    Endwalker is by far the greatest video game experience I ever have in all of my gaming history. The story is rich, well written and, even if we are builder over 8 years of content, is still coherent, something many games with a story as long as this one could not be able to keep up. The gameplay, the environment and everything added so far in the expansion are just phenomenal and areEndwalker is by far the greatest video game experience I ever have in all of my gaming history.     I was a bit skeptical at first especially since Shadow bringers was such a fantastic expansion, and didn't think they could outdo it. I can happily say that I was proven wrong, though the story is a bit wordy it is a fantastic expansion that the devs have put their hearts and soul into!

The end of this 8 year Arc is wonderfully written and is the most satisfying I've experienced compared to the predictable or awful loose ends that modern games tend to release.
    The new    Building off the wave of Shadowbringers with massive improvements to classes, and keeping what works best untouched has really made Endwalker gameplay feel amazing no matter what job you choose to play. The end of this 8 year Arc is wonderfully written and is the most satisfying I've experienced compared to the predictable or awful loose ends that modern games tend to release.
    The new dungeons and trials were incredibly satisfying to play both visually and gameplay wise and the areas are some of the best in the game.
    My biggest complaint being a fair amount of reskins were used, although having more choices of color on certain gear is nice, it feels a bit over done and the still rather large lack of hair styles for Viera as well as helmets are mildly frustrating. But, I am just nitpicking at this point.    … Expand

    Copy from my PS4 review, on PC the game offers good performance for low specs machines (got a sister playing on a 2GB video card), awesome music, great gameplay, peak story. I didn't play an MMO since Ragnarok Online on 2012, the game is 100% recommended, and this expansion only made it better. Queue times are long depending on the time, so, queue some time earlier of your intended playtime.

    Shadowbringers made FFXIV my favourite Final Fantasy game of all time. Endwalker has made FFXIV my favourite game of all time. Absolutely masterful story telling, beautiful world building and the most well fleshed out cast of characters I’ve ever seen.

This story, this immersion, these characters, everything was absolutely incredible, from start to finish, with each patch, this question: But how will he do to do as well or better than that in the next patch?
    The next patch gave me the answer.
    Shadowbriner has finished converting me completely to ff, no longer finding my account on wow, especially after all the concerns related to the culture of the company.
    I was very scared of Endwalker. I was afraid of being disappointed after Shadowbringer, but it is not.
    At the time of writing, I haven't finished the Endwalker story yet, but I already know that for me, what this extension makes me experience is exceptional.
    I never thought I would experience a story and emotions like this in a mmorpg.
    This game is just perfect, and totally deserves my 10/10    … Expand

    One of the greatest final fantasy stories ever told, if not the all time greatest. Moving and full of passion, it manages to bring together all the narratives of the expansions until now to create an awe-striking and beautiful finale. Not to mention that it is a hopeful and inspiring tale fitting for dark times such as these, it felt great to have a game fight to make you feel genuineOne of the greatest final fantasy stories ever told, if not the all time greatest.     What a masterpiece of a finale. I went into this expansion thinking "Well, it probably won't match Shadowbringers but I'm sure it'll still be good" and by the end of it, it's completely blown Shadowbringers out of the water for me. I can't wait for New Game+ to be added so I can do this again.

    Amazing expansion. Superb music per usual, some of my favorite dungeons in the game, and if you're a fan of the story, it gives a satisfying conclusion to it's current arc. Some of the best storytelling in gaming in general.

    I've only started playing ffxiv in August, so I read a lot of concerns from older players that this game would result in newer players being unfamiliar with certain things and fanservice moments falling flat for them - This was absolutely not the case, I absolutely loved this expansion, I spent the final several hours sobbing so hard a trail of tears was forming on my chest. Amazing, amazing game.

    Absolutely unbelievable. Tears, Joy, Shock, and most of all, a lot of Pog. The fights that are part of the Main Story Quest are so well made and challenge you in just the right way.
    The next expansion will pale in comparison.

