Most of the time the enemies just appear out of thin air (enemy spawning is crazy) they run to your face without cover they even just crash their cars all the time while following you they are hilariously stupid. Game has 3 endings and all of them are bad (not going to spoil them for you). Game also includes Denuvo DRM which i hate with passion also includes micro-transactions (another thing that i hate) and some annoying bugs. They ask 60 dollars/euros for this sorry but it feels like a scam. It's like playing a mod of Farcry 4 and not a new game. (Didn't bother with multiplayer) Expand

Incredibly MEDIOCRE game. Absolutely nothing this game does is exceptional or 'good.'

Numerous times you lose control of your character and forced into various scenarios and cut-scenes. The missions are boring, uninspired, and just not fun or satisfying or rewarding. Often forced into contrived rushing, due to some mission that you have to "hurry up!" and complete. Overall the game is incredibly repetitive and bland.

I'm less than 10hrs into this, I can barely grind on. This is a bad game, for people with bad taste.

You should only buy this game if it's under $30. It's just a reskin of FC4.

It really should have been DLC for FC4, as there are no major changes to the game itself except for the location. The theme - redneck craziness - is fun, but the "story" is just a mess. You constantly get kidnapped when you're in the middle of doing something else, but that's not the worst part...

The worst part is the same as every other Far Cry game so far: you get brutal villains who do terrible things to you, and who you desperately want to kill. You can explode, burn and mutilate anyone else in the game, but not the boss villains. No, you always get some B.S. quicktime event where you go through a long boss-battle, and once it's played out, you get a long speech from the villain who tells you endlessly how much they hate you and how wrong you were to kill them. Then, they cough a bit and simply lay back and die quietly. It's the most unsatisfying boss deaths in the history of gaming. You never get the satisfaction of really killing them - the game does it for you through unstoppable cut-scenes. No spoilers, but I guarantee YOU WILL HATE THE ENDING. Remember, I warned you! Boycott this trash, or buy only when it's heavily discounted, or best of all, just play FC4 again. It's a much better game than this is. This is just a straight-up cash-grab.

After finally fighting your way through the very skippable story and go to settle the score and redecorate a church with some cult leader brains - the game just flips the bird and makes fun of you for even wanting to massacre faceless bad guys with C4 in the first place. Because they couldn't finish off a boring story, without setting it into perspective how stupid you are for having purchased their microtransactions filled piece of garbage in the first place. It was reported last week (Edit: now last month) and the forum support staff claim it was passed on to the dev team. No response at all from the dev side, no fix incoming. I don't care how many people worked on this game and how much effort they expended--if you guys don't care about the players enough to fix this kind of thing ASAP, you get a 1 (Edit: now a 4, see notes below for adjustments).

Edit: I would have upgraded this to a 7 or 8 if it were fixed. But it's been weeks now and Ubi still hasn't even claimed to have a fix for it. A patch came out and very few of the big bugs people have reported were fixed. The game is broken and Ubi doesn't care. I'm leaving it as a 1.

Edit 2: Honestly, I'm not sure I'd even go as high as an 8, even without the bugs. It's just not that great a game. The story is tedious and obvious and very cowardly when it comes to dealing with the actual issues at hand in the subject matter. Horizon Zero Dawn was somewhat criticized for taking their format largely from Far Cry, but honestly, they did it far better, with a much more robust codebase, a far superior and much more detailed and moving story, and just a better experience overall. If you want content like this, but clean and good and produced by people and a company that desperately care about getting things right, play HZD instead.

Edit 3: I've finished the game. The ending is absolutely terrible. It makes you wish you hadn't bothered. And, in case you've been led to believe otherwise, there's really only one ending. There are three ways the game can end, but only one is really an ending. Don't think you might get a better one. Still, I kinda fell in love with some of the soundtrack, so I'm going to be undeservedly generous and bump this up to a 2, but only because they commissioned some really lovely music.

Edit 4: Well, it took them five weeks to do it, but they finally fixed the always-midnight bug. I'll up it to a 4. The game deserves about a 6 or 7 on its own merits, but I can't let Ubi get away with such callous disregard for the players who bought their game at launch. I suggest you do not purchase Ubisoft games at launch. You are bound to save money by waiting for a sale, and you'll skip the period in which they seemingly refuse to get off of their a**es to fix the host of bugs they thought were fine to launch with.

