A huge plus was the posibility to play the campaingstory with a friend, without that I probably wouldn't finished the game.

In short: Fun to play with a friend but solo it is boring.

This is your basic Far Cry game - nothing more, nothing less. The assault rifle's accuracy is terrible, and it's not just because of bullet drop. You're basically not able to hit the broad side of a barn from 100 meters away. The rounds aren't just affected by the force of gravity, but apparently also by the rotation of the earth and extreme crosswinds/mini-cyclones. The bow and arrow, on the other hand, is extremely accurate in that the arrows are only affected by gravity, which is basically linear across distance. The graphics are great on PC, and the game runs flawlessly on an i7-8700K. The world is also meticulously crafted and immersive.

The only major drawback is the frequent cutscene hijacking. They've done this in all the FarCrys, but they really laid it on thick in this one. It's pretty common to be meandering along aimlessly and then suddenly get pulled into some boring cutscene where you're forced to listen to some lengthy monologue from one of the game's villains. These will often culminate in some sort of battle royale with real or imagined persons or apparitions, respectively. It's frustrating and grating.

Also, I originally rated this game as an 8/10, but had to knock it down to a 7/10 after playing it for several more hours and experiencing the unusually and unnecessarily short campaign. The game really tries to rush you through the main story. In fact, it's the only game I've ever played where I found that I was progressing way faster than I actually thought I was (if that makes any sense at all). For example, missions don't necessarily advance the story and push you forward to "boss battles." By this I mean, merely killing NPCs advances your progress meter in a given area of the game, and once it hits a certain number, then you're cutscene hijacked to a boss battle. It doesn't take a particularly long time to fill up those progress meters, either. You could conceivably finish this game in twelve hours. The reason why this is odd is because the world is pretty big (not Witcher 3 big, but big nonetheless), so it's not clear to me why the developers wanted to "Call of Duty" the campaign length. They had plenty of digital real estate to work with, and there's a lot of side missions, so it's not like they didn't have voice actors on hand. It's like the writers and the map developers worked in completely separate installations and never communicated about their respective visions. Also, the villains and characters are basically never developed at all, and this is entirely because of the remarkably short campaign length. It's by far the shortest campaign from any of the Far Crys.

Also, I agree with others that have noted that you'll encounter enemies every 100 yards, roughly. Not so much whilst ambling about the woods, but definitely on the road way. I think if you pay an extra ten bucks for the "deluxe edition," you get a helicopter with machine guns and rockets equipped from the moment you're able to access a helicopter (which is very early on). That's not a small advantage, either. The helicopter essentially allows you to rain death down on your enemies from on high with infinite ammo. With no helicopter, you're essentially fighting them off with a musket or bow and arrow (see first paragraph). You're AI partners will come in handy - so far, I've unlocked the archer (female, can't remember name), and a grenadier named "Herk." They're both equally useful in their own right.

Anyway, I recommend the game, particularly if you've enjoyed past Far Crys.

Far Cry comes to the United States where guns are plenty but ammo is premium. Where you get harassed by wild and household animals every 5 meters except when you take a hunting mission and they practically disappear from the landscape. The landscape is fabulous and helicopter sightseeing is fantastic, especially because plane controls are terrible with mouse and keyboard. There is no rain so you can wash your cars with sponges, bare chested bald bullet sponges easily eating multiple high caliber bullets to the head. You'll be tasked to take down a family, but they will take you down first, 9 times, while you fly through the sky or hide in a bunker nobody ever heard of. At the end you'll face a choice, an important choice, whether or not start the final main mission to witness a pointless and unsatisfactory ending.

    Pros:
    - U.S.A. setting
    - Visuals are stunning
    - Well optimized
    - Side missions are varying and interesting
    - Characters are funny
    - Hunting, fishing (after you get high power gear)
    - Cars, helicopters
    - Chaotic firefights while chased by an airplane and wildlife at the same time
    - Free roaming
    - Mars setting in later DLC!

    Cons:
    - Constant harassment by enemies and wildlife
    - Terrible scripted main missions
    - Repeatedly getting abducted from anywhere (seriously, when you see the prompts, just stand next to a road and wait)
    - Not enough and underpowered weapons (i.e., no Vector SMG?)
    - Unable to carry more of .50 cal ammo and bait (due to balance?)
    - Story is basic and weightless
    - Ending(s)

Verdict: 7/10 - buy if you never played Far Cry before, wait otherwise (for patches and all-in-one release).

Looks beautiful, fun gameplay but perhaps too easy, physics can get crazy but hilarious, main storyline is quickly finished & then you're just left with busy work (collecting baseballs & lighters), Arcade mode is disappointing at the moment; hopefully they work on it. DLC SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED AS STANDARD, probably not going to be worth the extra money.

Too much damn action. Does everything that was done right in far cry 3 and 4 and more. Only this time you can't drive for 1 minute without getting assaulted by two trucks full of cultists doing drive-by's on you.

No character customization made it a rather unpleasent game to play in terms of wanting to actually be that character.

Then there were the absolutely terrible boss battles .. serious let downs with repetitive QTE events and dull endurance sequences.

Now .. this is Far Cry 5 .. aaaand .. it feels pretty much uh .. the same.

As a matter of fact, i can hardly separate it from Ghost Recon Wildlands in terms of structure. A large worldmap (not near as large as Wildlands though) that is fairly pretty to look at. (again Wildlands looks better for the scenery, but in terms of detail Far Cry 5 appears to be nicer) .. both games have rather terrible AI with enemies that can easily be "trapped" at doorways . and throw themselves into a bottleneck situation in what can only be described as pure suicide.