    I cant stop playing endwalker. The story was truly incredible. Square have forged a masterpiece that isnt just Endwalker, but the rest of the content combined. With endwalker being allegedly the end of the current story arc, this, now seemingly finished product is a true masterpiece.

    Endwalker has been one heck of an experience so far. Picking up where Shadowbringers post-patches left off, it continues and concludes the story of Hydaelyn and Zodiark in a masterpiece.

    Of course, everybody has been talking about the dreaded error 2002 that has been bothering the game since launch. Personally I haven't had many issues for this (and I log in about 4pm local time),    Endwalker has been one heck of an experience so far. Picking up where Shadowbringers post-patches left off, it continues and concludes the story of Hydaelyn and Zodiark in a masterpiece.

    Of course, everybody has been talking about the dreaded error 2002 that has been bothering the game since launch. Personally I haven't had many issues for this (and I log in about 4pm local time), even though the queues have been long (on average around 6 hours on day 1, and still now around 3 hour queues to get in the game). I did get one kick out of the queue on release day, but haven't had any issues personally since then.

    Once in the game however, it is one of the most stable online experiences on launch day I was able to ask for, with no further disconnects and I was able to get into the story. On another note, the way they have responded to this issue, given the current worldy circumstances, has been better than required, thanks to the development team's obvious love for the game and desire to see it succeed.

    The story itself goes places that you can only expect from Square Enix, and they took some huge risky moves that paid off in the end. However, when it comes to risky all I would need to do is mention the original game and A Realm Reborn to state that SE are no stranger to risk. There are some slower parts, but with where the story goes I found myself appreciating those as once things get started you'll be strapped in for a while and glued to your seat as things all start falling into place.

    The gameplay has definitely felt more responsive since Shadowbringers, and the dungeons have been some of the best added to the game so far. The trials are all exquisite showpieces as can be expected from Square, and new interesting mechanics were well executed and communicated.

    The hardcore content is fully available yet, as raids come at a later date, but I will say that one Extreme trial is definitely more engaging and interesting than the other. I won't go into further details about this to avoid spoilers.

    Overall, a wonderful but also emotional experience as we close the final chapter in the tale that has been being told for a decade. Good job SE, and look forward to seeing what you do next.    … Expand

    Not only one of the best MMOs I've ever played, but I think it might be my new top game of all time. A story that more than rivals traditional cinematic experiences, because you're given time to become attached to several characters. I didn't want to hope that that they could top ShB, but they somehow managed it... their whole team deserves a raise, but particularly their writers. It pays off every little loose end that you could thing of (as Yoshi P says, if it does not make sense its a clue) barring the groundwork for the future. Having lost a lot of people in my life the past couple years it really makes you question all. This story delivers on humanity as aAn 8 year+ story comes to a close!!!     Seriously brilliant. It's got a few lulls, but it's storytelling that brings me back to the wonder of games like FFX so many years ago, and the highs are so high that I can't rate this anything but a 10. The philosophy and commentary on life that permeates the story hits different now I'm older too. Just so glad we still have people with a vision telling the stories they want to tell.Seriously brilliant.     Truly this is a masterpiece of fiction. If you've played from the start, Endwalker delivers absolutely everything you could wish for from the game, and it is the best story experience I have ever had from any form of media in 37 years.

    Bad queues are temporary, impressive writing and storytelling of this game with years of build up and actually great conclusive end will be eternal.
    Seriously though, the amount of connected threads over the years and plot points is so impressive I dont think I have ever seen this amount of great execution in all my gaming years/out of all media.

    I am shocked how well a story can be done in an MMORPG game, FFXIV Endwalker is a marvel in terms of story and content. Keep it up I look forward to what comes after this DLC.

    I'm playing FFXIV since ARR. This expansion is marvelous. The story, the music, the dungeons and trials. The new jobs are fantastic. How did they manage to outdo themselves?

