A huge plus was the posibility to play the campaingstory with a friend, without that I probably wouldn't finished the game.

In short: Fun to play with a friend but solo it is boring.

This is your basic Far Cry game - nothing more, nothing less. The assault rifle's accuracy is terrible, and it's not just because of bullet drop. You're basically not able to hit the broad side of a barn from 100 meters away. The rounds aren't just affected by the force of gravity, but apparently also by the rotation of the earth and extreme crosswinds/mini-cyclones. The bow and arrow, on the other hand, is extremely accurate in that the arrows are only affected by gravity, which is basically linear across distance. The graphics are great on PC, and the game runs flawlessly on an i7-8700K. The world is also meticulously crafted and immersive.

The only major drawback is the frequent cutscene hijacking. They've done this in all the FarCrys, but they really laid it on thick in this one. It's pretty common to be meandering along aimlessly and then suddenly get pulled into some boring cutscene where you're forced to listen to some lengthy monologue from one of the game's villains. These will often culminate in some sort of battle royale with real or imagined persons or apparitions, respectively. It's frustrating and grating.

Also, I originally rated this game as an 8/10, but had to knock it down to a 7/10 after playing it for several more hours and experiencing the unusually and unnecessarily short campaign. The game really tries to rush you through the main story. In fact, it's the only game I've ever played where I found that I was progressing way faster than I actually thought I was (if that makes any sense at all). For example, missions don't necessarily advance the story and push you forward to "boss battles." By this I mean, merely killing NPCs advances your progress meter in a given area of the game, and once it hits a certain number, then you're cutscene hijacked to a boss battle. It doesn't take a particularly long time to fill up those progress meters, either. You could conceivably finish this game in twelve hours. The reason why this is odd is because the world is pretty big (not Witcher 3 big, but big nonetheless), so it's not clear to me why the developers wanted to "Call of Duty" the campaign length. They had plenty of digital real estate to work with, and there's a lot of side missions, so it's not like they didn't have voice actors on hand. It's like the writers and the map developers worked in completely separate installations and never communicated about their respective visions. Also, the villains and characters are basically never developed at all, and this is entirely because of the remarkably short campaign length. It's by far the shortest campaign from any of the Far Crys.

Also, I agree with others that have noted that you'll encounter enemies every 100 yards, roughly. Not so much whilst ambling about the woods, but definitely on the road way. I think if you pay an extra ten bucks for the "deluxe edition," you get a helicopter with machine guns and rockets equipped from the moment you're able to access a helicopter (which is very early on). That's not a small advantage, either. The helicopter essentially allows you to rain death down on your enemies from on high with infinite ammo. With no helicopter, you're essentially fighting them off with a musket or bow and arrow (see first paragraph). You're AI partners will come in handy - so far, I've unlocked the archer (female, can't remember name), and a grenadier named "Herk." They're both equally useful in their own right.

Anyway, I recommend the game, particularly if you've enjoyed past Far Crys.

Far Cry comes to the United States where guns are plenty but ammo is premium. Where you get harassed by wild and household animals every 5 meters except when you take a hunting mission and they practically disappear from the landscape. The landscape is fabulous and helicopter sightseeing is fantastic, especially because plane controls are terrible with mouse and keyboard. There is no rain so you can wash your cars with sponges, bare chested bald bullet sponges easily eating multiple high caliber bullets to the head. You'll be tasked to take down a family, but they will take you down first, 9 times, while you fly through the sky or hide in a bunker nobody ever heard of. At the end you'll face a choice, an important choice, whether or not start the final main mission to witness a pointless and unsatisfactory ending.

    Pros:
    - U.S.A. setting
    - Visuals are stunning
    - Well optimized
    - Side missions are varying and interesting
    - Characters are funny
    - Hunting, fishing (after you get high power gear)
    - Cars, helicopters
    - Chaotic firefights while chased by an airplane and wildlife at the same time
    - Free roaming
    - Mars setting in later DLC!