The vehicles feel good so far, the mini-missions are standard.

Now is there anything outstanding? ... Not really. The story is OK-ish .. about on a level of a heap 80s action movie. You are good, they are bad .. go kill thousands of them, cause you are GOOD! (and not a psychopatic mass murderer at all) .. no chance to seek a diplomatic or peaceful solution (but its not that kind of game .. )

Well, at least there is a limited character customization and the player character is bland enough (in a positive way) that he/she is not a total jerk like Far Cry 3.

However .. the game lives and falls with its bad guy. And i just dont feel it. It might be kind of a ballsy move to make the bad guys white, religious right wing fundamentalists ... but they are not near as exciting as this one pirate guy from Far Cry 3 .. its actually about as bland as the bad guy(s) from Wildlands.

But the game runs well, looks pretty and offers good action game mechanics for a semi open world game on what feels like a fairly small area. Well above average, but not outstanding.

    * Less focus on resorce gathering and animal hunting. You can still do it but you don't need it for upgrades anymore but instead use perks from challenges, Prepper Stashes etc.

    Cons:

    * The way the story is built up with having to kill 3 lieutenants by building up the resistance through quests etc. in order to get to the final guy is too similar too how Ghost Recon Wildlands is built up

    * There are way too many enemies. You cant drive for 10 seconds without running into som car, truck, plane or chopper that want to end you.

    * The AI isn't very good and when you learn how it works it just isn't very challenging anymore.

    * A bit too much freedom and sometimes it doesn't really feel like you have a clear direction of what to do next. You simply have to explore, liberate bases etc. to unlock new quests.

    Verdict:

So I didn't have any expectations for this game. I've been dissapointed by Ubisofts games more times than I can coun't. Sure, it's easy to see that this is a Ubisoft game and it shares many mechanics with other Ubisoft games like Assassins Creed and Ghost Recon Wildlands. I personally hated Wildlands as it was nothing but a huge grind and all quests, even main ones, felt like one and the same. Far Cry 5 on the other hand has much better quest design this far. I've only completed 1 of the 3 areas and hopefully the other 2 will feeel unique in terms of quests. It's far from a game of the year but I still find it enjoyable.

But then you're kidnapped at several points in the story and railroaded into these serious doom and gloom religious monologues. It's just jarring, tedious, unbelievable and takes control away from the player. And the ending sucks, it completely disregards any choice you've made before the ending and makes the rest of the game more or less irrelevant. And it's not exactly a good ending either. In fact, I disliked the ending so much I didn't even want to continue playing the game afterwards. Out of the 4 main antagonists the one I liked the most was faith, and her corner of the world was also the one I enjoyed the most. The dreams sequences with her, and also how the world became a hallucination, was quite fun so there was some potential here. But overall the story is a big, big let down, Far Cry 3 and Vaas is still the best Far Cry villain and story arc. Expand

I like the open world and it's fun trying to destroy the cult. However I dislike how the story is implemented and how it has forced kidnappings you can't avoid and the game does feel too repetitive. I didn't mind the ending.

AI companions are stupid of course, often get in your way or step in front of your line of sight. I had a companion step in front of me just as I was firing a rocket which you can guess the outcome of that.

I hate being forced to use the Ubisoft launcher. The launcher sometimes has problems of often not being able to sync cloud save data or their servers not working. I lost several hours of progress as the cloud save did not sync properly.
The game does have bugs, I liberated a outpost and a helicopter was spawned inside a building and was levitating and wobbling around clattering against the ceiling which eventually caused it to explode.
Overall I found the game fun enjoyed it and didn't feel bored playing.

Far Cry 5 is the first numbered game I’ve played in the series since far cry 2…
After hearing such great things about this game I thought my experience would be even better since Far Cry 5 would feel so fresh and new to me because I haven’t played 3 or 4..
I wouldn’t have that this is just more of the same kind feeling..
And despite this.. that feeling is exactly what I got here..
Far Cry 5 feels like just another bland and boring shooter…
The game takes play in a fictional hope county Montana USA
you play as your own created character out to take down Joseph Seed… A cult leader..
But to get to him in car cry fashion you have to regain control and liberate 3 different territories and take down his 3 siblings….
You can take them down in and order you’d like.. though the game suggests you start in the south and make your way up, so this is exactly what I did starting with John Seed…
And by this games roughly 28 hour long campaign you’ll understand exactly why the game suggests you start at the bottom and work your way up..
John seeds section is easily the strongest part of the game in terms of world building and level design… every area of this section of the map is memorable, it feels worth exploring for its treasures, the side quests feel worth doing…
And this is the majority of the campaign as well, taking me about 13 hours to clear, and then it’s on top faith seed which took about 10 hours to clear… the world building is miles weaker, but these 10 hours are saved by one of my favorite villains in video game history..
This was hands down my favorite chunk of the game thanks to how unique her individual missions are as you’re dealing with something called the bliss.. this causes hallucinations, and a creepily charming, seductive and hypnotic crazy girl that we’ve all dated before, and then the final 5 hours of the game is dealing with the mediocre Jacob seed section…
the world building in the north of this map is mind numbing garbage.. no heart here whatsoever…
so I’m happy it takes up so little of the campaign time…
But to get to these story missions you have to bring these characters out.. you have to cause mayhem around the world..
and this is what far cry fans love about the game…
liberating posts, destroying property, rescuing characters and animals like cheese burger the bear to call them in to help you during missions, you Can even play through the world co op with friends
and after you’ve done enough damage you’ll be marked and they will hunt you down and you then have to escape whatever scenario you find yourself in.. sadly, though there are only 3 missions for each character aside from their introduction…
    such a massive disappointment..
especially with a character such as faith seed..
it’s a shame how underused she is
I honestly would’ve preferred if she was the only character in the game, and we were constantly dealing with her tricks and seduction..
    shes so well written,
sadly this isn’t what we get… I feel that the first chunk if this game is the only section where any of this chaos causing gar cry fans enjoy is any fun
the faith seed section is saved by the character, but that’s the only redeeming quality.. the world gets more bland as the game goes on
After I cleared the first part of the map I resorted to just clearing missions with a helicopter.. that’s how little I cared to explore..
outside of the campaign there is a decently fun arcade mode where you can build your own singpleypalyer, co op, or death match maps using assets from the past far cry games and even games like assassins creed..
    plenty to get creative with..
but if you’re like me and creating the levels isn’t your thing you can just hop in to play other peoples maps or even have some decently fun competitive play with some alright maps thrown in there…
there isn’t the call of duty polish here, but I had a decent amount of fun.
Far Cry 5 has its moments of greatness despite feeling a bit lazy as it goes on.
this would’ve been a better game had it been smaller and more polished with much more narrative focus
I know Ubisoft would disagree with such a statement but at the end of the game I think we can all agree
We need a faith seed game
    I give Far Cry 5
    a 7.5/10

