    «Gears 5» в целом ОК.

    Сюжетная кампания куда веселее и увлекательнее, чем в «Gears of War 4», которую прошел год тому назад. В целом всё куда разнообразнее в плане локаций, ситуаций и прочего. Есть пара-тройка новых механик, которые неплохо смотрятся, но реализованы довольно слабо, что стелс, что опенворлд. Остается надеяться, что условная 6-рка продвинется в этом аспекте куда дальше и    «Gears 5» в целом ОК.

    Сюжетная кампания куда веселее и увлекательнее, чем в «Gears of War 4», которую прошел год тому назад. В целом всё куда разнообразнее в плане локаций, ситуаций и прочего. Есть пара-тройка новых механик, которые неплохо смотрятся, но реализованы довольно слабо, что стелс, что опенворлд. Остается надеяться, что условная 6-рка продвинется в этом аспекте куда дальше и лучше. Ну и да, финал типичной трилогии или чего такого оставляет смешанные впечатления от оборванного клиффхэнгера и условного “to be continued”, которое придется ждать года 3. Ну и дизайн новой трилогии всё так же не цепляет.

    Неплохо освежили мультиплеер. Никогда не любил «Horde», к нему же отправляется «Escape», вроде любопытный новый режим, но не для меня. А вот классический «Versus» за счет повышенной скорости и TTK прям заиграл новыми красками, дико протащился с этого режима, хотя раньше не особо ценил мультиплеер серии.

    Спорная техническая составляющая ПК-версии периодически портила впечатления.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review is 90% campaign (on INSANE mode), and 10% multiplayer. Gears 5 is a good game.

    Easy stuff first. Soundtrack is okay. Sound design is very good (you never get tired of the meaty CRUNCH of headshot kills; guns sound good). Graphics are really really good - optimization is surprisingly good, too (ran at +80 FPS on my GTX1070 and i7-8700k). On top of graphics, world design is really really good - every place you visit is screenshot-worthy; there is so much detail to look at in the world around you. The bases, offices, and rooms you visit all look like they actually were functioning once. Gameplay is great - it never gets tiring to run, hide behind cover, and pop some monster heads. The story is...very meh. I'll talk more about the story below. All in all, this is a very fun single-player experience. The gameplay and the beautifully realized world the devs built keep you coming back for more...even if the story sucks. The multiplayer is icing on the cake, in case you want more Gears of War gaming even after you've finished the campaign.

    So the story. It's...not very good. There are many, many moments that really break your immersion. For example, why does Kait and her gang have so much freedom? They're part of a military organization! I'm not a military employee or something; but even as a civilian, I look at the things that Kait and co. are free to do and I'm like "WTF? Don't they need clearance to do that? Can't they get court-martial-ed for disobeying orders?". Additionally, the things Kait and company are doing are actually EXTREMELY important for the survival of mankind, so...where is the rest of COG? Why don't they help? Why doesn't the chain of command bother to know or even care about what's happening?
    More story issues. In chapter 2, Kait decides to go AWOL and they just...let her? Don't get me wrong, Kait clearly has telepathic links to the Swarm, so yes, THE AUDIENCE knows that she has a good reason...but in the game, she literally does NOT explain this to JD and the gang. She effectively just says "I'm going and that's THAT! Because reasons!!!" and JD kinda just goes..."But!...okay, I guess.". It's really, really, dumb writing. And then there's this weird decision to make you play chapter 1 as JD...only to shift the story to Kait at chapter 2. The narrative disconnect between chapter 1 and 2 is MASSIVE. The only meaningful thing that happened in chapter 1 is that JD took a tactical risk that got Carmine killed, which made him a stone-cold, by-the-books kind of soldier. This stuff about JD's character development sounds good, until we see him again in chapter 3 and...he's pretty much the same? Throughout chapter 2, Kait and Del are saying stuff like "man, will JD ever be the same again?...", "JD took Carmine's death really hard..."; but when you see him again he is LITERALLY the same again. He is the exact same JD from chapter 1. The only thing different about him now is his arm is burnt and he's bald, which is cool, I guess? Basically once you hit chapter 3, you realize chapter 1 was a wasted narrative.
    And then!!! You hit chapter 4. You have to make a terrible choice - save Del or JD? But...why? Literally, why??? This choice scene starts with an earthquake which robs Del, JD, and Kait of all NINE OF THEIR MAG-LOCKED WEAPONS. After all the tumbling, rolling, and falling you have done for THREE CHAPTERS, YOUR WEAPONS HAVE NEVER EVER FALLEN OFF YOUR BACK OR HIP. So now the audience is just supposed to accept that "oh no! all are magnetically-locked weapons on our armor were shaken of by an earthquake! we are weaponless now! the tension is SO HIGH!"...stupid stupid writing. So yeah, defenseless, the Swarm Queen (using Kait's mom's body) or something approaches Kait. Swarm Queen attacks Del, JD, and Kait. She has her deadly tentacles around their necks, and she has them cornered. She can kill them now, easily, if she wanted. But for some reason, when she sees you have a knife, she gives you a choice? Save JD or Del? And then after you make your choice, she says "you made your choice! NOW DIE WITH IT!". Huh??? She made you choose who to save, then will kill you BOTH anyway? So many questions! Why did she give us a choice in the first place, only to leave us to die anyway? Why approach Kait without making her intentions clear? What was the point of all of this? This whole scene was so abruptly stupid that I scoffed when I watched it happen. It almost feels like some executive sat-in one day and had "this really cool idea for the story" and the devs were forced to implement it last-minute. It's so freaking dumb. To add insult to narrative injury, once you are buried by the earthquake, YOU AND JD/DEL HAVE PISTOLS AGAIN. My goodness!

