May 14, 2026Horizon’s sixth entry is such a triumph on almost every conceivable level that it’s difficult to imagine how Playground will be able to refine the series’ quality further than it already has. Barring wonky building systems that, thankfully, can be completely ignored, this isn’t just the quintessential Horizon game. Playground’s newest racer sets the benchmark for fun-first racing that’s almost obsessive in how accessible it makes itself to any type of player without anything getting lost in translation. Playground has spent 16 years refining Horizon’s formula into something remarkably frictionless, and Horizon 6 feels like the first time every piece fully clicks into place. Forza Horizon 6 doesn’t just bring the series to Japan. It finally brings Horizon home after a journey that started in Colorado, and the result is one of the best racing games of all time.
-
May 14, 2026By the sixth lap, there’s no stopping Playground Games. With Forza Horizon 6, the studio proves once again that they are perfectly comfortable behind the wheel of the franchise. This virtual rendition of Japan is a true treasure trove, packed with toys to collect, vistas to admire, and plenty of rubber to burn—guaranteed to please both arcade racing enthusiasts and fans of more detailed simulations.
-
May 14, 2026In a lot of ways, this is my ideal video game. Becoming one with the controller and the vehicle in a drop-dead-gorgeous setting that essentially never runs out of content? It’s almost perfect, and I think it’s fair to use that word for the craft that is on display in Forza Horizon 6.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 doesn’t reinvent the formula, but instead takes everything the series has refined over the years and pushes it to an absurdly high new level with a phenomenal Japanese setting, stunning next-gen presentation, and a practically endless amount of content and activities.
-
May 14, 2026Thanks to better presentation than ever before and revamped progression systems, Forza Horizon 6 comfortably takes the mantle as the best open-world driving game ever made.
-
May 14, 2026It would be easy to say that Forza Horizon 6 is simply the best version of itself so far, and leave it at that, but that undersells what it truly achieves. It is an accumulation of its past five iterations, but somehow remains light on its feet. It’s a game that understands spectacle without becoming hollowed out by it. For a series about driving fast, its real achievement is teaching you to notice what you are passing through and stopping to admire it.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 5 was already an exceptional racing game, but Forza Horizon 6 takes everything up a notch to deliver an even more engaging, entertaining and all-encompassing experience. There's an absolute wealth of racing, exploring and collecting to do here, and that's before the inevitable live-service updates start adding even more content. Few games are as essential as this.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 takes the series to Japan and delivers the most polished Horizon experience yet. The massive open world mixes Tokyo-inspired streets, mountain roads and countryside areas with a stronger progression system that makes the game feel closer to an RPG than ever before. Driving remains incredibly fun, the events are varied, and exploration constantly feels rewarding. On PC, the visuals are stunning with excellent performance overall, while the soundtrack and atmosphere perfectly capture the spirit of Japanese car culture. More importantly, the game launched in a remarkably polished state, making it hard to stop playing once the festival opens up. Forza Horizon 6 is easily one of the best racing games of this generation.
-
May 14, 2026Despite [a] handful of quibbles, I still find Forza Horizon 6 to be an utter joy. Drifting down lush mountainous woodlands to a stunningly radiant coastal fishing village while Rydeen plays is an absolutely singular experience.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 takes the Horizon formula to its most ambitious point yet. Japan is a perfect fit for the series, delivering a far more varied, vertical, and character-rich map than previous entries. Playground Games doesn’t reinvent the franchise, but it successfully addresses several of its most noticeable shortcomings with a better-structured progression system, a more engaging open world, and stunning audiovisual presentation.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 refines a well-established formula with remarkable confidence. Its Japan-inspired map, driving freedom, and accessibility make it highly enjoyable, even if it takes few risks compared to previous entries. Even so, its execution remains so polished and entertaining that it continues to stand as one of the genre’s benchmarks and among the very best titles of 2026.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 is the best entry in the series. Playground Games delivers a stunning open-world Japan, packed with density, verticality and personality, while the return of the wristband progression system gives the campaign real weight. Event variety hits new heights with mecha races, food delivery challenges and the best rallies the franchise has ever seen, all backed by the most ambitious soundtrack in Horizon history. It is iterative rather than transformative, and the usual issues remain (cosmetic damage, robotic dialogue, weak narrative), but the formula has never been this polished. An arcade racing masterpiece and an essential Game Pass day-one.