The narrative was as linear as it gets and the choices that the player made didn't seem to hold any value whatsover. Far Cry 3 and 4 both had amazing villains that kept sending chills down the player's spine everytime they had a convresation with the protagonist but now we got a pseudohipster with a man bun that was rather laughable than imposing or menacing. Only the ending came out to be a little unexpected but nothing shocking enough to alter my opinion on the whole of the story. Also, I really enjoyed Far Cry's classic system of activating radio towers and liberating outposts to unlock new areas. I see why the devs decided to try a more open and free approach but it made the story look incoherent. Overall, I had a time fooling aroudn and blowing up stuff and liberating outposts, but I kept rolling my eyes to the very back of my head everytime I listened to a dialogue concerning the main story. The gun play is solid, so many will still garner enjoyment from slaying baddies, even if they are legally retarded. The stealth is super forgiving, which kind of sucks as far as having a challenge goes, but also enables even the most clumsy of pulling off potentially gratifying stealth takeovers.

The graphics are good, but appear to have little to no improvement over Far cry 4, which I found disappointing. However, for me on a 1070 the game ran flawlessly on 1080p max settings with zero stutters or frame drop outs. The world is incredibly well done, having a very organic, life like feel that's fun to explore. Most side quests actually have engaging characters with unique story lines. Loot locations, which are essentially survivalist bunkers filled with goodies, aren't your typical go fetch this objective. They each have their own little puzzle in order to get inside which often comes with an entertaining mini-plot, which makes completing them a helluva lot more gratifying then what's oft seen in other Ubisoft titles.

The characters are - well, nuts. Their back stories are horrific and this seems to be both the explanation and justification for their heinous behavior. If you're not a fan of really dark dialogue, you're going to find it way too over the top and unpleasantly disturbing. I personally found it captivating, even if the overall plot didn't really make a whole lot of sense. Since the antagonists are bat sh1t crazy, it's understandable that their motivations don't align well with a rational reality.

What I didn't care for was the manner in which your main character interacts with the villains. Once you reach a certain point in progression, you just repeatedly get knocked out only to then awaken in the captivity of the cult king pins. This literally happens a dozen times throughout the game and gets repetitive real fast. It seems like a lazy way of progressing the story and gives the main cult leaders an unexplained air of supernatural divinity. In other words, they can do with you whatever they want, whenever they want, but this runs extremely counter to your sense of agency and objective. It's like the entire game wants to keep reminding you that there's really no good reason for you to bother trying since you're just a mere mortal playing hero at the mercy of the gods. I didn't find that narrative to be particularly satisfying, so I mainly tried to ignore it.

The endings basically reinforce this message of futility. Whereas some will find them commendable, others will find them disappointing. I was personally left with a profound sense of dissatisfaction that really took away from my overall experience of the game, but this appears to be the sentiment Ubisoft was gunning for all along anyways.

As a final note, your character doesn't talk at all. This is a trope I've disliked in games from the beginning. The Master Chief doesn't talk a whole lot, but you do have a sense of what kind of person he is. Your character in FC5 is just an empty shell, being lead along from one checkpoint to the next, doing little more than observing the show. It makes the character you're playing seem really dense to the point of mindlessness. You're just a powerless pawn doing what the game wants you to do, whether that be good for your character or not. And in the end, whatever choices you appear to have really aren't choices at all. Anarchic nihilism is at the heart of this game's soul. Which is unfortunate considering the vibrancy with which the main characters and open world have.

Ubisoft do your work as usual is good. Game release is extremely beautiful and have unbelievable atmosphere. It is there case, where you play in a game, which you like just walking around of land, driving a car on long distance, and going in edge map, where don't step foot of human. You just relax, when playing this game. Particular when you clear map from religion zealots, map get clear and world become calm, making beautiful yet.

Game design as always amaze me. Guys working in Ubisoft - you my precious. Make such a land's need try did. Okey, I do stop my compliments and release review. By the way, I take this game on 100%.

Let's analyze the plot and what is happening in the game. Event's game happen kinda in our time. In County Hope, a fictional region in Montana. In this County captured religion zealots at the head Father (Joseph Seed) and his two brothers and one sister - who calls heralds. Map is split on three part, on every part we have a boss (heralds). You playing for deputy of sheriff, you come in there that restore order. We need clear every land, helping people from resistance and defeat bosses.

