This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To put it bluntly, Security Breach is certainly fun and a very promising addition to the FNAF franchise, however it often falls short of the final hurdle in alot of confusing areas.

Aside from Freddy and Gregory the lore of the games characters, and the overall story as a whole, feels slightly underwhelming. Vanny, set up in trailers to be the game's main and most threatening antagonist, is barely involved in the plot outside of a cutscene and a brief escape event. For me at least this left endings involving her unsatisfying, as I simply didn't feel she was the threat the game wants me to associate her as. It leads me to wonder if this was how she was meant to be implemented, or whether a large amount of her story had to be cut to keep a 2021 release date plausible. This also feels like the case for the inclusion of William Afton/Springtrap, the series' arching Villian. His character appears seemingly out of nowhere, is involved in a brief boss fight in which he isn't really the main threat to Gregory, and then is presumably killed in a cutscene before the game ends. Again, a little underwhelming.

This is a problem with alot of seemingly important game elements. Vanessa, hyped to be an aid to Gregory as she battles over control over her body with Afton, is really just a shoe horned in antagonist. ALOT of her trailer dialogue is missing, which implied that she would be trying to help Gregory escape. A few trailer cutscenes are also seemingly gone from the game. This may be the reason why Vanny is also missing from a large chunk of the plot. She feels like an unfinished character whom they had to practically scrap from the lore to, again, make sure the game released in 2021.

More issues with the game include a heavy amount of game breaking glicthes and bugs. Softlocks can be a frequent occurrence, which is truly frustrating when you consider the game forces you to be unable to save at certain points. Animatronics appear where they shouldn't be, backtracking can break your game entirely at times, and doing anything the way the game doesn't want you to can cause it to freak out and break. Whilst I truly understand that, especially during a pandemic, a small team would struggle to iron out all of these issues; in my opinion a game delayed for over a year really shouldn't ship with this many GAME BREAKING bugs. Small bugs are very understandable. I can't say the same for an abundance of bugs that render the game unplayable.

Other smaller nitpicks include: Maps not being labelled, the map itself being too large and clunky making it easy to get lost, sometimes it is difficult to know what exactly you are meant to do allowing for a lot of time just looking around, and you only gain the power to see Unlockables anywhere on the map AFTER the game doesn't allow you to save, making finding and collecting them useless if you die, which can be frustrating.

I'd be lying however if I stated that I didn't have a blast playing this game. Gameplay is fun and addicting (outside of that dreaded Maze Puzzle), Boss battles were always a delight, and the game always left you craving more (which hurt more considering it falls short at the end).

Environments look stunning at best and pretty good at worst. The pizza plex itself has a vibrant and colourful motif that fits its atmosphere perfectly. Framerate did tend to be an issue at times, but it was only noticeable for brief moments outside of actual lag. The FazerBlast area in particular looks so cool, I'm shocked it ran so well for me considering how bright and flashy it becomes.

A final positive is the games mechanics. It felt rewarding to collect the FazCam and blaster in order to stun animatronics, and they felt like a good progression to have as you keep playing. Hiding from animatronics is always intense and their speed is genuinely frightening at times. Freddy in particular is perfectly implemented. He essentially works as a get out of jail free card for the majority of the game, but his power runs out quite quickly (and he will attack you if it runs out), balancing him well. It, again, feels rewarding to upgrade him as the story progresses and unlock secret optional areas. The way he interacts with Gregory is also really well done, although I do wish a bigger explanation was given as to why he is the only animatronic willing to be friendly to the player.

Overall, this game has a lot of problems, but is otherwise a good time. Id definitely recommend picking it up if you are a FNAF fan, but the games lore might be confusing if not. All I can hope for is patches for the bugs, and some dlc to give the story an expansion it deserves (and needs).

The latest installment of FNAF's is something I've wanted since the 4th game, with that being said, I feel like there were some missed opportunities here, while also kind of a degrade in the fear factor.

I don't care for how articulate the animations are now, but if you HAD to do that, why didn't you add creative interactions with the other animatronics when you were playing as Freddy?
The latest installment of FNAF's is something I've wanted since the 4th game, with that being said, I feel like there were some missed opportunities here, while also kind of a degrade in the fear factor.

I don't care for how articulate the animations are now, but if you HAD to do that, why didn't you add creative interactions with the other animatronics when you were playing as Freddy? They just kind of wander around and mumble.

While I enjoy the IDEA of what they were trying to do here, it just doesn't feel right. I have always personally felt like Five Nights at Freddy's was first and foremost about horror, that and the story and lore.

I don't know if I can actually call this a survival horror game, because I don't personally feel it's all that scary or horrifying. There's something different about it where most of the time, nothing in this game feels intimidating.

