This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To put it bluntly, Security Breach is certainly fun and a very promising addition to the FNAF franchise, however it often falls short of the final hurdle in alot of confusing areas.

Aside from Freddy and Gregory the lore of the games characters, and the overall story as a whole, feels slightly underwhelming. Vanny, set up in trailers to be the game's main and most threatening antagonist, is barely involved in the plot outside of a cutscene and a brief escape event. For me at least this left endings involving her unsatisfying, as I simply didn't feel she was the threat the game wants me to associate her as. It leads me to wonder if this was how she was meant to be implemented, or whether a large amount of her story had to be cut to keep a 2021 release date plausible. This also feels like the case for the inclusion of William Afton/Springtrap, the series' arching Villian. His character appears seemingly out of nowhere, is involved in a brief boss fight in which he isn't really the main threat to Gregory, and then is presumably killed in a cutscene before the game ends. Again, a little underwhelming.

This is a problem with alot of seemingly important game elements. Vanessa, hyped to be an aid to Gregory as she battles over control over her body with Afton, is really just a shoe horned in antagonist. ALOT of her trailer dialogue is missing, which implied that she would be trying to help Gregory escape. A few trailer cutscenes are also seemingly gone from the game. This may be the reason why Vanny is also missing from a large chunk of the plot. She feels like an unfinished character whom they had to practically scrap from the lore to, again, make sure the game released in 2021.

More issues with the game include a heavy amount of game breaking glicthes and bugs. Softlocks can be a frequent occurrence, which is truly frustrating when you consider the game forces you to be unable to save at certain points. Animatronics appear where they shouldn't be, backtracking can break your game entirely at times, and doing anything the way the game doesn't want you to can cause it to freak out and break. Whilst I truly understand that, especially during a pandemic, a small team would struggle to iron out all of these issues; in my opinion a game delayed for over a year really shouldn't ship with this many GAME BREAKING bugs. Small bugs are very understandable. I can't say the same for an abundance of bugs that render the game unplayable.

Other smaller nitpicks include: Maps not being labelled, the map itself being too large and clunky making it easy to get lost, sometimes it is difficult to know what exactly you are meant to do allowing for a lot of time just looking around, and you only gain the power to see Unlockables anywhere on the map AFTER the game doesn't allow you to save, making finding and collecting them useless if you die, which can be frustrating.

I'd be lying however if I stated that I didn't have a blast playing this game. Gameplay is fun and addicting (outside of that dreaded Maze Puzzle), Boss battles were always a delight, and the game always left you craving more (which hurt more considering it falls short at the end).

Environments look stunning at best and pretty good at worst. The pizza plex itself has a vibrant and colourful motif that fits its atmosphere perfectly. Framerate did tend to be an issue at times, but it was only noticeable for brief moments outside of actual lag. The FazerBlast area in particular looks so cool, I'm shocked it ran so well for me considering how bright and flashy it becomes.

A final positive is the games mechanics. It felt rewarding to collect the FazCam and blaster in order to stun animatronics, and they felt like a good progression to have as you keep playing. Hiding from animatronics is always intense and their speed is genuinely frightening at times. Freddy in particular is perfectly implemented. He essentially works as a get out of jail free card for the majority of the game, but his power runs out quite quickly (and he will attack you if it runs out), balancing him well. It, again, feels rewarding to upgrade him as the story progresses and unlock secret optional areas. The way he interacts with Gregory is also really well done, although I do wish a bigger explanation was given as to why he is the only animatronic willing to be friendly to the player.

Overall, this game has a lot of problems, but is otherwise a good time. Id definitely recommend picking it up if you are a FNAF fan, but the games lore might be confusing if not. All I can hope for is patches for the bugs, and some dlc to give the story an expansion it deserves (and needs).

The latest installment of FNAF's is something I've wanted since the 4th game, with that being said, I feel like there were some missed opportunities here, while also kind of a degrade in the fear factor.

I don't care for how articulate the animations are now, but if you HAD to do that, why didn't you add creative interactions with the other animatronics when you were playing as Freddy?
The latest installment of FNAF's is something I've wanted since the 4th game, with that being said, I feel like there were some missed opportunities here, while also kind of a degrade in the fear factor.

I don't care for how articulate the animations are now, but if you HAD to do that, why didn't you add creative interactions with the other animatronics when you were playing as Freddy? They just kind of wander around and mumble.