    Cons:
    - Constant harassment by enemies and wildlife
    - Terrible scripted main missions
    - Repeatedly getting abducted from anywhere (seriously, when you see the prompts, just stand next to a road and wait)
    - Not enough and underpowered weapons (i.e., no Vector SMG?)
    - Unable to carry more of .50 cal ammo and bait (due to balance?)
    - Story is basic and weightless
    - Ending(s)

Verdict: 7/10 - buy if you never played Far Cry before, wait otherwise (for patches and all-in-one release).

Looks beautiful, fun gameplay but perhaps too easy, physics can get crazy but hilarious, main storyline is quickly finished & then you're just left with busy work (collecting baseballs & lighters), Arcade mode is disappointing at the moment; hopefully they work on it. DLC SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED AS STANDARD, probably not going to be worth the extra money.

Too much damn action. Does everything that was done right in far cry 3 and 4 and more. Only this time you can't drive for 1 minute without getting assaulted by two trucks full of cultists doing drive-by's on you.

No character customization made it a rather unpleasent game to play in terms of wanting to actually be that character.

Then there were the absolutely terrible boss battles .. serious let downs with repetitive QTE events and dull endurance sequences.

Now .. this is Far Cry 5 .. aaaand .. it feels pretty much uh .. the same.

As a matter of fact, i can hardly separate it from Ghost Recon Wildlands in terms of structure. A large worldmap (not near as large as Wildlands though) that is fairly pretty to look at. (again Wildlands looks better for the scenery, but in terms of detail Far Cry 5 appears to be nicer) .. both games have rather terrible AI with enemies that can easily be "trapped" at doorways . and throw themselves into a bottleneck situation in what can only be described as pure suicide.

The vehicles feel good so far, the mini-missions are standard.

Now is there anything outstanding? ... Not really. The story is OK-ish .. about on a level of a heap 80s action movie. You are good, they are bad .. go kill thousands of them, cause you are GOOD! (and not a psychopatic mass murderer at all) .. no chance to seek a diplomatic or peaceful solution (but its not that kind of game .. )

Well, at least there is a limited character customization and the player character is bland enough (in a positive way) that he/she is not a total jerk like Far Cry 3.

However .. the game lives and falls with its bad guy. And i just dont feel it. It might be kind of a ballsy move to make the bad guys white, religious right wing fundamentalists ... but they are not near as exciting as this one pirate guy from Far Cry 3 .. its actually about as bland as the bad guy(s) from Wildlands.

But the game runs well, looks pretty and offers good action game mechanics for a semi open world game on what feels like a fairly small area. Well above average, but not outstanding.

    * Less focus on resorce gathering and animal hunting. You can still do it but you don't need it for upgrades anymore but instead use perks from challenges, Prepper Stashes etc.

    Cons:

    * The way the story is built up with having to kill 3 lieutenants by building up the resistance through quests etc. in order to get to the final guy is too similar too how Ghost Recon Wildlands is built up

    * There are way too many enemies. You cant drive for 10 seconds without running into som car, truck, plane or chopper that want to end you.

    * The AI isn't very good and when you learn how it works it just isn't very challenging anymore.

    * A bit too much freedom and sometimes it doesn't really feel like you have a clear direction of what to do next. You simply have to explore, liberate bases etc. to unlock new quests.

    Verdict:

So I didn't have any expectations for this game. I've been dissapointed by Ubisofts games more times than I can coun't. Sure, it's easy to see that this is a Ubisoft game and it shares many mechanics with other Ubisoft games like Assassins Creed and Ghost Recon Wildlands. I personally hated Wildlands as it was nothing but a huge grind and all quests, even main ones, felt like one and the same. Far Cry 5 on the other hand has much better quest design this far. I've only completed 1 of the 3 areas and hopefully the other 2 will feeel unique in terms of quests. It's far from a game of the year but I still find it enjoyable.