    Anyway, yeah. The gameplay is SO GOOD that the game gets a hard pass for it's atrociously bad story. Play it. Turn off your brain, alt-tab when there are cutscenes, and just enjoy the gameplay.    … Expand

    Сюжетная кампания просто на уровне, это что-то, что я так сильно люблю в одиночных кампаниях. Геймдизайн хорош, сначала небольшая прогулочка, потом перестрелка, правильное решение. Графика красивая, левел дизайн еще сильнее все украсил. Персонажи интересные, не для галочки.     Stále ta stejná drsná rubačka jako dříve a konečně na Steamu. Gears 5 je opět jedna z nejlepších akčních her z pohledu třetí osoby a jedna z nejlepších tower defence akcí na trhu. Multiplayer skvělí, kampaň na insane obtížnost skoro nehratelná. Vskutku skvělá akční hra s výbornou grafikou i když má pár bolístek, na které rád upozorním.

    Hodně promyslete jestli si Gears 5 koupíte a když nemáte kámoše ušetřím vám čas, nekupujte to.    … Expand

    Super awesome Game! Love the Campaign and adore the nee & old Multiplayer modes! Runs super smooth on my PC and never had any issues except some small connection issues here and there.

    I played early acces and I must say its very very good optimized.. like insanely good. Love the game.. only downpart is that the servers and loading stats after a match a really wonky..

    Well, new game for Xbox comes for PC in Steam. It was a great idea to release the game not in the usual Windows Store, but in Steamed, because the game feels great on this client.Everything is amazing in it:

    •Bugs, poorly functioning servers and errors due to which some players cannot play the game (although these problems are solved by a couple of patches after the release, but you can’t talk about them)
    The result was a worthy continuation of the legendary series not inferior in scale to previous parts

    Gears of war es una saga que a nivel gráfico y jugable, marco un antes y un después, a pesar de la ausencia de su creador (Cliff Bleszinski), esta nueva entrega levanta aún más el listón en términos de calidad. The Coalition hizo un excelente trabajo de optimizacion, tanto en PC como en consolas (Xbox One y Xbox One X). El modo historia me pareció increíble, la jugabilidad es rápida yGears of war es una saga que a nivel gráfico y jugable, marco un antes y un después, a pesar de la ausencia de su creador (Cliff Bleszinski), esta nueva entrega levanta aún más el listón en términos de calidad. The Coalition hizo un excelente trabajo de optimizacion, tanto en PC como en consolas (Xbox One y Xbox One X). El modo historia me pareció increíble, la jugabilidad es rápida y sencilla, la banda sonora esta cargada de epicidad y nostalgia y en resumen, todo aquello que constituye esta obra esta cuidado hasta el mínimo detalle. El modo cooperativo en campaña, escape y horda están bien implementados, además el competitivo sigue manteniendo su esencia.     Pros: -Tremendous mouse and keyboard support! It plays like a first class PC game. If people complain about it they just aren't good or haven't tweaked settings. -Gorgeous graphics and tremendously optimized! -Intriguing and unique campaign. -Multiplayer stays true to its roots while adding (not subtracting) new variants and modes that keep it fresh.    This game is loads of fun!

