    I've just re-played Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 again right after each other and I can tell you now (in my opinion) that Far Cry 4 as an action-oriented experience is by far better than Far Cry 3 and it looks a hell of a lot better too. From the graphics to the UI they improved on 3 by quite some!

    What you might like: * A lot of activities to play around in, many optional unless you have    I've just re-played Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 again right after each other and I can tell you now (in my opinion) that Far Cry 4 as an action-oriented experience is by far better than Far Cry 3 and it looks a hell of a lot better too. From the graphics to the UI they improved on 3 by quite some!

    What you might like:
    * A lot of activities to play around in, many optional unless you have to have absolutely every weapon in the game.
    * Unexpected world events that will sometimes make you laugh (and cry at other times when things don't go in your favour)
    * Co-op, user created maps (some of the outposts are absolutely brilliant), varied gameplay elements that round it up just beautifully (standard races, "danger" races as I call them that have you race in dangerous conditions all while switching vehicles to keep the adrenaline pumping), arena combat pitting you against NPC's and wild animals (and against each other), etc.
    * Some fun sequences that will mix things up in areas that look and behave differently to the standard game world...

    What you might not like:
    * Some appear to dislike the story enough to give it a fairly low rating. Sure it's not the best story I've encountered in a game but I honestly don't have it weigh as heavily as the other elements that make a game fun.
    * There are still un-skippable cut-scenes in this one and even after letting a few years pass between replays I found them rather annoying to have to sit through again when I just wanted to get on with the action.
    * A world littered with collectables. This can get pretty long in the tooth having all of these little icons just prompting you to collect them especially when combined with the hunting required to upgrade some vital elements (more weapons, more ammo, larger backpack to carry around stuff, etc.).

    Conclusion:
    * It's a fun game that I've had an absolute blast re-playing again especially while waiting for Far Cry 5. Sure nothing will ever make me pre-order a game ever again but this one will be watched very closely after release to see how the review scores pan out.    … Expand

    In my first review I only gave this a 4 because I was having difficulty getting into the game. Since then I've begun to find my Far Cry 4 feet and am enjoying it more and more ESPECIALLy that the animals make so much difference and are true to life. Snakes bite. Wolves attack in packs, Tigers and leopards maul and Eagles attack from above. But tonight I had an awesome experience. I decided to ride one and walk around.mthrn I noticed an enemy outpost and for fun attacked it. WOW. all hell let loose. They called in reinforcements and killed the elephant I was riding THEN the OTHER ELEPHANT that was also bathing got ugly and rage killed every enemy in the base. Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! So, so impressive taking an outpost on with an angry elephant that it's mate was killed. Does this get any better? No. Never. For that one experience I'm raising this to a 10. What was so amazing was that I attacked the base with only one elephant and never called the other one in but left it downstream bathing. However when it's mate got kaiLled somehow it knew from the cry it let out and in an instant it was raging mad and just killed every enemy. It knew to kill the ones that killed it's mate as it didn't touch my guys when they moved in. I also hand grenades a bear and killed and killed some leopards but wasn't easy. Loving it more as I play more. Glad I bought it. Love the helicopter. Snipered guards at a tower using a silencer and took like taking candy from a baby. Just awesome. First experience was not good but as I learned the ropes I found it awesome.… Expand

    i was VERY sceptical at first, and the game crashed a few times even. but after i got that fixed. you somehow cant help to get into it...
    visuals 10/10 - great great graphics
    sound 10/10 - weapon and soundeffects are stunning , the music is amazing, it really captures the vibe
    gameplay 9/10 - thrilling, to say the least.

    I want to get straight to the point why I love this game. The plot is realistic and very thought engaging, you have to choose side in a very real circumstances. I know this is not the first time for games to offer choices, but I really think Far Cry 4 is the first game that reflects our real world situation. The game has really good graphic and very large world to explore and play, II want to get straight to the point why I love this game.     "Far Cry 4 remained truly spectacular during my visit to Kyrat. Beautiful vistas canvased across the landscape with seemingly open, living and diverse environments to explore. Endless plethora of activities to do while slowly gaining your reputation as the hero of Kyrat which should keep you entertained for hours on end."

    Far Cry is really the Final Fantasy of FPSRPGs - except without all of the emo melodramatic crap. Anyone who has played more than one of the FF series knows that each one is independent (except for the new spin-offs they have been doing). The same can be said about the FC series. FC3 was about a preppy Californian that went skydiving and landed on the wrong island. FC4 is about a man whose sole mission is to spread his mothers ashes in Asia. How the hell would that be an expansion to the preppy Californian kid?

    Pagan Min is not Vaas, but he has his own personality as do many of the other NPCs throughout the game.

    In the end, if you like the FC series, get this. If you are expecting a re-invention of the series and your hype levels are above 11, then go complain about something else, somewhere else.    … Expand

    This is my Game Of The Year for 2014. I have awarded it a 10/10 but I have had technical issues with graphics hitching on my GTX780 when travelling in vehicles (others have noted the same issue). Ubi please add a volume control for the music in FC4. It is far too loud. I also had to manually edit a file to remove mouse smoothing. I am hoping Ubi can fix these issues sooner rather thanThis is my Game Of The Year for 2014.     FC4 is an explorers delight. I compare it favourably with Skyrim where you are encouraged to travel off the well worn path of the main storyline. Whether climbing the beautiful vistas, exploring a dark wet cave, or working out how to approach an enemy outpost there is always something interesting to do.

