Now that I've finally completed this game, I'm really happy to see so many positive comments here and I'd like to leave my own review.

The most important aspect is, of course, the amazing story. I haven't seen such a fantastic story in any other mmorpg. Personally, I thought Heavensward and Endwalker were the best, but all the other expansions have very interesting elements as well.

Like others, I'm a little sad that Zenos doesn't seem to have the opportunity to join the Scions despite his interesting development at the end of Endwalker. It could have led to a really interesting group dynamic, where they finally teach him how to behave more socially, and his body height would have led to some funny situations.
Unfortunately, it seems like they've thrown that possibility out the window. It was really epic towards the end, but there should have been more with him afterwards.

Especially since new characters like Zero can't really measure up and are too clichéd for my taste. I agree with my fellow reviewers on this point.

Player housing is really cool, but I also agree with others who say that you can only place too few items in your house, and it can be pretty difficult to even get a house in the first place.

The islands would be a nice method to allow player housing for all players, but they're still far from that. Basically, you can only move the same handful of buildings to different places, which is pretty boring. Since animals in this game don't look that good, it's not really fun to catch them either.

Overall, though, I fell in love with this game thanks to the story, and I hope that it will get really good again soon after a rather weak epilogue to Endwalker, and hopefully some characters will return who unfortunately were written out of the story.

The stakes are high, and the narrative is both thrilling and deeply moving. The expansion offers a satisfying conclusion to the overarching story of Final Fantasy 14 while also setting up intriguing possibilities for the future.

The player housing feature is also a lot of fun, as it allows players to create and decorate their own homes to their liking. However, it's worth noting that obtaining a house can be quite challenging, and it would be great if it were made more accessible to players.

One minor disappointment in the story is the short-lived arc of Zenos. Just when things were starting to get interesting, it seems like he was removed from the story. It would have been great to see more of that character and his potential redemption arc.
Hopefully, he'll return in the future to answer the many unanswered questions about his character.

The island sanctuaries are a nice idea, but the animal NPCs could have been better designed, so collecting them isn't really fun for me. Also, the house collection on the island could have been more diverse.

Despite these minor issues, Endwalker is a fantastic expansion that offers hours of engaging gameplay and a compelling story that will stay with you long after you've finished it.

I love this game! The story, player housing, the many possibilities regarding armors, it's just fun to play Final Fantasy 14. Despite the events of Endwalker, I really hope with all my heart that we will see characters like Emet, Zenos, Hermes, and Hythladeus again soon. It just wouldn't be the same without them, and honestly, I have to agree with the people before me in the comments. Characters like Zero now are not really a good replacement.

Regarding player housing, I hope in the future they will make it easier for us to place things, especially when it comes to putting things on a gallery and such, etc. Unfortunately, that can't be done without some tricks, and it can take forever to get it right. It's also a bit annoying to even get a house with the high demand. That should definitely be addressed as well.

Honestly, I find the new islands a bit boring so far. I understand that they don't want to completely shift player housing to the islands, but currently, it's quite limited on one's own island, especially in terms of things to do.

I also wish they would improve the customization options for characters. Especially when it comes to faces and adjustable body size or those annoyingly long necks on the Elezen, which ruin the whole race for me.

Overall, though, this is my absolute favorite MMORPG.

The only downside I find with Endwalker is that Zenos seemingly disappears at the end. This character still holds so many unanswered questions, and they barely touched on anything. Why did he keep seeing the final days in his dreams? How could he become as strong as the Warrior of Light, even though he seemingly doesn't possess as many soul fragments? Why is his body unnaturally large? Did Emet possibly conduct some experiments on him? It wouldn't be the first time he experimented on a baby; just look at what Emet did in Shadowbringers. But, as I said, they give us next to nothing, and then it's over. Apart from that, Zenos would complement the team really well if he had a redemption arc. I can imagine many funny and interesting moments, but yeah, nothing happened, and I found that very disappointing.

In general, what bothers me in the game is that you have to kill enemies so often. It wasn't any different with Emet and Elidibus, and now they're all gone. I don't like the approach, even though the story is otherwise very well-written.

On the other hand, the new stuff with Zero is rather mediocre. Zero is just a walking cliché, and honestly, it annoys me every time she's around. Hopefully, she will take a backseat in the next expansion. I would prefer to see old characters taking the spotlight again.

