The interface is wonderful. You have so much information immediately available to you. Google Maps always has a minimap in the lower left corner, which gives you a good overview of the area. Getting information about people gives you a clear, clear window. Hacking offers a menu with easily recognizable icons, so you always know what your button presses will do.

Better than Fifa 13 for sure, but worse than Fifa 12.
Still you can shot 30 times and hit only the keeper, and then probably AI will score at the last minute.
Im not really joking I won 8 games on 9 online but still I find it hard to play offline. Yes I play legend because I like challenges but jesus christ this is freaking hard lol! Thing is you can have always the ball but it does

    Not too much new stuff.
Gameplay is okay, feels somehow like football until your defense starts tripping over each other or your goalkeeper has decision issues.
Anyways im still quite pissed how many bugs are still in the game or have never ever even been tackled at all. Also that i have to push at least 10 buttons to start the game annoys me (a lot!!), damn annoy me too. And to top it

First off, full disclosure - I'm a PES fan, and the last FIFA I really played was way back in 1996 I believe. Compared to that version of FIFA this game is really quite good. But it's nowhere near as good as PES 2006 was before KONAMI lost their way. And looking at the latest incarnation of FIFA it becomes apparent PES at least partially has lost its way in an attempt to imitate FIFA.First off, full disclosure - I'm a PES fan, and the last FIFA I really played was way back in 1996 I believe. Compared to that version of FIFA this game is really quite good. But it's nowhere near as good as PES 2006 was before KONAMI lost their way. And looking at the latest incarnation of FIFA it becomes apparent PES at least partially has lost its way in an attempt to imitate FIFA.

    Here's a quick breakdown of what I don't like in FIFA 14:
    - Everyone is running in treacle; the game is a lot slower than English football. PES made this mistake too and it makes the game less fun.
    - Passing is slow and reinforces the feel that you're playing football in a highly viscous liquid environment
    - First touch pinball; most of the players can't control the ball at their feet, and it pings around madly with nothing you can do about it. This is another FIFA feature that has infected PES as well
    - Almost every shot is blocked by defenders and unlike in PES, you can't easily create space using the basic controls. FIFA expects every player to be performing skill moves and tricks to create space. This isn't how football works.
    - Over-reliance on skill moves (see above) - this also applies to other parts of the pitch. The issue is confused by the fact that not everyone can pull off all moves, and even the most basic moves might fail to be pulled off by some players. This also makes learning the game confusing when you have no idea if you're not doing the right move or the player just can't pull it off. I'm not talking about particularly skillful tricks here, but simple changes in direction and stepovers.
    - Defending is weird; it's really easy to win the ball back with your attackers and midfielders. It's really hard to win it back with your defenders. It should be the other way around. The reverse applies when you have the ball - getting the ball to your attackers is a doddle, not losing the ball with your attackers within a few microsends is a challenge
    - Goalkeepers are overpowered, one-on-ones are extremely hard to score
    - Shots tend to go either straight at the keeper, into the corner or just wide (unless you really miskick). Maybe it's just me, but I can't figure out how the aiming is supposed to work on any setting other than manual (which is far too difficult for me).
    - Passes are iffy in that they often go to the wrong man; or they go to the right man, but you're given control of a man in between. I have yet to figure out how to take control of the player the pass is actually going to. The AI likes moving this player away from the ball, or has him stand there watching the ball dribble into touch.
    - Through balls are almost always intercepted, but lofted through balls always reach their target with the attacker in the clear.
    - The UI is a mess. Not sure why it gets so much praise. Starting the game requires you to make far too many choices, such as choosing the same settings file you've always used. I have no idea why the designers thought that you'd want to create a new settings file each time you play (the default). Or why you need to confirm that you want to load a saved game multiple times after choosing to continue said saved game.
    - In the same vein, the squad selection screen doesn't give you any indication as to what positions a player can play in aside from their primary position. You're supposed to remember this. There is a function (not always available) to switch through the players that can play in the selected position, but this only works before a home game - it's bugged when away and you can't use it.
    - Painful transfer system in career mode, made even more painful by a poor UI
    - Transfer deadline day requires you to sit around for 10 minutes pressing X. Great fun.
    - Skill games before every match (no thank you)
    - Celebrations that are hard to skip (there's a button combo, but I have no idea what it is after remapping the controls)
    - Match highlights that aren't highlights while skipping actual highlights

    What I like:
    - The player change mechanic is far superior to PES, which really made the game infuriating to play. FIFA's option to only have players switch automatically when "air balls" are played is how it should be. The ability to change players with the right stick is nice, albeit somewhat finicky at times (but great for corners/free kicks). The AI that determine what player you switch to when using the switch player button could do with some work though.