FC5 on the other hand simply removed many cool things from FC4, especially the healing animations that were cool as **** and many options of takedown. I've loved those things and I've got super disappointed, without those things, FC5 becomes just a generic third-person shooter game. The only special thing in FC5 is the possibility of bringing allies in your fights. I didn't like this mechanic because they are OP and they removed the challenge of the game. It was so fun and challenging in the previous FCs just trying to kill everyone at stealth with the many takedowns as possible. Now your "guns for hire" just do everything for you.

The story is also bad. The beginning is cool but after that is just a downfall since you don't care at all about the protagonist (he is literally a nobody without a story) and your allies are just comic relief so you can't take them seriously, you can't even take the story seriously.

Since 'People' liked Vaas so much from 3 (forgetting about all the other amazing actors as well), you get captured a ton of times with some magic bullet (I'm not kidding here) for each of 4 enemies to lord over you in their own unique and demented fashion. Somehow these "Magic Bullets" don't show up in the final battle when it would be so easy to just knock you out and slit your throat. So the story is both functionally and logically re******. There is not adequate em or mocap except with the demented bosses. If you are expecting a payoff for all your hard work, well? Would you like a kick to the balls or a kick to the teeth? The only good ending happens in the very beginning when you can choose to walk away. I would say take that a step further...don't even buy this game. That's really the very best ending. Save your money and avoid the disappointment. For people who just want to play with the toys, FC5 does not disappoint. There are way more toys in the sandbox than any other game I've ever known. The soundtrack is decent as well. Yet 'Story' and connection are my payoffs and this game is empty in that department. Expand

There are some missions, but there's a lot of blow-up-this-thing-on-the-map, and kill-all-the-enemies-at-this-place-on-the-map. These can get boring if you're not that into the shooting.

I couldn't find ways to do much stealth. I think more experienced players learn ways to do more stealth, since you are rewarded for killing all the enemies at an outpost without sounding an alarm.

Yea, it's easy to defeat them bla bla, but when it comes to fully take outpost stealthily it's nearly impossible in this game:
    - Enemy AI seems to be aware if someone was killed by a thowing knife
    - Enemy AI has one ridicilous Eyesight when it comes to detecting you sneaking around.
They spot you by looking half way to you, they seem to spot you from mere pixels. and some
suppressors are not good enough from the Enemies high advance hearing skills.
    - They'll know if their buddy's being killed by a suppressored shotgun.
    - One enemy type (VIP CULT GUY) , seems to have for some reason the armor of heavy type,
even thou he doesn't seem to wear anything remotaly to an ACTUAL ARMOR. he just takes a
bullet to the head like Nothing
    - I know that I playing on Hard , but sometimes you get spotted after being glared for half a
second. Why do Far Cry 4 and 3 have better AI than this ****
That's just the start but I'll stop by saying that your Buddy AI , ironically , seems to be more dump than anyone, it takes them a LOOOONNGGG time to kill a simple target that is standing right next to them

///////////////////////////////////// Multiplayer and Map Editor (and coop) //////////////////////////////////////////
Far Cry Arcade - ........ this is the worst FPS PvP online multiplayer ever created in gaming
Why ?! well lets state the obvious issues:

    - No default maps / only custom maps created by players.
This is a critical flaw. Your game has so many mechanics it can mixed and modded by your
amazing Devs , but you would rather be lazy and let the users do the work for you ?
Well sadly , if you're looking a BALANCED match in this game, then sadly you'll barely find any.
The hardest part for me is that I can see the potential from this mode, buts it's wasted and used by a mix of global creators that can create **** matches and decent ones.
COME ON UBISOFT !! You know you can create some good maps for any1 to have fun ! and by
that I mean fun in a balanced match.
    - TTK and headshots just don't mix well - You can fire around 20-30 bullets and kill , but luckily shoot once in the head and BANG DROP DEAD ! This is a bad mix of Halo with CS:GO.
I can't tell you the last time I wasn't killed by a headshot. add up the stupid Aim Down Sights
feature and you got yourself an abomination of Halo + CS:GO + Cod. don't forget you can
"stealth kill" if you 360 the enemy faster than he turning around.

The only good thing about this game is the Coop/Solo feature to play Custom Levels.
Play custom Outposts to take over , or anything else it's fun as hell.

    //////////////////////// OVERALL /////////////////////////////////////
    I give this game a 6/10
They're A-LOT of issues I didn't mention , but I believe I pointed out the most critical ones to why this games just falls hard in the ground

Shame that Far Cry 3 , is still the best.
    - Amazing Simple player and story mode
    - AI with Common sence !!!
    - A good multiplayer
    - A Fully established Coop mode with it's personal story. - Oh , I forgot about this, better weaponry !!!

