It becomes obvious quite quickly that the world is only existing right in front of you. Turn your head for 30 seconds, then look back, and it's a roll of the dice what you'll be seeing.
    The world feels extremely UNpersistent.
The emergent gameplay is fun, but becomes stale once you realize that stuff is being thrown at you just because you are there, not because they "run into you coming from far away".

Ok, so I understand that having a completely persistent world is difficult. You'd have to track and process AI for all NPC's everywhere, all the time. It's probably not doable, especially on the consoles. But in Far Cry 5 it seems like nothing is persistent at all. Even the things you are looking at. Following a deer? You can be certain that if it goes out of sight for 1 seconds, it'll be de-spawned and your hunting skills are suddenly pretty useless then. It's basically a game of luck if you manage to keep them in sight for long enough that they won't just disappear into thin air. Same goes for enemies. You will be followed and suddenly you'll notice that they've gone quiet. Not because you defeated them, but because the game has removed them completely. It's the one thing I will say sortof ruins FC5. The lack of persistence.

In-game silver bars currency is not a problem. Some complain about it, but really, just get the double fur perk and you'll have plenty of money. It was never a problem for me and I've pretty much maxed out my character and even buy special ammo if I feel like it. You basically only need the silver bars if you want the special-skin weapons, which was never something I cared for anyway. Let me point out that these special weapons have pretty much the same stats as the none-skinned ones, so it's not a big deal to not have them.

But really, it's a fun game. Just don't expect it to be Skyrim or Witcher 3. This is the light-weight type open world game, where the world is there, but nothing is going on anywhere but right in front of you.

PD El tema principal del menú (me refiero al soundtrack) es uno de los mas bellos que he escuchado en mi vida (y algunas canciones de los álbumes de la música del juego que sacaron)

The Montana landscape is beautiful; nuff said. Great gospel choral music and the old-school country tunes just add to the immersion.

No game's perfect, but I think Ubisoft made a decent effort with this one. Admittingly, the gunplay choices are a bit over-simplified, the bullet physics laggy at times, and the vehicle dynamics clunky; but, to be honest, it's a needle in a haystack problem; if don't go looking for it, you probably won't notice it's a big issue.

As for the plot, it is a bit far-fetched (and, at times, cringe-worthy), but hey, the game is called "Far Cry" for a reason; so don't be surprised when it's about a self-deluded hill-billy cult proclaming the post-apocalyptic testament as an excuse to takeover this sleepy rural Montana town, and no surprise, your job is to liberate it. But the great thing is you can do it in any order you want and at your pace. Word of advice: take time to explore the game, free roam across the sweeping landscapes and enjoy it; don't rush to tediously complete all the missions at once.

My two cents: It's worth it. Played 48+ hours of it. Fun solo. Fun-ner with mates in co-op (albeit, servers do drop-out at busier times like Saturday night which can be infuriating). Lots of shiggles to be had. Beautiful and wonderful open world game.

I think the people complaining either A) haven't given it enough of a chance B) just hate Ubisoft no matter what or C) Aren't FC fans in general... I have been into gaming my whole life (I'm 36 now) and I am pretty honest when it comes to game reviews but in this case I have no idea where the bad reviews are coming from.

I agree with the critic that said this was Ubisoft's best game ever. It's DEFINITELY the best out of the FC series. It's like if you took everything good about Far Cry and shook it up with a bit of GTA5. I mean GTA5 is incredible and epic (almost flawless?) and pretty much in a class of its own but I see nods in this game for sure. No game has torn me away from PUBG since it was in early pre-release and this one did it! It was obvious that Ubisoft took consumer feedback into consideration in every step of this game. No more climbing towers!

DUNIA looks amazing and barely uses any space with such a huge game, the graphics are on point, it's clearly been optimized for both the red and green team. I mean from day 1 I haven't experienced any glitches or crashes... That might even be a first with Ubisoft?

The only downside is yes, the plot falls flat a bit at times but some of the script writing and voice acting is just over the rails hilarious (in a good way). The game has me saying WTF an awful lot! The progression system is good - you play for weapon unlocks, perk rewards and cash. Cash can buy you weapons, vehicles, and other miscellaneous (like fly fishing rods!) items early if you bank enough. There are micro-transactions but they are kinda in the background and totally not necessary to use which is how it should be. There are lots of attachments for the vast array of weapons. Overall I am really impressed!!