    Pros:

    Cons:
    -I wish they had PC splitscreen on the multiplayer but I get it. PC games aren't the playground for that.

    -Wish it was 4 player co-op but the reason its 3 is chill.

    The PC game only adds to what would be one of 2019's best games. This game looked amazing on the base XB1 and the PC version takes this game and runs 1000miles forward with it. Great game, The campaign is a masterpiece and is up there with the very best. Must play for Gears fans and a great entry to new Gears fans. Looking forward to Gears 6.

    Wonderful PC version, looks great, runs well, gunplay is fantastic and it has TONS of content. Thanks for bringing the game to steam to!

    Horde mode is the best it has been and is worth the money alone and the campaign is fantastic, best since Gears 2.

    Otimo jogo, otima otimização , que campanha meus amigos, digno de estar entre os 3 primeiros, o 4 foi bom , mas o 5 está espetacular, valeu a pena ter comprado na STEAM pelo preço de R$65,00 comprando na Steam Russa haha , a maioria dos negativos é por causa do blockeio que a China tomo pela treta EUA e China kkk , o jogo tem uma campanha de umas 12-15 horas depende a dificuldade e aOtimo jogo, otima otimização , que campanha meus amigos, digno de estar entre os 3 primeiros, o 4 foi bom , mas o 5 está espetacular, valeu a pena ter comprado na STEAM pelo preço de R$65,00 comprando na Steam Russa haha , a maioria dos negativos é por causa do blockeio que a China tomo pela treta EUA e China kkk , o jogo tem uma campanha de umas 12-15 horas depende a dificuldade e a exploração , estou jogando no Insano pelo desafio.… Expand

The new cast of kids talk to each other like real friends with real history as they go through some serious **** together.

    Escape mode, their "infinitely repayable dungeon mode" is a bit half baked. I    And they say single player campaigns are dead. This is FANTASTIC campaign. The dialogue has all the heart that the Gears series has always had. Except this time it is a lot more grown up. The new cast of kids talk to each other like real friends with real history as they go through some serious **** together.

    Escape mode, their "infinitely repayable dungeon mode" is a bit half baked. I do love the idea of Gears having something like Destiny-style strikes...but this attempt ain't it.    … Expand

    Gears 5 sports an interesting and engaging campaign with acting and cinematography worthy of its triple-A title. It is also made with impressive levels of optimisation while still being visual appealing. Gears 5 is fun, chaotic, and engaging; I don't see why anyone who likes to play third person cover shooters wouldn't buy this, franchise newcomers and veterans alike.

    And XBOX used their best game this generation to do it.

    If you haven't figured it out yet Kait is Gears new lead. Not just Gears 5 but seemingly Gears of War itself. The Coalition decided that Kait, not JD Fenix or his best friend Dell, is the successor to the Lancer wielding, curb stomping, Marcus Fenix legacy. For reasons that are not too hard to imagine in a western world obsessed with politically correct sentiment.

    It's not hard to envision development teams and even executive boardrooms filled with castrated males trying not to offend the women around them when it comes to the creation of a narrative like this. It is obvious that female inclusion and visibility, no matter how masculine the premise, is all that matters and it's brotherhood be damned from here on out.