However, since I'm personally most interested in the story, I would like to express a few things about it. Although the story in Endwalker has become really good, in my opinion, some characters were somewhat neglected. Of course, with so many important characters, it's impossible to give them all equal attention, but it's particularly evident with a certain friend and foe of the Warrior of Light. This character is just too central to overlook how Enix handled him.
So much potential was wasted with him, and it's truly sad. There are dozens of unanswered questions, no insights into the character's development, or, as I have seen others mention, blatantly obvious questions like why he and his father are unnaturally tall. Fandaniel also hinted at things that suggest Emet might have experimented on him. Among other things, our prince repeatedly mentions the final days in his dreams, unlike others. There are just so many unresolved aspects about this character, and ultimately, it's disappointing that he was written out without much further exploration.
I really don't understand why he didn't take Zero's place in the wol's group later on in the story to learn new things. It would have been a hundred times more interesting than what we have now.

But well, that's actually my biggest criticism. I could add smaller things about certain other characters, but I suppose it would make this review too long.
As I said, overall, Endwalker was still very good.

    A remarkably good game.
The story is probably the best I've ever seen in a game. However, like others, I also want to criticize the ending a bit.
It feels like they cut out a lot for Zenos. Essentially, he remains a blank slate at the end. Although he is very intriguing, and I was looking forward to learning more about him in Endwalker, they ultimately showed us very little about him.

Especially since when the moment came for a redemption arc to develop for him, they also discarded that option.

And with him, unfortunately, they threw away the last interesting character. What followed with Zero, etc., is comparatively quite bad and not really interesting either. I have no idea what they have planned for the future, but I'm afraid that they won't be able to win me over again with the story since they removed pretty much all the interesting aspects. We'll see.

By far the best MMORPG on the market. Many thanks to everyone involved in FF14. :)

However, I believe it's always important to express criticism when there are areas for improvement, so I'd like to do that.

Firstly, concerning Player Housing, I think it's great to have so many options, but it's quite tedious to acquire a house in the first place.
Being forced to pay a subscription every month to keep the house is also not ideal. I wish we could retain our houses even if we take breaks from the game.
Additionally, placing items on elevated objects is a hassle and it often requires a lot of tricks to make it work. This aspect could be made much more user-friendly.
Finally, I would appreciate it if the number of objects that can be placed, will significantly be increased.

Regarding the story, I agree with some of the points made by previous speakers here. As good as the story is, FF14 unfortunately has a problem with removing almost all the interesting characters.
As others have noted, this is particularly noticeable with Zenos, a character with a lot of potential and many unanswered questions. Moreover, after three expansions, he was on the verge of taking a better path, but ultimately, this potential was left untapped.
It's sad to see well-developed characters being let go, but it's even more disappointing when a character with untold stories and unfulfilled potential is removed. If he had joined the Scions for example, it would have opened up many new possibilities and certainly been very entertaining. It's just a pity how it ended in Endwalker.
I know that nothing in FF14 needs to be permanent, so there might be a future for characters like Zenos, Elidibus, Emet, and others where they return. However, if not, it would be a rather disappointing aspect in an otherwise well-written story.

My third point concerns character customization.
While there are many choices available, I really wish we had more options for faces. The current selection is quite limited. Also, when it comes to Elezen, I'd like to be able to adjust the length of their necks and make them shorter. And in terms of height, I'd appreciate an increased range between tall and short body height.

Overall, though, I am genuinely very happy with this game.
If anyone from the FF14 team happens to read this, thank you so much for the wonderful experience you've given me and many others.

However it is not a 10/10, but again, an 8 is really good.

Here are the few things I wish Square Enix would improve in the future. :)

Player houing is amazing! However I don't like that you have to be constantly be subbed in order to keep your house. That's not how you should treat your players. Please make houses available for all players, not just a few, so players don't feel forced to keep subbed for each and every month. Also increase the number of items we can put in our apartment and house. Other than that housing in this game is simply amazing.

    Customization options for playable races.
While the number of customizations is certainly more than in other mmos, which add like 3 hair colors every few years, it still is rather underwhelming. Especially considering face options you have way too little in ff14. The body sliders are nice, but the range between big and small could be bigger. On a personal note, I really which they would give an option to make the Elezen neck shorter. They kinda look like giraffes. Also the tail of Miquote doesn't really look good and rather like pixel mush.

Graphics need to be more polished and I'm not really a fan of invisible walls either. It kinda breaks the immersion.

    Story:
    Only 2 things.
First of, Haurchefant's end felt very unnecessary. Yes, it was very emotional, but I can't help but feel that it shouldn't have ended there. I love his "appearances" throughout the story up to Endwalker, but due to the unnessesary end I still wish he would come back somehow, if they are able to write such a story well.

Second point would be Zenos. Especially with Endwalker I had high hopes for a redemption arc and it is sad to see, that his story went nowhere in the end. I still have a ton of questions about him, his past, his connection to Emet, why he and his father are bigger than everyone else... and many more. I feel like the end, even though it was very epic, was a let down and leaves you kinda hollow.