In the evolution of Far Cry also Far Cry 5 is a masterpiece.
Ubisoft made everything alright: great graphics, fantastic immersion, realistic sound, beautiful landscapes, refreshing story setting, perfect gameplay mechanics.

Some of the most fun i've had with the games mechanics in a long time. Artistically, this game is a masterpiece. From the dirt flying through the air as you drop bombs on cultists, to the wildlife of the deep forest hunting.

Some other key elements is some of the audio work. lt is absolutely tremendous. The sound track blows me away as different tracks play through different scenarios as your gun fire echos through the forest.

Gameplay wise, It is great. The shooting mechanics are solid and feel satisfying without overdoing it. The AI could use some work though. I found some occasions where I felt like I was dealing with GTA V AI flying off the road when I start shooting. Also the game seemed like playing on hard was a healthy medium for me because the AI have such a hard time spotting you if you're careful. Sometimes I would peek out of a bush and shoot multiple RPG's at them and they wouldn't know where it would be coming from. Although there are some drawbacks in that field, the AI still know how to flank attackers, hide in the forest and get the jump on you, and their air support... one of the biggest most exhilarating things in this game is dealing with air support. Being creative in your encounters is encouraged and usually rewarded if executed correctly.

The CO-OP is almost a necessity when playing this game. Tackling through different bases with a friend might seem like a boring repetitive thing to do but we always had every fight go differently. Some encounters went as planned and some went very, very wrong. It is really helpful to have a friend back you up especially when **** hits the fan and they call reinforcements, shooting flares up through the air as helicopters and fighter planes rain death from above. When playing CO-OP, there is a tethering system meaning that you can only be so far from your partner otherwise you and your partner get sent back to the loading screen. There is a warning screen saying that you are too far away but when I am on air support duty and my friend is on the ground, i get that warning screen far too often and it becomes pretty annoying.

The new perk system they introduced is ok. Nothing too crazy. Almost like it was a downgrade from Far Cry 3s perk system. This makes getting perks only rewarding from having the extra ammo slots and extra health. So what happened to crafting? Crafting is pretty much thrown away and replaced by this dumbed down perk system except there is one perk that allows you to craft explosives and other home-made goodies but thats it.

The story of Far Cry 5 is more or less a repeat of what happened in 3 but with different characters. Some of the traditional drug trips are introduced along with other elements directly taken from the 3rd game. I dont want to spoil anything so really the only other thing I can say is that the story is VERY predictable. Almost like they didn't even try to surprise the player.

Overall, This game is an innovative piece of artwork with solid mechanics and gameplay with a couple issues with the AI and CO-OP.

Yes, there is micro-transactions in the game. It kind of blows my mind why they even added them in because it completely defeats the purpose of hunting/fishing in the wilderness and selling animal pelts/fish/skin for money which can be spent on having personal vehicles, weapons, and other tools. The items do not really seem inflated or influenced my the micro-transactions at all considering everything doesn't really need any hardcore grind for. It seems like the traditional shop in previous Far Crys that had shops. Its just another reason for people to just hate on this game when it doesn't need to even be there in the first place.

I know this review is a little early but this is just my personal take on the games release so far.

    Gameplay/Mechanics: 8.5
    Story: 6.5
    Graphic Design: 9.0
    Soundtrack: 9.0
    Compatibility on PC (G4560 w/ GTX 1060 3G) I know its potato but c'mon: 7.0

    Overall: 8.0

I will be updating this review as I play more of what the game has to offer.

    Thanks for reading :)

Far Cry 5 for the most part can seem like its simply re-tracing the steps of it's predecessors in a new setting. Dig deeper though and you will find a lot of little changes, nips and tucks which makes this installment the most complete experience since Far Cry 2. I wont get into the plot specifics or talk about the story but it is passable if not really anything we have not seen before.Far Cry 5 for the most part can seem like its simply re-tracing the steps of it's predecessors in a new setting. Dig deeper though and you will find a lot of little changes, nips and tucks which makes this installment the most complete experience since Far Cry 2. I wont get into the plot specifics or talk about the story but it is passable if not really anything we have not seen before. The real area where the game shines is in the expended game play options and the visual presentation. It looks gorgeous even on modest hardware and is very well optimized on even cheaper hardware.