    Most of the characters are very interesting. The storyline is fairly mundane but not too detracting from the overall experience. But let's be honest FC is more about the gunfights and playing in the sandbox. One mechanic I absolutely love is the ability of enemy troops to assault friendly outposts. I like the random events that fire off every now and then. This version of the Far Cry world is far more alive than earlier releases.

    overall in my book its Far Cry 3.5 than FC4.... If you enjoyed FC3 you will enjoy FC4.

    now bad side is, they need to fix the mouse movement asap, because its hard to aim and move the mouse at the moment (not properly syncd).

    I am not a big Ubisoft fan but the far cry series, even though Crytek separated from has been a great string to their bow. FC4 is simply amazing, it is a huge, rich beautiful world that is full of surprises, it is an advancement from 3 in many positive ways. There is a great sandbox game that leaves you free to prioritise missions so as to achieve whatever goals you set and there areI am not a big Ubisoft fan but the far cry series, even though Crytek separated from has been a great string to their bow. FC4 is simply amazing, it is a huge, rich beautiful world that is full of surprises, it is an advancement from 3 in many positive ways. There is a great sandbox game that leaves you free to prioritise missions so as to achieve whatever goals you set and there are fantastically scripted story missions which continue to stagger me - I have just reached the shangri-la mission which is epic.
    Massive thumbs up to the team behind this - it has blown my expectations.
    I initially had some graphics problems, for some reason on ultra i got a bum frame rate despite having a 295x2, weirdly after altering it to very high and then manually adjusting individual settings back up to ultra I got it running at 60fps ave. all the time and looking damn fine.
    Cant recommend this game enough, if you are into grand theft style games or even if you just like Indo-Himalayan/Tibetan environments you will love this. Work of art!    … Expand

    Far Cry 4 is a great game, an overall improvement over Far Cry 3, it’s not a huge leap regarding game mechanics, but if you liked FC3, you know what to expect and you are gonna like this one too.

    Graphics are extremely beautiful and the landscapes are so stunning, the Himalayas are truly amazing in this game, a breathtaking experience.     The game in a nutshell is a huge, wild, open world sandbox. With tons of side missions, an arena to compete (I had a blast there, it was very challenging and you can use your smartphone with arena master to create your own encounters, try them and share them with the community, which I really enjoyed).

    With so many places to discover and explore, collectibles and secrets to find, a rich culture for Kyrat, some eccentric NPCs, lots of freedom, real time events, a wild, dangerous and sometimes overwhelming (yet pretty) wildlife, I’m sure you will have a great time exploring Kyrat.
    I loved the combat system, it has a lot of action, explosions, gun fights, but also stealthy assaults, you can even ride elephants to kill your enemies in very creative ways. Land vehicles are ok, flying is really fun and sometimes challenging (I wish you could fly a bit higher sometimes). As for the story it’s all right.

    An essential if you loved FC3 and a great game if it’s your first FC. FC4 is a fun game that you shouldn't miss.
    The only downside is coop, I found coop really weak and it’s a shame you can’t play the campaign missions in this way, just a bunch of side quest missions which can be fun at first, but gets old and repetitive soon enough and it’s a two player only mode… coop in FC3 was way, way better than this. Consider FC4 a single player game, coop feels like a waste here. This is my only complaint.    … Expand

    The game already gets downvoted. Most likely from people who don't own the game, as usual.

    The game is actually really good. It performs really well, and it is a lot of fun. If you enjoyed Far Cry 3, you will like this one aswell. And well, unlike AC Unity this one actually works. ;)

You can ride an elephant and shoot from an RPG at the same time, you can fly a helicopter and carpet bomb your foes with grenades. You can even ride a helicopter elephant, though I haven't tried but I wouldn't be surprised if you could. Get the game. Ignore the negative votes, those are from people who buy a game from Ubisoft and expect it to work within the first few months, some people just never learn.… Expand

    Great game, great visuals and well optimized, with 760 Gtx on Ultra/high getting 60fps avg, which is very nice, MP modes are really and campaign is a good as FC3, must have for any FC or FPS fans.

    FOV adjustment was added in the day zero patch, as well as SLI support. The game runs absolutely great on my rig. Granted... I've heard that if you PIRATED the game you may have all kinds of problems with shadows and crashes and what not,    I cannot believe people are downvoting this, this is an absolutely amazing game.     So do yourself a favor, don't believe the naysayers. Buy the game from origins, play 5-10h and see for yourself. Trust me, I'm an old-school gamer and this is a great game! I would typically have given this a 9/10 but now I have to make it 10/10 just because of all the idiots giving it 0/10.    … Expand

    Great game. Beautiful world. no lag with ultra setting, no crash. Combat is fun, driving is fun, flying is fun and burning everything with explosive is even funnier.

    This game is special for me and for all Indians. Playing a world class game with characters speaking Hindi(especially the abusive language used is so typical of Hindi) was truly a delightful experience.
    Apart from that the game is fun to play, visuals of Himalayas are stunning , gameplay is flawless and the story telling in shang re la part is indeed inspiring.

    Really though, game is amazing. I mean, I played it for 5 hours, and did 1 main mission.
    Also, Elephants are OP. They don't die, they insta-kill everything, you can shoot while on them(Pocket Rocket FTW) and you get a ton of Xp with them. And you can spend your first perk point on it. Screw end-game.

    All the downvoters are people who don't have next-gen PCs and took it out on recent games like AC:U, DA:I, and Farcry 4 instead of themselves. Go play games like "This War of Mine" instead, clearly those games are the norm now.