Did a few jump scares "get" me once or twice? Sure, that happens when stuff jumps up in your face and screams, but after the first few times, that's it, it's just annoying.

Honestly, this feels like 90% walking simulator. They do some stuff to try and liven it up, they give you a gun you can shoot some of the enemies to stun them, you can walk around safe inside Freddy, whatever. I can appreciate that, but it isn't enough.

I mean honestly, having to constantly upgrade security badges? Boss fights involving you walking around in a maze in the dark? Really? Another thing is, why are most of the fights just mazes? Really? Come on. This is all padding because the reality is, the game itself is very, very short. I saw a YouTuber complete the game in a little over two hours.

But most importantly, it left me feeling completely unsatisfied. SteelWool had the chance here to really flesh out the story and the series given what they were working with and I personally feel like they didn't do enough. I think part of the issue for me was, they have this huge building for your to explore, but it feels like there isn't much to do, the game is mostly empty and barren.

That isn't even discussing the technical problems people have been having. There's been plenty of reports of people being unable to simply play the game, other folks are having issues with terrible frame rates, lost saves, all sorts of stuff. I personally haven't had problems with that, what I have had problems with is enemies being able to see and grab me behind walls and other objects.

Some people have said they are considering DLC. Unless there're some promises here to do some awesome stuff, I'm not buying anymore.

I really, really hope this product isn't an indicator of what we can expect from the movie if it ever comes out, if so, maybe this cash cow has finally run out of milk.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just wanted to start off by saying I'm highly disappointed in the game. Over the years the trailers hyped up and promised so much just to be brought down but I mostly want to talk about the one thing that was a major let down for me.

    Vanny.

After the Halloween Dlc for help wanted came out, Vanny was revealed to shift the game into a new era as the new villain. Picking up where William left off under his control. Now try telling me that Vanny wasn't in one of the game promotions. Vanny was hyped up so much in each and every trailer and promotion. Her voice lines in the trailers: PERFECT. Her visuals in trailers: PERFECT. The tension and chills made everyone excited to go up against this antagonist. But what do we get: Almost every single voice line cut off from the trailer and only seeing her for 5 minutes max. She just felt like an animatronic instead of the main antagonist. The only time she was actually a thrilling threat was in just one ending cutscene. As for the rest of the endings, it was extremely underwhelming.

Not only that, but Vanessa, the person trying to fight her counterpart and help Gregory escape, was cut off. She was just a pain in the butt out for Gregory as well and the only good in her was when you got the good ending, whereas you set her free and even that was underwhelming because she was barely highlighted through out the whole game. I'm going to do another review about other aspects of the game but this deserved a review alone.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Alright, let me make this clear. I have NOT played the game and inferring from the fact that people who have advanced gaming setups can barely run this game, I don't think I can. Security Breach is rushed, broken and tedious. I will admit this, this game clearly had some effort put into it, and I do think Steel Wool cares about FNaF, but this was WAY too big for them. They should have decreased the size of the project, or just delayed it a bit longer, they didn't need to release it now.

Before we continue, let's address the problems the other reviews have, be it from Steam or this platform. The game's save points are annoyingly scarce, and the game straight up turns them off for the last leg of the game, who let that idea pat the brainstorming process and into the game? The game is very boring, most of the tasks are just get an item that might be important in the long run. The AI has the IQ of cardboard, they easily get distracted, and lose interest when you turn a corner. I'll admit, Roxy's lunge and Monty's immunity to the Faz Cam and Fazer Blast are kind of cool, but most of the time, Chica is the one chasing you. Vanny and Vanessa. Vanny, as you've heard a billion times, barely shows up in game, and Vanessa, someone who was heard trying to help Gregory in the trailer, is another shoehorned antagonist.

Now for the stuff I hate. The lore. OH GOD, THE LORE. You know the FNaF 6 ending, the one where Henry sacrificed himself to burn all the remaining trapped souls? That means nothing now. ABSOLUTLY NOTHING. The Glitchtrap virus, which should've stayed as a virus, was reincarnated as William's corpse, while Molten Freddy, now known as The Blob, survived the fire by assimilating other animatronics, including Baby and The Puppet, the other two that were supposed to be free. But don't worry! They both show up (Afton and The Blob) in a three minute boss fight that ends with William burning AGAIN.

Back to gameplay, the Staff Bots. they're annoying as **** There is a billon of them around each area, and if one happens to spot you, not only will you get a cheap jumpscare, but a random animatronic will be teleported to your location and possibly kill you and send all the way back to a save point which may be MILES away from your objective. The animatronics can teleport by themselves too.

