    When God decided to create life, he created Garry's Mod along side it. It is impossible for anyone in this world to function without this genuine MASTERPIECE of a video game. If you do not have over 400 hours in this game I have no respect for you. Infinite things to do, infinite hours in this game. ((( AVOID DARK RP ))))

    My Opinion: Once you get over the learning curve (My reason for a 9, not 10) this game is quite possibly the best sandbox games ever made, and this is without mods. It’s only competition is Minecraft, and kinda, Roblox (which bares a lot of similarities in its Studio Mode, but I still think Garry’s Mod wins over).
    If this mode wasn’t so expansive, and allowed for so much replayability in    My Opinion: Once you get over the learning curve (My reason for a 9, not 10) this game is quite possibly the best sandbox games ever made, and this is without mods.     If this mode wasn’t so expansive, and allowed for so much replayability in of its self, this game probably only would’ve been a 6 or 7, due to its toxic community. But if you are lucky and get some 16+ people who understand the concept of humor, or you have friends to play with then this is also probably one of the best multiplayer games, but unfortunately, you usually get some 2 year old arguing about FNAF, which isn’t fun. Pros:
    1.) One of the best sandbox modes in a video game ever
    2.) An absolutely amazing modded experience, elevating the game to even higher heights, especially for novice players.
    3.) Amazing potential for multiplayer fun.
    Cons:
    1.) Highly toxic community
    2.) High barrier to entry
    3.) Large amounts of 10-12 populating servers, ruining the fun for everyone else

    Addressing Common Complaints
    I know a lot of negative reviews are from years ago, but the latest version or 2 of Gmod have really improved and made the UI far better, in my opinion. Also people are asking for story in a half sandbox, half multiplayer game, the 2 genres that can get away without the slightest sniff of a story. So shut up. 9/10.    … Expand

    But for real, this game is a pretty good sandbox that is very full of content from the workshop (which might be the one carrying it) I liked playing different game modes, building houses and making a bunch of weird stuff. This game is an absolute must if you are bored, not only is it the best time waster game, but it's also an amazing game in general, it also has this sense of creepiness that makes you more fascinated by it, you can grab stuff from other games and do funky stuff with them, you can do practically anything in this game, thanks to the community, if I had to criticize something is that sometimes the game crashes way to easily or freezes completely, or doesn't run at all, but this is easily avoidable if you have a decent pc… Expand

    Very good game! One thing that would make it amazing though is an update that makes it crash less(Since people have been experiencing crashes on higher quality computers, but not HYPER powerful ones).

    As a person who has spent over four hundred hours in this game, I can say that the game is truly great, and it can hardly get boring to the player, a lot of content in the workshop, a huge number of servers, a colossal SFM community, dupes, saves, maps, it all causes a feeling of joy. But there is one problem.     Garry's mod is that one game where you are allowed to play various of gamemodes such as Sandbox (my favorite by the way) which also brings you entertainment. now I do own gmod on steam and my playtime has almost reached 200 hours. now why did I rate this game 9 Score? well it's because if you play gmod long enough, you start to get bored. still 9 means a good score!

    The game is a fun mod of Half-Life 2 allowing you to create your own environments and customise models from Source engine games. The game allows heavy scripting making a lot of fun custom game modes possible but is mainly a sandbox game. Overall Garry's Mod is a game where you can be creative and have fun but not a game for serious gaming.

    This is a pretty good game. Although I must say, downloading addons can be really annoying at times. The game itself is a great sandbox, being able to manipulate rag dolls and build structures using the Half Life 2 source engine can be a real blast. I have owned the game on three different computers, and played 100+ hours, and there are some things that really annoy me. For one thing, the game allows you to spawn NPC's with weapons, however most of the weapons that the game starts you off with (not addons), don't work. I think that the developers could have done better on this, and while I don't blame them for this, I think that they could have patched it. This game is a very good deal, considering if you own a game that uses the source engine the game is $10 on steam. I would/do recommend it to most of my friends, and I think that the creators did a great job making a fun, creative game.… Expand

    Very very fun sandbox based on the Half Life 2 engine (Source). Now, with mods - you can make movies, funny faces, cool contraptions and so on. Fun! Definitely worth a try for people with imagination or the urge for creativity!

    This game is endlessly fun. I love it with all my heart! Thanks Garry for an awesome game, and all of the LUA errors! This game is great, its just those random things that you can do that gives me a lot of fun. I recommend you buy this game.

The game is also a true sandbox, you can do anything you want, like recreating a scene from a movie or game. The graphics are mostly HL2 level, so they are quite dated but look decent.     There's no possible way to review this game. You must play! This is sandbox, you can do what you want. You must have Source SDK Base. Garry's Mod take maps from other Valve Software games, like Counter-Strike and Half-Life 2.