But then you're kidnapped at several points in the story and railroaded into these serious doom and gloom religious monologues. It's just jarring, tedious, unbelievable and takes control away from the player. And the ending sucks, it completely disregards any choice you've made before the ending and makes the rest of the game more or less irrelevant. And it's not exactly a good ending either. In fact, I disliked the ending so much I didn't even want to continue playing the game afterwards. Out of the 4 main antagonists the one I liked the most was faith, and her corner of the world was also the one I enjoyed the most. The dreams sequences with her, and also how the world became a hallucination, was quite fun so there was some potential here. But overall the story is a big, big let down, Far Cry 3 and Vaas is still the best Far Cry villain and story arc. Expand

I like the open world and it's fun trying to destroy the cult. However I dislike how the story is implemented and how it has forced kidnappings you can't avoid and the game does feel too repetitive. I didn't mind the ending.

AI companions are stupid of course, often get in your way or step in front of your line of sight. I had a companion step in front of me just as I was firing a rocket which you can guess the outcome of that.

I hate being forced to use the Ubisoft launcher. The launcher sometimes has problems of often not being able to sync cloud save data or their servers not working. I lost several hours of progress as the cloud save did not sync properly.
The game does have bugs, I liberated a outpost and a helicopter was spawned inside a building and was levitating and wobbling around clattering against the ceiling which eventually caused it to explode.
Overall I found the game fun enjoyed it and didn't feel bored playing.

Far Cry 5 is the first numbered game I’ve played in the series since far cry 2…
After hearing such great things about this game I thought my experience would be even better since Far Cry 5 would feel so fresh and new to me because I haven’t played 3 or 4..
I wouldn’t have that this is just more of the same kind feeling..
And despite this.. that feeling is exactly what I got here..
Far Cry 5 feels like just another bland and boring shooter…
The game takes play in a fictional hope county Montana USA
you play as your own created character out to take down Joseph Seed… A cult leader..
But to get to him in car cry fashion you have to regain control and liberate 3 different territories and take down his 3 siblings….
You can take them down in and order you’d like.. though the game suggests you start in the south and make your way up, so this is exactly what I did starting with John Seed…
And by this games roughly 28 hour long campaign you’ll understand exactly why the game suggests you start at the bottom and work your way up..
John seeds section is easily the strongest part of the game in terms of world building and level design… every area of this section of the map is memorable, it feels worth exploring for its treasures, the side quests feel worth doing…
And this is the majority of the campaign as well, taking me about 13 hours to clear, and then it’s on top faith seed which took about 10 hours to clear… the world building is miles weaker, but these 10 hours are saved by one of my favorite villains in video game history..
This was hands down my favorite chunk of the game thanks to how unique her individual missions are as you’re dealing with something called the bliss.. this causes hallucinations, and a creepily charming, seductive and hypnotic crazy girl that we’ve all dated before, and then the final 5 hours of the game is dealing with the mediocre Jacob seed section…
the world building in the north of this map is mind numbing garbage.. no heart here whatsoever…
so I’m happy it takes up so little of the campaign time…
But to get to these story missions you have to bring these characters out.. you have to cause mayhem around the world..
and this is what far cry fans love about the game…
liberating posts, destroying property, rescuing characters and animals like cheese burger the bear to call them in to help you during missions, you Can even play through the world co op with friends
and after you’ve done enough damage you’ll be marked and they will hunt you down and you then have to escape whatever scenario you find yourself in.. sadly, though there are only 3 missions for each character aside from their introduction…
    such a massive disappointment..
especially with a character such as faith seed..
it’s a shame how underused she is
I honestly would’ve preferred if she was the only character in the game, and we were constantly dealing with her tricks and seduction..
    shes so well written,
sadly this isn’t what we get… I feel that the first chunk if this game is the only section where any of this chaos causing gar cry fans enjoy is any fun
the faith seed section is saved by the character, but that’s the only redeeming quality.. the world gets more bland as the game goes on
After I cleared the first part of the map I resorted to just clearing missions with a helicopter.. that’s how little I cared to explore..
outside of the campaign there is a decently fun arcade mode where you can build your own singpleypalyer, co op, or death match maps using assets from the past far cry games and even games like assassins creed..
    plenty to get creative with..
but if you’re like me and creating the levels isn’t your thing you can just hop in to play other peoples maps or even have some decently fun competitive play with some alright maps thrown in there…
there isn’t the call of duty polish here, but I had a decent amount of fun.
Far Cry 5 has its moments of greatness despite feeling a bit lazy as it goes on.
this would’ve been a better game had it been smaller and more polished with much more narrative focus
I know Ubisoft would disagree with such a statement but at the end of the game I think we can all agree
We need a faith seed game
    I give Far Cry 5
    a 7.5/10