    With 2x 980GTX and an i7 4790K I achieve 60 FPS at 1440p and it is terrific, a definite improvement over the already perfect original.     I really like this game. The game play is fluid, the story is interesting and Kyrat is a really beautiful place.If you liked Far Cry 3, you will certainly like this one. Finally, Pegan Min and the COOP is AWESOME

    FC 3.5 , Ubisoft, Bad optimize. Its a good game and its a series.. if you wanted something completly different it wouldnt have been called Far cry X ... Bad optimize? Seen this on every new game... Most of the time its people not having strong enough PC.. the graphics got improved alot in 2015 games... And worst case droping from ULTRA to very high is OK you wont likley to feel theFC 3.5 , Ubisoft, Bad optimize. Its a good game and its a series.. if you wanted something completly different it wouldnt have been called Far cry X ... Bad optimize? Seen this on every new game...     Already addicted. Yes they did not re-invent the wheel, but what they added is beautiful. The story is awesome, the guns feel powerful, and I feel like I am quickly progressing in game. I have been unable to turn it off yet, and I am usually a negative Nelly about most games this year.

    Im 100 % that the developers of far cry have nothing to do with AC no matter ubisoft montreal are the same . Engine: dunia . Port: 10 . Vram is 3gb max . Hear me right: you can plug the ps4 controller and it uses the touch-screen ( no xbox interface)!! That was blown mind .
    Story; gameplay and sound is great so far . Playing with 780 ti 1080p 60 fps with smaa .     I am in love with this game! It runs so nicely, it looks amazing, the characters are brilliant (I Love Pagan Min), the new animals are nicely done look so beautiful. Everything about this game is amazing, the story line is perfect loving every minute of it. Can't wait to finish the game and see what happens at the end :) I'm going to be sad to actually finish this game.

    Given the game is almost a decade old at this point I won't write a very detailed review, just wanted to say it's easily my favorite of the franchise. Very engaging story, loved the location of the game, and has the best mechanics as well.

    My original score/review for this game was a big, fat ZERO. Now? It's a solid TEN. Why the change? Because Ubisoft made the critical mistake of releasing a game without adequate QA testing on very common, standard PC setups and peripherals. I was unable to play for more than a week. However, now that the game has been successfully patched to run correctly with a Logitech G13 controller, IMy original score/review for this game was a big, fat ZERO. Now? It's a solid TEN. Why the change? Because Ubisoft made the critical mistake of releasing a game without adequate QA testing on very common, standard PC setups and peripherals. I was unable to play for more than a week. However, now that the game has been successfully patched to run correctly with a Logitech G13 controller, I must say two things:

    1) It's WAY more rich and interesting than Far Cry 3. The people claiming that "it's just a reskinned FC3 with nothing new or different" are IMO totally nuts. Ubisoft has added a LOT of new mechanics and fine tuned some things that were "meh" about FC3. The "autopilot" on ground vehicles is a GREAT and welcome enhancement over getting around. Set your waypoint, get the vehicle moving on the road with a waypoint path, then go autopilot. You can set the speed, look at the scenery, fight, etc. Glider suits are AWESOME: leap off any cliff or hill and glide as much as you like with this always-ready transportation. Grapple points, climbing, swinging, re-grappling at the end of swings, etc. is all so very much fun. The ultralight copters let you fly directly from point A to point B and are reusable as long as you don't damage them. Plenty of transport options every where, all the time, including the awesome Elephant riding. Taking forts is tougher and more interesting. The AI of all the standard enemy types is noticeably better than in FC3. And finally: Hunters. OMG, the new Hunter enemy types are just hella fun to fight and play cat and mouse with.

    2) The storyline is solid. It's different than FC3. The actors/characters are IMO more engaging than in FC3. The voice acting is great. Pagan Min is a great villain who keeps you guessing and seemingly has shades of gray rather than being a cartoon cutout villain. The two opposing leaders of the Golden Path are both sympathetic, interesting, and believable. There are way more decision points (interesting, not easy decision points), and way more types of quests and "completionist" objectives, with useful rewards.    … Expand

    This game is genuinely amazing. It looks great, It runs great. Gameplay is awesome. Mouse input is still quite terrible but I'm sure they'll patch it up soon.     This game is genuinely amazing. It looks great, It runs great. Gameplay is awesome. Mouse input is still quite terrible but I'm sure they'll patch it up soon.     The best in the series. Forget Blood Dragon this goes back to some nice roots with sleeping being put back in to the game and keeps the amazing gameplay of 3. Nepal is absolutely beautiful, have fun get exploring and keep away from Pagan!

    FC4 is exactly what I expected. They take the cool stuff from Far Cry 3, add more awesome stuff and some great and crazy characters.
    I've got no technical issues and everything looks really nice. The places to discover are really beautiful. At the moment (after 20h playing) I can't name any negative point, except my skills against the wild animals :D I think, I'm in love with this game.

    I have Halo MCC, Shadows of Mordor, Lego Batman 3, Sunset Overdrive, COD AW and none of them come even close to this game in pure fun factor. In general I am not fond of "open world" type game, but this game is just amazing.. and co-op mode.. OMG!! GET THIS GAME NOW!

    Amazing game they took FarCry3 to its full potential and made FarCry4. The shooting is more solid and the world is more beautiful and the graphics much better. The story could have been even better but its fine the way it is too. All in all its a very solid game with almost no flaws what so ever. There is so much to unlock and do in the world and so many weapons its crazy awesome.

    There are a lot of comments where people are saying that Far Cry 4 is basically the same game as Far Cry 3 and some are calling it Far Cry 3.5. What a load of CRAP! Far Cry 4 is Far Cry 4 and is totally different than Far Cry 3. Hell the graphics engine used in Far Cry 4 is different than Far Cry 3 and you can see the difference in details if you have played both. the graphics in Far Cry 4 are simply sublime!