-
May 14, 2026A stunning car adventure that tears through its Japanese location with style and panache, Forza Horizon 6 won’t offer many surprises, but it is still best in class when it comes to a car-focused title for everyone.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 takes the franchise in a new direction on the back of stunning graphics, thrilling races, and a massive roster of cars. The cities of Japan will find a way to keep you engaged even if you're tired of roaming the streets. The campaign is an improvement with the introduction of the wristbands, which adds a lot of purpose to the grind. Every unlocked car and won race adds a sense of accomplishment that I found missing in Horizon 5. All the game needs now is some exciting post-launch content, fun live-service races, and cool new cars to add to our garage.
-
May 14, 2026Although Forza Horizon 6 relies on the series' familiar formula, it perfectly captures the romance of JDM culture against a stunning Japanese backdrop. It successfully introduces thoughtful guides for beginners while refining the driving physics to satisfy sim racing fans as well. As an exceptional all-rounder that will thrill racing enthusiasts, it stands as the ultimate evolution of the arcade racing genre.
-
May 14, 2026Quotation forthcoming.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 is magnificent. It’s everything we could have hoped for, finally bringing the open world racing experience of Forza Horizon to the Asian setting.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 shines bringing the most wanted chapter of the franchise: Japan. Playground Games still reigns with a game full of content and possibilities.
-
May 14, 2026While the Forza Horizon series could be criticized for treading water, there’s no denying the effectiveness of Playground Games’ formula, which is at its peak in this sixth installment: the Japan of FH6 is stunning, rich, and a joy to explore. Without even trying, it has become the new gold standard for arcade racing games—a position previously held by Forza Horizon 5.
-
May 14, 2026Boasting a gorgeous map that’s filled with delights, slick racing, and some incredible single and multiplayer events, Forza Horizon 6 has, for the most part, iterated for the better. Though lacking vehicle customization holds it back, it is a near-perfect celebration not only of Japanese racing culture, but racing itself that espouses the joy of being behind the wheel. It’s a highly polished jack-of-all-trades fiesta, and very nearly a master of all.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 plays it safe in almost every aspect. Whether that's a good or a bad thing depends on whether you enjoyed the previous entries in the series, and whether or not you were hoping for something new. The rural areas of the map are a delight, but the city of Tokyo left me feeling disappointed with its relatively bland depiction and empty streets. The cars are still great fun to drive, with a huge showing from Japanese manufacturers this time around, and exploration is as rewarding as ever.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 is another excellent entry in an excellent series, from an excellent developer. Part of me wants more than that, but I've no idea how that would work.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 delivers the long-awaited Japan setting, fulfilling a fan dream and elevating the series. It's lauded as the best entry yet, boasting the most dense, diverse, and visually stunning map, particularly Tokyo's urban sprawl. The game celebrates Japanese car culture with over 550 vehicles, a new used car market, and a focus on discovery.
-
May 14, 2026Ever the safe driver when it comes to gaming, Playground Games rev their engines on yet another Forza Horizon experience that is both safe and still committed to racing ahead at the pace of good game development. Like the country that it visits on this road trip, Forza Horizon 6 is structured, ordered, and nearly accident free.
-
May 14, 2026A gorgeous and content-packed open-world racer that perfectly captures the spirit of Japan. Forza Horizon 6 may not reinvent the series, but Playground Games once again delivers one of the best arcade racing experiences on the market.
-
May 14, 2026Fans’ long-held wish for a Japan setting has finally come true. Forza Horizon 6 remains the ultimate racing entertainment experience, just as the series always has been. Its well-established formula can occasionally feel too familiar, but there’s no denying it remains an almost perfect playground for racing fans.
-
May 14, 2026Ultimately, Forza Horizon 6 is an excellent game that lets you have fun without overthinking anything. There’s a huge amount to do solo, the multiplayer offers an almost limitless lifespan, and the energy carried by the Festival’s positive atmosphere genuinely feels good. While waiting for the PlayStation 5 version, expected later this year, we hope the Xbox and PC community will show up, because the game truly deserves it. The Japan of Forza Horizon 6 is waiting for you.
-
May 14, 2026Yes, the familiar formula at the heart of the game is still very much intact. At times, it even makes you think that you've played this before. But once you start speeding beneath Tokyo’s neon lights or weaving through the chaos of the Shuto Expressway, that feeling quickly fades away.
-
May 14, 2026A magnificent racing game—but one that rests on the laurels of its predecessors.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 brilliantly captures the magic of Japan, yet it heavily relies on it. By staying in its comfort zone, the game misses many opportunities to innovate. While it is a great experience, it still feels more like a new location than a real step forward.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 is a fantastic game that we’ve really enjoyed, and we know we’ll keep going back to it, but we expected more after almost five years since its predecessor was released. We believe the series deserves more ambition and creativity, and not only a new map and some QoL features.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 offers a vast, beautiful open-world environment that perfectly captures the essence of Japan. There’s plenty to do here, but unfortunately, it doesn’t represent a major leap forward in terms of gameplay.