I think the Far cry franchise have gone downhill. Every game is the same both with gameplay and story. The only noticeable changes are that you can now throw shovels, sticks and pipes. That you are playing in america and that the bugs are worse than ever before.

The only enjoyment i got from this game was by playing with some friends.

So don't play this alone if you can.

There is no selection animation, just press E and that's it. All enemies have the same faces. Useless team that only prevents you from completing tasks.
Bad story that does not reveal. How did these thugs hit the island? Why do they kill people? Why do people protect themselves from them? ...
Playing stealth is no longer interesting, as in 3 or 4 parts. Just put the muffler on the machine gun and that's it. Remove the silencers, add more variety of weapons, increase recoil, take the ammunition from the player and start playing more interesting.
At the very beginning of the game I had a lot of ammo, excellent weapons and all consumables.
Change the concept of the game, it is impossible to play the same game for more than 10 years. From the first part only the graphics have changed, the rest is still bad.

Tedious cut scenes (yes you can skip them but then you don't know what's happening) and enemies constantly, ludicrously, spawning practically right into my back pocket really steal all of the enjoyment I would otherwise get from the quests. Literally every quest, at some point, I find myself spinning around in a panic trying to figure out who is shooting me and invariably it's an NPC standing about 4 microns away right behind me. After the magic NPC has murdered me I get to start over, and likely have the same thing happen. Past FC games have made the challenges rewarding, and I've enjoyed that - but something about this experience just makes me rage quit after an hour long session, rather than buckle down and try harder. Both the exploratory play and the quests are made a lot less fun by the constant disappearing of ... everything. Want to go back to that vehicle you had to park in order to deal with half a dozen enemy trucks that magically appeared directly behind you? Too bad, it's probably gone. Want to loot all the enemy bodies after helping defend an outpost? Too bad, they're definitely all gone. Want to skin that animal you just shot? Good luck finding the carcass before it despawns. I'll probably finish playing all the way through, just because I'm a stubborn jerk and want to get my $15 worth. I can't see myself spending any extra time after the main story is done, in exploratory game play, like I have for countless hours with previous FC games. It's such a heart breaker because this game had so much potential. I really like the mechanics and the realtime visuals, and the environment is gorgeous - those are all areas where this game improves upon previous games, in my opinion. Unfortunately, at least for me, they amount to precious little saving grace (pun fully intended) in the face of the routine and fundamental frustrations. I know I know... "get gud". No thanks, I'd rather drag my sack across the pavement. I'd be real ticked off if I had paid full price for this game, but for $15 it's fine I guess. Expand

My previous experience with the Far Cry franchise is Far Cry and Far Cry 2.

Far Cry (the original game by Crytek) was a pretty original game, nice open world and interesting story, with some flaws. At the time, it was a fresh take on the shooter genre that was way more linear, giving it a touch of that Bethesda open-world RPG (minus the RPG part, naturally).

Far Cry 2 (by Ubisoft Montreal) had many cool features going for it, like spreading fire and an interesting location... but honestly, it felt like a far cry ( haha.. pun inteded) from what Crytek had came up with. It didn't take me long to realize Ubisoft had simply capitalized on the success of the first game by Crytek and launched its own cookie-cutter version. It seems to be around the time Ubisoft went down the drain with the copy/paste formula of generic games.

I had such a dislike for the formula Far Cry 2 offered; being rinse & repeat gameplay, that I haven't played ANY Far Cry game since that one. I FINALLY decided to give Far Cry 5 a try, eventhough I know how generic Ubisoft games are.

I want to give it to Ubisoft for creating a very good looking world, great shooting mechanics and what appears at first to be a very interesting story/setting.

Unfortunately, that's pretty much where the positives stop for me.

Ubisoft really are the masters of generic gameplay. While I don't like comapring different styles of games or different companies, I feel like pointing out some comparison with Bethesda. Bethesda also have found some sort of formula... but unlike Ubisoft, they seem to always work on the next game and bring some kind of fresh take, whether it's game mechanics, story or setting.

Far Cry 5 has some of the most annoying character dialogue I've ever heard, and cutscenes that I skip because nothing feels sincere.. everything feels out of place, fake and bloated clichés. The gameplay hasn't changed at all since Far Cry 2.. and from what I've seen on Youtube from previous entries, Far Cry 5 is simply another copy/paste job with boosted graphics.

this is where I feel like games like GTA, Elder Scrolls, Red Dead Redemption, Fallout, etc... really shine because they come up with a linear story that takes you for a ride, but they still offer you some open-ended features.