    In fact, they are so serious about this, they force you the player to be complicit in killing off brotherhood in Gears 5 by literally having you choose... Spoiler Incoming

    which bro's neck to break so that a woman has a place on the two man squad forever. Making the overwhelmingly male player base (especially the young ones) an accomplice to the death of brotherhood is psychologically masterful. Showing how serious modern developers are in their activism.
    Gears campaign from it's inception was built upon the hyper masculine. It was a Band of Brothers on a colony world. And now... It's a vehicle used to preach female empowerment to young impressionable males under the guise of diversity. It's obvious that a growing number of developers consider masculinity and brotherhood toxic and The Coalition is no exception. Meaning to correct it by any means necessary even it means gambling their best game in years to do it.    … Expand

    Best gears out of the past 5 years. Much better then Judement, and Gears 4 in my opinion. It however does not hold a candle to the first 3. Strictly in the storyline aspect however. The new mechanics, and combat are leagues above its predecessors. Overall this is a MUST PLAY if u have xgp. If not, rent from the redbox and play through the story in under 10hours(if u don’t collectBest gears out of the past 5 years. Much better then Judement, and Gears 4 in my opinion. It however does not hold a candle to the first 3. Strictly in the storyline aspect however. The new mechanics, and combat are leagues above its predecessors.     Perfect Game! Incredibile saga, every game is great! A big map with a lot of things to do and cool second missions. The sounds, visuals, backdrops are perfect and image quality make the game a phenomenon!

    Graphics are stunning with gorgeous locations and effects, Great care has been taken to animation as motion capture looks great with faces and lip sync good. You will almost never teleport into a vehicle or through a door because dedication has been made to create an immersive experience and there are animations for basically everything you do.

    Audio is another hit with stellar sound effects that hit all the right notes. Explosions feel impactful and weighty which is exactly what you want in a game with many explosions and chainsaws ripping through flesh. I won't be searching up the sound track because the score itself isn't all that memorable but the intense action scenes and emotional beats are all supported by appropriate music which serve the game well. Voice acting is also top notch here,

    The story isn't the highlight and this definitely won't replace your narrative driven games but it wasn't really trying to. It's an excuse to bring you to some cool locations and fight some bad guys with big guns, and to that extent it does its job. The plot moves along at a good pace though I personally didn't care all that much for the overall objective. What kept me interested were the characters as they do genuinely bring a smile to your face with the cheesy squad dialogue and they were all unique enough to not instantly forget who they were if they were gone for a few scenes. There were a few emotional moments and choices which didn't fully land but weren't far off. Maybe it's because I haven't played Gears 4 and so i'm not hugely invested in the characters? Either way at the very least it kept me entertained and interested all the way through.

    Gameplay is absolutely at the top of the class. Almost every shooter mechanic or trope is included here and yet it doesn't feel bloated at all. From powerful, fun guns to environmental hazards. Turret sections to manning your vehicle . Quicktime events to executions and melee combat. There is even stealth and playing as the enemy race. This might sound a bit overdone but it all works out beautifully and never feels in your face. You're not forced to utilise everything in your arsenal but you're encouraged to try them out and have fun. The way they best accomplish this is with your AI companion, Jack.

    Jack functions unlike your other standard AI squaddies, He still revives you when you go down and zaps bad guys; but has abilities which compliment how you choose to play. He has a few support and assault abilities which can be found and upgraded throughout the campaign via the main story as well as sidequests. These often have multiple uses inside and outside combat. For example is the CLOAK ability. Stealth is a pretty barebones system which basically amounts to going behind an enemy to one-shot execute them as long as they have seen you yet, however with the cloak ability you get to reposition or take out key targets like snipers. Further upgrading it will also let you remain in stealth after performing actions which can keep the stealth kill chain active and severely break down enemy defences. Along with the ability to bypass turrets outside combat, this makes upgrading Jacks abilities very beneficial and I used practically all of them while playing.

    Co-Op was extremely well done... if you're playing with just one friend. This is because the 3rd player is forced into the aforementioned Robot role. As much as I just praised Jack in the paragraph above, this does not translate well into 3 player co-op. Not only do the two other human players no longer get use any abilities themselves, playing as Jack just isn't very fun. You don't get to play with any of the big guns nor do much direct damage yourself, you are relegated to support it just isn't enough. I see what they were going for here but sadly it does not pan out. Two player co-op on the other hand is simply fantastic. Both players have different perspectives, even in some cutscenes which always kept us communicating and talking about what just happened. I won't get into spoilers here but it's well worth playing the game with a good friend over a voice call. You can share ammo, work together when taking out enemies and bosses and at times get to play out slightly different experiences, like when very early in the game one of you gets trapped in a flaming building and the other has to rescue them.