As usually plot is not very good. He is primitive, even main quest. You are Rambo, kill everyone on your way. But i researcher and me just relax walking for world and do as i will. Yes, if you wanna play in game with difficult plot - fc5 isn't your choice.

Game have a three ends. And three addons. Talking about second, although what we have talking about? I don't play in it all, but I reading a lot of reviews and they all as one proclaim, that addons is **** Don't believe me? Take read yourself.

Yes, I almost forgot about soundtrack. It's so pretty, particular part with sister of Joseph - Siren.

'key, what in outcome. In outcome, we have lovely Far Cry, which become still more beautiful, but with not the most delicious filling. Although main antagonists have some charisma.

Going into Far Cry 5 my main concern was that it would be too similar to Far Cry 3 and 4. And, while it is definitely still a Far Cry game it is certainly different. I must admit, while I enjoyed FC4, it was basically Far Cry 3.5. This game feels like the true next installment in the franchise.

But HOW IS IT DIFFERENT THOUGH?
Well first off, no more towers, I mean, they're still in the game but you don't climb them to progress, the only time I found myself climbing towers was in certain missions when I had to disrupt a radio signal or something. Another key difference is the overall progression. Instead of progressing through story quests, in this one you can literally do whatever the hell you want and progress that way. There are three regions in this game that you have to dominate (which are significantly smaller than in the last two games), and you can progress through them by doing side quests and liberating outpost. Just as long as your doing something, your progressing through the story, which is awesome. So you just liberate outposts, do a few missions and help dudes, then once you get to a certain point fight the boss. I personally liked this approach a lot more. Another new thing is the companion system, (friends for hire or something like that), where you help somebody out, then they will stay and fight with you. Each buddy has different traits, like Nick Rye, who has a plane and can bomb dudes, or Cheeseburger, a literal grizzly bear who mauls dudes for you. The game feels like Far Cry, but at the same time, it's something new. You can also beat the game a lot faster than the previous two, taking around 25 hours compared to FC4's 50 or so hours. This may sound like a bad thing, but it keeps you from being burnt out, and after beating the game, you can go back and keep doing stuff in the world. So playing everything this game has to offer could easily get it up to 40 hours or so.
    But IS IT GOOD THOUGH?
Yes. I had a blast playing this game. The story is pretty decent, and while the villain isn't as compelling and Vaas or Pagan, Joseph Seed is still a worthy antagonist. One problem I had was that you have a silent protagonist, which isn't really bad, it just doesn't really make you feel like your character is interacting with the game world. Gameplay wise, it's also pretty good. There's tons of vehicles in this one, from trucks to planes to boats, and traversing around the world never really felt like a chore, as exploring and stumbling upon new locations was cool. The gunplay is also significantly better than previous entries, just feeling more meaty and satisfying, and requiring some amount of skill, and bullets are now projectile based. The missions in the game also have a ton of variety. While there are still plenty of outposts, the things your doing in the game world feel much more varied, like in one mission I had to kill bulls to retrieve their testicles for the "Testy Festy". Yes I am being serious. I found the little things like this to be pretty unique and an interesting change of pace. Far Cry 5 does so much better than the previous two games and I really think this was a step in the right direction for Ubisoft. Oh and I forgot to mention, it is EXTREMELY well optimized. This game runs better than Far Cry 4, and I was getting over 90 fps constantly on high settings. That doesn't mean it looks bad though, the game is beautiful, with one of the better looking environments in Ubisoft's games. Its not all sunshine and rainbows though.
    But WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT?
Well first off, while it is optimized well, the game crashed 4 times during my playthrough. Granted, 4 crashes in 30 hours isn't bad, but they all happened in actual story related moments, causing me to have to play 10 minute sections over again. This wasn't a huge deal though.
The main problem here is the terrible/unpredictable AI. The AI is absolutely retarded. The AI runs over civilians, civilians run into cars, and the enemies kept on doing weird things that threw off the gameplay. Sometimes when sneaking into outposts, the AI would randomly get spooked when I had not yet been spotted. Other times, the AI would start shooting at an oncoming car and running around, which can completely throw off your stealth run. These little things were genuinely annoying and made when they happened it was a pain in the ass. The crappy AI also made the hired guns practically useless, as they can't be stealthy and just end up running out into the open and dying. The most useful one is probably Nick, because he literally just drops a bomb on one spot, no stealth or real coordination required.
    And finally THE MULTIPLAYER
It kinda sucks, which is sad seeing how much effort Ubi put into the map creator. There is potential, it just doesn't work.
Overall, I enjoyed FC5 and would recommend it if your a fan of the series, or if your not I'd say it's worth giving a try, just beware of the AI.

The characters can be great, you have a nearly clear line of good and bad. In a way the bad characters can be observed as also good, depends on how you look at it. There is always an explanation of why the characters are acting in the way they do. We have funny, serious, lovable and broken characters, a good mix.
Graphics are good and the music is just astounding, even if there are not a lot of songs.

All in all, I enjoyed the game up until the ending when I felt I did everything for nothing. That's why in my opinion it isn't serious enough. I still give 7 out of 10 because it is overall enjoyable.