    I bought this game after following lost in places antics. Hilariously fun, great to mess with people who are playing the game seriously. Im playing on a mac and it works perfectly. Must hsve.

If you don't have counter-strike: source installed, all you see in most lobby's is a bunch of purple-black-checkered textures, and a **** of error signs, which means that these textures/props are used in counter-strike: source, and you can't see or use them if you don't have this game. Many game modes and maps become unplayable this way.
    Even if you do have CS:S installed, you'll still get sick of the lag and loading times. Often when i try to play with friends, it says ''server is not responding'', without any further explanation, and on some servers the loading time is longer than the time you feel like playing on it.

    Despite these flaws, GMod still is a great, fun game, but it can only be fully enjoyed when having CS:S installed, and with a powerful PC.    … Expand

    In all areas of the game it is wonderful seeing all these awesome game modes you can play but I will say that sometimes you run out of game modes to play and it gets a little boring but I will say whenever you play a server over and over It will become easier to join DuH! So I Think this game is a pretty decent game

    You can basically do whatever you want, whenever you want to do it, and however you want it to be done. It's a ton of fun, especially when played with friends. There are almost endless possibilities for this game! The only downside is that a ton of things have to be downloaded if you want to have the most optimal amount of enjoyment. 8/10

    THIS GAME IS GOD. Honestly, if you are bored, just buy Garry's Mod. You'll probably never be bored again, and you'll probably just quit everything in life for GMod.

    I really like TTT and Deathrun. There are some good RPs like Soldier RPs and certain DarkRP servers can be fun. There are tons more gamemodes all varying in how fun and populated they are.

    As of now, the game is fun and packed with people, and it is very social. You should have a mic to enjoy this game most.

    However, server quality is not quite what it use to be. Most types are now variations on RP, and many are very boring grinds. Gmod racer, Minecraftwars and such are gone, which were some of my favourites, and fun game types like football showdown seem to be lowly populated, which I don't get.

    The game is always improving to play locally with friends however, as the amount of mods increases, You can't beat playing this with friends.

    The game has also spawned countless hilarious machinimas and sketches on YouTube- I recommend EthioMods videos. It's an experience, not just a game, and I highly recommend checking lets plays out on YouTube to see if you'd like it. If you like messing about, building or just plain trolling, you'll love this game.

    Final score: 8/10 - Fun but public servers do change in quality, currently pretty good, with things seemingly improving- although it was better in the past.    … Expand

    enormous fun in certain game modes made by people of the community which is fantastic and the sandbox mode is fantastic but the game completely relies on its community and if they were to not like the game it would be dead pretty much instantly as they original game has nothing at all it relies souly on mods.

While the developers don't pay much attention to the game anymore, it still holds up to this day and even has become a tool for some artists. There is almost no limit to what can be done with this game, and it only gets better to enjoy your friends. The only downside to Garry's Mod is that you need to buy games such as Counter Strike Source and the Half Life 2 games in order to access everything (unless you prefer the purple and black checkerboards that occur when you have missing textures and error signs for missing models and other content). Garry's Mod is a fantastic game that I would recommend anyone to try, though its best to play if you get the Garry's Mod/ Counter Strike Source bundle, and have Half Life 2 games already in your Steam Library. I would give this game a 9, but the fact that it relies on you buying other games for its content does hinder its favorability if your not a fan of the Half Life or Counter Strike series.    … Expand

    This is a really good game, but it requires mods to have anything more than 20 minutes of enjoyment. Mods take a long time to download and without knowing about this makes Garry's Mod a very boring game. Still, the fact this game surrendered to the Steam Workshop and benefited majorly is something to admire. 8/10.

    You are paying for only one game. But you are getting infinite games. Dark RP, Prison RP, Star Wars RP, TTT, Murderer... There is to much game mods for this game. You just need CS:S for every single content. You can play horror maps with your friends, or even you can just open flat map, and do some things with your friends. There is no limit.