Unfortunately, for me Far Cry 5 feels like I'm playing any of the other Ubisoft games. I dislike generic games where you do the same thing over and over and over.. Capture this spot, defend this spot, attack this spot.. over and over and over. Even the Main Missions are just as cookie-cutter with very little intrigue or suspense.

I think I'll be taking another extended break from Ubisoft games for the next 10 years. Too generic for my taste.

It's not a bad game. But from a AAA, it's awful.

    Pros :
    - Visually neat. Except usual clipping and a couple of missing texture, game's beautiful
    - Soundtrack is good while not memorable.
    - Lot of things to do, as usual. You can switch off your brain and enjoy cause lot of them are useless.

    Cons :
    - Gunfeel is awful. Weapons with so much recoil you can forget auto mode.
    - Story is not a bad idea, but is baddly done. Could really done a change of style, and explore morality involved, but no. You'll be FORCED to witness cinematics of variable quality, with sometimes irritating antagonist, and be teleported somewhere else on the map. YOU CAN'T AVOID IT. It's so **** up, so FORCED on the player i can't believe it passed QA or even brainstorming. Needless to say, there is next to no choice involved.
    - The rest of the story is doing the same randomly things (outpost, kill random event, some secondary mission) to th next cinematics, until you fill the gauge.
    - Did only one boss before overloading during the 2nd area and uninstalling th game. Faith is a **** boss. Neither giving satisfaction or fun. NPC are infuriating of dumbness (as much as your character)

Like most AAA games, it play not baddly, but is SUBPAR in quality.

Far Cry 5 is the worst Far Cry to date. The formula is extremely stale at this point and there's very little that's going to surprise you in this game. You've seen it all before in Far Cry 3 and 4, and other Ubisoft games.

Far Cry 3 was a good game since what they brought out was fresh, and they had great villains (and some great other characters as well). Far Cry 4 was a copypaste job that didn't improve on Far Cry 3 except for graphics in some parts. In fact, I'd say Pagan Min was the only reason Far Cry 4 was even playable from start to finish. The gameplay was just as boring, but my desire to learn more about this dude kept me playing.

Far Cry 5 doesn't have a charming villain or anything fresh in it to redeem it as a gaming experience. It's the same goddamn McDouble you've have had the chance to eat for the past 10 years. It's not going to magically taste better all of a sudden.

Also, you can play the game stealthy, but for the major cutscenes and sequences, you will all the sudden be grabbed and shoved onto rails. Plus, the storyline is actually terrible, and the ending a huge disappointment. In summary, playing the game and doing missions and quests can be fun, but eventually you will have to complete parts of the story, and those parts of the game SUCK.

The story is interesting, however not the best, the gameplay is aimed to more casual players, and this is concerning because this is already a very casual franchise that has never been characterized for its difficulty, with this installment they went full retard in terms of how easy the game is, even in hard is super easy to beat because the AI is so dumb. Outposts are way less challenging than previous entries and the skill tree was merged and now your progression is based on achievements instead of gaining experience like any other RPG, the choices you have on your skill tree are simple and boring, they remove so many interesting options and merged certain skills into one, like chained take down, drop down take down and such. There is no reason to save money to buy vehicles, because the helicopters and cars are just skins of the ones you get for free. At one point the only reason you save money is to save for ammo and health packs. The fauna is boring, you have lots of different animals but there is no point to hunt them other than to sell their skins for more money, and like I said, money is only used for ammo or health later on. The game is so pathetic you can just save and buy the best sniper from the first area, and you are good to go, a silence sniper is super OP considering how stupid the enemies are. Everything you loved from Far Cry 3 and 4 is gone in here or has been dumb down. The graphics are beautiful and the place they picked is amazing however the gameplay killed this, they missed a big opportunity with this location, is amazing that a game set in United States has little to no weapon variety, absolutely ridiculous from Ubisoft, and the DLCs are just terrible, simply terrible. If you want this game, just wait for a sale because is not worth $60 dollars, it might be a mediocre FPS open world game, but a terrible Far Cry. Expand

Like so many big budget games and films these days its all top show with nothing of consequence under the hood. On the upside it has heaps of eye candy. Environments, people and weapons are beautifully rendered. It offers a big sandpit of the world to explore too with lots of weapons to use and vehicles to interact with.

