique voice acting. There's a human quality to the writing, something I've never experienced before in a game of this genre.

The various characters you encounter feel very human and entice you to seek out more encounters across the map to understand more lore and subtle personal relationships.     Ghost Song is a love letter to metroidvania genre with a huge map, so big that even the portion that can be immediately visited could almost represent a complete game. The game features an excellent graphic design, albeit with improvable animations, and an interesting story to follow despite starting with a little delay. The soulslike component makes things as hard as expected, and while it might annoy players who don't like repeating the same section again and again, it's part of the game. Definitely recommended for those who love exploration, too bad for the limited support for keyboard / mouse combo.

    In a year of great releases, Ghost Song stands apart as one of the best. It was a fantastic adventure from start to finish. If you have played and enjoyed Metroid Dread and are looking for something to tie you over as you wait for Silk Song, Ghost Song will take you on a journey that will amaze and surprise you.