But still, this is a very good game and I am looking forward what the future will hold for Final Fantasy.

Overall, the variety of zones with many changing themes is brilliant.
The only question I'm a bit scared of is whether this expansion will be a first single-player first and a multiplayer second expansion again. Story-wise, Shb was brilliant, but when it comes to gameplay, Stoormblood is unbeatable.

The content itself pulls out emotions of joy and sadness that captivate you through the amazing story, enchanting scenery/zone designs, and character development.

Aside from the story and zones the additional content added to the game such as job changes bring a refreshing improvement to the job actions that makes them more fluid and enjoyable to play. The new jobs Reaper and Sage are not only creative but engaging jobs that excel expectations in gameplay and design. They lie amongst the most interesting and fun jobs to play not only for their respective roles but in the entire game and MMO genre.

The servers have been facing minor issues (such as queues and login errors) as any new MMO expansion faces but Square Enix has provided daily updates on the status of server improvements and has been attempting to combat the issues as best as they can. Users have even been provided with free game time as compensation for the few issues. Considering the semi-conductor shortage that has made it near impossible for them to acquire the proper server technology to rid users of the server issues completely their active communication and determination convinces me that the minor server issues will be resolved quickly.

All in all Final Fantasy XIV's Endwalker expansion is arguably their best work to date and any fan of the game will appreciate the thrilling and emotionally impactful end of the Hydaelyn and Zodiark saga. The expansion excels expectations in every aspect and leads me to believe that Endwalker is not only amongst if not the best expansion to date within any MMO, but that Final Fantasy XIV is the definitive best MMO to play right now.

The music in every new zone and dungeon is fantastic and though some dungeon weren’t as good as others all looked great and helped move the story forward in a good way. The level 90 dungeons being extra special in both sound and art design.

As for the jobs I have 1 of dps, healer and tank already at 90 and I’m in the process of getting tomes for my healer to raid. Most jobs are super solid though.

Some could’ve gotten a bit more love and attention sure but we have to understand that not every job can be reworked at once. The ones that did get a rework seem great. SMN is my 1 dps to 90 it’s never felt better then now to be a SMN. SCH though could use some love. But I digress.

As for crafting and gathering I’ve only dabbled a little bit so far but with the changes and improvements they made in shadowbringers I’m sure that whatever entails being a lvl 90 crafter/gather is going to be just fine.

I hope that everyone enjoys story and that the queue times get better. For me Endwalker was everything I could’ve hope for and more.

What few flaws I found, seemed minuscule compared to all the great aspects of this expansion. I do not believe queues should in any way affect score of an expansion, as the reviews will affect decisions of people in the future where those issues will be no more and as it stands there was little they could have done to prevent them anyway.

Barring the initial server issues expected of any major MMO expansion launch, Endwalker serves as the magnum opus of FFXIV and Yoshi-P. The music, art, and writing are better than they've ever been, and I can't wait to see what else the team has in store.

An 8-year saga coming to an end. My only hope for EW was that they land the ending. And I can wholeheartedly say they did.

Every piece of your journey meant something. That sentence alone already says how much care they put into this.

    What a finale.

Absolute failure of a launch being excused by rabid fanboys who have nothing else to do but to argue and defend a six-billion-dollar corporation because they can't get in the game.
Queues even a week later are long, errors remain. Even the worst WoW launch was sorted out 2-3 days later.

Though I must say that the finale with Zenos was a bit of a let down for me personally. If the devs decide to bring him back I would be so happy, because right after finishing Endwalker I was really sad that it looks like they just finished his story there.
There would have been so much potential for him as a future unofficial ally of the Scions. All the funny and awkward moments we could see with him, trying to become more social.
Not to mention that we didn't really learn all too much about his character over the last couple of years. So it really feels as if we would miss out on a lot, if there doesn't come any more content with him. :(

Another small criticism would be housing. I would love to own a house. However I don't want to stay subbed to this game non-stop. Even though I like ff, I certainly want to take breaks every now and then. So that is really something that bothers me about the otherwise really nice player housing feature in this game.
In case anyone of Square Enix' team reads this, please consider expanding your housing system, so that there would be no need for a constant sub.

Playing ff14 made me realise just how bad world of warcraft overall is.

    Not everything is perfect though.

    Player housing:
The amount of items for apartments and houses are too few.
The requirement of staying subbed to keep a house is really bad.

    Graphics:
While customizations are very, very good in comparison to wow, there could still be more variety, especially regarding face options.
Creatures in this world, and I am sorry to say that, look really ugly. I wish they would give animal npcs an overall overhaul. Ecept for Chocobos, who look gorgeous.
Invisible walls feel really weird for me.

