A cute platform game. 2D/3D manipulation and twist are interesting. The only problem is that the rate of loss of interest is very high.

Great game! It's charming and beautiful with an amazing soundtrack and an excellent premise. I love how chill it is, you just traverse through these awe-inspiring levels collecting cubes, with no pressure or enemies to fight. There is quite a bit of backtracking, and the ending doesn't really make much sense, but overall, it's one of the best puzzle games I've ever played.

A masterpiece in game design, as a game though it doesn't do enough for me.

I also find navigating the map annoying due to the nodes and stuff; makes it feel so complex. That's all though. I enjoy the game and play it in short bursts. Waiting to see what happens further down the journey. Expand

You know when you sometimes see a piece of entertainment and while watching it you wonder how was this even made? Fez is absolutely that kind of a game. Throughout the entire game I was thinking, "Wow, the guy who made this level actually thought of this! How could they even come up with this? How did they even think this?", because of how simple yet complicated the levels look. And what's even surprising is that this is an indie game, not one made by a big company.

Fez takes place in a pixel based world, where the player can rotate the screen in 3D. We can move the screen in angles that are multiples of 90°. The player has to collect 32 cubes that are scattered all over the open world. They can either be in chunks or a whole big piece. Some chunks can be found just littered in places while in other places you have to take some complicated measures to get just one chunk. There are also anti-cubes that are harder to find. They finish the need to find a cube as they remove the requirement of one cube from the doors that we need the cubes to enter. There are no enemies, no need for any kind of action, just pure adventure. The only way you can die is by falling from a high place, and then also you immediately respawn to the place form where you fell.

There were many problems in this game of course, like the level map. It was very difficult to navigate. It did not even give an option to fast travel, and it was impossible to know which door leads to which place considering the environment shown by the glitchy cube didn't show anything properly. It is also really hard to understand what we are supposed to do when we are in certain levels. I did complete the game but I wasn't able to get every cube. I got 4 anti cubes because of which I completed the game and as soon as I did, my save file was gone and now there is no way I can ever go back and find out how I was suppsoed to get those pieces. This shall forever remain a mystery for me now. Also the maps made no sense whatsoever. I have beaten the game but I have still not understood what the maps do, and Google does not help in any way.

Fez is a must play that I'd definitely recommend to anyone whose PC cannot handle the heavy load of a AAA title and wants to try something family friendly and challenging. The pixel quality really makes this game look interesting. I hope the makers of this game have an even more successful project in the future.

it's not considered a bad game, but it's not all the way to REALLY GOOD, i haven't really found any bugs, or glitches within the game, but the storyline is alright, and a lot of repetitive backtracking is a bit annoying, the game mechanics are really good, like the way that they turn with 2D/3D manipulation, but what really causes my rating to be a bit lower is really how the storyline andit's not considered a bad game, but it's not all the way to REALLY GOOD, i haven't really found any bugs, or glitches within the game, but the storyline is alright, and a lot of repetitive backtracking is a bit annoying, the game mechanics are really good, like the way that they turn with 2D/3D manipulation, but what really causes my rating to be a bit lower is really how the storyline and how you're supposed to progress in the game. But literally a few things annoyed me wildly during the walk-through: some very uncomfortable bugs(for example, there is a level on the map where the QR code is visible on zone icon, but in reality it is not there, because another secret was passed and this one was reset) and it’s very dumb, in my opinion, solution with a "weekly clock hand" on the watch.
And still, there are a lot of respect to Phil for his little pixel masterpiece. So 9/10.

A good game who's hubris stops it from being great. The gameplay is initially amusing and the aesthetic endlessly charming, but towards the end becomes unreasonably unfair. It's fun but doesn't want you leave satisfied.

Fun puzzles, awesome soundtrack and cute graphics make FEZ a really good a memorable game. But if you're trying to get ALL the cubes and achievements it comes off as a little bit tedious and repetitive.

One of the greatest masterpieces of games. The gameplay is astonishing and it changes from an action platform to a challenging puzzle game after you get the glasses. It does not have much story but it is enough for its size.

Fez feels like a platformer on zen mode where the main focus is to explore its vast world and take in the sights, which are really nice to look at. There are puzzles added in to make it a little challenging and to spur your curiosity. There are no enemies and you have unlimited lives, so you can play at your own pace without any pressure.

There are lots of secrets to unlock in the game which are gated behind puzzles that can be difficult to solve without the use of a guide. From what I understand, the puzzles are "optional," but only in the sense that although you'll need to complete a few of them to beat the game, you can pick and choose the ones you want to, so you can always do the easy ones and ignore the hard ones, which seem to revolve around codebreaking.

Overall, I couldn't give the game an 8 because it didn't really have a lot going for it. The enormous map that branches off into many directions is nice to explore, but that's all there is. The NPCs don't matter, the story is virtually nonexistent, and there is no actual goal besides collecting a bunch of yellow cubes. It was a decent indie game though, so it gets a 7 from me.

It's okay. The initial concept was clever, and made for some rather interesting game-mechanics... But it felt a bit like a novelty and once that novelty wore off, it got kinda boring.

I wasn't able to finish the game because I just couldn't really get myself amped up enough to care about finishing. So, maybe I'm missing out on something big and wonderful, but I just couldn't work myself

That said, as a puzzle-platformer, it was decent. Not necessarily the GOAT, but decent enough. I wouldn't suggest buying it unless you can get it on sale, or you really, REALLY love puzzle-platformers.

It's a great concept for a game, with a neat 3D mechanic. However, if you don't have consistent time to learn the geography of the world it's pretty hard to get from world to world.