There are so many bugs that I can't even address all of them in one review, but they include: The Daycare Attendant getting stuck for no reason, softlocks, time travel bugs (You can be sent back hours, go ask Phisnom) and the list goes on and on.

And Freddy? OP as **** hiding in his chest prevent almost every animatronic from seeing you. The battery lasts a lot longer that you might think, and he's gonna get even more powerful as you upgrade him.

This ain't even all the complaints, but I'm trying to keep this review below the character limit. These bugs may be actively being patched, but the damage has already been done. I am a huge fan of the FNaF series, but I can't recommend this game.

    Don't buy this game.
Even with the latest patch, the game is still a slugfest of framerates issues and game breaking bugs. It was clearly released incomplete to sell for Christmas and is still full of glitches 5 months later.

What made FNAF different and it's charm was always the fast and precise multitasking, which there is some very short part in-game but are also completely buggy. All else is being pursued in a mall by teleporting animatronics in fortnight graphic style.

It also really feel like that game story had been rewritten in last minute to try to be surprising, and instead being boring and non-sensical, like a last season of GoT. The game is beautifully colored, which remove even more to the horror that should be there. In fact, I would even say that there isn't any horror element unless you are under 10 years old, which seems to be the target public.

Don't buy this game, don't condone SteelWool and this kind of rip-off, and if you are a FNAF fan, just watch a walk through and wait 6 month after release next time.

Not only that, but the game fails entirely at being Scary. I’ve seen some argue that the game is “not meant to be scary”. Are you kidding me? The game about dead kids being stuffed into animatronics is not meant to be scary? The jump scares are laughable, and the only part I genuinely felt a little but of discomfort was during the daycare mission. Sadly, that’s at the very beginning of the game and nothing like that mission appears anywhere else throughout the rest of it. From a lore standpoint (yes, I watch matpat’s videos on the fnaf series) it is incredibly frustrating, as one of the most ambitious instalments of the franchise leaves more questions than answers.

Vanny, who is shown to be one of the main antagonists throughout the game, is so under-utilised it’s frustrating. Freddy (while I love the dad vibes I get from him), just gets removed from the story in certain situations for very stupid reasons (ie. him not being able to visit the dj music man area because he says he’ll just start busting a move).

This game in general upsets me. I was super hype for this game but it was just way too ambitious and rushed. In my humble opinion, this franchise should lie in the horror genre. So many fnaf fan games and media (YouTube) shows how this franchise has so much potential to be truely horrifying. But sadly steel wool has just tried to lean towards the kids more which is where a lot of my frustrations come from. A lot of media tries to lean towards kids way too much even though they could benefit from aiming for a higher age group.

Look, in the end dlc could make this game good. Heck it could make it an actual scary game. But it’s just sad that we had to wait this long for a good game. But I’m still hoping that we can get that scary game steel wool was envisioning. Looking forward to fnaf plus though. That fan game is actually looking quite scary.

What's wrong with the major releases this year?
When did all studios simultaneously said, "screw this", and released these half-baked, half-assed games? GTA definitive Edition, Cyberpunk 2077, Call of Duty Vanguard, Battlefield 2042, Far Cry 6, and now this. After so many delays, I knew I was in for a bad ride.

The game, however, isn't that bad. I can clearly see the effort put on it, but it severely lacks any sort of polishing whatsoever. The interface, the framerate, the stealth mechanics, The mini-games; everything has this vibe that was rushed and not tested enough. Everything is so rough around the edges that I don't find hard to believe someone already found fifteen speedrun strats in these last 24 hours. And to be honest, the hype of a FNAF game kind of did this game dirty.

It's useless to get to horror aspects, because everyone is scared of a certain thing. If you're a fan, then you're already in touch with Squimpus and all the other analog horror geniuses, and these things don't scare you enough. I myself always found the fact that we don't see animatronics move around to be the selling point of FNAF for me. It gives them this supernatural feeling; even being giant robots in costumes, they can be there in a blink and are unpredictable. Seeing them move around in these well-lit areas kind of killed this aspect for me. Perhaps having this notion of being powerless to fight back in a chase would scare you, but I can't say that's for everyone.

For me, the absolute worse part of this game was the area design, and specially now that I played for a second time. It's no joke that Markiplier lost an hour, in two separate occasions, just because it wasn't well specified where to go. And worst of all, the scouts that roundup the area. I don't know why have those instead of just making the animatronics smarter, or making more animatronics. They serve no purpose other than just reducing your framerate. Most times I just rushed right past them, because **** it if they catch me, right? I can just outrun any animatronic, turn a corner and they'll lose track of me. And later in the game I can just ignore them completely thanks to upgrades and items. It's just flawed design.

