Only idiots pay 50 dollars for an update. The developers want us to pay their sleeping this year. They have to show less greed next year. Yes it is the best Football game so far but it still needs more care.

The Fact, that EA decided not to implement the new engine is pretty laughable. The graphics are nowhere near the console version, overall it feels like im playing a 2008 game. Yes i know, graphic isnt everything, but personally i enjoy a realistic looking football game rather than this piece of old technology.

Overall, this feels like a minor update compared to Fifa 2013.

    This isn't football.
I'm a football fan, I've played most if not all FIFA's since 1997, same for PES franchise which is currently worse than FIFA, still that doesn't make FIFA good, far from it.

When you look at the evolution of this game, each time they make a new one, they fix some problems and they create new ones, some of this broken mechanics are hard to understand since they were fixed in the previous game, it's like they break the game on purpose so people go buy the next one in the hope that "that thing" they hate is fixed.

FIFA 2013 was a pretty good game, but it was completely broken by one single mechanic, Strenght/Balance. In FIFA 2013 all you had to do was trample the opponent and its done, players just couldn't hold the ball, no matter how good or strong.

FIFA 2014 fixes this but breaks completely dribbling, acceleration and passing to some extent.
The AI is awful, the AI is incapable of scoring goals against the AI.
When the AI attacks, all teams feel like they are the same, no long passes, no nothing, its like watching Barcelona playing against Barcelona every game, the only difference is that this Barcelona's sometimes play better and sometimes play worse.
AI defenders will always guess what you are going to do, it's just plain annoying, difficulty through annoyance is not difficulty, its laziness by the programmers.
Half of the goals are: Player A shoots, ball hits the post, ball goes into Player B that scores a goal without opposition.

So in the end, we have a couple of problems in FIFA 2013 fixed and the rest of the game is at least partially broken.

All they had to do was to fix the "holding up the ball" in FIFA 2013 and FIFA 2014 would be the best football simulator ever made.

Scoring goals on freekicks still feels like complete luck.
The graphics are exactly the same. Quite crap tbh, I expect more than directx9 from a full priced in late 2013.

Why am I stuck with dreaming about features which was in football games 20 years ago?
Why is there so few savegame slots? Like why?

I got last years fifa when it came on sale. I suggest you do the same with this one. Esp if you own last years version. It is complete waste of your money.

I'm disappointed, the game tries to be realistic but unfortunately can not. Defenders give bicycle kick all the time, and this was what irritated me most, apart from that, try to be more realistic, just leaving the game boring and bland, if I want extreme realism in a game of soccer, I would go to a stadium, would not pay for a game that owes much.

It is one of the worst sports games i have ever played. The passing and defensive bugs in this game make it completely unplayable. For example Not letting you switch to certain players, hardly ever passing to the right player, when you finally, by some sort of miracle, pass to the right player the computer decides you didn't want to be that player and makes you the guy next to him, when on defense they hardly ever switch you to the player desired and who ever you do switch to likes to either freeze in place for a moment or continue running in the direction he was running regardless of what i want him to do(I've tried to change the settings for this but that somehow makes, at times, switching players somewhat impossible as it will never select the man i want to be no matter how many times i hit LB). I have tried every remedy for this passing situation, I've tried putting all passing settings on manual, on assisted on semi assisted and they all have different flaws that make passing the ball the most frustrating thing in sports game history. It is straight up impossible to ever accomplish what you see on the field and makes you want to throw your controller straight threw your monitor. Because of this the only way to score in this game is to get it to the corners and cross it, or from corner kicks which makes for the dullest version of soccer i have ever been a part of. Zero excitement and strictly header goals, which don't even make you feel good.

Other things that make this game terrible are the difficulty level settings, on professional i can school the computer 6-0(and i enjoyed scoring zero of those six goals) but on world class forget about it i can't even get a touch in. So there is no decent level of competition for me against the computer and i like to play manager mode. Which brings me to manager mode. Thank you very much for completely destroying it EA. The new scouting system is a complete waste of time. It can not find a player worthy of the first team and if you select anymore than 3-4 criteria it will find no one(5 star scouts). it is just completely broken and does not work and EA does nothing to fix it. I also have a huge issue with simulating games, I ideally like to play every game but sometimes you just want to get to the next game if its a huge game or something. When simulating my team hardly ever wins even if it is a lower division team ill pull off a 2-1 nail bitter. It just seems completely biased in the opponents favor all of the time rather than being a true simulation.