The game is also nicely multi threaded with load being distributed fairly evenly even on a 16 thread processor. ultra settings at 1920 x 1080 and 60 fps is more than achievable with a mid range GPU ( Something like a RX 480 / 570 or GTX 1060 will have no trouble at 1080p)
The game also uses around 3Gb of VRAM at max settings at Full HD though meaning that you may need to turn down the settings if you are running an older card with 2GB of frame buffer.

The game world is open from the get go and is more of a sandbox - with no tower climbing to populate the map. missions and side quests are found by talking with the population of Hope County and this change alone adds to the games immersive nature. In saying that Far Cry 5 never takes itself too serious - perhaps why the story never really delves too deep into political issues - but this is all done in the name of fun.

    Which is most certainly is.

All in all its a gorgeous game, fantastically optimized and lets you loose in a dense, opportunity full sandbox wrapped up in a story that never gets too intrusive.

It feels larger than ever before, action moments are more frequent and the presentation is top notch.

If you like Far Cry games you will like this. it's not a revolution but it when it gets its hook's in you.. it's Bliss.

Blown away by the map editor for arcade. Very good concept. Also Ubisofts aim to support the life cycle of their games gives a positive feel to it.

    - AI needs work, seriously
    - Story could be better
    - Co-Op progression not shared like in Wildlands
    - No dialogue options for arcade characters limit the story telling

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's a shame that people don't understand the deeper meaning of this game's magnificent storyline. It puts the whole world in another perspective. A perspective that we in the real world should consider could actually be for the better. As it's maybe how it always was supposed to be before we created what earth is today. A place we created, soon a place we destroyed. Joseph was actually trying to do the right thing. The thing no one dares to do or speak loud about. He was trying to save the human race from ourselves. Don't get me wrong, I'm not insane. But life is precious and I'm not sure we have as much time as we think we have left to appreciate this beautiful gift we've been given. Because in the end, we will all die under the same feet of our own race. Just because we didn't have faith in each other. And of the cause, the ending is supposed to hit you this way. It's simply there to make you feel stupid because all the effort you went through with killing endless amount of people who actually just tried to save us from extinction is surely something that goes against ''gods will''. Cause, in the end, Joseph turns out as the good guy when he offers redemption ''in the eyes of god'' from our sins we've made throughout the whole game. This is clearly why there's no good ending. Cause why should there be a good ending when we were the bad guys all along? Expand

I'm 50 hours into the game, and I'd say I'm about 60% into the campaign, with a LOT more to do beyond that. I'm going to play the game for at least 100 more. Here's why.

Simply walking in Hope County is AMAZING. The level of immersion, the beautiful surrounding, the living and breathing environment is everything I could have hoped for within an open world game. I'm even enjoying fishing, which I thought I wouldn't care for.

There's plenty to be done, but I think the best way to do it is to just stroll around the map, reach places you haven't been before, and tackle the nearest objective - be it a prepper stash looking to be uncovered, a cult outpost to liberate, a story mission or just the occasional civilian that's about to be killed unless you save them. This is immersion at its best, and the design decisions Ubisoft had made into the game are nothing short of spectacular.

There are a few cons to the game, however, which is why I mentioned it deserves a 9. First of all, the story lacks the depth I would expect from such a setting; There's no emotional attachment to any of the characters - not really; And there are quite a few bugs - some graphics glitches and some audio problems around your guns for hire talking between them. But despite all that, I'm having a total blast.

I found many of the hating comments so hilarious that I have to react -
    1. "This is like Far Cry N" - DUH. What did you expect? To get Uncharted 4? If you don't like the Far Cry franchise, don't buy this game. It's better than the rest of them in terms of how the open world is set, and it's worse than some of them in terms of story. That's all.
    2. "Game is too easy" - I don't find it extremely easy on the Hard difficulty, but this isn't Dark Souls. This is not the same genre, simply put.
    3. "There's no direction" - Unbelievable. This is not CoD. This is an open world game. The whole idea is not to have a direction, but to make your own story.