Well then, should you buy this game? I don't really know. Even now, I cannot see how fixing the bugs would make this game any better, so you might as well taste it now or wait for when the price goes down by 80%. Was it worth the wait? not really. Would I recommend it? no. Specially with so many good and similar horror games to play for free, I don't see why you would pay 76 bucks for a product that rides on the fame of its name. In fact, there are fan games that aren't much alike in quality and gameplay, and I believe they can bring you an equal or better experience.

So yeah. You take the blue pill, and believe whatever Markiplier or Matpat want you to believe. Or you take the red pill, and maybe you can see for yourself if this review is wrong or right. The choice is yours.

As a fan of the franchise since it first started, here is my unbiased review of the game.

In terms of story and design, I love it. The story is fun, I like the characters, and all the of the environments and animatronics look fantastic. If I were a kid I would want to spend every day in this building. I also enjoy the open environment, as it adds a fresh air to the franchise as a whole.

It is clear to me that the devs care about the IP and plan to add more to the game over time.

    Now for the rough stuff.

The game is FILLED with game breaking bugs. At the moment, one of the endings is completely inaccessible on PS5 because when you try to complete a task to unlock it, it softlocks your game. Additionally, the S.T.A.F.F. bots run at a lower frame rate than the rest of the game. I can’t tell if this is intentional, because they honestly seem like they were added as an afterthought anyways, a solution to the fact that the animatronics couldn’t always find you in order to balance out the game (which they do, until there’s so many of them you can barely move).

The game is unforgiving to say the least, with very few places to save and very little (if any) guidance on new gameplay mechanics and where to go. If you enjoy a challenge, that’s great. For me, it ends in a vicious cycle: I end up being overly cautious, spending copious amounts of time plotting my next move only to be caught by something out of my control and lose 30 minutes of progress, to then being impatient and reckless after my respawn as I grow tired of playing the same, dull section over and over again.

I want to enjoy this game, but my playthrough has grown sour. It feels to me as though many sections of the game were rushed in development, repetitive, and only added to fill time. I hope the devs fix the many glaring issues with this game before moving to add more content because it desperately needs fixing.

This game has to be one of the worst Five Nights at Freddy's games ever made. Scott should have stopped with Fnaf 6 as the true ending of this franchise (and to make matters worse, this game was delayed TWICE and it STILL feels like it was made in the last minute and that's on top of all the disaster releases of this year including Call of Duty Vanguard, Sonic Colors Ultimate (which I already reviewed), Zelda Skyward Sword HD, GTA Definitive Edition, Battlefield 2042 and many more).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. To start off you should definitely avoid bias reviews of this game. The FNAF fanbase is notorious for being a loyal lap dog to FNAF to the point that when anything is released it will be met with praise. Even FNAF world a lazy and rushed RPG was met with "Overwhelming Positive" reviews on (release)Steam despite the creator themselves admitting to it's shallowness on 2 occasions. It's the same here. Countless reviews on Steam recommending the game despite having half an hour on the game, so whilst this game will seem great based on reviews...it's just FNAF fans eating it up.

In terms of the game let's make it quick. Stealth is shallow, it tells you when you are in the clear and is easy to execute. Lazy designed and incredibly rushed. There isn't depth of challenge.

In terms of core gameplay, it's just simple run away mechanics from most enemies in most areas, which the enemies themselves conviently teleport across the Pizzaplex when you enter most new areas. This worked in previous games as you never saw them move but now that they do it makes you wonder "how do they follow me so quickly?".

Some parts are good like the weeping endos but they are short lived.

In terms of story it treads old ground that was already finished. FNAF 6's story was finished but it was retreaded just to have a lazy designed Afton boss fight.

Vanny, not even going to talk about. Barely in the game and barely a Villian which would be fine if she wasn't hyped up as th e new Afton.

Really bad and nothing new. Not to mention the awful optimizations.

Lots of loading/lag spikes comparable to the original Half Life, and some of the textures look like they might be 32x32 because they just look terrible. The game's art style looks a bit like the EA Plants vs Zombies games, and it is way less fitting for FNAF than the more realistic style present in the other games.

Overall it looks bad enough that it could run on switch, but struggles to run on PC. It doesn't help that half of the fanbase is going to defend it, evident by the fact that there are already positive steam reviews with like 10 minutes of playtime.

As far as the gameplay goes, you run around the map while animatronics teleport around you for ~11 hours. It is very uninteresting and I nearly dropped it several times while playing, which is a first for this series (excluding custom night ofc)

Overall, I think that Steel Wool really does care about the series, but this game was not ready to be released on 3 different platforms, let alone finish polishing it for 1. If you want a better fnaf game to be hyped for, wait for Candy's 4 or the new Popgoes.