While I enjoy the IDEA of what they were trying to do here, it just doesn't feel right. I have always personally felt like Five Nights at Freddy's was first and foremost about horror, that and the story and lore.

I don't know if I can actually call this a survival horror game, because I don't personally feel it's all that scary or horrifying. There's something different about it where most of the time, nothing in this game feels intimidating.

Did a few jump scares "get" me once or twice? Sure, that happens when stuff jumps up in your face and screams, but after the first few times, that's it, it's just annoying.

Honestly, this feels like 90% walking simulator. They do some stuff to try and liven it up, they give you a gun you can shoot some of the enemies to stun them, you can walk around safe inside Freddy, whatever. I can appreciate that, but it isn't enough.

I mean honestly, having to constantly upgrade security badges? Boss fights involving you walking around in a maze in the dark? Really? Another thing is, why are most of the fights just mazes? Really? Come on. This is all padding because the reality is, the game itself is very, very short. I saw a YouTuber complete the game in a little over two hours.

But most importantly, it left me feeling completely unsatisfied. SteelWool had the chance here to really flesh out the story and the series given what they were working with and I personally feel like they didn't do enough. I think part of the issue for me was, they have this huge building for your to explore, but it feels like there isn't much to do, the game is mostly empty and barren.

That isn't even discussing the technical problems people have been having. There's been plenty of reports of people being unable to simply play the game, other folks are having issues with terrible frame rates, lost saves, all sorts of stuff. I personally haven't had problems with that, what I have had problems with is enemies being able to see and grab me behind walls and other objects.

Some people have said they are considering DLC. Unless there're some promises here to do some awesome stuff, I'm not buying anymore.

I really, really hope this product isn't an indicator of what we can expect from the movie if it ever comes out, if so, maybe this cash cow has finally run out of milk.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just wanted to start off by saying I'm highly disappointed in the game. Over the years the trailers hyped up and promised so much just to be brought down but I mostly want to talk about the one thing that was a major let down for me.

    Vanny.

After the Halloween Dlc for help wanted came out, Vanny was revealed to shift the game into a new era as the new villain. Picking up where William left off under his control. Now try telling me that Vanny wasn't in one of the game promotions. Vanny was hyped up so much in each and every trailer and promotion. Her voice lines in the trailers: PERFECT. Her visuals in trailers: PERFECT. The tension and chills made everyone excited to go up against this antagonist. But what do we get: Almost every single voice line cut off from the trailer and only seeing her for 5 minutes max. She just felt like an animatronic instead of the main antagonist. The only time she was actually a thrilling threat was in just one ending cutscene. As for the rest of the endings, it was extremely underwhelming.

Not only that, but Vanessa, the person trying to fight her counterpart and help Gregory escape, was cut off. She was just a pain in the butt out for Gregory as well and the only good in her was when you got the good ending, whereas you set her free and even that was underwhelming because she was barely highlighted through out the whole game. I'm going to do another review about other aspects of the game but this deserved a review alone.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Alright, let me make this clear. I have NOT played the game and inferring from the fact that people who have advanced gaming setups can barely run this game, I don't think I can. Security Breach is rushed, broken and tedious. I will admit this, this game clearly had some effort put into it, and I do think Steel Wool cares about FNaF, but this was WAY too big for them. They should have decreased the size of the project, or just delayed it a bit longer, they didn't need to release it now.

Before we continue, let's address the problems the other reviews have, be it from Steam or this platform. The game's save points are annoyingly scarce, and the game straight up turns them off for the last leg of the game, who let that idea pat the brainstorming process and into the game? The game is very boring, most of the tasks are just get an item that might be important in the long run. The AI has the IQ of cardboard, they easily get distracted, and lose interest when you turn a corner. I'll admit, Roxy's lunge and Monty's immunity to the Faz Cam and Fazer Blast are kind of cool, but most of the time, Chica is the one chasing you. Vanny and Vanessa. Vanny, as you've heard a billion times, barely shows up in game, and Vanessa, someone who was heard trying to help Gregory in the trailer, is another shoehorned antagonist.