The narrative was as linear as it gets and the choices that the player made didn't seem to hold any value whatsover. Far Cry 3 and 4 both had amazing villains that kept sending chills down the player's spine everytime they had a convresation with the protagonist but now we got a pseudohipster with a man bun that was rather laughable than imposing or menacing. Only the ending came out to be a little unexpected but nothing shocking enough to alter my opinion on the whole of the story. Also, I really enjoyed Far Cry's classic system of activating radio towers and liberating outposts to unlock new areas. I see why the devs decided to try a more open and free approach but it made the story look incoherent. Overall, I had a time fooling aroudn and blowing up stuff and liberating outposts, but I kept rolling my eyes to the very back of my head everytime I listened to a dialogue concerning the main story. The gun play is solid, so many will still garner enjoyment from slaying baddies, even if they are legally retarded. The stealth is super forgiving, which kind of sucks as far as having a challenge goes, but also enables even the most clumsy of pulling off potentially gratifying stealth takeovers.

The graphics are good, but appear to have little to no improvement over Far cry 4, which I found disappointing. However, for me on a 1070 the game ran flawlessly on 1080p max settings with zero stutters or frame drop outs. The world is incredibly well done, having a very organic, life like feel that's fun to explore. Most side quests actually have engaging characters with unique story lines. Loot locations, which are essentially survivalist bunkers filled with goodies, aren't your typical go fetch this objective. They each have their own little puzzle in order to get inside which often comes with an entertaining mini-plot, which makes completing them a helluva lot more gratifying then what's oft seen in other Ubisoft titles.

The characters are - well, nuts. Their back stories are horrific and this seems to be both the explanation and justification for their heinous behavior. If you're not a fan of really dark dialogue, you're going to find it way too over the top and unpleasantly disturbing. I personally found it captivating, even if the overall plot didn't really make a whole lot of sense. Since the antagonists are bat sh1t crazy, it's understandable that their motivations don't align well with a rational reality.

What I didn't care for was the manner in which your main character interacts with the villains. Once you reach a certain point in progression, you just repeatedly get knocked out only to then awaken in the captivity of the cult king pins. This literally happens a dozen times throughout the game and gets repetitive real fast. It seems like a lazy way of progressing the story and gives the main cult leaders an unexplained air of supernatural divinity. In other words, they can do with you whatever they want, whenever they want, but this runs extremely counter to your sense of agency and objective. It's like the entire game wants to keep reminding you that there's really no good reason for you to bother trying since you're just a mere mortal playing hero at the mercy of the gods. I didn't find that narrative to be particularly satisfying, so I mainly tried to ignore it.

The endings basically reinforce this message of futility. Whereas some will find them commendable, others will find them disappointing. I was personally left with a profound sense of dissatisfaction that really took away from my overall experience of the game, but this appears to be the sentiment Ubisoft was gunning for all along anyways.

As a final note, your character doesn't talk at all. This is a trope I've disliked in games from the beginning. The Master Chief doesn't talk a whole lot, but you do have a sense of what kind of person he is. Your character in FC5 is just an empty shell, being lead along from one checkpoint to the next, doing little more than observing the show. It makes the character you're playing seem really dense to the point of mindlessness. You're just a powerless pawn doing what the game wants you to do, whether that be good for your character or not. And in the end, whatever choices you appear to have really aren't choices at all. Anarchic nihilism is at the heart of this game's soul. Which is unfortunate considering the vibrancy with which the main characters and open world have.

It is there case, where you play in a game, which you like just walking around of land, driving a car on long distance, and going in edge map, where don't step foot of human. You just relax, when playing this game. Particular when you clear map from religion zealots, map get clear and world become calm, making beautiful yet.

Game design as always amaze me. Guys working in Ubisoft - you my precious. Make such a land's need try did. Okey, I do stop my compliments and release review. By the way, I take this game on 100%.