    Islands:
Those little marionettes kinda creep me out. I really wish we could remove them and put our own npcs on the island.

Emet-Selch is a standout, with his compelling backstory and charismatic personality. His interactions with the warrior of light are some of the most memorable moments in the game.

Now, I do have to mention that it's a bit sad to see Zenos' story come to an end so soon as I saw other fans complain, too. Just when we thought he might finally have a chance at redemption and maybe even become a companion someday to the warrior of light like the scions, at least he was one step closer to that, they just take him out of the story. It's okay to take characters out of a storyline, but in Zenos' case, it just felt unsatisfying. There was still so much to learn about that character, and it felt like his story was just beginning at the end of Endwalker.

But even with that disappointment, Endwalker is still a fantastic expansion that any fan of Final Fantasy 14 should not miss. With its charming characters, witty humor, and incredible story, it's a journey that you won't forget. 8/10

However, the quality unfortunately drops rapidly in the epilogue, after the main story where you have your big final battle and then return home. I see it very similarly to others here. The newly introduced characters are quite boring and very cliché. It's like having a moody teenager girl constantly complaining about being a victim and trying too hard to be edgy, that is now following you everywhere. Somehow, it lacks the spice after the main story. Even this whole "peace, joy, and happiness" between former enemies... it's just a bit too much for the past few months. I really miss the main story and the characters that were still present in it like Emet, Hermes, Zenos, Hythladeus... even Fandaniel was more entertaining than the new characters.

But let's see what the next expansion brings. I think I'll take a break until then. I tried the new patch today, but unfortunately, it has the same problem as the previous ones. It's just not my cup of tea.

But as I said, overall, it's a really great game with a lot of fun stuff to do.

This time around, Zenos is on a journey of self-discovery, and we get to see a different side of him at the very end of Endwalker. He's slowly becoming more aware of his emotions and realizing that there might be more to life than just power and conquest. it seems like Zenos' story arc has come to an end though, even though there are so many unanswered questions about him. I was hoping to see more development from him in a positive direction, and it's disappointing to think that his story might be over...

I haven't experienced anything like this in any other game. So really hats off.

Player housing is just so much fun once you get a house. It could be a little easier to get a house, and players should really be allowed to place more objects in the houses. While there is already a lot, it could still be improved.

I'm not really a fan of the graphics, though. While there are beautiful places, the world seems a bit too artificial to me.

Customization options are pretty good, but there's always room for improvement.

I don't find the playable races particularly exciting. I would like to see more diversity there.

The epilogue has been rather boring so far, with uninteresting new characters. For some, it may not be bad and may serve as a relaxing break after the action-packed expansion Endwalker, though.

Raids, etc. are also available, but I won't comment on them as they are more incidental to me.

I can really recommend this game to anyone who wants to experience a really good story and have fun with things like player housing and the like.

However, the process of obtaining a house can be quite difficult and limiting the number of placeable items can be frustrating. That being said, the overall housing system is well-designed and offers players a great way to express their creativity in the game.

The storytelling in Final Fantasy 14 is also top-notch.
The game's plot is complex and compelling, with a diverse cast of characters that are well-developed and memorable. The depth of the lore and the intricacies of the world-building are truly impressive.
While the story arc of Zenos could have been longer, I still found it to be a satisfying conclusion to his character. Overall, the storytelling in Final Fantasy 14 is one of the game's strongest aspects, and it's what keeps me invested in the game.

Another great aspect of Final Fantasy 14 is the community. The players in the game are generally friendly and helpful, and there is a strong sense of camaraderie among the player base. This makes the game much more enjoyable and creates a sense of community that is rare in other MMOs.

The gear system in Final Fantasy 14 is also modern and well-designed. The gear progression feels rewarding, and there are plenty of options for players to customize their characters to their liking. It's great that the game is always updating with new gear sets and adding new ways to obtain them.

While the graphics of Final Fantasy 14 are generally good, I do think that there are areas where improvement is needed. The animal and nature graphics could be more detailed and realistic, and the island sanctuary could use some improvement to make it more engaging.

In conclusion, Final Fantasy 14 is a very good game due to its fantastic player housing system, deep storytelling, strong community, modern gear system, and overall immersive gameplay experience. While there are some areas where improvement is needed, the game's strengths far outweigh any shortcomings.