Now for the stuff I hate. The lore. OH GOD, THE LORE. You know the FNaF 6 ending, the one where Henry sacrificed himself to burn all the remaining trapped souls? That means nothing now. ABSOLUTLY NOTHING. The Glitchtrap virus, which should've stayed as a virus, was reincarnated as William's corpse, while Molten Freddy, now known as The Blob, survived the fire by assimilating other animatronics, including Baby and The Puppet, the other two that were supposed to be free. But don't worry! They both show up (Afton and The Blob) in a three minute boss fight that ends with William burning AGAIN.

Back to gameplay, the Staff Bots. they're annoying as **** There is a billon of them around each area, and if one happens to spot you, not only will you get a cheap jumpscare, but a random animatronic will be teleported to your location and possibly kill you and send all the way back to a save point which may be MILES away from your objective. The animatronics can teleport by themselves too.

There are so many bugs that I can't even address all of them in one review, but they include: The Daycare Attendant getting stuck for no reason, softlocks, time travel bugs (You can be sent back hours, go ask Phisnom) and the list goes on and on.

And Freddy? OP as **** hiding in his chest prevent almost every animatronic from seeing you. The battery lasts a lot longer that you might think, and he's gonna get even more powerful as you upgrade him.

This ain't even all the complaints, but I'm trying to keep this review below the character limit. These bugs may be actively being patched, but the damage has already been done. I am a huge fan of the FNaF series, but I can't recommend this game.

    Don't buy this game.
Even with the latest patch, the game is still a slugfest of framerates issues and game breaking bugs. It was clearly released incomplete to sell for Christmas and is still full of glitches 5 months later.

What made FNAF different and it's charm was always the fast and precise multitasking, which there is some very short part in-game but are also completely buggy. All else is being pursued in a mall by teleporting animatronics in fortnight graphic style.

It also really feel like that game story had been rewritten in last minute to try to be surprising, and instead being boring and non-sensical, like a last season of GoT. The game is beautifully colored, which remove even more to the horror that should be there. In fact, I would even say that there isn't any horror element unless you are under 10 years old, which seems to be the target public.

Don't buy this game, don't condone SteelWool and this kind of rip-off, and if you are a FNAF fan, just watch a walk through and wait 6 month after release next time.

Not only that, but the game fails entirely at being Scary. I’ve seen some argue that the game is “not meant to be scary”. Are you kidding me? The game about dead kids being stuffed into animatronics is not meant to be scary? The jump scares are laughable, and the only part I genuinely felt a little but of discomfort was during the daycare mission. Sadly, that’s at the very beginning of the game and nothing like that mission appears anywhere else throughout the rest of it. From a lore standpoint (yes, I watch matpat’s videos on the fnaf series) it is incredibly frustrating, as one of the most ambitious instalments of the franchise leaves more questions than answers.

Vanny, who is shown to be one of the main antagonists throughout the game, is so under-utilised it’s frustrating. Freddy (while I love the dad vibes I get from him), just gets removed from the story in certain situations for very stupid reasons (ie. him not being able to visit the dj music man area because he says he’ll just start busting a move).

This game in general upsets me. I was super hype for this game but it was just way too ambitious and rushed. In my humble opinion, this franchise should lie in the horror genre. So many fnaf fan games and media (YouTube) shows how this franchise has so much potential to be truely horrifying. But sadly steel wool has just tried to lean towards the kids more which is where a lot of my frustrations come from. A lot of media tries to lean towards kids way too much even though they could benefit from aiming for a higher age group.

Look, in the end dlc could make this game good. Heck it could make it an actual scary game. But it’s just sad that we had to wait this long for a good game. But I’m still hoping that we can get that scary game steel wool was envisioning. Looking forward to fnaf plus though. That fan game is actually looking quite scary.

What's wrong with the major releases this year?
When did all studios simultaneously said, "screw this", and released these half-baked, half-assed games? GTA definitive Edition, Cyberpunk 2077, Call of Duty Vanguard, Battlefield 2042, Far Cry 6, and now this. After so many delays, I knew I was in for a bad ride.

The game, however, isn't that bad. I can clearly see the effort put on it, but it severely lacks any sort of polishing whatsoever. The interface, the framerate, the stealth mechanics, The mini-games; everything has this vibe that was rushed and not tested enough. Everything is so rough around the edges that I don't find hard to believe someone already found fifteen speedrun strats in these last 24 hours. And to be honest, the hype of a FNAF game kind of did this game dirty.