    I've been playing this game for 5 years and it's still fun but to be honest I've only played Sandbox, Prop Hunt, RP and TTT all other modes I've never really touched.
    Sandbox is fun you can do something like build a base and also fight against other players with weapons (pistols, rifles).
    RP is just the usual roleplay that you also know in games like GTA RP. Prop Hunt is Hide and Seek,    I've been playing this game for 5 years and it's still fun but to be honest I've only played Sandbox, Prop Hunt, RP and TTT all other modes I've never really touched.
    Sandbox is fun you can do something like build a base and also fight against other players with weapons (pistols, rifles).
    RP is just the usual roleplay that you also know in games like GTA RP.
    Prop Hunt is Hide and Seek, only that those who are hiding in this game have to disguise themselves as objects in order not to be discovered, they can move and jump as objects, but the seekers can see these movements, so extreme caution is required when moving as a prop let's talk about the seekers, these are equipped with a crowbar and a pistol and have to search for the players disguised as a prop, but if they shoot at a prop that is not a disguised player, they always suffer 10 KP damage, but if they catch the right one, they lose player blood and is even out in the end and that's how it goes on and on.
    The best mode with the most replay value is still Trouble in Terrorist Town, or TTT for short, although I have to say that this mode is 1000 times more fun with over 10 people than with less.
    In this mode there are innocents, detectives and traitors the goal for the innocents and the detectives is to find and kill all the traitors the same goal the traitors have only that they have to kill the innocents and detectives there is nothing more to say here except that the detectives and the traitor shops have to buy special weapons or other equipment that gives them an advantage.
    The graphics don't appeal to me that much now in 2022 but you shouldn't judge a book by its cover because the content counts more and you can see that very well in Gmod.
    I ran it in the summer sale in 2017 for €5 rounded up and after 5 years with a playing time of 387 hours I still haven't regretted it.
    Gmod especially with the game mode TTT are in my eyes still a reason to sit down for a few hours and just enjoy it I hope I will have fun with this game for a long time    … Expand

    Gmod is an extremely enjoyable game to play. This game is designed for community generated content and is what games the game enjoyable. There's also any multi-player servers which contain classic game modes like prop hunt.
    Overall, I think the game is amazing.

    This Game is a text-book example, of a great sandbox game. This game has a great online community, and a fantastic modding scene. There is so much content for this game and just some much you can do. If you can think of something, from building a house, or making a funny scene, you can do it. all I can say is, Play It. it's a great time, and I bet you will enjoy it, just don't alt-tab.

If your skilled enough you may make one too. But above that, the game mode that in my opinion that stands out the most is Trouble in Terrorist Town.     Es un juego muy complicado para descargar los mods y poder invitar, me parece lamentabe que el juego no traiga todas las texturas de sus escenarios, deberia ser así, por tanto es iincompleto. De todas formas es divertido y entretenido (si juegas con amigos) sobretodo el modo pro hunt, es una panzá de reir!! lo recomiendo.

    It is true that you can have a lot of fun, especially with friends. But if you don't want to play RP, there isn't really that many people playing on the other servers. It is a good game but right now most of its playerbase is on RP servers.

    the game is very nice to play but no longer for now, or just not in my region. The servers are partly abandoned. The game is an casual sandbox that features multiplayer. there's few nice gamemodes introduced by another players but it's just it. However I recommend to hit it with a group of friends but it's nothing amazing.

    This game cost 3 $. But you need CS:S and DOD:S to have no errors and missing textures.
    Which makes this game 13$.

    Great game with a wide variety of activities and creativity. Pretty fun experience with endless amounts of mods. But there's a downside to the 'endless amounts of mods'; when joining a server, you're almost always downloading. Downloading, downloading, more downloading. You could be loading a server for 30 **** minutes, or over - it really pisses me off.

They are extremely user unfriendly and frustrating as basic actions such as properly placing someone in a chair became a ridiculous comedy of errors.
    And then there's a drastic reduction in the quality of graphics and framerate from the same exact objects/characters/etc of a game that I had on the same exact laptop I was using. Normally, I am very tolerant with graphics. Now I know where the line is drawn, as some words on the walls couldn't even be read. As for the framerate, well, it's hard to actually play a game when it takes about three minutes to take a few steps. It gets this way when you have a group of objects or npcs in the map, making your options more limited.
    Then there's the dreaded purple and black squares on all the textures. If you don't buy the games that many textures, objects, etc require then you basically have these massive eyesores everywhere you look or big ERROR text. Nothing like ending up paying even more money (and a lot at that) just to play the same game, right?
    Now, the obvious question, "Why don't you ask the community?" "Get a better computer!" My computer is fine and I have looked on the boards, I have asked questions and the community was... less than friendly...
    There may be a lot of opportunity in Garry's Mod, but a litany of problems make it a very frustrating and obstructive experience. I was unable to find much that made me want to actually keep playing.    … Expand

    Gmod is just crap. None of the gamemodes are fun, TTT is a mess and the terrorists are way too underpowered, prop hunt is way too hard (lose health when you shoot) and murder is just lame. Building is complicated and not fun for casual gamers like me and ones who are bad at most games. I just hate it. Don't get it