While the story admittedly started a bit slow in ARR, it began to get really exciting towards the end with the fight against the Garleans and the Crystal Tower. Also, when the player character is accused of murder and has to flee, only to be taken in by our gracious friend Haurchefant and thereafter deal with the problems in Ishgard.
The story just has so many fantastic moments and characters; Graha Tia, Haurchefant, Aymeric, Nero, Emet, Hermes, Cid, Zenos, Alphinaud, Estinien, Jullus, the list goes on. Even up to Endwalker, the story keeps getting better, even though it's already heart-wrenching in Heavensward.

Sure, there are moments that I would have liked to be better. I've seen some criticize that Zenos should have more development and especially a continuation after Endwalker, and in that regard, I completely agree. But overall, this game has done a really excellent job so far. Especially compared to other MMORPGs, FF14 is simply unbeatable. With newer characters like Zero, I can't really do much yet, but I'm sure that things will be looking up in the next expansion, and I'm very curious to see where the journey will take us.

In terms of story, definitely a 10 out of 10, and that's what's most important to me.

Other areas, on the other hand, could use improvement. This includes graphics when it comes to nature, etc. There are indeed many modern customization options for characters, which also puts them ahead of other games, but even here, as others have criticized, there is room for improvement, especially when it comes to faces. Player housing is great and diverse but needs more spots and a better system for obtaining a house.

The story is probably the best in the MMORPG genre that I have ever played through and other MMOs don't even come close to the quality of FFXIV.

However, there are also many things that I don't consider to be as good. As others have mentioned, FFXIV has a significant problem with killing off characters. Don't get me wrong, not every character needs a redemption arc, but it has happened so frequently that characters are killed off rather than given a chance at redemption that it has reached a point where I personally find it quite frustrating.

This was the case with the Ascians, who were shot into the oven and then ultimately, as criticized by others as well, with Zenos. They killed him, then brought him back and you think, okay, maybe he'll finally get his redemption arc, only to seemingly discard him again. It becomes quite exhausting after a while.
Now, after the main story, in the following smaller content updates, they introduced the new character Zero, who apparently is supposed to serve as a replacement... but provides a pretty poor substitute and honestly gets on your nerves more than contributes to the entertainment.

So, that's really a point in FFXIV that bothers me. This constant killing off of characters. The new expansion has been announced and one can only hope that they will bring back some of the characters, because the current cast, which we have to live with until mid-next year... isn't my favorite.

Now, that might have sounded very negative, but that's actually my main criticism. Otherwise, I wouldn't give the game an 8/10. Overall, there are many very good moments and I can wholeheartedly recommend this game.

While every meeting with him was interesting and the final battle was epic, the lack of development left the ending feeling a bit disappointing. It's a shame that such an intriguing character didn't get the attention he deserved.

I only wish that owning a house wouldn't be tied to an active subscription. That's somewhat of a downside for me and the reason why I only own an apartment and not a house. Simply because I don't want to be constantly tied to the game and like to take breaks.

The story in this game is full of finesse.
The writers really know what they're doing. Many characters have grown very dear to me. It's even sadder when you have to let so many go. In fact, I agree with some of the criticism already expressed by others regarding the ending of Endwalker and thus the end of our blond friend and foe. His ending feels very undeserved and leaves numerous questions unanswered, as previously noted.
For example, the question of why he has been dreaming of the final days since his childhood. Or what Fandaniel meant when he referred to Zenos: "Could Emet-Selch have found a way?" What does he mean by that? Did Emet conduct experiments on Zenos? And if so, what kind? Is that the reason why Zenos is as strong as the Warrior of Light? Could that even explain his unnatural height? Questions upon questions. So I really hope that wasn't the end for him and he will return in the next expansion.

The playable races are mostly very good, but they could have a bit more customization options.

All in all, an outstanding game.

However, there are also things in FF14 that unfortunately bother me a bit. Especially when playing more modern games like Baldur's Gate 3. Of course, I know it's not fair to compare an RPG with an MMORPG. An MMORPG inevitably has to have a single ending that's the same for everyone. In an RPG like Baldur's Gate 3, there's the freedom to provide players with an individual ending based on their decisions throughout their journey.
Something like that is probably just difficult to implement in an MMO. But in FF14, there are so many moments where the wol/player character behaves in a way that's as foolish as can be, that it can be quite exhausting at times.

As I've seen others complain about here, in FF14 it often ends with the enemy being defeated and that's more or less the end of the story. Instead of giving the respective character a chance for a redemption arc after the battle.
If it happens once in a while... okay, you can't make everyone turn to the good side, but in FF14, it's a constant occurrence, which is why interesting characters are shot down one after another. Not really enjoyable... Especially in Endwalker, this was noticeable with Zenos, of course. This character is probably the definition of wasted potential.
He was built up very promisingly, only to be thrown to the wind again in the end. An epic anime-style battle is cool and I did enjoy it, but then to just end it again and introduce new characters and enemies out of nowhere? Nah...