    Performance was smooth as butter and I had no frame drops or connection issues playing on co-op the entire way through. There is a suite of customisation and accessibility options here and The Coalition and Microsoft should get nothing but praise for this. Its outstanding. Without jumping into multiplayer I can easily recommend this game. What a great value! Especially since its all available on Game Pass for PC for such little cost. 10/10    … Expand

This would mean 2/3rds of the people who rated the game left reviews(most of them 10s), which simply doesn't happen, especially since there aren't enough Xbox One fans to leave so many reviews in such a short time. These are undoubtably paid shills probably using bots to leave huge amounts of positive reviews. It's simply impossible to trust Metacritic scores any more now that shilling has become such a big business on the internet and Metacritic is the perfect place for it.

    That said, some people will love this game. And if you want something to melt your new RTX GPU, you can't go wrong with this.    … Expand

If you want to be a competitive player you have all the ranked matches, or if you are a casual you have arcade and quick play, if you are big into coop you have campaign, horse, and escape. Мультиплеер на любителя, не каждому зайдет играть в сетевую где 99% процентов игроков с дробовиками, а большинство оружия мусор, т.к медленно убивают. Вы можете раз 10 в чела попасть, а он подбежит и ваншотнет вас с дроба. Орда интересный режим, можно на релаксичах побегать пострелять. Новый режим побег интересен, но быстро надоедает. Сюжет простой, но интересный и затягивает, а в конце будет неожиданный поворот. В итоге хочу сказать что игра хорошая, и очень красивая. Ждем продолжения… Expand

Previously retired store items can now be bought with coins, so FOMO is less of a concern now. Characters are now unlocked immediately when a skin is acquired and the Totem system is gone (thankfully). And perhaps most notably, Horde/Escape classes have been decoupled from characters. I gave this game a 5/10 at launch and I couldn't be happier to bump that up to a 9 now. It's incredibly refreshing to see a AAA developer listen to the community and steer a game in such a positive, consumer-friendly direction. If you've been gone from Gears for a while now, now is a great time to hop back on and check out the changes.… Expand

    The Game is awesome, runs smooth, but has GPU crashes, error GW502 all the time, the new NVIDIA driver made it worse, for me now its not playable...what a waste.

Also AA method used in the game make it a bit blurry and there is no option for AA to switch it off or choose other method. Campaign and plot is satisfying but as I said earlier game is too short. What I was more surprised with, was the history's drama and how attentive they were in regards to the history and the character development.     + 3-person on-line coop in campaign, 2-person split screen
    + an Unreal Engine 4 showcase with beautiful visuals and outstanding sound (Dolby Atmos); this is actually the best sounding game I've ever played, headphones highly recommended
    + Structure building in Horde mode is now character based, energy can be stored individually or shared among everyone
    + Good enemy variety in Horde
    + AI fills empty slots in horde (!) if someone leaves
    + Jack is a playable character in Horde, with unique gameplay mechanics
    + A new 3-player, short co-op mode called Escape; those who don't like versus and have no time for horde can have a 15-20 minute match of Escape
    + matchmaking AS WELL AS player/dedicated servers with personal settings (you still get achievements, XP and tour of duty things!) - no more problems with finding people who actually want to plow through all 50 horde waves in a single session. There are plenty of servers named "1-50 horde". Just played one game all the way from wave 1 to 50 with some nice, dedicated folks.
    + many customization options for those of you who like this stuff
    + in general - good latency online
    + cross-platform play
    + no loot boxes