    A lot of new game mechanics in Far Cry 4 like the Grapling, Gyrocopter, riding elephants, using animals to help take down outposts etc.

    Far Cry 4 is by far the best game release that I have played for 2014. It is a lot of fun and I highly recommend it. Ignore the negative reviews as I doubt they really played the game.    … Expand

    One of the really rare games that I have completed in the last 3 years. If you have any doubt - buy it. Totally worth it!!!

    Gameplay may sometimes seem to be boring, but there are so many events to participate! I enjoyed it for 30 hours which is too much for me, because I have little free time.

    I think this game is absolutely amazing! Open world with lot of wildlife and the scent of Himalayas are awesome! I would strongly recommend this game to everyone who loves the Far Cry series.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I saw the ?User rating for this game @ 6.5 i was shocked, Personally I think this is one of the best story driven games that i have played in a long long time.

    Don't get me wrong it is not perfect, but all of the issues I was had were all technical related.
    The game for me ran great, minus a few lag spikes and some micro-stutter when 1.0 came out.
    Since then the dev's have released like 5 updates, the first one made the game take like 5 minutes at a black screen before it would come up, not exaggerating. then the second update made my games physics run terrible, mob would do random wierd things and i kept hitting the dashboard when i drove a car, no matter what i did. then the third and 4th, and 5th updates seemed to fix most of these issues.

    I am now running like day 1 but without the micro-stutter.
    All that aside, let me review the actual game.

    Graphics: Personally this to me is a beautiful game, it has great visuals and effects and it has unique and interesting locations.
    With all of the gameworks tweaks on, it looks amazing, except for fur. the fur implemented looks chunky and made of floating dots. I saw photos online of what it was suppose to look like and it looks amazing on the development page, but not in game.
    I like the red truck = bad guy, blue = good guy, but the variety of vehicles could have been a little more diverse.

    The AI: is hit or miss, but really fun. the predator class animals hunt the prey and sometime you will be flying over an area and see a big cat chasing deer or two bears fighting, or a rhino flipping cars, if the humans were not so dumb it would be a little more challenging

    Sound: I have 5.1 and it is amazing to be able to turn right to the animal attacking me by sound alone.

    Gameplay: 12/10 IMHO, i loved FC3 but it was lacking something, the flying around and unique interactions with NPC's and the wild life, make even the most boring times more fun that some alternative games...

    then there are the side missions, these make the game amazing, the Yogi missions are a blast and funny, the Shangra-la ones are brilliant, and the hurk ones are funny too.    … Expand

    * Many missions find a satisfying balance between appropriate difficulty and urgency
    * Pagan Min, Ravi Ray Rana, and Reggie & Yogi had me laughing throughout the game. Pagan Min's TV broadcast, in particular, had me howling.
    * This can also be annoying (I also listed it as something I don't enjoy) but the complete and utter chaos that can just randomly occur literally ANYWHERE in Kyrat can also be highly entertaining. You might encounter a bear fight, eagle attack, gunboat, several enemy patrols, and a Karma event all at once. You can see how this might become annoying after a while when you're just trying to move around the map, but it can also be completely hilarious.

    What I didn't enjoy:
    * The amount of time it takes to load or reload your game. This can be almost unbearable if you need to redo an area several times.
    * Too many random encounters. This is mostly remedied by getting the 87 shotgun early in the game, and by vehicles and fast travel, but it can still be annoying if you need to run somewhere. I recall one spot where the entire area was just littered with dozens of animal and guard bodies, it looked like a post-apocalypse and all I was trying to do was run from point A to point B.
    * Accidentally swapping guns when I want to loot a body. When you kill an enemy, they drop their gun. You then have the option to HOLD (E) pick up their gun, which drops your current one, or also (E) loot the body. I did this so many times. Why hold E? Why not just tap it and get a loot screen with the gun and body loot all together in one place like a normal game? It's just such a weird design decision to mess up since so many games have done it right in the past.
    * In general, I did not like the Shangri La levels. I like the look and idea of Sangri La, but they are poorly executed. All your weapons are swapped out for a basic Shangri La bow which isn't all that fun to use. They also have some gimmick you have to figure out like "perform a takedown on this guy 3 times," only it doesn't tell you to do it 3 times, it only tells you once, so I was sitting there shooting him over and over with the bow for no reason. The core combat is so fun and satisfying, it's just a total letdown to swap out all your favorite guns for some basic bow and do clunky, gimmicky combat instead. I would just skip the atrocious Superman 64 flying level altogether.
    * A few special events irritated me like Jalendu Temple where I kill all guards and destroyed all 4 alarms without being detected and reinforcements were still called in. Who exactly called them in, and how? Everyone was dead, and all the alarms were disabled.
    * They didn't let us have Kyrat Fashion Week? SERIOUSLY? I was looking forward to that almost as much as ridding Kyrat of Pagan Min. BOO!

    Special:
    * Interface - There are a LOT of buttons in this game because there are so many things you can do. This can be frustrating at first, but it feels very good when you get used to everything. I also found it pretty easy to get lost on the keyboard at critical moments and hit the wrong key, but this was mostly remedied with practice. After getting used to all the keys, I really love the default layout.

    Overall:
    Far Cry 4 is a classic and a personal favorite of mine with a few slight blemishes I'm not willing to knock off a star for since the game is so amazing.    … Expand

    I'm going to go against the grain of the 'User' reviews here because this is my game of the decade (2010's).
    The mainstream trend are the people that cry out that this game is ''FC 3.5''. This could not be any less accurate. The facts are that it's a totally different storyline (and wow, what an Epic stage you are set here). Far-Cry 3 appears to be aimed at teens, Far Cry 4 is the far more understanding, grown-up affair.