What I don't care about either way:
    - Licenses: FIFA has some. If you really care about licensing over gameplay, kudos to you

FIFA 14 isn't a terrible game and I only paid 10 smackeroos for it, and definitely got my money's worth. But it isn't a particularly good game either. It's not much better or worse than PES 2013, but that's not really high praise either. There must be a market for a football game out there that is great fun to play and actually feels like football - but for now you're going to have to make do with either PES or FIFA.

For example cpu transfer choices are random and stupid. You can easily sign a top player for free when he has six months left of his contract. CPU teams do not extend their stars' contracts. Also, loaning players out is a nightmare, you just cannot loan out enough players, and this is also pretty random. You cannot play them in a reserves team, because FIFA do not have one. Basically, you will need to include below 70 players in your 85+ squad from time to time. If you want your youth players to stay in the youth team, they will want to cancel their contracts by time, usually in the worst situation.
Match quality is also poor. The replays are lifeless and sometimes useless. Like when the keeper is kicking out the ball and an offside occurs. The camera does not shows the actual situation, only the goalie. The half time and full time cutscenes also very repetitive and lifeless. I also need to mention those cheap cup win scenes, which the game has only one. It is screwing up the whole atmosphere for a champions league win.
And now comes the worst part, the actual reason I hate the series for years now. The matches are simply run on rails. I become extremely frustrated when I beat Sunderland into the ground with a 3 times in a row champion in my 5th season and they score a goal from their first attack in the 83rd minute making the results 3-1. I just want to play a clean game, but the cpu rarely let me to do it. 3-1 is a very common result, because I play mostly uneven matches in the BPL, still, they mostly have that one goal. There are some other nice results like 4-2, 2-0, 2-2, which the game likes pretty much. A football game is needed to be balanced and controlled, but not this much. Moreover, when the cpu scores a goal from first attack it usually does from a laughable position or by hitting the crossbar and running for the rebound. Usually, you do not have the actual chance to avoid these goals even with a world class defend line. I would be glad if I could try this game with a memory emulator, so I can reload a few seconds older state and see that the same things happen or not.
Some says that this years FIFA (15) is less railed, but as far as I see it is not that much better. It still wants to make every match memorable, surprise-full and tense, when in the real life most of the matches are simple and boring. This game is suitable for some light-minded play with my friends, but nothing more.

Perfectly good tackles run off to the opposition 9 times out of ten. Defenders have no idea what defending is, and prefer to run away from the attackers as soon as a chip shot comes in, allowing them an easy crack at goal. Beginner mode was a good start for me as I did not know how to play the game at all but after a while, one should truly up the difficulty to enjoy the complexity of the game itself. It just gets boring and unrealistic to rack up 200 + goals every year on the beginner settings....

I would however, like to see visible player contracts and/or an ability to manually trade a player to another team instead of being bolted down to a team; as if this is a game based off of reality...

I'd also like to see a player start off with contract negotiations rather than just picking a team at the creation stage of career mode. Perhaps, even adding the Draft for Major League Soccer; they really need to do something to make Major League Soccer at least somewhat more appealing to hold a candle to the much more exciting and in depth English Leagues.

Speaking of which.. more Leagues would be good as well....

They left out the NASL and the USL-Pro Leagues for the US and they omitted the Skrill Leagues form England. IMO I enjoy the Skrill Leagues more as it gives me that Sunday League Futbol feel more and if my player ever gets really good, I'd feel like I actually earned that spot on Manchester United and didn't just slide into the job like Cristiano Ronaldo.

I have one of the best in the game, and he misses nearly every shot, and will literally jump out of the way of the ball at times. The only thing that Fifa 14 really has going for it is the physics engine, which does make it pretty realistic. The commentary was also pretty great, and made it feel like there were real people watching and commenting on your every move. It's not a bad game... but it does not feel like EA seriously wanted us to enjoy it. I can appreciate the many good things FIFA has over PES which I've recently started playing out of disgust.