Average story (it had potential to be the best ever FNAF game in terms of story, but we got what we've got), decent graphics (not considering visual bugs) and TONS of an techinical bugs which spoil the immersion.

Truly sad how a game delayed this much can be such an utter glitch fest, the game itself is mediocre and these type of games shouldn't be given a pass if we want better games in the future

The game looks like a fortnite update. Honestly, and the graphics are not very good. And the gameplay component is difficult to understand. The cameras look shabby. As well as screamers and animatronics. More bugs than in the GTA trilogy

Hardlocks and Softlocks are common in this game as doing something out of order or completing something may not work and make the game uncompletable.

Textures not loading correctly/pixelated low resolution issues occur commonly.

AI/NPC are a problem too, security bots (one with flashlights) will detect you even if they don't see you or get to close and will snap to you and do a crap jumpscare. Including the main animatronics that will teleport to you if one is alarmed which is fustrating.

I would not recommend this game in its current state and would hold off until its ether fixed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. But i can't rate it for 10, because the game has not very good optimization and the regional price in Russia, when the game must be cost the 3300 rub, but on start he cost 700, anyway the game is good

The Pizzaplex, the place where the game takes place is amusing, the animatronics have their own personality and traits, and it's filled by a lot of references from previous games, they've changed the old formula of protecting yourself in an office to a free-roam stealth game, but they did it well when it comes to keep the franchise spirit.
My only concerns about the game are the way the lore was built, the game doesn't give you almost no information of what's going on, it feels you are running in the shadows in a negative way. The lack of map information in such a huge map also messes up the gameplay, you will get lost very often, and finally, the optimization and glitches that frequently occur.
Despite that, Steel Wool did an amazing job and it's really clear to see how they put their effort, it those problems above end up being fixed, Security Breach will be an even more grateful experience for players.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. FNAF Security Breach... A game hyped up for 2 years. So how's the final product? Not bad, not spectacular however. The game provides fun, and surprisingly enough, some genuine scares, but there are a few corners of the game that certainly fall flat. As far as positives, it's really fun, with genuine challenge. The style of the building, and animatronic designs are really cool. There is amazing art throughout the whole building. You could tell alot of care was given to the look of the game. Gameplay is fun, admittedly a bit whacky, but it's fnaf so that works. It is unique and sands out. As for mixed and negative, visually the game can look really bad at parts, with pixel-y textures at times. Also the story is kind of lacking. Vanny's appearance's are brief, and could have had more background to it. The therapist tapes are a start, but still could've been more. Voice acting is mediocre for the most part (though there are certainly a few stand outs).

Alot of mixed aspects, a messy game, but pretty fun regardless.

It has logical holes and little plot in fact, which can be described in a minute, if not less. But there are great recordings with a psychologist, which I'm sure were made by screenwriters with a psychologist. To register them. In fact, the perception of the game depends on what a person has gone through. If he is a fan and passed the game 100 percent. or at least it was simple, but I saw all the other details on YouTube, then he can't help but like it at least 7 out of 10. It worries me that, apart from the audio recordings, Vanessa was not disclosed, there were no dialogues with her, in fact, there was no plan disclosed, everything needs to be thought out by yourself, Although this is the whole fnaf, but here they rather did it in order to later release a book that will be released this year, secret files and plus plot stories. They will open everything there and fill up the holes. Maybe there will be dls, you can actually release them here at least every month. Optimization will be delivered over time and there will be candy in general. In advance, 10 out of 10, at least the voice actor Freddie, Just picked up perfectly and it was very nice to hear him.

This game isn't anywhere near as bad as other reviews are suggesting, despite some bugs at launch. Turning fnaf into an adventure game suprisingly was loads of fun and offers more variety to the series. I know I'll replay it again down the line. Also, the 80s glamrock touch, although not scary, is pretty awesome. I honestly hope to see more games like this for the series in the future.

A disappointment was the low resolution text or images which somewhat bothered me but considering this is the new era of gaming should be higher quality. The premise of the game is straightforward having to do tasks to unlock a certain areas to further unlock more story/plot though in the end was kind underwhelming. Like not having a proper boss fight for each animatronic also mentioning the AI for this game is overpowered in a way like teleporting very close to the player. As a whole the game seemed fun to play getting me to see the new generation of FNAF in a huge map filled with secrets, easter eggs, and backstory. I hope for the future game designers and developers as well the whole team to take this into consideration. Though so far, not bad for a FNAF game still not great but reasonably good. Expand

the map is unnecessarily large with lots of basically useless areas, the animatronics AI is horrible, too much security guard to give a sense of challenge when it actually becomes annoying, full of small bugs like visuals to large that impede your progress in the game, the story is really boring. The only good thing the game presented is the visual design of the animatronics and the graphics.