    I disliked the wannabe-edgy, tightly-wound cliched plot of FC3. I liked the 'voodoo slant' it had, it by no means is 'bad' but it's just basically another drug baron fest with the usual ''characters'' all macho burly men and blabla yea whatever. ''Avenge you slain brother/sister''. ''Oh, your friend's getting tortured by generic-villain X, avenge!!'' Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Never heard those before!

    But hey, these sort of easy-cheap 'stories' and 'characters' sell, don't they?

    Far Cry 4 is civil war. The setting is incredible; there's no deep ''jungle warfare'' or trenches or boring tactics here: instead Kyrat is open, mountainous with tonnes of nooks and crannies (where the sidequests take place).

    It's an Open-World playground where your meaning has actual severe weighting on a nation. Kyrat is distinct, and has the token 'Far Cry oddities' in the lore of the legends; hallucinogenic tripfests that manifest themselves in the game's side-quests.

    These are weird, trippy and an amazing experience that have a neat 'boss' battle tossed in normally at the end. You encounter the ancient lore and history of the region 1st hand in this 'zone'. Strange versions of tigers, a Masked-maniac ancient assassin, even a Yeti!

    Not the silly stage where you're teleported into a small dark-room totally unexplained to engage in a boring weird fight between a drug baron wielding a knife that makes 0 sense. Is it the 'dagger' doing that? It's never explained anyway. Try using a proper sword Far Cry 3 xD

    Anyway; this gives you many weapons; knives, AR's, MG's and RL's. You ride a neat makeshift scrapyard influenced min-copter that is surprisingly efficient.

    The neat thing is; at the 'turning point' of the game, you have to pledge allegiance with one of the 3 'leaders'. And this is the amazing part; none of them are really ''Good''. There's no ''avenge the bad guyyy!1'' here; this is an uneasy, unsettling fork in your life-story to own a whole region, your own country.

    What does FC3 give you? Nothing. There's an option to kill all your friends anyway which is stupid and flies in the face of the so called ''avenge your brother'' narrative they want to push. What's that all about? Makes 0 sense. You're just given the choice and what's your reward; FC3 shows you no ''Aztec Pyramid of Gold'' or a whole armory of the most badass weapons to rule the island with (for the bad guy ending). It's pointless.

    FC4 gives you a Nation with post side quests to perk your tools POST-GAME. It's absolutely satisfying and to also know, you have a very powerful ally you sided with who is now BENEATH YOU in serving you.

    At least these aren't your friends but killing one of Amita, Subhal or Pagan still leaves you with a weird, uneasy feeling.

    None of them are designed ''ugly''. Subhal looks like your best m8 dude. Pagan has amazing tastes in suits and Amita is the 'treasured girl'. But all have blood on their hands, it almost frustrates you but then you suddenly realise - what is power?

    You realise the maturity in knowing, owning a Nation, total power - you're never totally 'clean'. Yet, you have so much power. Kids waxing on FC3's ''avenge himm!!!'' simpleton story just will not understand the meaning behind civil war.

    I could go on about the actual gameplay mechanic, the details of the wildlife but honestly, it'd fill 2 pages. The game of course is not 'perfect perfect'; you will find a few 'expected' Open-world flaws such as the story being just 'too loose' for some and enemy AI can be poor. And on normal settings, it's just too easy, with too many perks and abilities to re-gain your health even mid-battle!

    Inquisitive, thought-provoking, trippy, mature - with a playground of riches, wildlife and oddities to discover all beneath your 2 feet. Glorious!    … Expand

Я прошёл игру, стараясь упускать побочный мусор от юбисофт, чтобы погрузиться в прекрасную игру. Прошел я Фар Край 4 за 16 с половиной часов. Больше всего мне понравились сюжет, геймплей, персонажи, стрельба, актёры.
    Коротко о геймплее и открытом мире: это обычный шутер с десятками оружия, в котором тебе нужно продвигаться по сюжеты, захватывать вышки, аванпосты. Открытый мир выглядит живым, но большинство побочек, собирательств и т.д. - это просто мусор.
    О сюжете: Аджай Гейл (главный герой игры) отправляется в город Кират, чтобы развеять прах матери, но по дороге машину останавливают вооружённые злодеи во главе с Пэйганом Мином(главным антоганистом игры) и Пэйган убивают дружка Аджая, который в итоге выбирается из плена Мина и у него появляется новая цель: убить Пэйгана Мина. После чего начинается сама игра. Потом Гейл замечает, как Амита и Сабал ссорятся и не могут принять общее решение. Здесь был выбор и я встал на сторону Амиты, выполнил пару-тройку миссий для неё, после чего поумнел, и когда был следующий выбор, я встал на сторону Сабала. Дальше мы рушим планы Пэйгана, убиваем его солдат, убиваем нескольких помощников Юмы (Юма - это помощница Пэйгана Мина). После этого всего, Аджая Гейла снова поймали в плен. На этот раз дозорила Юма. Она его накачала чем-то и он видел галлюцинации. В итоге он сбежал. Начинается 3-ий акт. Аджай и Сабал продолжают рушить планы Пэйгана. Мин наслал на Гейла Юму и Аджай отправился за ним. Она снова накачала его какими-то веществами, но он смог её вслепую, видя галлюцинации, убить. Спустя какое-то время они застали Пэйгана и погнали за ним. Аджай догнал Мина и убил его...
    Но это оказался его двойник. Приключения ещё не закончились. Амита стала пытаться убить армию Пэйгана и самого Мина, совсем не заботясь о городе. Она чуть не уничтожила одну крепость, но её атаки были отражены Золотым путём. Сабал дал поручение Гейлу убить Амиту, которая не соблюдает давние традиции Золотого пути. В итоге Аджай Гейл застрелил Амиту. Остался только Пэйган. Армия Золотого пути захватила одну из главных крепостей протагониста. Дальше Аджай Гейл ворвался во дворец Пэйгана. Мин предложил ему не убивать его, а просто развеять прах матери и остаться в мире. Аджай достал пистолет и застрелил Пэйгана. Конец
    Это был краткий пересказ сюжета.