Let's analyze the plot and what is happening in the game. Event's game happen kinda in our time. In County Hope, a fictional region in Montana. In this County captured religion zealots at the head Father (Joseph Seed) and his two brothers and one sister - who calls heralds. Map is split on three part, on every part we have a boss (heralds). You playing for deputy of sheriff, you come in there that restore order. We need clear every land, helping people from resistance and defeat bosses.

As usually plot is not very good. He is primitive, even main quest. You are Rambo, kill everyone on your way. But i researcher and me just relax walking for world and do as i will. Yes, if you wanna play in game with difficult plot - fc5 isn't your choice.

Game have a three ends. And three addons. Talking about second, although what we have talking about? I don't play in it all, but I reading a lot of reviews and they all as one proclaim, that addons is **** Don't believe me? Take read yourself.

Yes, I almost forgot about soundtrack. It's so pretty, particular part with sister of Joseph - Siren.

'key, what in outcome. In outcome, we have lovely Far Cry, which become still more beautiful, but with not the most delicious filling. Although main antagonists have some charisma.

Going into Far Cry 5 my main concern was that it would be too similar to Far Cry 3 and 4. And, while it is definitely still a Far Cry game it is certainly different. I must admit, while I enjoyed FC4, it was basically Far Cry 3.5. This game feels like the true next installment in the franchise.

But HOW IS IT DIFFERENT THOUGH?
Well first off, no more towers, I mean, they're still in the game but you don't climb them to progress, the only time I found myself climbing towers was in certain missions when I had to disrupt a radio signal or something. Another key difference is the overall progression. Instead of progressing through story quests, in this one you can literally do whatever the hell you want and progress that way. There are three regions in this game that you have to dominate (which are significantly smaller than in the last two games), and you can progress through them by doing side quests and liberating outpost. Just as long as your doing something, your progressing through the story, which is awesome. So you just liberate outposts, do a few missions and help dudes, then once you get to a certain point fight the boss. I personally liked this approach a lot more. Another new thing is the companion system, (friends for hire or something like that), where you help somebody out, then they will stay and fight with you. Each buddy has different traits, like Nick Rye, who has a plane and can bomb dudes, or Cheeseburger, a literal grizzly bear who mauls dudes for you. The game feels like Far Cry, but at the same time, it's something new. You can also beat the game a lot faster than the previous two, taking around 25 hours compared to FC4's 50 or so hours. This may sound like a bad thing, but it keeps you from being burnt out, and after beating the game, you can go back and keep doing stuff in the world. So playing everything this game has to offer could easily get it up to 40 hours or so.
    But IS IT GOOD THOUGH?
Yes. I had a blast playing this game. The story is pretty decent, and while the villain isn't as compelling and Vaas or Pagan, Joseph Seed is still a worthy antagonist. One problem I had was that you have a silent protagonist, which isn't really bad, it just doesn't really make you feel like your character is interacting with the game world. Gameplay wise, it's also pretty good. There's tons of vehicles in this one, from trucks to planes to boats, and traversing around the world never really felt like a chore, as exploring and stumbling upon new locations was cool. The gunplay is also significantly better than previous entries, just feeling more meaty and satisfying, and requiring some amount of skill, and bullets are now projectile based. The missions in the game also have a ton of variety. While there are still plenty of outposts, the things your doing in the game world feel much more varied, like in one mission I had to kill bulls to retrieve their testicles for the "Testy Festy". Yes I am being serious. I found the little things like this to be pretty unique and an interesting change of pace. Far Cry 5 does so much better than the previous two games and I really think this was a step in the right direction for Ubisoft. Oh and I forgot to mention, it is EXTREMELY well optimized. This game runs better than Far Cry 4, and I was getting over 90 fps constantly on high settings. That doesn't mean it looks bad though, the game is beautiful, with one of the better looking environments in Ubisoft's games. Its not all sunshine and rainbows though.
    But WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT?
Well first off, while it is optimized well, the game crashed 4 times during my playthrough. Granted, 4 crashes in 30 hours isn't bad, but they all happened in actual story related moments, causing me to have to play 10 minute sections over again. This wasn't a huge deal though.
The main problem here is the terrible/unpredictable AI. The AI is absolutely retarded. The AI runs over civilians, civilians run into cars, and the enemies kept on doing weird things that threw off the gameplay. Sometimes when sneaking into outposts, the AI would randomly get spooked when I had not yet been spotted. Other times, the AI would start shooting at an oncoming car and running around, which can completely throw off your stealth run. These little things were genuinely annoying and made when they happened it was a pain in the ass. The crappy AI also made the hired guns practically useless, as they can't be stealthy and just end up running out into the open and dying. The most useful one is probably Nick, because he literally just drops a bomb on one spot, no stealth or real coordination required.
    And finally THE MULTIPLAYER
It kinda sucks, which is sad seeing how much effort Ubi put into the map creator. There is potential, it just doesn't work.
Overall, I enjoyed FC5 and would recommend it if your a fan of the series, or if your not I'd say it's worth giving a try, just beware of the AI.