    I'm really thankful to SE and Yoshi P and his team, for they have given us such a great game to enjoy.

    Gameplay:
    So far the newly release jobs seem very positive. Reaper was really fun to try out. Sage has such a great aesthetic but is very similar to scholar playstyle (without a pet).
    Dungeons are very enjoyable and great. The trash pulls somehow don't feel as tedious and the bosses are so much fun to fight.
    Trials are just perfect, it was amazing going through them.
    Combat really is peak MMO, it is fast pace, engaging, and when u master the rotation it just feels great to play your jobs(and I have all jobs to 80, and they are all fun).
    The jobs rework seem very positive, I really like the changes they make to the healers, Summoner and Monk.

    Story:
    I don't know how to even start, it was a masterpiece for me. This is really the accumulation of ALL of the previous expansions. It links everything together and ties a beautiful bow. The characters' growth is insane. I have too many I love these cast moments. The plots can be confusing at times since they get REALLY DEEP but they touch me in ways I never thought they should. No spoiler here but the main theme is really about the meaning of keep going on living, why do we suffer, why do we need to suffer. If you skip all the previous expans though, you not going to love the story as much. This is a very character-heavy story, if you do not care for them, you will not love the story as much.
    The ending forces me to take a break from the game for a bit because of the emotional turmoil (thx u so much SE).

    Music:
    Soken is a god. The scores are perfect, they capture the feeling TOO WELL. Like the story already hit you hard like a wooden bat. But no soken have to jump in and turn this wooden bat into a diamond bat. I really REALLY thought he cannot top Shadowbringer OST but I was again wrong.

    Performance:
    I play this game with the shader(which I really recommend). The game runs great and smooth, I have one disconnect when I start the first quest but that's about it. Playing shield healer feels amazing now since shield works better now(they figure out a workaround so shield doesn't get impact as much by server tick). If you are in-game, the game just runs amazingly, there are no bugs whatsoever when I play through it.

    New zones and texture:
    The new zones are too beautiful for their own good. It is great to see how much they improve in art style. It does make me feel kinda sad seeing older zones since they are just.... well very old. I wish one day SE consider upgrading ff14 texture and just make the rest of the game look as good (texture-wise) like endwalker. And please can we make so I don't see pixels in characters models. I got used to it but sometimes when I see it, it bothers me to no end.

    Queue time(launch week):
    I didn't play the game the first 5 days when it launch due to server issues. they literately suffering from success. There are just way too many people wanting to play the game and not enough server hardware to go around. I was able to pretty much avoid this completely by playing in the morning or really late at night. But I know people who have a 9-5 work schedule prob not going to have a lot of fun queueing for hours.

    the queue time will get better as the weeks go on or when SE finally gets their server hardwares. Please stop blaming SE for not getting a better server, there is a semi-conductor shortage and MANY companies cannot get the parts they need. From what I know SE offer to pay lots of money to get these servers components and they still could not get them since there are none, to begin with.
    I read so many entitled comments on how SE is so lazy with the server and the launch is terrible. I play through launch way, wayyyyy worst. and when you get in there are no issues at all.

    Errors:
    The first week we have the legendary queue ultimate due to rampant errors kicking people out of the queue. it was...bad, this is quickly fixed in 2-3 days and now I never have the errors again. I read that some people still have these errors very frequently. For me, though I never encounter them again after the fix.

    Conclusion:
    This expansion was just so perfect. Besides the queue time complaints, it was just a complete experience. Again this wasn't a standalone story, it was a beautiful conclusion of multiple expansions before it. If you already play through all of them, this is a MUST play.    … Expand

    Starting 3 months ago, this has been an exceptional journey. After giving up MMOs two years ago, this has been a gift, being one of the best stories in gaming history and showing that even MMOs can have a wonderful story and incredible gameplay. Especially standing-out the Trial Fights, Job Mechanic and Phase-based Music!