The only reason that this game gets 2 points is for the be a pro mode which isn't straight trash juice but rather lose garbage on the top of the pile. Don't get me wrong its still garbage but its the best of the garbage. Not all the switching player bugs are present because you are locked into one player sooo its got that going for it but aside from that players are constantly avoiding the ball thinking i mam passing to someone else and just buggy AI really bog it down. But it is not nearly as bad as the vs mode.

This is my first review and one of the first games that has made me so angry that i had to go tell the internet to beware of it. Please do yourself a massive favor and save yourself hours of frustration and avoid this game at all costs. Your heart and brain will thank you. That is all and again please please please don't support EA and this garbage title and never ever ever purchase this game. If you want a soccer game please go with FIFA 13 or a non EA title.

The game-play is good, flowing and marginally more realistic than previous years. However, as with all FIFA titles, when compared to last years, not massively. There is still a cadre of people playing FIFA 13 online, so if that is what you are interested in, I wouldn't recommend the outlay for slightly better graphics and updated teams. FIFA 14 is a substantial improvement on FIFA 12, but FIFA 13 is a good point between the two if you already own a copy of 13. Yet I still find something different about FIFA 14; something that makes me glad I bought it. When going up against the AI I find that they adjust themselves to the game. Playing multiple games against the same team but with my team different caused different styles. Teams play more like they are famous for; Barcelona dominate possession, Manchester City go for attacking while being vulnerable at the back, Chelsea remain hard to break down. This is good.

Overall, is FIFA 14 worth it if you have FIFA 13? Probably not. Is it a good game? Definitely. If you didn't get FIFA 13? I would definitely say worth it.

There aren't 5, just two, either the AI acts retarded and you can do anything you want, or, in the second scenario, on legendary, your players look like the have a serious phobia for the ball. -Added momentum
    -More proactive AI
    -Fixed pace problem

    Cons:

-Players all play too similarly Mertesacker shouldn't be able to keep up with Neymar or Falco yet thats exactly what happens.
-Passing in FIFA is still light-years behind PES
-New Ignite engine not used on PC port
    -Headers are the new pace.

The Marking is pretty low. You can score a goal pretty easy this way. Pace does not matter anymore in this game and the heading, also, it's useless. Players that are really strong like Ibrahimovici or Puyol are being thrown out of the way like rag dolls because that is FIFA logics.

The only thing that I like about this FIFA is that they changed the menus and how career works.
Online pro is still a fight to get on a spot with the pro because they have the same bad system were there is no match making by the role/position you play.

Let's start with the good side, which will take considerably less space than my rant about the game following this paragraph. EA has completely overhauled the menus in the game. It is very Windows 8-esque that takes some getting used to, but is ultimately an upgrade over previous versions. Of course, we have new licenses (most of them South American), which is also nice to see. Graphics are okay (not on par with many other PC titles, but whatever), and you have more than enough options to customize your game, just like every year.

But that's about it. I'll point out the downsides now:

First, of course, is the issue that the PC version of the game doesn't get the next-gen engine, but is stuck with a current-gen console port instead. In addition, EA decided to create more "realism", slowing down the game a lot, which really only leads to frustration instead of immersion. And it's not even that the developer changed the pace to make the players run slower, but also the reaction times of the players are utterly laughable. Fair enough, top teams are just about playable, but if you want to play a League 2 team in career mode, you'll have to prepare back up controllers to be used in cases of wrecking them in frustration. Additionally, you'll have a player chill on the floor after a diving header or a loss of balance, seemingly ignorant to anything happening around him. If this wasn't annoying enough, somehow EA decided to completely leave the extremely dense AI as it was before, again leading to some extremely frustrating moments. You'll have players running around like headless chickens when ordering your team mates to pressure, and attackers running straight into you when you beat the last defender, of course messing up your chance. Attacking is very tedious in other ways as well, however, as the slow pace of the game will become a huge burden when playing weaker teams that will park the bus.