    Don't understand all of the "it's like Far Cry 3" complaints. Guess what? Far Cry 3 was like Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 2 was like the original Far Cry. It's a huge, sandbox adventure series that has the same components - capturing strong points, fighting off animals, crafting and following a "be the hero" story line. If people are looking for something completely different, go play MetroDon't understand all of the "it's like Far Cry 3" complaints. Guess what? Far Cry 3 was like Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 2 was like the original Far Cry. It's a huge, sandbox adventure series that has the same components - capturing strong points, fighting off animals, crafting and following a "be the hero" story line. If people are looking for something completely different, go play Metro or Fallout.

    Only into it about 4 hours, but beautiful graphics, engaging story line, great action sequences and a HUGE world to explore. Just what the doctor ordered.

    If you're a Far Cry fan - that's FAR CRY, not anything else - that follows the Far Cry series recipe, you'll enjoy this one as much or more than the previous versions.    … Expand

    I just finished FC 3 to be in the "mood" when I started playing FC 4 and I am not disappointed, yes it is the same basic concept, but there are also differences making it a new experience.

    The scenery is spectacular.

    The AI is much improved.
    It is no longer possible to take an outpost by standing at a distance taking out the guards one by one with the sniper rifle. The guards take more damage and they will hunt you down instead of reverting to their scripted track 2 seconds after you shot the guy next to them.. The alarms are better protected against tampering, so you have to get close or stand at an awkward angle to shoot at them.

    There are also tons of predators, and they will kill you if you do not kill them first. So walking around is no longer safe.

    Hunting is MUCH more fun than in FC3 and you need to hunt a lot of animals to get your gear upgrades. Lots of variation and much more challenging than in FC3.

    The weapon upgrades are slower to appear, you will have to advance much further before getting a mini gun...again it puts more pressure on the player and makes it impossible to finish the game in a few hours.

    Flying a light helicopter is great fun and flying low over water or trees have a significant visual effect on both. Making it much more life like. If you jump out of the helicopter before landing will break it bringing more realism in to the game.

    I have not played more than approx 25% of the game and therefore there are lots of things yet to experience, for instance taking one of the fortresses, but I am looking forward to the ride.

    If you liked FC3 then go for FC4.

    If you do not like open world stealth games with a lot of side quests and just want to shoot somebody and get to the next level, then this game is not for you.

Not even using the Crytek    I really didn't want or expect to like this game.

    So I skipped Far Cry 3. And all Crysys sequels.
    But I've been bored waiting for GTA V. So I, uh "tried out" a few new games. And found myself totally loving Far Cry 4! I immediately went and bought it (full price $69, and this weekend it's on sale on Steam for $45. Grrr oh well). I've played 50 hours so far, won it, but keep playing just for the fun. The graphics are gorgeous, the live world around you feels like a true if a bit insane wilderness.

    I have a core i5-3670k@ 4.4 ghz, and an AMD r9 280x. I can run at 2560x1440 with everything on Ulltra, but with AA off, and get a very smooth 40-50fps.

    This game has provided me hours of entertainment. 52 last time I checked. And honestly the game world is HUGE, tons of stuff to do, the collection quests are mostly optional. When I first installed this and played I really was expecting to be dissappointed. Instead I love, and I went and bought the $30 Season Pass so I have more to do. So that's $90 for the whole game basically. But you know what, it's actually worth that.
    Well done Ubisoft. I've only had about 3 glitches getting stuck in rocks, and no crashes.

    Edit: Yes there are annoyances. Like cutscenes you have to sit through. I just alt-tab until it's done.    … Expand

    Overall, it's another quite enjoyable game, but it's gotten old pretty quick. Far Cry 3 was lots of fun, but with everything being basically the same, it lacks the same entertainment value. Get it when the price goes down unless you can't wait.    … Expand

Refreshingly, the narrative takes itself seriously and knows when to dial back on the humour to tell a much more personal, and frankly desperate, tale of political hierarchies. The centre argument for Far Cry 4 isI loved Far Cry 4, I thought it was such a meaningful and deeply personal story about decision and political choice. Truly quite unique for a big Triple AAA title. Refreshingly, the narrative takes itself seriously and knows when to dial back on the humour to tell a much more personal, and frankly desperate, tale of political hierarchies. The centre argument for Far Cry 4 is religious/cultural vs economic/capitalist future, and I think the game actually does a perfect job at balancing out the pros and cons of each situation. Pagan Min is frankly the best Far Cry villain, simply because he isn't purely messed up, deranged or the typical evil villain there is elegance in the writing and the way the game depicts him. Also, the setting of Kyrat is gorgeous so much has already been said.