I am much more interested in mechanics, not a lore guy in the least, but the Endwalker plot made me feel every flavor of feeling there is. It feels fresh and new while keeping loyalty to the franchise and exalting its own previous expansions. Everyone I met in-game was having a great time.     Ein Verdammtes Meisterstück. Von einen Kaputten Spiel bis zu einen der Besten MMOs war es eine Lange Reise. Aber Mit Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker wird ein würdiges Ende geboten der Hydaelyn/Zodiark Geschichte. Wer Shadowbringers Liebt wird mehr als zufrieden sein.

    We were all worried that Shadowbringers was lightning in a bottle, that the immense pressure and expectation put on the development team would doom Endwalker before it even had a chance. But goddamn, they did it again. I can only hope the rest of the industry is watching and taking notes.

    I thought Shadowbringers was the best but this expansion story has been amazing. Sage is my favorite healer as someone who came from another mmo that heals base of damage this is closest thing to it. The story in shadowbringers was amazing but endwalker feels special due to putting an end to things. The job changes are great this expansion I can’t wait ti tell them all out.

While Shadowbringers was amazing on its own and developed further the lore of Eorzea they had the opportunity to build again on a new world. Endwalker had a harder setup and continuity to handle and I do not think they could have done it better. There is a situation that I was getting a bit bored regarding part of the MSQ, but soon it did a unexpected turn, and continued to do so for all the story. They managed to wrap up a 10 year old arc, and did beautifully. Honestly, this team just keep on giving.… Expand

    This is the best Final Fantasy. I say that as a long time series fan that didn't want to play an MMO. I was finally convinced to play during Shadowbringers. Now I feel a bitter sweet sense of loss because I'm quite certain that the journey from A Realm Reborn to Endwalker will be the best JRPG I ever play. This is the secret of FFXIV. It is a JRPG and a Final Fantasy first and an MMO second.

Logically coherent with its hundreds of intertwined characters and arcs, making it possible to predict it by picking up cues, but putting in just enough twists and joys of adventure to make it exciting.     this is the best FFXIV has been, it ties up all the threads set up in previous expansions and finishes with a satisfying conclusion, the second to last zone is the best this game has ever been, i was in narrative heaven for that entire segment of the expansion. the final zone while a little cliche works well with the elements set up earlier in the expac.

    I have never played any other Final Fantasy game before and enjoyed the story a lot more than I could have ever expected.
    Lots of other people only reviewing the story here and giving it a 10/10 (rightfully so) should already tell you just how amazing it is.

Endwalker is not just an expansion,It's a journey,It's a very unforgettable experience.I laughed and cried throughout my entire playthrough.The Writing and the story is a masterpiece,I like every decision,foreshadowing and twist they make every single time (The fandaniel-zodiark part and the elpis arc final scene).The message of the story was delivered perfectly and I resonance with it untill now.The pacing is great almost all the time and when it's slowing down (Second trip to sharlayan before boarding the Ragnarok comes to mind), there's a big payoff in the end to make up for that (Urianger and moenbryda parents scene,The twin father revealed the truth and how much he cared about them).The character in this expansion work so well.All the scion got their own moment and time to shine,Zenos become my favourite character and venat show us what it means to be a strong female character.The dungeon in endwalker is fun as hell to do,the music is a banger,the mechanics is on point and the design is really well crafted.The map and the environment is masterfully crafted,i like every part of the new map and my personal favourite is garlemald and ultima thule.My favourite part of the story is the final scene with venat (hydaelyn form),after countless trial and struggle,we make it to the end and proved ourselves worthy to her of our conviction and that we will save the star.It will do her a disservice to not create a dedicated part of this review for her,and it's for venat.She is the best character in this story and it's really hard for me to say that because endwalker is full of great characters (Zenos is still personal favourite).Her struggle,conviction and love for the star is what make her so great,every scenes with her is amazing.Her being a primal and her lack of communication since heavensward make me suspicious and cautious towards her since Shadowbringers but it will seems my suspicion is misplaced because if anything,I underestimated the love she have for the Star and for her children.I can keep writing and writing but i want to keep it as short as possible and this review is already long enough as it is and with that,i conclude my review for this masterpiece… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Okay so before I start I am specifically reviewing Endwalker, not final fantasy 14 as a whole which would be a 9/10 for me. I’d give ARR 7, Heavensward 10, Stormblood 6 and Shadowbringers 9.5...