It's useless to get to horror aspects, because everyone is scared of a certain thing. If you're a fan, then you're already in touch with Squimpus and all the other analog horror geniuses, and these things don't scare you enough. I myself always found the fact that we don't see animatronics move around to be the selling point of FNAF for me. It gives them this supernatural feeling; even being giant robots in costumes, they can be there in a blink and are unpredictable. Seeing them move around in these well-lit areas kind of killed this aspect for me. Perhaps having this notion of being powerless to fight back in a chase would scare you, but I can't say that's for everyone.

For me, the absolute worse part of this game was the area design, and specially now that I played for a second time. It's no joke that Markiplier lost an hour, in two separate occasions, just because it wasn't well specified where to go. And worst of all, the scouts that roundup the area. I don't know why have those instead of just making the animatronics smarter, or making more animatronics. They serve no purpose other than just reducing your framerate. Most times I just rushed right past them, because **** it if they catch me, right? I can just outrun any animatronic, turn a corner and they'll lose track of me. And later in the game I can just ignore them completely thanks to upgrades and items. It's just flawed design.

Well then, should you buy this game? I don't really know. Even now, I cannot see how fixing the bugs would make this game any better, so you might as well taste it now or wait for when the price goes down by 80%. Was it worth the wait? not really. Would I recommend it? no. Specially with so many good and similar horror games to play for free, I don't see why you would pay 76 bucks for a product that rides on the fame of its name. In fact, there are fan games that aren't much alike in quality and gameplay, and I believe they can bring you an equal or better experience.

So yeah. You take the blue pill, and believe whatever Markiplier or Matpat want you to believe. Or you take the red pill, and maybe you can see for yourself if this review is wrong or right. The choice is yours.

As a fan of the franchise since it first started, here is my unbiased review of the game.

In terms of story and design, I love it. The story is fun, I like the characters, and all the of the environments and animatronics look fantastic. If I were a kid I would want to spend every day in this building. I also enjoy the open environment, as it adds a fresh air to the franchise as a whole.

It is clear to me that the devs care about the IP and plan to add more to the game over time.

    Now for the rough stuff.

The game is FILLED with game breaking bugs. At the moment, one of the endings is completely inaccessible on PS5 because when you try to complete a task to unlock it, it softlocks your game. Additionally, the S.T.A.F.F. bots run at a lower frame rate than the rest of the game. I can’t tell if this is intentional, because they honestly seem like they were added as an afterthought anyways, a solution to the fact that the animatronics couldn’t always find you in order to balance out the game (which they do, until there’s so many of them you can barely move).

The game is unforgiving to say the least, with very few places to save and very little (if any) guidance on new gameplay mechanics and where to go. If you enjoy a challenge, that’s great. For me, it ends in a vicious cycle: I end up being overly cautious, spending copious amounts of time plotting my next move only to be caught by something out of my control and lose 30 minutes of progress, to then being impatient and reckless after my respawn as I grow tired of playing the same, dull section over and over again.

I want to enjoy this game, but my playthrough has grown sour. It feels to me as though many sections of the game were rushed in development, repetitive, and only added to fill time. I hope the devs fix the many glaring issues with this game before moving to add more content because it desperately needs fixing.

This game has to be one of the worst Five Nights at Freddy's games ever made. Scott should have stopped with Fnaf 6 as the true ending of this franchise (and to make matters worse, this game was delayed TWICE and it STILL feels like it was made in the last minute and that's on top of all the disaster releases of this year including Call of Duty Vanguard, Sonic Colors Ultimate (which I already reviewed), Zelda Skyward Sword HD, GTA Definitive Edition, Battlefield 2042 and many more).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To start off you should definitely avoid bias reviews of this game. The FNAF fanbase is notorious for being a loyal lap dog to FNAF to the point that when anything is released it will be met with praise. Even FNAF world a lazy and rushed RPG was met with "Overwhelming Positive" reviews on (release)Steam despite the creator themselves admitting to it's shallowness on 2 occasions. It's the same here. Countless reviews on Steam recommending the game despite having half an hour on the game, so whilst this game will seem great based on reviews...it's just FNAF fans eating it up.

In terms of the game let's make it quick. Stealth is shallow, it tells you when you are in the clear and is easy to execute. Lazy designed and incredibly rushed. There isn't depth of challenge.

In terms of core gameplay, it's just simple run away mechanics from most enemies in most areas, which the enemies themselves conviently teleport across the Pizzaplex when you enter most new areas. This worked in previous games as you never saw them move but now that they do it makes you wonder "how do they follow me so quickly?".