You will probably find the first couple of hours of game play quite enjoyable but if you are anything like me deja vu will set in quite early on. This is a repetitive title where you do the same thing over and over again until you build up enough skills and weapons to take on the "boss" characters.

This game would have actually benefited from being shorter and having a more linear story. I know a lot of people **** about this but unlike a lot of sword and sandal titles this one simply does not have the variety to take this approach and make it work.

That said this could have been forgiven were it not for this games biggest shortcomings, it controls. Controls in Far Cry 5 once you stop beyond the basics of movement and weapons is truly truly awful. Some of the worst I have ever seen. It has a clumsy interface that attempts to remove the need for key binding but the interface you access in its place is so complex and hard to use it severely limits game play and is nothing short of an exercise in utter frustration. Its like they looked at Windows 8 and took its very worst interface elements and integrated them into this game.

In summary this is a repetitive, trudging bore fest, made worse by piss poor horribly counter intuitive interface design and extended controls that no amount of eye candy can fix.

    3/10 from me.

In a nutshell the game is basically like the most recent FC games - same engine and basic system as FC3 / 4 / Primal and runs smooth, but has terrible story progression (forced capture missions are terrible), and an awful ending to the game which makes your accomplishments feel pointless - skip this one. Final Rating: 3 / 10

Having played all 6 far cries (blood dragon, primal). I conclude that this is worst part by far, it has nothing new or good in it. Ghost recon Wildlands supersedes this pile in every aspect. It seems Far Cry finally followed in footsteps of Mass Effect and Assassins Creed... Shame really.

Ubisoft thinks that they've hit the secret formula with Far Cry 3 and now both Far Cry and AC series feel the same. Not only that they cling to medicore formula they've even downgraded stuff like sound of guns is worse than in FC3, very boring and souless game that is simple as if they're assuming that average gamer has 70IQ form Ubisoft, this is one is not exception.

If you want a good game these days, it will most likely come from PS4, that's where most good game developers are now. On the PC side, all we have is Ubisoft, EA and Bethesda churning out garbage year after year.

And I once again hate that you have to shoot hundreds of bullets to kill a bear or a cult leader. That's just stupid. (I played with hard settings)

Story-wise it gets into the weeds of good preppers vs bad preppers--which is a bit weird and possibly promising--but, honestly, who cares if the game isn't fun? On top of it, it's buggy as hell. Things and characters just kind of spawn. There is little continuity. I thought it would be better on a gaming rig (that's why I didn't pick it up the console editions) but it's the least satisfying shooter I've played in years.

tl;dr: this game has, I believe, 10 or so missions where you are captured by a script and brought to a "boss". This is the worst scripting I ever encountered in a video game.
Also you are f*ed in the end no matter what you do.

Far Cry 5 has new world, new main quest and side quests and the world feels quite lively at times now that things are happening around you all the time.

But if you are familiar with the francise you pretty much have understanding what you are gonna have to do in this game, same old same old. There still is tower climing involved, but this time they are not there for sakes of scanning the map, but for side quest persey.

Biggest complaint with Ubisoft this time around is that i've ordered mondo edition package for pc which comes with a vinyl which was pretty cool. But there was no option for a physical copy for the pc orders, so the mondo box for pc came with a vinybox (Vinyl inside) and a empty steelbox (no map, manual or cd inside). It seems though i didnt get my moneys worth from this order.

What kind of practice is this? If everything goes towards digital, do you just send empty collector boxes overseas!?

Aint gonna buy from Ubisoft after this, most games are average.

Enemies are pretty generic as-well, mostly copy pasted versions with different beards.

Crafting has been removed for upgrading stuff like your wallet etc which isn't a good thing imo, hunting is just another way to make money, that's it, of which money doesn't get you much, as there isn't much to actually buy other than the expensive things like vehicles which are just re-skinned versions of one another.

    - They removed too many features and didn't replace them with anything interesting to fill the void, hell even more weapons to buy would of been nice as it's lacking pretty bad.

You're simply running around the world mindlessly doing a quest here and there and it just feels bland as you're constantly running into enemies that chase you, like how Police in GTA act when you're at 5 stars.

The perk system is pretty generic, etc more health, more ammo.

The game has so much potential but unfortunately it falls really short, specially the story, it should of been expanded into a more interesting story, but even that feels generic.

Most of the quests are go here, kill these guys etc.

I am extremely disappointed, unfortunately DLC won't even expand upon the main games story-line which could of been so great.

    - Value for money is simply not here, I'd wait for a sale if I could go back knowing about the game.