It's not like the game is completely flawed, but come on, EA. I honestly thought they were going to pay more attention to PC after the recent versions have been on par with their console counterparts, but apparently not anymore.

Clearly, you can get used to the game, but it takes a lot of patience (which many don't have) to get there. It's really a chore to play and it's honestly the first FIFA I've regretted to buy this far.

The gameplay is stale, bad responsivity in gameplay, and a lot of the movement is done outright by AI which is unbelivably frustrating. Graphics the same sound as worthless as it always has been. Expand

It's unfortunate that there are so few football games available these days. The potential for someone to create a genuine tactical simulation has never been more possible but it seems both EA and Konami have lost their way when trying to emulate the game.

Fifa 14, exactly the same as its predecessors has created an immensely powerful and perfect football game engine but then dumbed it down to appeal to the teen 'football hero'. As a result, and despite their desire to slow the game down and introduce more of a tactical and team play element, the same failings continue to appear in the game. The 'quick win' elements of using assists to place a pass or chip inch perfect to a player would be less insufferable if the defensive AI intelligence wasn't one brain cell away from a Geordie girl. Basic positioning, tracking, marking - things that a footballer learns in school seem to be lost and this is known and exploited by players who want to 'win at all costs' rather than play attractive football.

I can only hope that Konami recover their position as they appear to be the only hope for having someone create a game that appeals to real footballers and not simply kids who want to exploit a game engine to give them some bizarre sense of achievement when they chip in their 100th goal using exactly the same method they have for every other one.

A step further away from Arcade and a step nearer to the simulation we imagined while playing PES6. I'm loving the skills (realistic at last), the ball physics (very good, but still need work) and the player physics. Not so much the AI (specially goalkeepers). Aerial game needs improvement, but defense is awesome.

It happend with SimCity....and almost every game the released last years. Why is the game still not good enoughere are 30 examples:
1.The AI of you teammates is just horrible. Always run too late or start running when the need to stay in position.
    2. horrible first touch. a 86 player will have problems controlling easy balls.
    3. FUT market crashes always
    4. Rain makes playing impossible. Ball bounces way too far.
    5. Keepers jump wrong direction.
    6. Keepers will hit the ball over the bar instead of catching.
    7. An 90 sprint player that has a headstart can loose a sprintduel from a 70 sprint player, only becaus he has te ball.
    8. just as always backs will never stay on their place.
    9. Offside sometimes doensn't work.
    10. Keepers sometimes shocks and misses a simple ball completely.
    11. FUT Connenction crashes even with the fastest internet and pc. If in game, it will simulate a defeat or tie or win (simulates by current score). Will cost you some seasons.
12 The game reacts too slow on your moves, using awsome controllers.
13 Sometimes it takes ages to connect online/fut. keep getting messages like player left, etc. Still having awsome pc and internet.
    14. If you don't won't to play FUT against slow connection player and you will leave and search again...you keep getting same slow connection player... this can easily take 15 min...because you have to wait untill someone else wants to play against him.
    15. When game starts in FUT in someone will leave after 1min. Your score is a tie.....
    16. Never get good rare players in fifa packs. Almost impossible to get a decent 80+ player.
    17. Defenders never hold line. for example when you take a free kick and the opponent heads the ball to his striker....your defenders are nowhere so the striker can walk one on one with te keeper....Unrealistic.
18 If je pass a ball to player you has a perfect line to the ball but there is another player around.....big change you will get te other player so your perfect attack end.
19 A lot of times you cannot get the player you would want to get, but you will get a player that is like the furtest away from the ball.
20 Fast throw ins are just horrible. It take ages to get the ball or a player runs like an entire field to get the ball and once he has te ball they stop en give you a regular throwi in.
21 If the ball is on te right of the player and the players weak foot is the left, he will still can takes the shot with its left.
22 Shooting is just horrible slow. Seconds between pulling his leg back and hitting the ball what makes it very easy to block.
23 a lot of times he cannot shoot at once but the players first need to touch ball.
24 Playing online against people who are using the shoot assistance (almost all) can be impossible. Every time the press the shoot button they will shoot hard on goal and most of the time score. So you will get a lot of games 2 shots 2 goals....
25 Fut coins for player without assistance should give you a lot more coins because it's like 10times harder. now you will get like 50... should be more like 250 for only when you play withou shooting assistance.
    26. Button for calling second player to preasure is the same as the one that you will let the ball go through you legs (dont's now the word in english).....result the don't block passes but the will run towards players to let the ball be passed between their legs. Also if you manage the get the ball but also use a second player to preasure.....you will lose the ball because now you will let the ball go between your legs.
27 A lot of times you will get the ball but once you have it you will shoot it away because the button of standing tackle and shooting is the same and the enginge doesn't regconize that you only wanted to get the ball. So click twice on standing tackle, once you have the ball you will shoot it.
28 A lot of times thge keeper doesn't comes out of his goal when you press the button to do it. You just have to be lucky if he wants to get out.
    29. player of 1,60m can easily win a headingduel of a guy that is 1,90m because his general stats are better or for a random reason. So giovinco can win heading duels of David Luiz even if David Luiz is on the better spot to head.
    30. and of course there are like 100 hundred bugs of AI in gameplay. Like players falling over each other while no ball is around. Not going to name the other 99. A lot more bugs than the previous games. And no bug of the previous games is actually resolved. So fifa 15 will have 130bugs for sure