This and the number of bugs existing are the biggest problems contained here but that doesn't destroy the game. If you look at the bigger picture instead of focusing on the negative, you'll find a stunning soundtrack, defined visuals, and different scenarios of gameplay where you need to do different challenges or face bosses to progress. This game gets a lot of hate for it being unpolished, but is that the developers' fault? They definitely needed more time; maybe another year, perhaps two but I know fans were getting aggravated over the delays. This was ambitious but you can tell that the developers cared about this game and were compassionate about it. They aren't cash grabs like triple A titles we've seen, gachas, lootboxes etc. You can have a completely finished, functional game but if the devs don't put their heart and soul into it... Is it a game worth playing? Expand

The only reason the game is doing as well as it is, is because of the series' reputation. The game, despite it's length, is a chore to play through, unpolished, and fundamentally broken from a game design standpoint. If this wasn't called FNAF, then nobody would have played this.

The beautiful environment is just a façade for what is otherwise a mess of an open world game. The poorly designed layout of the mall (which is far to big, and often lacking any sense of direction on where to go next) is filled to the brim with frustrating guards and animatronics that will either instantly kill you and force you back to the annoyingly scarce save points or chase you. Both of which are annoying, however former only serves to frustrate. What makes it worse is the shocking stealth system that is so boring and bare bones I can't believe they built the entire game around it. It doesn't help that this 'horror game' adopts a bright and fun atmosphere with bright neon colours and as equally colourful killer animatronics; it seriously kills the spooky vibe that has existed in every other FNAF game (except world, which also sucked).

I understand the desire for the studio to innovate and bring the franchise forward, but the sacrifices they made to the FNAF formula to do so turned this innovation into regression. The unpredictability (almost supernatural) of the animatronics combined with the spooky, believable, and almost liminal feeling of the pizza restaurant seen in nearly every game prior to this elevated the franchise to what it is today. This is missing from Security Breach. Animatronics are somewhat predictable as they visibly move (the AI is terrible, though) which removes basically all fear I ever had for the animatronics in the past as they don't seem paranormal - they seem like robots, which isn't scary. I have already talked about the graphics however, I just want to add that the step away from the almost liminal feeling that previous entries creatively (for example, the nostalgic and uncanny feeling as seen in FNAF 1, 2, 3s pizza places) used is a huge step backwards as it makes the game far less scary

Despite Scott Cawthon handing them his ideas for the series, they failed to create the detailed story that even their VR FNAF game managed to achieve. The game ignores FNAFs history of ambiguity and uses a direct approach to story telling with cutscenes and dialog. The story is fairly short, longer than your typical FNAF game, but somehow manages to add less to the story of the franchise than the original. There is an answer to every question raised within this specific title, which when combined with the fact that there will be another FNAF game is so painful because there is just no set up. Every prior game in the series has answered a question, and asked many more (who is purple guy, who is Springtrap...). and this game doesn't even attempt to ask a new one. It does try to be ambiguous with one element of the story through a series of minigames however, the ambiguity of the entire game is just not on par with what I expect from an entry in this series.

I sincerely hope they go back to the classic five nights format, or continue to create fantastic VR FNAF experiences. This game is a mess (i haven't even touched the bugs!) and I do not recommend it to anyone.

This release seems to be rushed even though it was delayed two times, nothing game breaking but seeing the "monster" walking animation without they actually moving breaks the tension.

The story is very good, many ppl are saying it has plotholes but I couldn't find any that wasn't a simple misunderstanding. It even fixes some problems of the other games like "why do the guard keeps coming back?" The gameplay is pretty simple but given this game's size it don't become repetitive...Unless you are a completionist and wants to get every ending, however as nonlinear game you can explore different paths. The best part is how it mixes the previous fnaf mechanics without making it feels cheap.
Also, the map is full of details, easter eggs, and collectibles which is really interesting.

Now the elephant in the room, is this game scary? I confidently say yes, but as any other fnaf game it has jumpscares (some are even funny) but you will be definetely scared as gets progressively more scary as the game progresses. Yeah it has some parts where it's anything but scary however these don't invalidate the scary ones.