The original formula of taking the fight to the antagonist has been changed into a three-way structure where the player must first work his/her way up the ladder and take down the lieutenants before confronting the main antagonist of the game, Joseph Seed. The player must now work his/her way thought numerous main and side quests, the majority of which boil down to either following an NPC and clearing some area occupied by the enemy, or going to find and retrieve something the individual which gave you the mission has lost or needs.

The story of this game could have been very, very intriguing if it had followed a more focused mission format where the player truly feels the mission which he/she is undertaking is worth their while, and not for the sole purpose of building up enough RP (Resistance Points) to progress in the main story. This interrupts the flow of the game, where when the player finally has progressed far enough to view one or two very thought-provoking cut scenes, ones that make the player truly question the morality of what it is they are doing, the game automatically cuts any chance to dwell on these questions raised by the antagonists and place them back into the open world where they must, once again, build up enough RP via fetch quests and etc to progress further in the story. By the end of the game, the player truly feels like he/she has had enough of the game and simply rushes to complete the story because of how similarly it plays out for each of the three regions.

The map of Hope County has been divided into three separate regions with two islands in the middle. Two or three hours into the game, the player can notice the lack of anything intuiting, where the majority of the land mass is composed of trees and hills, with buildings here and there. The map, because of this, feels very small, and the player cannot help but feel cramped in the roads where he/she will encounter the enemy what feels like every thirty seconds (This is not exaggerated, when the player travels by road, the game truly plays out this way).

The majority of what made the previous two main installments Far Cry games has also been removed for a more simplistic alternatives. Crafting, once a great way to improve ones' player and give them a real, solid reason for them to go out and hunt the diverse wildlife these games has been removed, save a few explosives and homeopathic medicine which can be crafted to aid in the players game play. The mini map has also been replaced with a bar at the top of the player's interface which does not really help with anything, and often fails to highlight key things like collectibles and even vehicles. It does, however, highlight enemies when few have been left in the area where the player is, so he/she may track them down without a problem, but even that comes of little use when the dog companion, Boomer, can simply dag them and make them glow red so they may be visible behind objects and buildings.

Although this game does offer micro-transactions, they never feel as if they come in the way of the player's experience as they are reserved for purely cosmetic purposes, cosmetics which can also be purchased with virtual, in game dollars the player has accumulated over the course of the game.

Overall, Far Cry 5, although it carried nuggets of what could have been a spectacular game, tries too hard to try new things which simply do not pay off. The villain, although an intriguing character which does have valid points of the many things he talks about, is wasted on a mute character which simply stares at him while he is talking and has nothing to say. It is in these times where the silence becomes especially evident the player realizes how great the game could have been if the player were able to communicate with some of the strongest characters in the entire franchise instead of wordlessly absorb everything they say. The reason player found the previous entries so intriguing was because of he odd relationships between the protagonists and the antagonists like the menacing and crazed Vass and Jason Brody, or even Ajay Ghale and the comedic and often times oddly protective Pagan Min. The relationship between the antagonist and the protagonist was what made players want to keep playing these games, listening to the conversations they had with each other and how it reflected their personalizes.

Far Cry 5's biggest problem is the developer's desire to give the player a different experience, one which the players are not willing to partake in because of the numerous flaws the game has as well as the tedium it brings with it which, after finishing the game, just makes them feel like something is missing.

However, if you changed the difficulty to hard in the first minutes, it will take one or two bullets to kill you after the game drains your health on purpose. You will be constantly using med packs as enemies kill you instantly. My FC5 experience started off with a brief mission that I needed to try at least 8 times. After that, expect to be killed almost instantly by flamethrowers. No matter how well you did in FC4, expect to play with medium or easy difficulty. You won't be able to complete the missions with a bow this time. As soon as you shoot someone, enemies magically know where you are and will rush at you.

There is no minimap, so you will most likely wander around with no real purpose, wondering what you're supposed to do. The enemy presence is absolutely insane. If you walk on the road, expect a truck full of enemies to drive by you every 10 seconds. I'm not having fun with FC5 at all. If you enjoyed FC4 like I did, keep playing FC4.