    6. No mini-map also plus in my book (it kinda makes you to be more aware of your surroundings)
    7. Optimization is not bad (totally better than AC: Origins was on a release)

    CONS:
    1. Sometime AI is just terrible and super dumb
    2. Story is "meh" and the characters of the game are not so memorable (comparing with FC3 or even FC4 - pagan min was awsome)
    3. There are some few annoying bugs
    4. Game's world sometimes is way too chaotic - you can't drive in a new area calmly for even 2 minutes without encountering lots of random enemies, then bear attacks you out of nowhere, then helicopters starts shooting rockets at you, then reinforcements come etc. So If you want to travel calmly, you need to do it in the woods by foot.
    5. This game lacks of guns. There's only about two proper assault rifles - AR-C and AK-M and those too also aren't so good too.
    6. Those f*****g microtransactions. Although you simply can buy everything with in-game currency, the prices for weapons and cars (boats, planes) skins are insanely high.
    7. No more crafting. Instead of that you have to make lots of stupid challenges to get perk points and with those you can unlock new abilities like extra gun slot, carry more ammo, swim faster, walk silently etc. (sp for example: you wanna get 3 perk points? kill 15 enemies with flamethrower, wanna get another 2 or 3 points? hunt down 3 grizzlies etc...).

I haven't tried co-op, although I've read lots of forum about how stupid it is, when someone joins friend's game there's no story progression, no guns progression etc... For me Far Cry always been about singleplayer and I still think it's worth buying it. You'll get lots of different quests, great gameplay there's really a lot of doing in this game.

EDIT: Those gamers who says it's too easy, put difficulty on hard, turn off x-ray vision and indicators as well. Then the gameplay, for example liberating outposts will be pain in the ass, no joke.

Expand

I am very disappointed, because almost everything else is great. I felt really relaxed when just liberating outposts, hunting and so on. I also didn't enjoy racing side missions, but there are just few of them, hopefully. It must be emphasised that graphics and audio are really awesome. Weapons customisations is also good. Another important and well done thing is environment. Yes, those forests and animals are superb. And these are the things why I don't regret time I spent with this game. It was so relaxing. Expand

Stealth is no longer a main part of the game. I fell this change is for the better.
The story is quite shallow, but appealing enough to not skip cut-scenes.

This is of course subjective, some people might like this kind of loop where there is always a lot of markers and huge area to cover just for the sake of completion, but others just want something enjoyable within proportion. But with the huge area of map, there could be several opportunities of variety when it comes to game play, for example, you could stealthily eliminating enemies one by one to take the base, or you could go all out and drive your truck to mow down the cultists, just to be interrupted by a helicopter that you could take down with your grenade launcher. This kind of freedom is mandatory for any open world game and far cry 5 nailed a great job at it. Expand

The magnificent atmosphere of the provincial remote American wilderness, which features farm fields, lake and river wilderness, and mountain ranges. You can rise to a maximum height by helicopter and see almost the entire map of the game. It’s a good idea to work with teammates who can drive as well while you shoot. But their AI doesn’t really "shine with miracles". By the way, the car's auto driving is a little bit crooked but sometimes it was useful. I liked the hunting and fishing, as the searching of different things like lighters and whiskey and the plot justification of that(extremely simple but no needed something more). For more, there were side full-fledged quests and the same caches, each of which had to be opened/found in a new way. Some side quests, by the way, were very interesting and funny. But some were dumb(flat toilet humor). That’s all what I liked in that game... And now the opposite:
The release of outposts resets the bodies(and it is impossible to collect trophies from them). You can not hide completed quests(It's not new but It would be extremely convenient and I surprised and disappoint that many games ignore this). An extremely poor and not convenient inventory and store(What a fool came up with idea to make mechanics that ammunition you need to buy exclusively all at once?! You need bullets to rifle? - NO! you will buy ammunition to everything).
Loot system: You pick up a half of it yourself, and a half are grabbed automatically(It’s extremely uncomfortable to think about where you need to press “F”, and where you just run past. Such situations make you "stumble" on looting). Plane flying is critically awful. AWFUL!.
-Dumb AI(the eagle flies away from its place, enemies freeze in a car or near a tree during an attack, etc.), small bugs like opening companion's window instead of map when you receive new quest.
Some other broken mechanics(in shallow water you can’t jump or climb the stairs, a scripted parachute - a low jump kills if the activation of the parachute started but did not have time to end).
A co-op only for the chaos and fun, the Campaign resets the progress of the second player from you when you enter the game next time. Half of the skills are useless(I throw away planning of skills after getting 40% of them).
And the most heavy sin: Story. An interesting idea is ruined by a tasteless, predictable and crooked script. Just a few things in each region were interesting, and all of them are a battle with the boss of the region. The drama of religion fanatical monologues are the opposite of the anarchy and "meat grinder" that they arrange in game, which kills any sympathy or attempt to understand their motives. It was understandable only for brother-hunter from mountains(Only strongest will survive). The ending of game was potentially interesting and unexpected, but extremely sharp and short. And not interesting from the side of the behavior and conversations of the main enemy at the end.
A separate dislike of how this plot is basically presented: Each boss catches you 4 times, pushes a fanatical speech and ... let you go. 4 goddamn times. So in general, instead of trying to kill the enemy, you are caught and released 16 times. Seriously?! ...But the most strong fire was when it happened during a new quest. The NPC began to give the quest and during that they turn me off and catch me. It is wretched, stupid and tasteless.
    I am done.

Lots of people here saying the game is repetitive. Yes, if you only play the main story and skip every thing else then yes it comes down to 3 underboses which capture you and you have to overcome their torture. But if you're like me and you like to be immersed into a story then you won't call these 3 events from the 3 villains repetitive, you welcome those events with open arms! The cruelty your character has to overcome in these events and cut-scenes are pure gold. And the side-quest are fun and never felt like a grind. Actually the side quest felt really rewarding. Another pro is the world design, the map is big but not too big, I never felt he need to fast travel, not once! It fun to travel on foot or by a vehicle.

    - Microtransaction in a singleplayer/co-op game...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A fun game with a truly awful script.