But I speak mostly of Pro Clubs : how can the AI be so stupid? How can the bots mess up so many ball receptions, passes, choices or even refuse to pass the ball and go straight to the opponent so frequently? How can the game crash so often? Be so buggy? How come dangerous plays at 45th and 90th minutes always result in a goal? Why the ridiculous deflections? Why the sick collision engine?

I remember the days when you used to have an empty/full circle under the player to let you know whether you had the ball or not... Fifa used to be so good. Now you make a tackle attempt and you realize you actually had the ball so you just lost it with a pass. Or you make a dribble but the ball went a bit far, so you change direction hoping to get away from defenders with the ball and you actually get away from them... without the ball, without having pressed any pass, or shot button.
Is this simulation? Then why so many confusions? IRL, I would know I do have the ball.

Every time you get close to another player or the referee, you get sent bouncing meters away by an invisible force even if you're actually tougher and fitter than the other person. And whenever the CPU decides you can't make a quick change of direction (don't get me wrong, the idea is good, but the implementation is horrible), you're forced to keep going the wrong way or you get stuck. Is this simulation? Then why do I feel heavier without the ball than with the ball?

Oh, and a longer range camera would be nice, just like in the old days.

There's a lot to like, as usual, especially outside of pro clubs (a great invention but messed up), but this year there's also sooooooooooooo much to hate about the game...

The only reason I haven't fully migrated to PES is the absence of an on line pro club mode. Rest assure i will if they create one.

It is one of the worst sports games i have ever played. The passing and defensive bugs in this game make it completely unplayable. For example Not letting you switch to certain players, hardly ever passing to the right player, when you finally, by some sort of miracle, pass to the right player the computer decides you didn't want to be that player and makes you the guy next to him, when on defense they hardly ever switch you to the player desired and who ever you do switch to likes to either freeze in place for a moment or continue running in the direction he was running regardless of what i want him to do(I've tried to change the settings for this but that somehow makes, at times, switching players somewhat impossible as it will never select the man i want to be no matter how many times i hit LB). I have tried every remedy for this passing situation, I've tried putting all passing settings on manual, on assisted on semi assisted and they all have different flaws that make passing the ball the most frustrating thing in sports game history. It is straight up impossible to ever accomplish what you see on the field and makes you want to throw your controller straight threw your monitor. Because of this the only way to score in this game is to get it to the corners and cross it, or from corner kicks which makes for the dullest version of soccer i have ever been a part of. Zero excitement and strictly header goals, which don't even make you feel good.

Other things that make this game terrible are the difficulty level settings, on professional i can school the computer 6-0(and i enjoyed scoring zero of those six goals) but on world class forget about it i can't even get a touch in. So there is no decent level of competition for me against the computer and i like to play manager mode. Which brings me to manager mode. Thank you very much for completely destroying it EA. The new scouting system is a complete waste of time. It can not find a player worthy of the first team and if you select anymore than 3-4 criteria it will find no one(5 star scouts). it is just completely broken and does not work and EA does nothing to fix it. I also have a huge issue with simulating games, I ideally like to play every game but sometimes you just want to get to the next game if its a huge game or something. When simulating my team hardly ever wins even if it is a lower division team ill pull off a 2-1 nail bitter. It just seems completely biased in the opponents favor all of the time rather than being a true simulation.

The only reason that this game gets 2 points is for the be a pro mode which isn't straight trash juice but rather lose garbage on the top of the pile. Don't get me wrong its still garbage but its the best of the garbage. Not all the switching player bugs are present because you are locked into one player sooo its got that going for it but aside from that players are constantly avoiding the ball thinking i mam passing to someone else and just buggy AI really bog it down. But it is not nearly as bad as the vs mode.

This is my first review and one of the first games that has made me so angry that i had to go tell the internet to beware of it. Please do yourself a massive favor and save yourself hours of frustration and avoid this game at all costs. Your heart and brain will thank you. That is all and again please please please don't support EA and this garbage title and never ever ever purchase this game. If you want a soccer game please go with FIFA 13 or a non EA title.