And to get back to the WoL, here, you simply can't act freely. When the player is asked a question, you almost always have the choice between "Yes, I'll do that" and "Okay, I'll do that." The available options don't have any differences that would even remotely influence the course of the story or the relationships with NPCs.
As I said, I know that the immersion and freedom present in Baldur's Gate 3 can't be fully implemented in FF14, but I still hope that with upcoming expansions, they'll bring in a bit more diversity. I also hope, like others, that they'll bring back some of their wasted characters.
Currently, I find the story a bit bland with the newly introduced characters.

I'm looking forward to the upcoming expansion, of course, but I think a bit of criticism now and then can't hurt either. Like I said in the first sentence, the story is really good, but you can't really derive much feedback from "everything is great," so I wanted to mention what I don't quite agree with.

    Still, a great game!

    Amazing game!
    I love the story.
Was really sad because of the end of Emet and Elidibus and really hope they'll return. Was very disappointed because of Zenos' end. Like... why bring him back, tease a very promising arc and an interesting development and then write him out of the story again? Really hoping we didn't see him the last time. Please bring him back and continue his story.

Player housing needs way more placeable items, it should be possible to place items on all other objecs, being forced to stay sub in order to kepp a house is not fun and it should be easier for all players to get a house, not just a handful. Apartments are nice and all, but compared to a house? Not so much.
In regards to the story, again, I agree with other people when it comes to a certain prince. Why tease such a promising story arc for him with dozens of unanswered questions and then just end it? Major disappointment right here, in case he really doesn't show up again in the next expansion or at least give us hints, that he survived and will return someday. The way it stands now? Just disappointing.

Though Endwalker and the devs deserve a solid 9, anyway for the joy this game gave me.

I've read some of the reviews here and it seems I'm not alone in this opinion. The story's quality takes a sharp decline after the final battle against Zenos and the return of the scions to Sharlayan. It almost feels like completely new writers took over.
They keep throwing new enemies at us one after another and as soon as they appear, they're killed off. Sometimes even within the same patch, making it impossible to form any connection to the characters.

Enix has unfortunately killed off all the previous cool enemies, but at least they had some lore built around them. The only exception is Zenos, who, as has been criticized here many times, was somehow left out until the end. Just when you'd expect his redemption arc to finally begin, he's removed again. A questionable decision, to say the least. As epic as the battle against him may have been, we were given almost nothing about this character.
Given the high expectations around FF14's character building, it was a huge disappointment that this seems to be all there was to him.

To get back to the post-Endwalker experience, as I said, new enemies are practically thrown at us and then wiped out in the blink of an eye. This is not what I would call high-quality writing.
The only character who gets lore built around them is Zero. But Zero is such an unbearable edge queen that it's hard to get used to her. She constantly comes across as an emo who needs to be coddled by everyone because she's had it so tough. And that's all we get from her. The task of coddling her around the clock is not everyone's cup of tea. Certainly not mine.

With the post-Endwalker experience, this game has somehow lost its spice.
Well, let's see what the future holds. I would still recommend FF14 to anyone who hasn't yet experienced the really good story.

However, Endwalker is now the third expansion where I hoped we would finally, finally get some content about Zenos. And although the former prince offered some philosophical remarks here and there, the context was once again entirely missing. We learned almost nothing about him.

Only two things were teased: firstly, Fandaniel suggested that Emet may have performed some experiments on Zenos when he was still a child or perhaps even unborn and secondly, the fact that Zenos has been seeing the final days in his dreams since he was a child. While this is extremely interesting and provides ample room for speculation, perhaps even explaining his strength and body height, anyone hoping for an explanation will be bitterly disappointed once again. There was nothing further about the character.
A significant letdown in my opinion and rather uncharacteristic for a game like FF14.

Towards the end, you even have a dialogue with him where he seems to slowly recognize that he actually desires the life of the Warrior of Light and can't really stand his own life. And you think, okay, explanations will probably come in a redemption arc with the following patches... but again, nothing.

Instead, the patches after the main story are rather... I don't know. Very mediocre, if not even bad. As others have already written, you don't really feel anything for the enemies that are presented to us after Endwalker. You're also not really given the opportunity to and Zero is too clichéd for my taste as a new character.

For this expansion, I was really considering whether to give it a 7 or an 8... If I could I would give it a 7.5, because the majority of it was really good, the stuff after the main story however...

However, I must admit that certain aspects of Endwalker seemed questionable. It appeared as if some content had been cut, as noted by other critics. This occasionally left a slightly unsatisfying impression, as I felt that some storylines were not fully developed.