    This game does so much more than 5 or Far Cry 6...it's much more challenging and immerse than those games also, which is upsetting because you want games to build upon the foundations of what came before. Not dial back and give us the same experience. In saying that, when Far Cry 4 came out it was compared quite a lot to Far Cry 4, I argue however that the game adds more mechanics, difficulty and from a graphical/technical point of view is much more beautiful and immerse than 3. I also think the narrative and way they add a new vehicle for traversal really shakes up the game play in unique ways.

    Either way, bottom line, Far Cry 4 amazed me, I loved every moment of it. The only negative being more that this Far Cry game is the model used for every other future Ubisoft game, making the experience in 2022 somewhat feel dated and familiar.    … Expand

    Clocking in 36.5 hour to beat the story and all side missions, I feel this is one of the best open-world action/adventure games I've ever experienced. The graphics on Ultra are a visual feast. Fun gameplay, lots to do and explore. Flying is an excellent addition to the series. The Shangri-la missions are some of the most visually beautiful moments I've had in a video game, striking aClocking in 36.5 hour to beat the story and all side missions, I feel this is one of the best open-world action/adventure games I've ever experienced. A couple things that would make this the perfect Far Cry game would be a lot more customization options - not only for the weapons but also your attire. The land vehicles seem the same as before. They don't feel unique enough but the air vehicle (the Buzzer) makes what would have been long and boring journeys an exciting zip across the luscious landscape of Kyrat. The story was decent but what I thought was well done was the character development as well as the choices you are able to make between them. Overall, these features make Far Cry 4 a solid entry in the series and highly enjoyable. (The references to other games don't hurt) If you even remotely like Far Cry 3, this would be an obvious purchase.… Expand

Some nitpicking would be that the 'press button to...' trigger not always show on time and the re-load times are longer than most shooters, thus will cost you often the fight... and what is with these eagles - is this suppose to be fun?. There is also the occasional glitch, but again, I don't care as long as it's not in the way (playing v1.6). I really can't relate to anybody hating this, even on a level I am trying to imagine. Probably the correct advice is just to try it out for yourself (at least the Demo). Don't let the score discourage you, because for me, this is one of the best games out there.    … Expand

    The gameplay is somewhat like fc3. But more exciting and fast paced. Always have to be alert and battle ready. Making different choices will change the course of the story. Graphics as usual is awesome. The explosion effect is very realistic. Good work from ubisoft (overlooking the **** they have made in Ac unity)

Update patches seemed to break the game and make it unplayable, but once i got it working i was in another world. The Dunia 2 game engine is beautiful as ever, and the game itself is VERY big! There is no shortage of quests, and exploration to be done, including the mini/ side missions, of which there are many.     Как всегда, экстравагантный главный злодей. Правда один он такой здесь. Остальные так себе. Но зато его с лихвой хватает.
    В целом, геймплей не изменился. Добавились некоторые нововведения. Кое-что упростили. Что только пошло на пользу. Ведь теперь не приходиться тратить доп.время или выделенную ячейку оружия на что-то стороннее.

    Сюжет как и в 3 части хороший. Но на мой взгляд, все-таки слабее. Введение моральных выборов ему добавило остроты. Игра стала интереснее в каком-то плане. Но вот мотивация ГГ не раскрыта так ярко, как в 3 части. Я бы даже сказал, она вообще не совсем понятна.
    Это то обстоятельство, которое сделало сюжет в данной части слабее третьей. В 3 части герой сначала спасал своих друзей, свою любимую. А потом, проникся чувствами и к предводительнице повстанцев. И здесь были понятны его мотивы. В четвёртой части этого нет. Ведь, по сути, по сюжету главный герой не борется за идею, он не одержим ей. Он приехал для другого. Он не проникся идеей сопротивления. Он даже толком и не понял, что происходит, пытался разобраться. Поэтому, с одной стороны сюжет стал интереснее из-за введения моральных выборов, из-за борьбы, из-за интриг, которые разворачиваются. А с другой, главный герой как бы стоит отдельно от этого. И не понятно что его мотивирует. Отсюда, не понятно его такое ярое стремление помогать именно повстанцам.
    В 3 части личные мотивы ГГ способствовали его вхождению и принятию стороны повстанцев. Они помогали ему, он им. А здесь не совсем понятно, почему он выбрал сторону именно повстанцев. Пейган Мин не показался таким отвратительным. И мне лично он импонировал больше в некоторых моментах, чем предводители повстанцев. Да и оказать помощь в исполнении миссии главного героя он также мог.
    В итоге, Аджай легко мог стать на сторону Пейгана. И на мой взгляд, необходимо было добавить именно данный выбор в начале игры.
    Введение романтической линии, могло бы разрешить проблему мотивации главного героя. Проникся Аджай чувствами к кому-то из повстанцев-женщин (Амите, например, или другой героине, которую можно было бы ввести, например, еще в автобусе, где её вместе с ним забирают и судьба ей становиться не известной, и он пытается разобраться в этом, спасти её и т.п.). Но не сложилось.

    Звуковое сопровождение в данной части мне понравилось больше. Оно более в тему, что ли, к определённому моменту. Игра стала более эмоционально насыщенной, включая и вследствие этого.

    Подводим итог. Геймплей, музыка на высоте. Они заслуживают 10 баллов. А вот сюжет, пусть и с моральными выборами стал, но подкачал. Отдельно за сюжет поставил только 7. И именно за моральные выборы. Не будь их, оценка была бы не выше 5.

    - Solid controls
    - More difficult AI. On Hard mode, if you go in guns blazing you will most likely die.