    So is this the worst expansion? I think it may be, and I have now quit FF14 after almost 3 years. Why am I scoring it low? Mainly the story. We were promised an ending to the arc so far, which in a way we got however this feels far more like a transitional/filler expansion than a satisfying ending. In many ways the story actually makes Shadowbringers worse by undoing some of that games biggest moments.

    I also felt it was too childish. In Heavensward we fought dragons and in Endwalker we go to the moon and fight silly creatures, none of which really matter because everything was created by Ascians who are no longer the Ascians we once knew but pretty, sympathetic boys who look like they belong in kingdom hearts. We get a glowy space dog, a pop song plays for the generic out of nowhere final boss.. it has Disney elements of story and presentation. This does make it perhaps the most ‘box office’ but I preferred the grittier feeling of previous expansions and Endwalker is no longer the game I fell in love with. There’s also barely anything to do at Max level. I might come back to a later patch but right now I’m all FF14’d out and going to enjoy other games instead.

    I do recommend FF14 if you are a new player entirely, there’s so much to do. But Endwalker, didn’t enjoy it. Finish 5.3 Shadowbringers and everything afterwards just feels like optional fan fiction.    … Expand

    An expansion that manages to finish a decade-long story arc in one of the most inspiring, beautiful and exciting ways possible. There were big shoes to fill following the Shadowbringers expansion, and Endwalker does just that and more. FF14 shows that the bar has been raised substantially for the MMO genre, and story-telling in general, creating a world that's hard not to come back to.

    Final Fantasy XIV is actually the best game I ever played in my whole life. Great sound design, amazing story and voice-acting, the musics are just perfect. The game looks really nice, the graphics are great even low, you can get an awesome gameplay too if you wish to play with everything high. Trust me, you must try it, there is so much love going through that game.

    I thought it would be impossible for FFXIV to top Shadowbringers. I was wrong.

    Endwalker was so impactful that as soon as I finished it I booted up my alt and started replaying from the beginning, so I could get the full impact of Endwalker again. Every time I hear Close in the Distance or fight The Endsinger or Zodiark, half of the battle is not crying.

    While there is no doubt love, and quality in that affection when it came to development, it is plain to see that resources for the MMO are starting to thin. There is a lot of cut corners in Endwalker compared to most other expansions within the XIV, lacking features, entirely missing content, swathes of underdeveloped but highly teased landmasses and not to mention a somewhat lacking finale to a particular antagonist's story.

    I can't find myself blaming the game however, I think no amount of good writing would match the buildup of a decade's worth of storytelling, and now we're at the end of this particular thread I can't help but nitpick at the lesser details. All that was missed for features that weren't requested, all that is still left a mess despite so much time passing with which to fix it. I look toward the next expansion now, hoping that 7.0 will fix the glaring, aging issues that still permeat XIV. Endwalker was not the best of it's expansions, but it was a good one.    … Expand

    What can I say? The music, the message, the Battle system, the colors (finally better and meaningful). I can't imagine a game so good that the only bad side is that you need to play a lot, from Realm Reborn until Endwalker, to understand the message and meaning, while enjoying an awesome game.
    It's an experience that I suggest to everyone.

    Compared to prior expansions where we got dozens of job questlines, Endwalker only gives us 5 role questlines and 2 job questlines. Sadly, the mantra of "quality > quantity" is not in effect here, as all of the questlines are pretty meh except for the melee DPS role questline and the reaper job questline, both of which are decent (but not great).