Some graphical bugs, bugs with mechanics - it’s all in, BUT for such a small studio as SteelWool, this project was definitely a challenge. Creating a huge 5-level mall with enormous locations was a difficult task and they made it perfectly. Locations are filled with Easter eggs, lore, tiny details and love. They loved SB as their child, and it is noticeable. Game world is stunning. Character design is absolutely great as well. All animatronics, all their in-game transitions, screamers - everything looks glamorous! Memes. Surprisingly, but memes were there as well. A tons of moments made me laugh: Mr. Hippo magnet, Map bots, DJ music man jamming etc. Plot. Game lore is deep and it’s essential for you to know at least more than basics of FNAF universe. This game continues Vanny plot line, and brings it to its conclusion. Story is a true mystery: Why is Gregory here? Why is Freddy friendly? Why Vanny is evil? Game keeps us interested at all times. But, sadly, there are some bad aspects as well. First - missions. All of them are quite similar with “Go and bring” mechanics. It’s not that bad, because meanwhile you explore that beautiful Pizzaplex, but still not very cool. Second - not a lot of different mechanics. That would have been great if you were able to play more arcades, drive a cart in the raceway or play golf at the Golf Court, but you are not. To sum up, the game is definitely a huge step forward for the Franchise itself and SteelWool especially. I had a great time playing it and I would recommend you experience it yourself, especially if you are a fan. The game has its issues, but it’s not 0/10. Solid 8.

I do completely understand the negative reception of the game. However, I do believe this is a step in the right direction for the franchise. I think we will see improvement on this game in future updates. I enjoyed the map as it is one of the best maps to explore in recent years. I enjoyed that there was a choice in missions, as well as multiple endings based on those choices. Hopefully, the developers of the game will learn from their mistakes here. The first thing I liked so much is the plot, it is not confusing and is closely related to help wanted, the graph is at a good level but not the best, many talk about optimization, but my not the most powerful pc gave out 60 fps stably, the main disadvantage is that the game is not very scary, of course there are a couple of things, but I would like more, and I didn’t like that after choosing to stay in the restaurant there are no saves, this complicates the gameplay, taking into account everything for me personally, it’s 8/10, sorry for the mistakes I’m not a native speaker Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really wanted to like this game. Seriously, I did. The game looked so promising from the trailers, FNAF was back and better than ever! Or, supposedly it was. Sadly, that is not the case.

It's even more frustrating when you realize that this game had definite potential. The animatronic designs are amazing, the Pizzaplex is a refreshing change of pace, and has a wonderful vibe to it, and some moments in the game (the daycare leaps to mind), were legitimately terrifying.

Unfortunately, a lack of polish holds this game down. Stealth is ridiculously, unforgivably easy, especially considering the AI of games like Alien: Isolation, which released 7 YEARS PRIOR to this. Not to mention how, after getting the Fazer Blaster or Faz Cam, stealth becomes all but useless with a few exceptions (Roxy after you get her eyes [meaning right at the endgame] and Monty). And since it seems like Chica's the one chasing you most of the time, you don't have to really worry about those exceptions.

Despite the Pizzaplex having good visual design, the level design is a bit rough. Lots of backtracking, the game not making it clear where you have to go (objective markers might have helped there), oh, and the save stations being turned off at the last leg of the game. Meaning if you want to get the third upgrade and the true ending, you better not **** up, or you're gonna be sent all the way back to the start. That choice is so baffling to me. Who thought it was a good idea?

The security bots are annoying as hell, there are way too many of them, and they somehow manage to be more frightening than the actual main animatronics half the time, which is the exact thing that shouldn't happen. Oh, and speaking of the main animatronics, there are some serious bugs that can easily break the game, from Roxy post-eye removal not charging at the player properly, to Freddy's call button just straight up not working.

Last but not least, the story is WASTED. For what is easily the most narrative-focused FNAF game, with the most explicit storytelling (sorry MatPat), the story is surprisingly, appallingly paper thin. Vanessa is barely in the game, despite being billed as a main antagonist, why is Gregory in the Pizzaplex anyways, oh, and what the hell is up with the true ending? Suddenly the Pizzeria Simulator pizza place is under the Pizzaplex? Afton survived the fire? Where'd Vanny go during all of this, wasn't she supposed to be the main antagonist who was possessed by Afton? So many plot threads introduced, none of them given proper explanation or weight, leaving the entire thing feeling half-baked at best.