Now to start with the many negatives associated with this game...
    - The story is dry, you spend so little time with the characters associated with the region you are currently in that when something happens to them you don't find yourself caring too much.
    - The combat gets repetitive after the first 5 hours because the game tosses you into fights that are extremely similar to past engagements and the buggy AI doesn't make for a tough challenge (Most enemies will run into your bullets or will take cover with their head poking out for you to shoot).
    - The railroad interactions with the antagonists are aggravating since you can't fight back (Jacob's region kidnaps you by hitting you with a sleeping dart that you can't see coming).
    - There is no crafting (which some people may like, but it is a dislike for me because it added to the game), very few guns to buy (only 2 viable AR's, the other AR's are not extremely effective, they are mostly there for "fun").
    - There are so many side quests and side activities thrown at you at once that you are overwhelmed with the amount of fights in front of you that you may feel like you don't know which direction to go.
    - Finally the ending makes you feel like you wasted all your time saving the people of Hope County no matter which decision you make at the end.
Overall a pretty bad game considering what is on the market right now.

Terrible game. I couldn't play it more than 3 hours and uninstalled from my pc. First, few guns. In this time i used 2 assault rifles, 1 pistol, 1 rocket launcher and 1 arc. Second, everything is a copy from Far Cry 3, but in Montana. Third, extremely repetitive missions and side missions. Fourth, cars impossible to drive. I once attacked a truck in a road and had to stay 20 minutes killing enemies so i could move forward, and only 2 or 3 were because of the truck, the rest just kept randomly spawning where i was.

The only good point is the graphics, which are great.

I am sad, because i really enjoyed Far Cry 3 and i liked (not so much) Far Cry 4, but Far Cry 5 was disappointing, and i was really looking forward this game cause i like those "country states" like Montana, Idaho and Wyoming

The story is especially dumb. This game has a habit of taking controls away from you to do something completely stupid and then goes like "woah, what a twist!". And let me say, EVERY "twist" in this one is telegraphed a mile away and is so obvious it hurts.

Co-op mode is full of bugs and only saves progress for one of you.

This game is only good to just drive around and find some random adventures, but even at that it's too short and empty.

It's a goddamn mess. The tone is wildly inconsistent - one moment, it's a serious look into the 'christian' cults of North America and their methods of inducting members, chilling descriptions of the cult's brainwashing techniques repeated and professed by honest, earnest believers. The next moment, there's a drug called Bliss that lobotomises people, or sometimes it brainwashes people, and sometimes it's temporary but usually it's not, and it gives you telepathic powers? And the cult has been using it to indoctrinate people, and also fuel their explosives and... it's a contrived Deus Ex Machina, shoehorned into what could have been a sobering commentary on religious cult behaviours and abuses of power.

Not to mention the staple of Far Cry - the villains - fall kind of flat. Joseph Seed is played very well by Greg Bryk but he's not really in it all that much compared to his three lieutenants - Jacob is a zealot obsessed with natural selection (work that one out) John is a... lawyer? Torturer? TV Show host? He's really keen on the word 'Yes' and it gets so uncomfortable the game tries to have a cute joke about it by giving you a mission where you blow up a sign that says "Yes" in the mountains, and calling it "No Means No." Cute, Ubisoft. And then there's Faith, who is manipulative, but also a hippy, but also manipulated by Joseph, and she's a telepath and she loves the Bliss, and... I struggled enough to care about Joseph, and in the end i just disliked them and their stupid circular logic to the point i was grumbling at the characters themselves. Maybe that's the point, but that doesn't mean i have to like it.

Don't even get me STARTED on the ending. It's terrible no matter which way you slice it - contrived, unsatisfying, and makes everything feel like a waste of time.Again, maybe that's the point - but again, the point is dumb and terrible and i hate it.

The rest of the game? it's pretty good, i guess. The core gameplay loop is fun and satisfying, you get to customise your character, and with every outpost captured you get closer to being captured yourself! Yes, after having fun in the wide open world you get railroaded into a cutscene with one of the boring cult lieutenants, then a short, linear gameplay section where you escape, and this... this happens about nine times over the course of the game. It's cartoonish, and by the time you're taking on your third lieutenant you'll just be sick of it. The Guns for Hire and npcs you meet are pretty likeable, and some of them even have good character arcs - but they're underutilised in a game that claims to be about a community coming together to fight against a huge threat.

All in all, i can't really recommend Far cry 5. The story had potential, but it doesn't just fall flat - it crashes and burns, causing a 70-car pile-up with no survivors - not the characters, not the fun side activities, not even the staple Far Cry gameplay can get past the story's bloat. Which is a shame, considering how much I like the rest of the series.