    The cons:
    - worst AI out of all Gears games; your teammates may not revive you even if you are next to them; enemies sometimes get stuck or just stand there like a bunch of idiots
    - a technical mess: once I faced a bug that forced me to restart the last checkpoint, choppy or glitched cut-scenes and videos, disconnects
    - the AI of gears that replace players in Horde is a joke
    - Ubisoft-like microtransactions, not necessary, yet annoying
    - the final chapter is significantly shorter than the other ones; very good, but short
    - versus is still just a gnasher festival
    - Escape is a bit of a letdown; not as interesting as it sounds, needs improvement, map rotation; some players just try to storm through the level without firing a bullet
    - (subjective) open world elements, better than most games, yet I hope they don't go down this path - I fear that boring side activities may creep into Gears 6 (looking at you Ubisoft)

    The game is worth the money for the singleplayer campaign alone. With over 300h in Gears 4 multiplayer, I know I will be playing this one for years to come. I do believe that the game improves as moths pass, but with all the technical issues I cannot give it a perfect score. It's a 9 out of 10 for me and I would like to thank the Coalition not only for continuing my favouite franchise, but also for improving it in nearly every aspect. Your series is the reason why I bought my Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Looking forward to Gears Tactics.    … Expand

    I enjoyed it. It was much like all the other gears games. Not much different mechanically. But the story was interesting. I'd like to see them finally ditch the 3rd person view and go with a 1st person view to mix things up a bit and try something more refreshing to the series.

    The game has a good coop campaign and after playing borderlands 3, I can only say that the devs have outdone themselfs in therms of performance. It looks beautiful and it runs awesome. The reason why this is only an 8 is because they hyped the escape mode way too much, for what it actually is.

    Was never a fan of Gears series, but this one pleasantly surprised me. Not the best game out there but far from worst.

    TLDR; Overall positive with a few negatives. Only buy on sale, ultimate edition content is not worth it and is bad (for PvE content).

    Campaign: + Can all be done in co-op + Can pick from characters to play + Has collectables / secrets - Empty open world which feels like mostly filler. Doesn't feel like it belongs - Experienced multiple crashes only in campaign - Meh story. Not    TLDR; Overall positive with a few negatives.     + Good choice of accessibility settings
    + Cross play with XB1
    + Regular good updates
    + Hundreds of hours of potential content
    + Lots of achievements

    // Has a system similar to a battlepass
    - Clunky movement and controls. Even after getting used to them and playing for 150+ hours, feels clunky
    - Not the prettiest game
    - Some characters in PvE are just plain bad (namely the Terminator pack ones)
    - Game has so many anger inducing wtf moments where you will get instantly killed or something doesn't work properly

    I mainly bought the game for Horde and Escape which I really enjoy, and have put a lot more hours in than I was expecting.
    The developers regularly update the game, adding new maps, characters and balance changes (pretty much all buffs)
    Also recently added a new currency you can earn in-game quite easily that you can use in the store for cosmetics.

    I would recommend buying this game on sale if you wanted to mostly play Horde or escape with a little of versus or campaign on the side. Bonus points to buy it if you wanted to play the campaign in co-op!    … Expand

    Pretty visuals, solid gunplay, tight pacing and likeable characters. Main issue, much like Gears 4 is the feeling that the stakes and villains are a notable downgrade from the originals. Gears 5 continues the sequel series' failure to capture the hopelessness and grandeur that made the original series so impactful. At least Kait is a better protag compared to JD.

    this game is great, attention to the smallest details, they give you collectibles to show how cool the graphics did the developers, forcing to search all the places on the map, the lighting is amazing, I would like to hug the developers, you are one of the best ✌ this is not just a game - it's another universe..

    The Coalition, thank you for the excellent continuation of the series. The game is good both in graphics and cut-scenes, the plot is interesting to follow, and of course I really liked the shooting - it is simply amazing. The most memorable boss, of course the Matriarch, on high difficulty, he did not let you get bored. We look forward to the next part from you.

    IMO it is really good game. Awesome graphics, good combat part similar to other games but with some surprises. Decent balance on higher difficulties with ok TTK for cover-based shooter. Small RPG aspects there, a lot of map revealing things here. And i really loved the storytelling of this game. Very good usage of game engine for scenes, good character animation, smooth transition fromIMO it is really good game.     I finished game a few days ago I love the story its not perfect but its good.The game mechanics are as it's supposed to be in a shooter.its not perfect buts its a good game.You should play it.