(Spoilers in the latter half of the review, but I give a warning before they appear)

    Pros:
    Realy enjoyable gameplay.
    Amazing graphics.
    Great companion characters.
The addition of helicopters adds so much to the game.
The new perk system is very well done and makes progression super fun.
The DLC is just different enough to be a fun experience.
    Fun hunting activities.

    Cons:
    Repetitive mission design.

    Mediocre AI

Unfair and poorly executed moments in the story that force the player to lose in-game fights, even if they take no damage.

The worst writing I have ever seen in any game ever. The stupidity in the script is downright inexcusable. The reality that earplugs exist is a devastating plothole. The script is that weak.

    The review.
Do you want to single-handedly dismantle a cult? Do you want a game that lets you hunt Bison with a semi-automatic 50 cal sniper rifle for profit? Do you want to be a one-person war machine causing unprecedented mayhem in rural America? Then look no further. This game is for you.
… Unless you’re really bothered by a bad story and STUPID game mechanics. My biggest gripe with the gameplay is that throughout the main story of Far Cry 5, you are kidnapped constantly. You are a one-man/ one-woman death machine who can swat down gunships like gnats and walk off bear attacks, yet you are constantly being overpowered and kidnapped. I think it happens 9 times. I don't know who designed this “open-world” “sandbox” game, but the point is to allow the player to control their own destiny. To do what they want when they want. Not to randomly be kidnapped in forced, unfair sequences that are literally unbeatable. Every once in a while a “ capture party” will come for you. I, having played this game quite a lot, absolutely decimated several capture parties only to have an arrow spawn out of thin air, knock me out, and initiate a cut scene and a mission sequence I had no interest in participating in. It doesn't matter if you're too good to be captured, the game will force it. It will break your immersion, and become unfair just so you can “experience” the story. Which brings me to my main gripe, the story. It's dumb. It's really dumb. I have never seen a game try to sabotage itself with such an awful story before. I am going to go into spoilers here. If you're not interested in spoilers please stop reading. The reason you're kidnapped constantly is so you can be brainwashed. You're brainwashed so that if you choose the ending where you save your friends and to go get the National Guard, the game can have a shocking ending where you kill all your cop buddies. Wow. Edgy. But this isn't even the worst part, the reason I hate this is that while you were in the process of being brainwashed, it is made very clear to the player that the bad guy who brainwashes you, Jacob, can gain control of your mind by playing a specific song over the loudspeakers/ radio. So, dear reader, I asked you, why doesn’t the main character just invest in a pair of earplugs? Or they could just do what I would do, get a pair of headphones, blare some death metal and wipe out everyone in Jacob's base including Jacob so you don’t have to engage in this nonsense. But no, this is the world of Far Cry 5, where logic can't happen because the ending needs to be shocking. Also after you wipe out the Lieutenant's of the cult, and several hundred of their members, as well as much of their supplies, they magically kidnap all your friends in the end. Why? How? Because reasons. Why put effort into your writing when nonsense endings pay the bills. Oh, by the way, the other ending is that you defeat the main bad guy, he nukes the area, killing all of your friends undoing all the work you’ve done, souring the entire experience of playing the game because it was all for nothing… And the main character becomes his personal slave. Excellent writing yall. There's nothing quite as fun as a dominating everything in sight throughout the entirety of a game just to lose in the final cutscene.

    My rating:
    7.5/10

(The way I recommend playing this game.)
Skip all the cutscenes, completely ignore the story, or write your own, and just flat-out refuse to engage in the endings.

My rating when I ignore the story:
    8.5/10

I have never been a fan of this series. But I played some parts. The fifth part, I think, is the most successful.
Although not without the old minuses: a dumb antagonist, a dumb plot, monotonous missions (cleaning up bunkers). But the open world has become much more interesting and pleased with the ending.

Even pokes fun at itself early on in this.

I would say the game is not perfect and the teammate AI is not great. Over the guns feel ok, but lack a lot of customization and micro-transactions, though not needed to get most unlocks, is ham-fisted into the single player aspect.

At full price I would not say this game is worth it, but at the discount I got it at I would say it is worth while to pick up just for the story play through.

I had a lot of fun with this game, until I suddenly just got bored around the third act.
The world is beautiful but the more time you spend in it the more silly the narrative built around it all becomes.
Regardless of this there is still plenty of fun to be had in this game.

The campaign could have been good but the endings are pretty bad personally. Next, with that being said I really liked playing the rest of the campaign. One final thing that I do not really enjoy about the game is there are a lot of bugs like people hanging out of airplanes when flying and some weird hitboxes on some objects. Finally, I would say that the graphics and sound were wonderful.