Overall, this game squanders a lot of initial promise beneath bugs, poor design, and wasted story and characters. It sucks because this could've easily been the best FNAF game yet, and the one to reignite widespread interest in the franchise. Instead, I have a feeling this game is gonna burn out and die at a rapid pace. No idea what the future holds for this franchise. Only time will tell at this point. Whatever it is, hopefully it's better than this.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm not sure about it. It just feels so far from what I know and love about fnaf. I honestly feel like the game is more like a movie than a game and is so guided that there isn't much freedom. It feels jumbled and repetitive. You would think that since the game was delayed so much that it would be a spectacular game but sadly it wasn't. I really think that the more delayed the game got the more that it was hyped up and the game just didn't reach what it was hyped up to in my opinion. Maybe I am just being closed-minded but I don't think this screams a fnaf game, it honestly gives more of a fan-made game and the storyline made no sense. Like who is Gregory? Where are his parents? Why Gregory? Why is Freddy the nice animatronic that can't be taken over and controlled? Vanny was supposed to be our main antagonist and we barely see any of her as a threat. Also the whole crazy Will Afton scenes. Why is Funtime Freddy down there and who is Controlling him? I wish we had more of a story to the whole Will Afton// ScrapTrap scenes because it goes down in flames and then what? We don't get much of the story of How Afton got there, why he is there, what his plans continue to be. Its storyline has so many holes that it isn't really even enjoyable to keep up with anymore. I've loved all of the fnaf games except this one. It is just a huge miss in my book. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gamebreaking bugs, good graphics but good luck getting the game to run correctly. It seems like the team needed at least twice the amount of time to get an actually good game out. I remember when the first games were meant to run great on Windows XP even though that OS had been obsolete for around 7+ years. Now they even have ray tracing available which will slow down even your nicest graphics card to chugging at times. Random characters always run at what feels like less than 10fps for no reason while some things look great but will start making your world chug around you when they get close enough even on very high end PCs. Lore is shoehorned in & doesn’t feel natural. Most of the characters aren’t disturbing like every other FNAF game. No feeling like there’s something “off” but it’s trying not to give away anything like the other games. ZERO subtlety compared to something like Sister Location. It just throws enemies at you which have very subdued modeling instead of actually being scary, so it’s just a bunch of plastic enemies running at you until the end. Most of the main characters don’t even have proper introductions, they just POP out even though there’s a long drawn out introduction making you think you’d meet them in a more bombastic way.

Also, Freddy’s your buddy now for most of it. Not some final boss whose very concept of appearing scares you down to your tightly clenched anus. Feels like a FNAF game made for children with constant bugs that children wouldn’t notice & none of the overly unnerving plot that makes the games worthwhile except for some things that are just shoved in there. Lots of stuff just put there to be like “HEY, REMEMBER THIS FROM THE OTHER BETTER GAMES?!”

Feels like a game that a big name studio grabbed up to make a buck off that had 2-3 staff that actually played the games infrequently. Which is sad, since I know that’s not the case. 4/10 assuming they repair some of the bugs.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is easily probably the worst game in the franchise for a number of reasons. First off, gameplay. Even though the older games were point and click Indy games, they still felt much more fun and challenging to play than Security Breach. The gameplay is pretty much just running around and away from things, that’s it. There’s not much strategy to the game at all like in all the games past. It almost felt too easy at times. Well, that is if the game worked properly. Which goes into the next thing, the bugs. This game feels extremely rushed, as the bugs were extremely plentiful.

Next up is lore wise. This is perhaps my biggest gripe with this game and Steel Wool Studios in general. Since Scott began to give up control of the franchise to other developers (and now retiring partially due to being cancelled over dumb stuff) the lord from the game is an absolute mess. The fitting and fulfilling ending from FNaF 6 and Ultimate Custom Night has been completely undone. Help Wanted and Security Brech has lazy writing, brining William Afton back through code which was put into a video game and allowed him to possess Vanessa and creating Vanny. This also seems to have dragged back the spirits who were previously at rest from the ending of FNaF 6. Why not just start a new chapter? Make Vanny a killer on her own will, why bring Afton back? The amazing ending is undone and tbh I have no idea what they’re doing with the lore rn. The whole concept of a dead spirit returning though haunted code is laughably bad.

It’s disappointing to see where this franchise is going. What is Five Nights at Freddy’s becoming? Steel Wool Studios has no idea what they’re doing, someone else needs to get this IP. Scott might needa step in if I’m being honest.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pretty fun to play honestly, and the game is very expansive and intricate. Unfortunately there are a lot of "fetch quests" and revisiting old areas, but sometimes it's enjoyable to do that. I would've given this game a 9 if the endings weren't so confusing and weird. I can forgive all the glitches, because it's not nearly as bad as many other games released in 2020 and 2021 which had much higher budgets. Expand

Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach tries to convince with his new gameplay mechanics but doesn't achieve this in the most parts. The only really horrible things are the bugs and the game could be so much better with more development time.

Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breach is the newest addition to the fans' favourite indie survival horror series and although it expands its ideas into 3D space marvellously, due to its performance issues it delivers an undercooked pizza experience.

While offering a lot more varied content from previous installments, Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is unfortunately riddled with a myriad of technical and design issues. As a result, it’s a title I can only recommend to hardcore series fans and survival horror fanatics after most of its issues have been fixed.