-
May 14, 2026It's another Forza Horizon, for all its faults, but also its many, many triumphs. Forza Horizon 6 isn't an ambitious sequel, but its version of Japan is still a joy to race through.
-
May 14, 2026I want to stress one thing: I’ve had lots of fun with Forza Horizon 6. It certainly does enough to satisfy newcomers. But veterans of the series will assuredly feel a sense of grating deja vu with the Horizon Festival. Japan is dense and technically impressive. Vehicles are stunning. And there are hundreds of hours of content to chase if you're so inclined. The core driving is also better than it's ever been. Though, for anyone hoping Japan would inspire Playground Games to evolve this series beyond its comfort zone, Forza Horizon 6 is a missed opportunity. I’ve loved my time in Japan, I just wish I wasn’t there for another lame festival.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 is fun and well-optimized. It is the perfect escape to explore and unwind from other games, but Playground Games played it safe, as it lacked that major graphical leap we saw from Forza Horizon 4 to 5 to fully take advantage of current platforms. It is very entertaining with plenty of content, but it leaves the feeling that it could have delivered a much more impactful experience in Japan with all those new activities and stunning scenery.
-
May 14, 2026At its core it is a racing game, no matter how many exploration elements and fun collectibles they hide on side streets. That being said, Playground has put an immense amount of effort into creating a love letter to Japan and its iconic car scene, something that car enthusiasts have been waiting for far too long.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 is, without a doubt, a fantastic racing game. By bringing back the sense of progression and achievement that the series lost in its fifth installment, along with Japan’s captivating landscapes, an incredible selection of cars, and a sound design that’s a real treat for the ears, it offers an experience that will keep you glued to your seat for hours. However, if you’re expecting a revolution, you might be disappointed. The formula established by Forza Horizon 5—and even 4—works almost exactly the same way here. Rather than feeling like you’re playing an entirely new game, what we have is a well-polished, refined sequel adorned with a Japanese theme.
-
May 14, 2026If what you come to Horizon for is a space to live out your fantasies of collecting cars and driving them around stunning, real-world-inspired locations, there is simply no game that does it better. But if you wanted a little more from Forza Horizon 6; a bit of an edge or some rewarding friction, you should look elsewhere.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 is a gorgeous open-world game that is as much about racing as it is about taking a virtual vacation. Moving the series to Japan is an overdue high note, giving players the best map to date, while the hundreds of cars once again look and feel incredible, no matter the type or terrain. The customization options and an obsession with showering you in positive stimuli make every mile feel worthwhile, but if you're very familiar with the series, you might agree that some of the formula has become predictable by now. There's still lots of tread on these tires, though, and it's enough to make Forza Horizon 6 another joy ride in the most adaptable and enjoyable racing series out there.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 is a gorgeous open-world racer that absolutely sells the fantasy of driving through Japan, from winding mountain passes to neon-lit streets packed with cars worth obsessing over. The presentation is top-tier, the customization systems are deeper than ever, and there’s still a ton of fun to be had cruising around with friends, but underneath all of that, the game feels a little too comfortable repeating the same Horizon formula. The campaign quickly falls into familiar patterns, and despite finally bringing the series to Japan, it barely scratches the surface of the underground drift and street racing culture that made this setting so exciting in the first place. It’s still one of the best arcade racers out there, but longtime fans may come away wanting more than just another beautiful map and a recycled checklist of activities.
-
May 14, 2026Forza Horizon 6 is a great game if you want more Forza Horizon. The setting of Japan and culture that is infused into every inch of the game makes for a worthwhile experience, even if some parts of the experience leave you feeling out of gas.
-
May 14, 2026I’m as captivated as I am frustrated by Forza Horizon 6. It’s still the best open-world racing game on the market and I intend to spend hundreds of hours playing it – but after a four-year wait and significant competition, I was expecting more innovation. It’s simply more of the same, just on a fresh and beautiful map.

May 14, 2026The car roster, while as heavy on familiar holdovers as Horizon games always are, has plenty of quirky new Japanese faces to take for a spin, plus the latest models from all the major brands it stocks. It’s true no matter whether you’re pounding around in a Mercedes-AMG One as I was in the intro, pulling up at Daikoku in a Nissan S-Cargo, or drifting a modified Impreza down a mountain. Unless you’re a seasoned petrolhead looking for something to satisfy a particular niche, Horizon 6 is the new king of the road.