This year it's slow pace is FIFAs best feature, there really isn't a perfect play that always works and that is awesome, there is much more to a match than ever before. Well, the Career Mode isn't that great, but it never was (although the scouting system is pretty neat) but who buys FIFA wor the Singleplayer? The Multiplayer part is really great, Pro Club is much more challenging than last year, which makes it kind of frustrating too. But for me the real star of this game is the 2 Player Coop Season. With a good mate you can have fun for hours straight, and even if you're in the first division there is always the spur to make it to the top of the leaderboards. Finally competitive 2vs2 in FIFA. Bravo EA, thats something I've never said about that company before.

I also kinda dig the new menus, the soundtrack and the atmosphere (just listen to the stadium anouncers!

FIFA is a tipical first impression game. It looks great for the first time, it looks good for the second time, but when you start to play regularly a career offline you will eventually experience lack of detail and content.
For example cpu transfer choices are random and stupid. You can easily sign a top player for free when he has six months left of his contract. CPU teams do not extend their stars' contracts. Also, loaning players out is a nightmare, you just cannot loan out enough players, and this is also pretty random. You cannot play them in a reserves team, because FIFA do not have one. Basically, you will need to include below 70 players in your 85+ squad from time to time. If you want your youth players to stay in the youth team, they will want to cancel their contracts by time, usually in the worst situation.
Match quality is also poor. The replays are lifeless and sometimes useless. Like when the keeper is kicking out the ball and an offside occurs. The camera does not shows the actual situation, only the goalie. The half time and full time cutscenes also very repetitive and lifeless. I also need to mention those cheap cup win scenes, which the game has only one. It is screwing up the whole atmosphere for a champions league win.
And now comes the worst part, the actual reason I hate the series for years now. The matches are simply run on rails. I become extremely frustrated when I beat Sunderland into the ground with a 3 times in a row champion in my 5th season and they score a goal from their first attack in the 83rd minute making the results 3-1. I just want to play a clean game, but the cpu rarely let me to do it. 3-1 is a very common result, because I play mostly uneven matches in the BPL, still, they mostly have that one goal. There are some other nice results like 4-2, 2-0, 2-2, which the game likes pretty much. A football game is needed to be balanced and controlled, but not this much. Moreover, when the cpu scores a goal from first attack it usually does from a laughable position or by hitting the crossbar and running for the rebound. Usually, you do not have the actual chance to avoid these goals even with a world class defend line. I would be glad if I could try this game with a memory emulator, so I can reload a few seconds older state and see that the same things happen or not.
Some says that this years FIFA (15) is less railed, but as far as I see it is not that much better. It still wants to make every match memorable, surprise-full and tense, when in the real life most of the matches are simple and boring. This game is suitable for some light-minded play with my friends, but nothing more.