One of the highlights of this game in general is undoubtedly the player housing. The ability to customize your own home is a fantastic feature. However, I am disappointed that you are still forced to maintain a paid subscription to retain your house. This restricts the freedom to take breaks without the fear of losing your home, which, in my opinion, is not an ideal solution.

As for the post-Endwalker patches, I must admit that they have a rather lackluster story. In particular, the character Zero did not impress me. I hope that in the upcoming expansion, Dawntrail, we can look forward to better stories and characters and hopefully without Zero.

Overall, Endwalker is an impressive expansion with a gripping narrative for the most part. Despite some shortcomings in execution, I am excited about the future and hopeful for more epic adventures.

Endwalker is good, but it's not a 9 out of 10 in my opinion. I believe many people are being a bit too generous with their ratings. I would argue that FF14 is currently the best MMORPG on the market by a wide margin, but let's be honest here, the competition is sometimes really subpar, which is why I hope Square Enix doesn't start resting on their laurels.

I've seen some mention it already, but in Endwalker, it just feels like a lot of content has been cut. Yes, it mostly affects Zenos, who was completely wasted in the end, instead of finally getting his story after several years. However, I think it's not just him, many aspects of this expansion could have used more time in the oven.

There's are also a bit too many moral lessons in the story department past Endwalker, which is getting quite exhausting. I think that might be one of the reasons, why many don't like Zero (me included). Everything around that character basically turns to a saturday morning care bear episode. Makes me kinda wish that she returns to her own world and never comes back, to be completely honest.

Also relict weapon is very underwhelming and island sanctuary is nothing what I expected it to be. There is literally no reason to visit someone on their island, because they all look the same and having all those ugly lalafel like marionettes running around isn't really great either.

I really wish to sub to ffxiv again but the content has been lacking for awhile now and this is supposed to last us a year? Oof... And to be honest, what was shown from Dawntrail... not that exciting either, but I'm still hopefull. =)

It has been a driving force in finding peace in my life, and helping to process a lot of things that went on with my mental health and my experience of maturation of my worldview in my 20s which were full of strife, mistakes, and questions of what the point is of living.
This expansion pack explores these themes and executes them in a story that hits me so hard that Its almost theraputic.

In 2019 during the previous expansion: Shadowbringers, I was finishing college at the end of my 20s, reeling from a breakup of an 8-year relationship, and finding the will to live for myself and to find the happiness that I WANTED to seek, and not what others expected me to. So the remainder of the last expansion I managed to find that answer for myself. It was exciting to then have my favorite game wrap up it's first major 11-year long story arc with similar themes to those that had been integral to my growth in my own life the past few years.

I know i'm talking about myself more than the game but this personal background info is the lens through which i'm seeing what makes this game so amazing. I can say that my long-time love for the Final Fantasy series couldn't shield me from criticisms I initially had of this game when it was rebooted, a time during which i only managed to play it for a few months. After coming back in 2016 to see the immense improvement of Heavensward, I was slowly engrossed further and came to the realization that this was probably my favorite game to come back to. So with each expansion since, I've fallen more and more in love with it. This expansion however is a MAJOR leap in quality in almost every aspect from the expansions that came before it.

I still find frustration in things like the "Raubahn EX" server issues during Stormblood, and now the "Login Que Ultimate" that we are dealing with now. But I know that running a game like this, that is finally getting recognition after years of fixing it diligently, listening to the players, and experiencing a WoW refugee migration, cannot be easy. This is especially true with the silicon and semiconductor shortage that definitely makes it difficult and unreasonably expensive to improve the servers like SE had initially planned to. If I put these issues aside... this game is a perfect sendoff for this story arc. Bringing back old names of those we've lost, giving us hope to move on to a brighter future, and always reminding us that Life is precious, and Sorrow and Joy are inextricably linked and must be experienced together in the same life, for there to be of any meaning in either... And the fact that this game reminds me of that, will forever cement this story as among the best stories in a game that I have ever experienced.

Now let's just hope they continue to make Savage and Ultimate raiding as fun and engaging as they have the past few expansions, and that the patches that are to follow over the next few years, can lay down the foundation for more beautiful stories to come.