But then comes the decision, is it worth $70? No. Is it worth 30$-50$? Yes. Pick this game up if it is on sale, and make sure to pick up a copy for a friend, because it is enjoyed most with a good buddy to blow up their truck after jumping out. My verdict rests at, as it stands only the more hardcore Far Cry fans or those who don't mind shelling out top dollar for a triple A game should buy it. Otherwise wait for it to drop in price. 8.5/10-9/10 I feel is suitable.… Expand

    That said- the small differences from FC3 I really liked. Namely, the grappling mechanic to help scale vertical faces, the small helicopter thing to get around the island easily, fortresses in addition to outposts, the wingsuit/parachute idea, these were all very welcome additions.

    One of the best things about FC3 were the drugged up hallucinogenic sections, and they managed to fit these into this game as well. And of course the most fun part of the gameplay- outposts- are here too. I love them so much (they were also my favorite part of Watchdogs). I will buy all future games in the series as long as they have outposts for me to clear.

    The only reason this is getting a 9 and not a 10 is a save bug, I have had to re-do missions I previously completed three times now, despite the yellow save icon appearing after I completed them the first time. Fortunately the missions were all fun.    … Expand

    I admit I didn't play Far Cry 3, so maybe that is why I found so amazing this game: compared to FC2 it is new and absolutely mind blowing;
    fact is that is huge fun, a wonderful sensorial experience, it is visually stunning (with some drop in style...) and overall will just take your time more than you can actually "do".

    HD with i5 2500k @4.5 and a GTX 970 OC --> all ULTRA (but TXAA 2x) or NVIDIA settings, with never less than 50 FPS and averaging 54 FPS (activating DSR just half the frame to 30 v-synced but with drops).
    There are bugs, but after ACU nothing shocking, and they get fixed.
    (juts one comment: yes, it's true: aiming with mouse is difficult and tedious, using an xbox pad it's just matter of very short time for good precision).    … Expand

As far as story goes, it's quite bland, basically you are some gun mad man that just happens to lead a country to victory, however in the story you will have to make some decisions and usually I don't feel like I'm affected by decisions in games, but it was really hard for me to either kill or spare certain people.     The best Far Cry game ever ! Nice gameplay, amazing graphics and a very great storyline. However, for a future Far Cry, you could improve on multiplayer, and A.I !

    Доработанный far cry 3. с кучей пушками, с кучей всего. экшена и перестролок стало больше. гг просто выносит один всю армию, круче рембо. графика отпад. музыка шикарная. сюжет подкачал, но зато много выбора добавили.Куча разных заданий интересных. Добавили крепости( на послднейц был пот). крутые миссии в гималаях. добавили приключение в шангри ла где нужно убивать демонов.     It is a fun game. The gameplay and the story are awesome. The story for me is 10/10. The main story follows Ajay Ghale, a young Kyrati-American, as he is caught in a civil war involving Kyrat's Royal Army, controlled by tyrannical king Pagan Min, and a rebel movement called the Golden Path. And there are many plot twists and different finals, but    One of my favorite games of all time.

The final is really interesting either way and it is one of the few games I really liked the story.

    The gameplay is also incredible, the player has so many takedowns options and they all are fun and simple to execute as every game should be. It is sensational trying to invade an enemy base just to try to kill everyone with takedowns, it is the best part of the game. Also, I really love the healings animation.

    Also, I've played Far Cry 3 and I like way more the 4. I think pretty much all things were improved, even the story I think the 4 is better.    … Expand

    This is a decent game with amazing music and fun scenarios. The story, which was full of great actors as well as Emcap and Movecap, undermined itself by taking a direction that didn't make sense. Yet, even having a little bit of EmCap and MoveCap even though they went the wrong direction with it just made it better.     The animals tended to be out of control as well. People wandering around tended to get randomly attacked by up to 3 different animals as well. You can hear them so often yelling about a different animal like it was 'Short Bus to the Zoo Day'.

    The combat is decent and challenging. The weapons are satisfying to use. The scenarios are both diverse and fun. There are also fun situations that you find yourself in. Amazing music. The Bombay Royale is just epic! Those Reggie and Yogi quests just rock it!

    Despite all the issues with aspects to this game, the epic qualities pull it to a level of being one of the best. Far Cry 3 was a very different game in so many ways. Those people thinking that it is "The same" have no feel. I would give this game a 9.4...but the closest to that is a 9. Well done!    … Expand

After playing FC2 which I liked alot, i was hooked on wow, so missed alot of good games ic, now i am done with wow, I played FC5, I realy loved that game, except it was a bit easy, maybe should play hard instead. Ai was a bit messed up.After finishing i was damn , its over, so was thinking should I buy FC4, would be a downgrade, but for $12,- dollar, i thought lets give it a shot, and deal with the poor graphics . was i wrong, FC4, was even better than 5 and the grphics for 2014 game, was suprisilly good consider i played fc5 before. More depth in story, and side missions shangri-la where amazing imo, the AI was better than on fc5 , (bit weird though). Also what i liked more is that you have to work to get better weapons, on 5 I got the best sniper-gun right away from start, spoiled the game a bit imo. Though the skill interface and weapon wheel where better on 5. But Iam on 25 hours orso now and on 50% (yes taking my time) and love every minute of it.… Expand

    Far Cry 4 takes the best bits of Far Cry 3, puts a new spin on them and drops its troubling racial politics and constrained mission design. The story and characters a bit more lightweight, but the core remains the same. Overall, this is a leaner, meaner Ubi-style open world experience and the best iteration on the franchise.

    With Far Cry 4 you get what you loved in Far Cry 3 - improved and with some innovations. Playability is great, but it will force you to think of the state of the game industry and everlasting urge of producers to cannibalize their own titles. [Issue#248]