Actually you could just use your mother's internet-only Walmart computer to play this game.
    Ok, now to the game.
I have played plenty of FIFA titles in the past, going all the way back to Sega Genesis. I knew the exploits, I knew the limitations of the AI or the shortcomings of ball handlings and lack of AI. But I haven't played a Fifa game since 2009, not counting my mobile app (2012). Let me tell you something. This is really FIFA (insert any date from the past 20 years) with addition of extra graphics, animations and SOME improvements overall. Yes, they slowed down play, yes, they improved AI so I can't just slowly walk across the field without being challenged, yes scoring is harder.
But play it for several days and the novelty wears off, and you feel like you are playing the same game you played 5-10 years ago.
AI still attacks with sometimes unbelievable ball control and untouchable ball players, regardless of their condition and status. It seems like their overall grade only counts if they are your team! Especially on harder difficulties.
Now coming about the difficulties. The lowest (amateur) settings means, that the AI is just making very laughable mistakes. It doesn't look realistic, since the players still attack with the fury and ball control precision they do in higher difficulties, but they seem to get a brain-fart attack. run and forget what they were about to do and leave the ball for you. It looks superficial and just laughable. It gets so easy, that it will bore you to death, you will be looking for challenge in no time and crank up the difficulty. As you go higher on the difficulty level, they become near untouchable. No matter how much you slide or block, they seem to have an energy-shield around them and the ball is like tied to their legs when they gain possession. They don't even have to dribble, just run with the ball. You try the same and they tackle you in no time. That's not how "difficulty" should work. I should still have my level of game, while the AI would employ better tactics and reading my strategy better and try to block me the best it can.
So in a summary, this feels old and tired already, seen it before, played it before, although there are now less exploits and the AI may lack less than 5 years ago, but it's far from anything you'd expect in a software in 2013.
So why I gave 6? Because all the modes and options you can try, and playing it occasionally, you may have some fun for a while. But old school FIFA players don't expect to see much new, and newcomers you will see the shortcoming and mediocre game mechanics and the severely outdated graphics within no time.

Fifa 6.23.19236.139a isn't too bad, but $60? I mean come on... Played it at a friend's house and it was certainly enjoyable, but freaking $60 for (as indicated by the beginning of the review) what is for all intents and purposes an update or patch? You can kiss my if you think I'm paying that much.

I love the FIFA franchise, I've been playing it for years, but I must say FIFA 14 is very disappointing. There are changes to the gameplay which makes me feel angry each time I give it another try. The complains below are mostly from my FUT Professional or Worldclass matches.
    - It feels like there is a delay between controller and the player
    - sprint button is almost useless here

    - heading is OP
-your team mates AI is bad (especially marking)
-the computer is literally cheating, his players are reacting on your controller input immediately, but because your player's action is so delayed (especially shooting), you lose the ball and your player looks like some slow motion retard
    - FUT is still same, low match or competition rewards and of course I purchased dozens of packs, for both coins and FIFA points, mostly during happy hours and usually I get 2-3 rare contracts, thank you EA!

If you play semi-pro, you might still enjoy the new gameplay, but anything above that becomes frustrating very soon.

I read a different review that said "much more realistic, much less fun". and I completely agree. The control on the ball is much more realistic, as is the first touch mechanic and all those things. Unless you're counterattacking it never seems like there is enough space to build a play. Players close down on you too quickly and since the ball control is less tight it can be very difficult to keep possession in tight areas or get past a couple defenders. Yes this is realistic but it's so not fun. Plus it includes some frustrations from the previous versions: ball clipping through feet/head at the worst times possible, computer AI perfectly controlling powerful blocked shots, occasionally it is frustrating/boring trying to regain possession when the computer decides to be a hog. Rating this game in cursing exclamations per game I'd say Fifa 13 = 2-3, Fifa 14 = 10-15. Heavily frustrating. If you're planning on buying it maybe just update the squads for 13 and wait to see what 15 has in store Expand

It just gets boring and unrealistic to rack up 200 + goals every year on the beginner settings....

I would however, like to see visible player contracts and/or an ability to manually trade a player to another team instead of being bolted down to a team; as if this is a game based off of reality...