I take three and four for amazing games, but unfortunately it is no longer possible to say that with five. So sit down right at the beginning and I'll write you my personal opinion on the game here. Negative okay. The fact that Far Cry does not come up with anything new and has been throwing us the same recipe in the form of a negative for years, and I don't blame ourselves for the best time in the game several times. In my opinion, it belongs to the series and I personally think that it works. But what didn't work out quite well, at least on my part, is the mission system that the developers have switched to here. On the one hand, I commend the authors for the attempt at change, but unfortunately I think for the worse. In previous episodes (except perhaps only two), we had a pretty cinematic game with a strong story, and the game rewarded us with a cut-scene for completed missions. There are also films here, but simply not to the same extent as before. To explain, you come to a place in the game where you talk to a character, and if it was a three or four, the cut-scene would start immediately. But that doesn't happen here, and you can still walk, jump, and shoot while you're talking to a character who gives you the task of walking. Just like you didn't talk to her. In fact, you don't even talk because your character doesn't talk, which makes it almost completely impossible for you to form a relationship with her. I may be too critical here, but personally it bothered me quite a bit when the previous parts were able to draw us into the story so well, and it's just not here. So, from my point of view, this is the biggest minus of the game and now it's just the good thing. So I can reassure you that if you are a fan of the FPS genre as such (which I am) and you are not very interested in the story (which I am interested in at Far Cry), then I think you will be satisfied. There are a lot of weapons in the game and you can create your arsenal with which you will kill your enemies. In addition to sprinkling enemas, an animal partner can also help you. Ubisoft has already tried this technique in Primal and it worked well for me, so it is quite clear that we have the opportunity here as well. But if that's still not enough for you, you can even finish the whole campaign with a friend. This is probably the best thing about the game. You can enjoy the whole parade with a friend and I believe that it will be an oven in two, but I personally played the game myself. Having criticized the game for its lack of cinematicity, I have to praise the passages where you freak out and fall into bliss. The scenes here are often cinematic and it is a pity that this is not the case with the whole play. The whole thing is underlined by the beautiful song "Help Me Faith", which I rank among the best songs from the games ever. In conclusion, I would mention that this is a good game, I just think that if it weren't for the cut-scenes where someone is talking to you without changing the camera angle, or at least your character said something, the game could still be much better. I would recommend the game mainly to Far Cry fans, but also to FPS enthusiasts. Only if you expect a stronger story, you may be disappointed with the game in the final. But if you are not interested in the story and you just want to shoot yourself, then I think you will be satisfied. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. You as us marshall go to Montana to arrest some cult leader. But since you come with few people you quickly get captured like a fool. It is classic far cry scenario. Storytelling is great but I didn't really care about any of the characters. Endings are questionable.

You still can't skip the damn cutscenes.

Finally that "hold e to interact" is gone. You can do most of the actions by just pressing e! Looting animation is also removed, which is a nice change. I was tired of seeing the same animation for every body I loot.

    AI is terrible.

Not enough weapons and most are copy of each other.

It is just baseball bat and shovel now. Shovel is fun but still there should've been knives. Takedowns doesn't feel brutal enough.

Vehicle takedown, for some reason is removed.

Crafting is removed. You can only sell animal skin. Hunting and crafting is one of the classic far cry things. It is dumbed down here.

To earn xp you need to kill enemies with certain weapons. I didn't like switching to weapon I don't want to use just to earn xp.

There is always something happening on the map. You are just roaming and BOOM explosion. Can't relax for 2 minutes.

    Kidnapping gets tiring over time.

Side missions are empty and not fun to do.

    Stealth mechanics don't work properly.

Npc's that give you headache until you do their mission still exist.

    Not enough enemy variants.

These prepper stash missions are really interesting and enjoyable. Hope this carries to fc6.

Climb radio tower to unlock map is finally removed and I am happy for it. Now you unlock the map just by exploring.

    You can customize cars.

Actual helicopters and planes are finally here.

Some animations are faster and gameplay is refined.

    Gunplay is still great.

If you can ignore the chaos happening behind you it can be relaxing and immersive. Especially when you are fishing.

And have to mention any aircraft model controls and behavior, drives me insane, each time I have an aircraft mission :D Wanted to note down the things why I cant give a higher score, as the glitches are obvious. He is a mute, nameless, junior deputy that you waste your time customizing his looks at the beginning of the game but you never actually see him because it's an FPS game and the only time you see him is when he dies and the camera pans out. I don't get it when the studios create a mute character with no emotion and create such beautifully crafted NPCs and antagonists with their own amazing accent and drive in the campaign. Joseph Seed and his family are one hell of an antagonist. They are scary psychopaths with their own drive and motivation to get what they want. You are randomly kidnapped by the cult and taken to the Seed family even if you are in the middle of a side mission or near your allies. This gets very frustrating because it happens a lot of times. The world is a blast to run around in and the mission structure is so seamlessly good that you get caught up in just running around helping people, fishing and base jumping etc. But oh the ending(s) were SO spineless and predictable that it shaved at least 2-3 off of the score. I really hate games that let's you run free in an open world without letting you feel forced into doing stuff. I also detested the cutscenes. Nearly everything you did generated the points that drove the meter forward to the next "kidnapping". You weren't even halfway done with an area and, boom, you were fighting the boss. You had no control over when it would happen, you couldn't run away, and there was no solid reason for why you woke up in one spot 10 miles away, except some twinkling lights, or an arrow to the leg. Frustrating.

There were some great stories in each area, but the game moved so fast I didn't feel like I had a chance to enjoy them. You can still finish the quests after the finale, but trust me, you won't want to. I don't, the impetus isn't there without the threat of the boss and his minions hanging over me. Another testament to the "nothing matters" mantra of the game; you don't even want to play it again...

Oh, and props to Ubisoft for making a antagonist that I so thoroughly despised that every time I saw his face I wanted him dead.

The game doesnt have the mysterious location that other Far Cry games have. But I continued playing and eventually get over that. It is still an enjoyable shooter with a pretty nice open world. I prefer Far Cry in a far land full of mystery instead of a national park in one of the most developed countries in the world. But it is still a decent open world shooter.

    Large open world
    Beautiful vistas and scenery
    Multiplayer features

    Cons

Premium Currency for a single player game
    Buggy and Glitchy
Enemies spawning in front of you to ruin any immersion
    Poorly implemented co-op
    Predictable A.I

Far Cry 5 isn't a bad game, but it's not exactly groundbreaking or really offering anything new. Basically in a nutshell, if you like Far Cry 3, you'll most likely like this because there really isn't that much difference. The problems that FC5 has right now is exceptionally glitchy physics, the current player deaths I've all suffered so far have all been ragdoll physics bugging out, such as trucks bouncing around the road, or opening a truck to save some hostages and then being knocked high into the sky. The A.I is fairly bad too, almost all peggies will follow a set path or act dimwitted so the player can easily mow down a ton of them or sneak around easily for a takedown attack. The only real difficulty comes from taking down outposts silently and stealthfully for the bonuses, even that isn't so hard once you get a few powerful weapons with suppressors aka a sniper rifle.