I could go on and on, but this is ridiculous. You should buy this game - it's awesome. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going back to ruining Joseph Seed's day.

Not a bad entry into the Far cry family. Fun with plenty to do and best played with a friend. Props to Ubisoft for making a down to earth game featuring montana.

Pros: Game is a lot of fun, graphics are beautiful, helicopter is awesome, sniping is great.

Cons: Repetitive, inescapable captures with the "prove yourself" obstacle course/shooting drills. After 4 times i'm sick of it. Uninstalling.

This is more or less what you expect from a modern open world game -- while most of the game is just ok, once in a while you get these moments of chaotic emergent action which you want to tell other people about. My favorite moment was an attempt to clear a roadblock setup by cultists; while I was setting myself up to stealthily kill them one by one, a few resistance fighters showed up from nowhere and turned the whole thing into a chaotic firefight. More cultists arrived, and the fight became tense, when suddenly ***a runaway moose decided to flip a truck*** which then exploded near my enemies turning everything into a fiery nightmare. Anyway, the roadblock was gone... ok, it was replaced by a cemetery of charred vehicles which still blocked the road, but, hey, all the cultists were gone, mission accomplished! :D

The game has tons of interesting systems: there are grappling mechanics, ziplines, cars, trucks, boats, planes, helicopters, pets... You can even go fishing, and the world is beautifully rendered with its forests, mountains, rivers and lakes. And your companions, your enemies, random passersby, animals, water, all these things interact in interesting ways. Cougars hunt for deer and are ran over by ATVs, independently from what you are doing, but you still have enough control of the action to find the whole thing pleasant.

Well, with a few exceptions: there are a few instances where the game interrupts whatever you are doing to start a story mission even when you do not want it. These moments are very annoying (especially because the story missions which follow feel quite bland), but are very few and are not enough to turn this into a bad game.

I also found the villains underwhelming; they have lots of lines, but they do not reveal much of their characters beyond "we are deranged cultists, each one of us defined by a single character trait which features in every single line we say". Even the main villain has long speeches that felt a bit repetitive and which weren't that interesting to me.

Also, the game is slightly bloated with dull missions and collectibles. Well, at least you can buy maps which show the collectible's locations, and I must admit that the world is beautiful to explore... but I wish games did not have so many of these menial tasks which we players which are slightly OCD never manage to leave aside. Oh, and fishing with the mouse is way too cumbersome -- if you want to fish, use a controller (still boring, but at least doable).

A final negative point is the fact that you MUST use Ubisoft Connect on top of Steam to run this. Isn't one piece of DRM enough?

But, all in all, I had lots of fun with the 50hs I spent with this. Score: 84/100.

An engaging plot that avoids the usual purple-hair clichés. Well-developed NPCs with real character. A beautiful open-world that encourages skipping through the woods picking herbs and killing bears - just like the glory days of Skyrim. A well thought-out PC interface rather than the usual FisherPrice console ports.

FC5 feels like a breath of fresh air after a glut of crappy

I've tried far cry before and I didn't enjoy it (3). Mostly because I typically don't enjoy open world games. The difference is? Coop throughout the story. The game is EXTREMELY enjoyable when you have a friend to play with. Sections I'm sure as hell I'd be frustrated with end up being hilarious when there's someone there that could just revive you and negate the dumb death.

Atmosphere and music are beautiful and I LOVE how they handled the villains.

They forgot to add physics. What happened in the last 10 years? How is it possible FC2 has better physics than 2018 game?! Only if HD textures made a good game. Alas no. That's consolisation for you.

Far Cry 5 is a nice and funny FPS that you’ll enjoy most in co-op. The well-proven concept would deserve a rejuvenation and adding a story that is adequate to the rest of the game. [Issue#285]

This fresh take on the Far Cry franchise is clearly visible content-wise, but a tad more discrete on the style. If you're not bothered by the slightly repetitive formula, you'll enjoy the many strengths of this episode.

Far Cry 5 doesn’t propel the series forward — it just refines all of its elements and relegates the infamous towers to the dustbin of history. So if you‘re allergic to open worlds from Ubisoft, don’t say I didn’t warn you. But if you’re eager to meet new wacky characters, complete dozens of missions and enjoy the sights, welcome to Hope County, sinners!