I'd also like to see a player start off with contract negotiations rather than just picking a team at the creation stage of career mode. Perhaps, even adding the Draft for Major League Soccer; they really need to do something to make Major League Soccer at least somewhat more appealing to hold a candle to the much more exciting and in depth English Leagues.

Speaking of which.. more Leagues would be good as well....

They left out the NASL and the USL-Pro Leagues for the US and they omitted the Skrill Leagues form England. IMO I enjoy the Skrill Leagues more as it gives me that Sunday League Futbol feel more and if my player ever gets really good, I'd feel like I actually earned that spot on Manchester United and didn't just slide into the job like Cristiano Ronaldo.

First off, full disclosure - I'm a PES fan, and the last FIFA I really played was way back in 1996 I believe. Compared to that version of FIFA this game is really quite good. But it's nowhere near as good as PES 2006 was before KONAMI lost their way. And looking at the latest incarnation of FIFA it becomes apparent PES at least partially has lost its way in an attempt to imitate FIFA.First off, full disclosure - I'm a PES fan, and the last FIFA I really played was way back in 1996 I believe. Compared to that version of FIFA this game is really quite good. But it's nowhere near as good as PES 2006 was before KONAMI lost their way. And looking at the latest incarnation of FIFA it becomes apparent PES at least partially has lost its way in an attempt to imitate FIFA.

    Here's a quick breakdown of what I don't like in FIFA 14:
    - Everyone is running in treacle; the game is a lot slower than English football. PES made this mistake too and it makes the game less fun.
    - Passing is slow and reinforces the feel that you're playing football in a highly viscous liquid environment
    - First touch pinball; most of the players can't control the ball at their feet, and it pings around madly with nothing you can do about it. This is another FIFA feature that has infected PES as well
    - Almost every shot is blocked by defenders and unlike in PES, you can't easily create space using the basic controls. FIFA expects every player to be performing skill moves and tricks to create space. This isn't how football works.
    - Over-reliance on skill moves (see above) - this also applies to other parts of the pitch. The issue is confused by the fact that not everyone can pull off all moves, and even the most basic moves might fail to be pulled off by some players. This also makes learning the game confusing when you have no idea if you're not doing the right move or the player just can't pull it off. I'm not talking about particularly skillful tricks here, but simple changes in direction and stepovers.
    - Defending is weird; it's really easy to win the ball back with your attackers and midfielders. It's really hard to win it back with your defenders. It should be the other way around. The reverse applies when you have the ball - getting the ball to your attackers is a doddle, not losing the ball with your attackers within a few microsends is a challenge
    - Goalkeepers are overpowered, one-on-ones are extremely hard to score
    - Shots tend to go either straight at the keeper, into the corner or just wide (unless you really miskick). Maybe it's just me, but I can't figure out how the aiming is supposed to work on any setting other than manual (which is far too difficult for me).
    - Passes are iffy in that they often go to the wrong man; or they go to the right man, but you're given control of a man in between. I have yet to figure out how to take control of the player the pass is actually going to. The AI likes moving this player away from the ball, or has him stand there watching the ball dribble into touch.
    - Through balls are almost always intercepted, but lofted through balls always reach their target with the attacker in the clear.
    - The UI is a mess. Not sure why it gets so much praise. Starting the game requires you to make far too many choices, such as choosing the same settings file you've always used. I have no idea why the designers thought that you'd want to create a new settings file each time you play (the default). Or why you need to confirm that you want to load a saved game multiple times after choosing to continue said saved game.
    - In the same vein, the squad selection screen doesn't give you any indication as to what positions a player can play in aside from their primary position. You're supposed to remember this. There is a function (not always available) to switch through the players that can play in the selected position, but this only works before a home game - it's bugged when away and you can't use it.
    - Painful transfer system in career mode, made even more painful by a poor UI
    - Transfer deadline day requires you to sit around for 10 minutes pressing X. Great fun.
    - Skill games before every match (no thank you)
    - Celebrations that are hard to skip (there's a button combo, but I have no idea what it is after remapping the controls)
    - Match highlights that aren't highlights while skipping actual highlights

    What I like:
    - The player change mechanic is far superior to PES, which really made the game infuriating to play. FIFA's option to only have players switch automatically when "air balls" are played is how it should be. The ability to change players with the right stick is nice, albeit somewhat finicky at times (but great for corners/free kicks). The AI that determine what player you switch to when using the switch player button could do with some work though.