The story, although controversial for some people is quite believable and I'm happy that a publisher finally decided to face religious extremism topics without backing down to SJWs or pressure.

The co-op feature is unfortunately quite useless unless you have *a lot* of friends who own the game, and are on at the same time. Please don't buy this game if you think you'll enjoy the co-op feature, because it is highly likely you'll never get to play Co-Op at all, this really needs a drop in/drop out system because as is right now, it's useless.

Another issue is the MicroTransactions system, it is pretty insidious - You can find Silver Bars in safes but they are quite rare, and almost everything in the shop can be purchased with premium currency, even ammo! Ammo is one of the points I want to make a strike against the game, you cannot carry much ammo at all, far far less than previous FC games even with perks you don't get that much ammo, and the real kicker here is that it is expensive to replenish so your forced to conserve ammo as much as possible, and hunt random peggies to steal ammo, or hunt down the prepper caches.

My biggest concern right now is that even after doing all the current content, all the missions and side content is that I doubt you will have enough money to unlock everything. Another major issue is the enemy spawn rate, I've seen countless times already peggies or animals literally pop up from thin air or from off the side just out of your characters vision arc, just enough to keep wasting your precious ammo.

Overall, FC5 is above average but it isn't groundbreaking, it isn't as good as previous games simply because of the bugs and the microtransactions. Publishers will need to understand a major fact, for any triple A release these days that has extra MTs for a primarily single player game needs to understand that the ratings will be lower because of that, especially when compared to previous games.

You have to skip main plot in order to do everything.

The Collectibles are stupid, side missions like ran deers over and bring the flesh is retarded.

But the main thing what ruined the fun is the ending, regardless of what you pick, you cannot get back into the game and complete leftover stuff.

Hard to pinpoint why but this game is a big step back from #3, #4 and Primal.

General lack of direction. You often are completely lost for what to do next. No hunting for upgrades. No towers to turn over. It has become too chaotic... and has a really really dissapointing ending.

This is probably the most annoying game I have attempted to play for years. Loved Far cry 1, 3 and enjoyed 4 but so many things about this game infuriate me.

I would wait for a sale and further patching, the only good thing I can say is that it is well optimised.
Avoid the Deluxe version, It's not worth the extra money for what amounts to a couple of skins.

This game has systematically destroyed my will to play it.

Bad story , downgraded gameplay from 4 and no weatherproof effect. The plot is just so unrealistic and the ending really shows that.

Mediocre is the best way to describe it. Solid mechanics, but a a god awful pretentious story. It was so bad after the first few monologues I had to skip the rest and you will get extremely irritated everytime you're "kidnapped". I would either get Far Cry 3 (because that's pretty cheap now) or better yet the Original Far Cry. I wished I had waited until it was on sale, instead ofMediocre is the best way to describe it. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Not the best. Ending was pretty disappointing, especially that nuclear ending, what?! They tried to do something creative and fun but they f#$ked up. Joseph doesn't die in any of these endings. Basically it's Far Cry 4 with different environment. At least they learned bad guys also can win. Expand

    This is an okay game.

Great audio, great visuals. Gameplay...if you've played Far Cry 3, then you've practically played FC 4 and FC 5 as well. The guns feel good, but the AI is dumb. It's just gratifying to headshot the enemies, as it always has been in the FC series. But yeah. Same old same old. Oh but they added planes. So...yay? Story...They just copy-pasted everything, even

Story...They just copy-pasted everything, even the stupid joker-like villains. Once was enough. Vaas was enough. The FC 4 and FC 5 heath-ledger-joker-wanna-be villains just make you roll your eyes, groan, and mash the Esc key to skip every cut-scene with them in it. Somehow the story is WORSE and MORE STUPID in FC 5 than it was in FC 3 and FC 4. It's just so, so...stupid. And god, that ending. One of the worst video game endings I've ever seen, no matter what "choice" you pick. Did...did Ubisoft go out of their way to hire a really really STUPID WRITER? I don't know what happened here but my score is so low in no small part due to the INSULTINGLY STUPID PLOT of FC 5. It's not difficult to write a simple backdrop for an FPS game, but somehow they managed to f*** it up, despite a multi-million dollar budget. Did they spend 20 bucks on the writer or something? The story literally almost sapped all the fun out of shooting the virtual bad guys.

    6/10. Okay game.

UBI needs to mix up the FC formula DRASTICALLY cause it's pretty stale now, and somehow the plots are getting more and more braindead, which is no good.

Far Cry 5 is a nice and funny FPS that you’ll enjoy most in co-op. The well-proven concept would deserve a rejuvenation and adding a story that is adequate to the rest of the game. [Issue#285]

This fresh take on the Far Cry franchise is clearly visible content-wise, but a tad more discrete on the style. If you're not bothered by the slightly repetitive formula, you'll enjoy the many strengths of this episode.

Far Cry 5 doesn’t propel the series forward — it just refines all of its elements and relegates the infamous towers to the dustbin of history. So if you‘re allergic to open worlds from Ubisoft, don’t say I didn’t warn you. But if you’re eager to meet new wacky characters, complete dozens of missions and enjoy the sights, welcome to Hope County, sinners!