The gameplay can become repetitive. What is especially annoying is when you are taken several times no matter what you are doing in the game. You will be marked and randomly taken. To say something good about the gameplay is that we have great main missions with good ideas.
The characters can be great, you have a nearly clear line of good and bad. In a way the bad characters can be observed as also good, depends on how you look at it. There is always an explanation of why the characters are acting in the way they do. We have funny, serious, lovable and broken characters, a good mix.
Graphics are good and the music is just astounding, even if there are not a lot of songs.

All in all, I enjoyed the game up until the ending when I felt I did everything for nothing. That's why in my opinion it isn't serious enough. I still give 7 out of 10 because it is overall enjoyable.

    6. No mini-map also plus in my book (it kinda makes you to be more aware of your surroundings)
    7. Optimization is not bad (totally better than AC: Origins was on a release)

    CONS:
    1. Sometime AI is just terrible and super dumb
    2. Story is "meh" and the characters of the game are not so memorable (comparing with FC3 or even FC4 - pagan min was awsome)
    3. There are some few annoying bugs
    4. Game's world sometimes is way too chaotic - you can't drive in a new area calmly for even 2 minutes without encountering lots of random enemies, then bear attacks you out of nowhere, then helicopters starts shooting rockets at you, then reinforcements come etc. So If you want to travel calmly, you need to do it in the woods by foot.
    5. This game lacks of guns. There's only about two proper assault rifles - AR-C and AK-M and those too also aren't so good too.
    6. Those f*****g microtransactions. Although you simply can buy everything with in-game currency, the prices for weapons and cars (boats, planes) skins are insanely high.
    7. No more crafting. Instead of that you have to make lots of stupid challenges to get perk points and with those you can unlock new abilities like extra gun slot, carry more ammo, swim faster, walk silently etc. (sp for example: you wanna get 3 perk points? kill 15 enemies with flamethrower, wanna get another 2 or 3 points? hunt down 3 grizzlies etc...).

I haven't tried co-op, although I've read lots of forum about how stupid it is, when someone joins friend's game there's no story progression, no guns progression etc... For me Far Cry always been about singleplayer and I still think it's worth buying it. You'll get lots of different quests, great gameplay there's really a lot of doing in this game.

EDIT: Those gamers who says it's too easy, put difficulty on hard, turn off x-ray vision and indicators as well. Then the gameplay, for example liberating outposts will be pain in the ass, no joke.

Expand

Far Cry 5 is a nice and funny FPS that you’ll enjoy most in co-op. The well-proven concept would deserve a rejuvenation and adding a story that is adequate to the rest of the game. [Issue#285]

This fresh take on the Far Cry franchise is clearly visible content-wise, but a tad more discrete on the style. If you're not bothered by the slightly repetitive formula, you'll enjoy the many strengths of this episode.

Far Cry 5 doesn’t propel the series forward — it just refines all of its elements and relegates the infamous towers to the dustbin of history. So if you‘re allergic to open worlds from Ubisoft, don’t say I didn’t warn you. But if you’re eager to meet new wacky characters, complete dozens of missions and enjoy the sights, welcome to Hope County, sinners!