Some parts are good like the weeping endos but they are short lived.

In terms of story it treads old ground that was already finished. FNAF 6's story was finished but it was retreaded just to have a lazy designed Afton boss fight.

Vanny, not even going to talk about. Barely in the game and barely a Villian which would be fine if she wasn't hyped up as th e new Afton.

Really bad and nothing new. Not to mention the awful optimizations.

Lots of loading/lag spikes comparable to the original Half Life, and some of the textures look like they might be 32x32 because they just look terrible. The game's art style looks a bit like the EA Plants vs Zombies games, and it is way less fitting for FNAF than the more realistic style present in the other games.

Overall it looks bad enough that it could run on switch, but struggles to run on PC. It doesn't help that half of the fanbase is going to defend it, evident by the fact that there are already positive steam reviews with like 10 minutes of playtime.

As far as the gameplay goes, you run around the map while animatronics teleport around you for ~11 hours. It is very uninteresting and I nearly dropped it several times while playing, which is a first for this series (excluding custom night ofc)

Overall, I think that Steel Wool really does care about the series, but this game was not ready to be released on 3 different platforms, let alone finish polishing it for 1. If you want a better fnaf game to be hyped for, wait for Candy's 4 or the new Popgoes.

Average story (it had potential to be the best ever FNAF game in terms of story, but we got what we've got), decent graphics (not considering visual bugs) and TONS of an techinical bugs which spoil the immersion.

Truly sad how a game delayed this much can be such an utter glitch fest, the game itself is mediocre and these type of games shouldn't be given a pass if we want better games in the future

The game looks like a fortnite update. Honestly, and the graphics are not very good. And the gameplay component is difficult to understand. The cameras look shabby. As well as screamers and animatronics. More bugs than in the GTA trilogy

The game is unfinished, from the countless bugs to the terrible performance and lag spikes this game should have not been released this early.

DLSS/RTX is just broken and performance is absolute garbage when enabled, even when disabled the game experiences large loading lag spikes for no apparent reason. Hardlocks and Softlocks are common in this game as doing something out of order

Hardlocks and Softlocks are common in this game as doing something out of order or completing something may not work and make the game uncompletable.

Textures not loading correctly/pixelated low resolution issues occur commonly.

AI/NPC are a problem too, security bots (one with flashlights) will detect you even if they don't see you or get to close and will snap to you and do a crap jumpscare. Including the main animatronics that will teleport to you if one is alarmed which is fustrating.

I would not recommend this game in its current state and would hold off until its ether fixed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Great game generaly. It's really fun to play. But it has a lot of bugs and some of them are game-breaking. And also it isn't scary at all, even though it's a horror game. But I had a good time playing it.

Awesome game, i know he has s lot's of bugs, but i wish the developers will be fix it, the hiding from animatronics and the procedural your way it's awesome! But i can't rate it for 10, because the game has not very good optimization and the regional price in Russia, when the game must be cost the 3300 rub, but on start he cost 700, anyway the game is good

i like the sort of massive, open, sterile, mall environment i think. something about empty malls in general, i guess, tends to elicit for me some cool feeling of mystery and creepiness

i think the game was rushed in some sense, and i believe most people who developed the game might agree with that. i dont think many people will enjoy this game, and i guess i kind of generally recommend

My only concerns about the game are the way the lore was built, the game doesn't give you almost no information of what's going on, it feels you are running in the shadows in a negative way. The lack of map information in such a huge map also messes up the gameplay, you will get lost very often, and finally, the optimization and glitches that frequently occur.
Despite that, Steel Wool did an amazing job and it's really clear to see how they put their effort, it those problems above end up being fixed, Security Breach will be an even more grateful experience for players.

Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach tries to convince with his new gameplay mechanics but doesn't achieve this in the most parts. The only really horrible things are the bugs and the game could be so much better with more development time.

Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breach is the newest addition to the fans' favourite indie survival horror series and although it expands its ideas into 3D space marvellously, due to its performance issues it delivers an undercooked pizza experience.

While offering a lot more varied content from previous installments, Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is unfortunately riddled with a myriad of technical and design issues. As a result, it’s a title I can only recommend to hardcore series fans and survival horror fanatics after most of its issues have been fixed.