Endwalker is..really good. The music, yes, which is guaranteed to be good because Soken created it. But the story is wonderful. It feels like giving it anything less than a ten would be disrespectful.

the best video game i ever played and i played a bit of games through the years,
i honestly believe this is a one in a life time experience and i feel honored to have lived when this expansion released.
now leaving aside my personal love for the game, there have been some launch issues but those are nothing really and are just a testament that this game is too popular since there is

now leaving aside my personal love for the game, there have been some launch issues but those are nothing really and are just a testament that this game is too popular since there is too many people trying to play it at the same time.
the story was great, it wrapped up alot of questions and plot threads that have been open since the release of 2.0 and some since 1.0, they also have mastered a new way of telling story through the use of maps and how to revile them to the player with also new work done on the cutscenes side.

in terms of gameplay i have leveled and played warrior (tank), summoner (dps), Scholar (healer) and tbh the game feels it's best now where in they did alot of QoL additions to all the jobs and reworked some like the summoner and my conclusion to it that gameplay feels quite good even better than shb in some cases and in general removing 90s jobs and unifying all jobs on 60s / 120s rotations have made the game less confusing for some and didn't really effect the skill gap too much.

the zones were all magnificent, each offering something different and getting it's screen time and everything, while not being too bad in terms of unlocking flying.

the fights were really awesome be it dungeons, boss fights or solo fights in the msq they all have been great, and not to forgetting to mention the 2 extreme fights on offer at the release they both are really good and continue the same great design that started in shb while not being too difficult for people to kill and farm easily with random groups while people still learning their new versions of their jobs all and all 10/10.

Lastly the music, it has been exceptional through out the whole expansion using the greatest iconic melodies of the game and older FF games while also creating new tracks to jam to, for anyone that likes video games music this is a masterpiece by all accounts.

TLDr: game is too good go play now or at least when servers are less crowded and you can log in

First I was scared about Endwalker. Shadowbringers was such a good expansion, so Endwalker had big shoes to fill. How I was wrong. The story, the characters, the zones, everything was immaculate. Yoshi P, Ishikawa and Soken, thank you for this masterpiece. Forge ahead.

    Absolute masterpiece.
Queues are long, yes, but that's normal in any new game or expansion, once you are in game there's 0 issues, no lag, no Raubahn Extremes, everything works smooth.
Endwalker is excellency, unique experience, something you can't express with words, the emotions, the journey, its something you have to live.

this isn't the game of the year no way
this is the game of the CENTURY

but of course, this is taking into account your journey since A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringers

the experience combined with Endwalker to finish it off is unparalleled

As far as MMOs go, and I've played them for over 20 years, this is the penultimate creation currently available in the genre. It is not the BEST at each part but it is excellent at all of them and the story being 10/10 letting stand alone as just a good FF game by itself is a grand feat. Absolutely awesome.

I am a long time MMO player, and no MMO has hit me and stuck with me like FFXIV has. Every chapter that gets released the quality seems to get better and better and Endwalker is no exception.

If you really into deep fantasy lore, this game has it by tons, it won't disappoint you. This release added a couple new quest types to make things more engaging. Escort quests which just basically just exposition as you talk to an NPC while walking around a zone. And stealth missions which, honestly could need a little bit of tweaking as I'm not sure they quite pulled that one off. (It wasn't so bad to make me deduct from my score however).

The new jobs feel great, though I think Sage needs a bit of a buff so dungeons trash pulls feel more comfortable. Reaper is hugely satisfying and fun to play. The other jobs in the game, while I've not played all of them yet, (I will) They seem to build off the successful Shadowbringers formula and add to them to make them slightly more complex and I look forward to optimize some of these jobs in savage content.

Music is absolutely amazing, even the ambient music has you head bobbing, and battle music just slaps.

The zone design in this expansion is probably the better than it has ever been. Previous expansion zones seemed like they were lazily put together, Shadowbringers did a lot to improve on that, and Endwalker is better still. Seems like there is a new thing to discover in every zone, and I fly around often just admiring the vistas and exploring.

All in all this game has my head spinning with how crazy things got in the story. Best Final Fantasy story ever.

I have been with this game since 3.3 and Endwalker was everything I wanted and so much more. If you enjoy things that are good at the very least go watch cutscenes of this game to experience the story, that way even if mmos are not your thing you can still see this truly beautiful masterpiece. Insane amount of content and the best video game story of all time. Mix that with the commitment of an MMO and some of the greatest mechanical gameplay design and it's my top game of all time with Endwalker.

It had it slow moments and pacing was hit or miss, but overall, the thing up of everything and throwing in a curveball (sort of) really finished strong. Lots of emotions if you've been following with care

If you didn’t like FFXIV before now, Endwalker will do nothing to change your mind. But if you’re in, this emotional rollercoaster will be rolling towards a satisfying conclusion, that absolutely will not disappoint.

FFXIV is currently the best MMORPG available. The main reason is because it’s RPG first, MMO second. The story isn’t just an afterthought, but an integral part of the experience, and everything else revolves around the tale of the Warrior of Light. It’s logical, well-planned, and presented with great, voiced (or not) cut-scenes.