What I don't care about either way:
    - Licenses: FIFA has some. If you really care about licensing over gameplay, kudos to you

FIFA 14 isn't a terrible game and I only paid 10 smackeroos for it, and definitely got my money's worth. But it isn't a particularly good game either. It's not much better or worse than PES 2013, but that's not really high praise either. There must be a market for a football game out there that is great fun to play and actually feels like football - but for now you're going to have to make do with either PES or FIFA.

    1. UT (Ultimate team) is a wonderful idea but so badly executed due to gameplay, cheap OP players and packs of which you can buy with in game coins or your own money.
-OP players such as David Luiz, should not exist, if you watch him play for real, you'll see he is a reckless, dirty player who cannot do much other than try to take a longshot every 2 minutes (most of which fail), he's far too fast despite it claiming it's only 77 or 72 pace, he scores in every match, he wins every header, etc. Essentially he's better than Franz Beckenbauer.
-Packs, or more specifically gold packs, these tend to be a complete waste of time, you could spend £40 on packs and not get a single decent player, it's just money grabbing.
    2. Offsides, oh dear, it appears my strikers are offside for the 5th time in the first half. It's as if they can't grasp the concept of it.
    3. Referee's, get in the way far too common, don't call out flat out fouls which is incredibly aggravating.
    4. Did footballers forget how to position themselves? Your players seem to run around aimlessly on the pitch as if they were cows upon a field.
    5. Dribbling, sometimes it's great, sometimes it's bad.
    6. Players feel far too heavy

So aside from it being bad, annoying, and addictive
it has the potential to be really fun and feel like a game.
Personally I think they shouldn't aim for being a simulator, I used to love the arcadey feel the older ones gave, where I had fun playing it.

I can appreciate the many good things FIFA has over PES which I've recently started playing out of disgust.

But I speak mostly of Pro Clubs : how can the AI be so stupid? How can the bots mess up so many ball receptions, passes, choices or even refuse to pass the ball and go straight to the opponent so frequently? How can the game crash so often? Be so buggy? How come dangerous plays at 45th and 90th minutes always result in a goal? Why the ridiculous deflections? Why the sick collision engine?

I remember the days when you used to have an empty/full circle under the player to let you know whether you had the ball or not... Fifa used to be so good. Now you make a tackle attempt and you realize you actually had the ball so you just lost it with a pass. Or you make a dribble but the ball went a bit far, so you change direction hoping to get away from defenders with the ball and you actually get away from them... without the ball, without having pressed any pass, or shot button.
Is this simulation? Then why so many confusions? IRL, I would know I do have the ball.

Every time you get close to another player or the referee, you get sent bouncing meters away by an invisible force even if you're actually tougher and fitter than the other person. And whenever the CPU decides you can't make a quick change of direction (don't get me wrong, the idea is good, but the implementation is horrible), you're forced to keep going the wrong way or you get stuck. Is this simulation? Then why do I feel heavier without the ball than with the ball?

Oh, and a longer range camera would be nice, just like in the old days.

There's a lot to like, as usual, especially outside of pro clubs (a great invention but messed up), but this year there's also sooooooooooooo much to hate about the game...

The only reason I haven't fully migrated to PES is the absence of an on line pro club mode. Rest assure i will if they create one.

FIFA 14 has the same old problems as previous incarnations, but it remains the same great football game. [Dec 2013, p.84]

I’m not sure there is enough extra content to warrant a purchase from FIFA 13 unless you’re a diehard fan and want the up to date player lists, but if it’s been a couple of years since you’ve looked at a FIFA title, then there is no reason why you shouldn’t be getting FIFA 14.

FIFA 14 is the reassuring central-defensive midfielder of the series. Dependable, rather than revelatory. Physical, tenacious and tight on space. It does the job without fuss, but also lacks flair.
