This game finds itself in a position between awesome and lame, right in the middle. Why would I say it's in the middle of lame and awesome? Because this game works like this: Your squad is deployed in a good, great, amazing mission and you fight your way to victory. By the end of the mission, you'll see cutscenes and storytelling. After that, you are free to go to map and there is a time counting for you to grind yourself a better level for the next mission. Basically, mission day - grinding - mission day - grinding - mission day - grinding. You can even argue with me saying that "hey, but there is side missions to solve in the meantime", well, those side missions, all of them, are "kill 'a number of' monsters in a specific area". That's it! All of them are like that. No real quests, nothing interesting for grinding in a game that's all about grinding. But the mission days are so great that I can't help myself but to go grind and get strong for the missions.
Overall the game is worth and the ending might be the best in the series, is a great story, not easy to follow, but great.
Also, as a port I'd say Square Enix did a fine job. I assure anyone I found no problems with the game execution. Don't come here complaining about graphics, this game came from a PSP system and this version is not a remake.

So where to start. I load up the game and see that the graphics options are extremely limited and only support two resolutions. Whatever, Ill start the game. The game managed to piss me off right at the get go with the opening cut scene. It faded to black and time skipped ahead 1 minute at least 4 time. Then I noticed something odd on the main menu - No way to quit from there. This usually means we're headed straight into crappy port territory. I start to notice little things, like how some of the textures look updated, while the rest of them look straight off the PSP. I also noticed a way to tell who is a main character too really fast - Their mouths actually move. The rest of them have their mouths only move up and down, and its rather jarring watching two people talk with the different articulations.

The plot is very typical Final Fantasy, and I did enjoy the combat. The multiple different ways things are fought out (Overworld directing troops and inside sieging cities) is a pretty neat feature. I'm starting to notice that certain people will always be better than the others. The guy that does massive damage with a katana, but leaves himself open for 5 seconds after an attack is completely useless right now. Other characters have similar flaws, but they can be worked past.

Most battles have been simplified down to using someone with a gun or a bow, and alternate mashing attack and dodge. Take 0 damage in every fight. On the off hand I get hurt, someone usually just heals me up.

Other minor things that bug me so far:
Mouse does not disappear when idling.
Why cant the analog stick be used for everything (menus require DPad use)
Random sidequests given to you that take you to areas where you get one shot at that level even if you have been training
Menu lag when trying to use an item
Impossible to target people to harvest phantasm if they have died and you switch targets.
Dialogue boxes that stay on screen for up to 10 seconds that you cannot skip. Usually Moogle tip boxes.
Voice acting is all over the map. Some really good voice actors, some other people that should stick to just doing Hentai.

Overall, this game feels rushed to be ported, and had little work to improve it over the PSP release. For a game releasing at the $30 price point, there are much better options for you to buy.

As a long time FF fan I have not played any of the FF games past FFX besides the MMO's.
I intend to get all the FF games I haven't played regardless of reviews.
The opening cutscene is amazing, so gripping, emotional and dark. Yet after that the story is ok but feels like a let down, it isn't told well and feels wooden the way it's mostly told with just a couple of characters talking

The opening cutscene is amazing, so gripping, emotional and dark. Yet after that the story is ok but feels like a let down, it isn't told well and feels wooden the way it's mostly told with just a couple of characters talking about something and seems rather bland and uninspiring.
I did like the story and the dark tone of it and it seemed much more intriguing after the 6th chapter.

Everything about this game feels like it's half as good as it could be.

In between missions you can do boring quests which are mostly just to kill monsters. And you can only do one quest at a time. I try and do all the quests I can and talk to everyone with exclamation marks but most of it feels pointless and can be skipped.

I found the last chapter the most interesting and enjoyable to play. It's a shame that most of the game was no where near as good and didn't get good until it's nearly over.

The action combat is the best thing about the game and I enjoyed playing all the different play styles of the 14 characters. I levelled them all to lvl 38 and enjoyed levelling them all.
Though you should always have a ranged character in your party.

The port seems fine and I had no problem with frame rates or anything else. Though camera is a bit annoying. I played using my XBox controller as I don't recommend playing with the terrible keyboard controls. Don't get the game if you don't have a controller.

The game is ok. I don't love it or hate it. But it felt tedious at times and the middle bit of the game felt boring. I dislike that you can only get the alternate ending if you play through a second time and I did try a new game on agito, but it's almost just the same with the begining intro cutscene and even though I've completed the game it asked if I wanted to play the tutorial. I don't need that, I know how to play already. I know there is supposed to be other missions you can do and trials, but still feels not worth it to play the game more than once, besides I can see the other ending on you tube.

I like the game and would rather have played it than not at all so. I can't rate it higher than 6/10 as I felt it needed much better quests.

I am a big FF fan, but you have to know that this game has been originally produced for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). Therefore graphics are not so good but if you like tough battles: here we go.

It's got some interesting concepts, but the execution is off. The overall design and nature of the PSP game feels cramped when ported to consoles and PC, and was generally distracting when in any part of the game that wasn't some version of combat.

A convoluted story and ugly visuals, each of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD's flaws are only made worse by bringing them to bigger screens.

The trouble is though, the gameplay is not the major part of the game. It’s the story, and the many long non-interactive cutscenes that often feel out-of-place next to the PSP-quality graphics.