Every enemy acts the same, the blood effect is so bad, there' no blood in the floor once the enemy is down. Pathetic world design, unrealistic weapons, and to think far cry 2 (a 10 years old game) is way better than 5 and more realistic. Shame on you **** again the same open world boring crap, no thanks.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just replayed FC5 thinking I was too harsh the first time around, and I must have really been distracted to think this game was anything other than complete garbage. The story was a complete zero due to the nonsensical aspects that are passed off as reality (a single nuke takes out the world, or that torturing and murdering is "preparing", or that the US police would have ignored all of it). What destroys it is that it is all for nothing. Everything you did is undone at the end of it, unless you let the murderer continue on, making it all for nothing in a slightly slower manner. This was the worst FC game to date, and most of the other complaints (bad minimap, bugs galore, missions triggering before you even get to the area, getting "captured" multiple times while flying, etc) are all true FIVE YEARS later. Supposedly some of this was fixed in FC6 which I will try next. But FC5 is something I will never play again. FC3 and 4 are FAR better, in almost every way (except graphics, and even then they are passable). Expand

There is no character development, there are barely any characters to speak of. All people are bland stereotype goodies/baddies. The Father is dull as heck. The gameplay was also horrible. They've removed the towers but instead the game is choped in to a million pieces almost completely disconnected. The game says everyone will get a unique experience but that's incredibly poorly realized. They've added a whole conditioning mechanism which is an incredibly poor excuse to drive the game forwards. You are messing around, flying, driving, sometimes even in the middle of a mission and the game goes "Well, it's time to cut to black" And you are literally instantly teleported to where you need to be to progress the story. And that happens all the fin time. You just start to enjoy what you are doing and the game teleports you somewhere on a seemingly random place. All characters including you teleport around and do what the story needs them to do regardless of previous occurrences or positioning. They are captured seconds after you've rescued and secured them in a river of blood. It's a nonsensical progression that has been cheeply disguised under something im sure they thing incredibly clever: Drugs and mind conditioning. But thats a game. It's supposed to be a fun joy ride and not "Hyh" moment every time a cut scene starts. Additionally the AI is the worst imaginable, and the game relies overly much on it to progress on some missions. I've failed missions multiple times just because lets say an AI decides to land a chopper on the water and destroys a mission important vehicle. What follows is a reset. The open design now feels restricted. With old Far Cry games most boarders felt natural. It was rare for the game to stop you forcefully and here happens all the time if you move few centimeters away from the bound of the map or the mission to improvise. I love Far Cry 2, 3 and 4. I find them exceptional games. Far Cry Primal is ok, nothing much to rave about. But this game disappointed me so badly. And the progression .... because they know people don't like to do all activities the game is like this time you don't gain experience but we will force you to fish and try to do chain takedowns with the retarded AI or yeah and to use the AI partners if you with to get points. And i can't count the times how many times an partner AI sits face to face with an enemy watching him stupidly and the next second turns around and starts shooting in my position and blowing a near by barrel pretty much killing me instantly, or a vehicle, or just shoots to the bad guys through me. Piece of advice use the animals, they don't drive and are bloody killing machines. I've taken outposts sitting behind the bush and the bear slaughtering everything in sight. So the freedom is disguised with cheap plot devices. The AI is shoved in your face but it's terrible. The story is boring. The setting is bland (no offense fake Montana), and lets not forget OP weapons, i played with 1 sniper and one Rifle from start to end. and the end was running in the middle of firefights shooting from the hip mowing down baddies.

Maybe the only positive things about the game is that it looks amazing and the voice acting is very good.
The non-linear story makes everything seem so generic and repetitive and the flow of things on each region identical to one another. Some parts of the story are straight out of science fiction books and the best way Ubisoft knows how to raise the difficulty is to make enemies bullet sponges and throw any common sense out of the window. The game's ending goes WTF all the way and makes no sense at all. Again they defy logic just for that unexpected factor.
Borrow this games from a friend, rent it or wait for a big sale but don't waste your money on the full price.

While I did not encounter game breaking bugs there were quite a few like car hitting dead wolf and flying into the air, a very strange experience with a plane twerking in the air, teleporting instantly on the ground than taking off directly with no speed gain required, mission objective not being completed properly.
In the beginning I had on average 55 FPS in 4K but the game kept complaining to update my graphics drivers. After the update it dropped 15 fps in 4K to 40 on average, even less and I was forced to play in 1080p.

Far Cry 5 doesn’t propel the series forward — it just refines all of its elements and relegates the infamous towers to the dustbin of history. So if you‘re allergic to open worlds from Ubisoft, don’t say I didn’t warn you. But if you’re eager to meet new wacky characters, complete dozens of missions and enjoy the sights, welcome to Hope County, sinners!