    The amount of content FFXIV expansions add has been declining with each release. Endwalker content patches haven't released yet, but going by the downward trend I'm not optimstic. Endwalker already has a noticeable lack in new armor sets, with most of the 6.0 dungeons reusing old sets. One of the 9.0 dungeons also did not get a new theme and instead reuses a year's old boss theme. The game director, Naoki Yoshida, sure likes to talk about how Square is reinvesting its profits back into FFXIV and that it has a bigger budget than ever, but the increasing lack of content we've been getting says otherwise.

    A massively long story driven semi-single player experience (you can do all dungeons with your fellow "Trust" NPC's) with very fun endgame that challenges even the biggest no-lifers with its "Ultimate" content.

No retcons, no random plot devices, everything has remained consistent. The developers KNOW their story, and you can tell the love that went into it with the sheer detail in some of the callbacks from arcs that were all the way back in ARR, no stone was left unturned. The story, while starting off rather slow-paced, is more impactful than even Shadowbringers at some points due to the unexpected twists, turns, and themes it tackles. The story, while starting off rather slow-paced, is more impactful than even Shadowbringers at some points due to the unexpected twists, turns, and themes it tackles. This is not to say that it is perfect, as I have noticed some tonal inconsistencies during certain portions near the start and middle—yet these are gravely overshadowed by the quality of the whole experience. Moving on to the dungeons and trials, without spoiling anything, are probably some of the best in the game thus far due to the music, set pieces, and mechanics. In fact, this might be the only expansion that has me liking all the dungeons (and trials) at launch! There is so much more to discuss, like how good the new jobs are, but I think it would be best if you gave the game a try.

    Endwalker, though of course not perfect, truly did offer an experience any fan of MMOs, JRPGs, and even Video Game Story-telling would most definitely enjoy.    … Expand

One that was not only one of the best finales for any series I've played, but one that had me bawling in tears for hours. Tears of joy. Tears of sadness. It holds a story that has left me with a new perspective of life. One that is hopeful. One that now can appreciate life for all it's ups and downs.
    This game has always been about the story, and the story of FFXIV: Endwalker is a masterpiece.
    Accompanying the phenomenonal writing is a perfectly paired soundtrack with every musical arrangement fitting nicely in the background of the almost fully voice acted scenes. Of which, the cutscenes now feel movie quality.
    It's hard to recommend this game, considering it will take many, many hours to fully appreciate the journey it has been to get here. But this is the end. And the end was beautiful.    … Expand

A truly epic story and journey to the ends of the universe and back. It is unlike anything we have ever seen before in video game history.     FFXIV Endwalker is the perfect ending to a 10 year long journey. It cements itself as not just one of the best stories told in games, but one of the best in any medium. A complete triumph of gameplay and narrative that should be experience by as many people as possible.

    It has been an amazing 10 year journey created by Creative Business Unit 3. All of this in a form of MMO. In my honest opinion, it's the best narrative in any game I've ever played before. It's a love letter from the developers to the players that have sat through everything from the beginning until the end.

    After Shadowbringers i thought, that Square reached peak of Storytelling... I was so wrong. The emotional rollercoaster that game provided, along with beautiful soundtrack was the best thing that happened to me in gaming industry ever. I pray for more and can't wait for release of the patches

    Hoping that the queue and server stability eases soon, EW main story is everything I expected and more. Epic conclusion to a 10-year saga, and one of the best RPG stories out there.

    If you didn’t like FFXIV before now, Endwalker will do nothing to change your mind. But if you’re in, this emotional rollercoaster will be rolling towards a satisfying conclusion, that absolutely will not disappoint.

    FFXIV is currently the best MMORPG available. The main reason is because it’s RPG first, MMO second. The story isn’t just an afterthought, but an integral part of the experience, and everything else revolves around the tale of the Warrior of Light. It’s logical, well-planned, and presented with great, voiced (or not) cut-scenes.
