The game was quite buggy (good thing I saved independent save states almost constantly), but for the most part I enjoyed the gameplay and the story. That being the said, the ending left me feeling disappointed and unsatisfied. Fallout 3 had a great ending directly influenced by player choice. Fallout NV had a zillion different ending options, which is a great concept revived from the original Fallout games, however NONE of the endings are fully satisfying for a player who truly wants to be a hero of the wastes. I did everything I could to have positive karma and to choose the most morally upright option, but every major quest path at the end of the game requires you to commit an act or two which gives you negative karma and leaves you feeling like your hands are dirty. There's a reason folks like stories with happy endings where good triumphs over evil. I'm disappointed that there was no undeniably "good" quest path option for the character to take. There's merely a variety of greater and lesser evils, different shades of grey from which the player must choose to aid. I chose the least of the evils, and felt slimed at my pathetic ending as the narration reminded me that the least evil option was still evil enough to ruin the fate of a couple of factions. I was merely a pawn thrown into the immovable cog that is the Mojave's depressing fate. I enjoyed the gameplay and the journey to the end, but was ultimately disappointed by the ending. Expand

Negatives-Horrible glitches, graphics are too faded, most of NPCs just walking around or sit, most of things are unexplained so that many people miss dialogues and chooses in gameplay, last battle is not epic as its should be,I know the FO series is mainly walk game but no driveable vehicles is just dissapointing because you see many of them even bikes parked close to tavern in first city and just walking dont fit mood, some factions dont even leave the location where is their HQ,some chooses dont affect gameplay nor the story and some factions are poorly written, only 30 skill levels, corridor like walking because highly dangerous enemies are everywhere and in high numbers, characters are like they exist and they goes and like some mentioned the guns feels outdated.
Things depends highly on your opinion are main story and Wild West like mood. Both feels more like more like gangster Tarantino movie than a Fallout world but I dont count this into my points. Some good hours I have with this but nah its not great game. Not by a story and not by a open world terms.

A truly great game by Obsidian, which was taken im a different direction than Fallout 3. It brings more options for factions, which was a refreshing change. However, while it brings enhanced gameplay, the exploration and atmosphere don't quite match that of Fallout 3.

The story is cumbersome and boring; the dialogue is dull, wordy, repetitive and uninteresting; the voice acting lacks any real direction - character lines are delivered limply, even by the "big name" actors. Inappropriate casting choices also hamper immersion (the choice of John Doman as Caesar is particularly bizarre).

Bethesda - get better writers and better voice directors. Your game has once again been sabotaged by a lack of quality.

You can't release a game in this state. A month later, its still possible to encounter 100's of game breaking bugs. It's bad even for a Bethesda release (though about what you'd expect from Obsidian.

The game play is essentially the same as Fallout 3. The faction system is really interesting though, and demands multiple play through's. Ignoring the bugs, the game is better than FO3.

Without mods, this game would be terrible. It should only be DLC, not a full game as they try to push it off as. Bethesda is like the rest of the gaming industry - lazy and rushing half - finished games out the door and then wondering why their sales are so lackluster.

Each of the main factions had ulterior motives, corruption unending, and spies in every corner, watching your every move. I finally had to uninstall when accepting(but not completing, or making any moves regarding) the quest with Yes Man caused all of Caesar's troops to go KOS to me. The game essentially forces you to choose almost unerringly choose a side, and none of the sides were particularly appealing. Additionally, none of the side quests were particularly appealing or rewarding. On the technical side, numerous glitches forced me to neurotically keep a bank of saves throughout the game. An early one caused me to restart, as I was glitched into a piece of terrain with no option for fast travel. An act as simple as opening a door would turn an entire faction KOS to me(though I suspect this may be working "as intended", I am optimistically listing it as a bug). I only had a few handfuls of crashing issues, but they were at critical moments, ofttimes. I was really prepared to give Obsidian the benefit of the doubt, after what they did with KotOR 2, but they have disappointed once again. I hope Bethesda doesn't take any notes from them for Fallout 4. Expand

However, the major issue that I have with this game is that it constantly crashes, freezes, stutters even with a decent gaming PC(i5 4690, R9 280). Even with heavy fixing (mods, patches, bugfixes to "fix" the crashing and freezing, looping issues) it still randomly crashes every half hour or so. Its really irritating.

Things I've done to help fix some bugs:
-Applied NVAC - New Vegas Anti Crash fix
    -Applied YUP (Yukichigai Unofficial Patch)
    -Turned off all autosave functions
    -Ran game as Admin (Win7)

After doing all above, the game STILL constantly freezes, loops and crashes randomly.

Load a save file directly from the "Load Game" in Main menu causes it to loop the loading screen indefinitely. The solution to it is to start a New game then load a save file from there.

New Vegas is really fun, Trust me, but the stability issues are so severe and its keeping me from loving the game.

Fallout is known for its open world, and massive branching story arcs. New Vegas is no different. The landscape is quite massive. Dialogue options are plentiful. The amount of perks and abilities is staggering. The amount of things you can loot and acquire is overwhelming. All these should point to a very deep and rich game experience, but there are problems.

With so much information, there needs to be a way for it to be organized in a way that doesn't make it a jumbled mess. And that's exactly where New Vegas falls short. After I progressed a good few hours into the game, my bag was full of goodies and random stuff. The weapon section alone was a jumbled mess. The chaotic amount of ammo and weapons are all mixed in the same category, making browsing to the weapon I want a very difficult task. There are no shortcuts whatsoever. Having to pull p the pip boy every 20 seconds breaks the pace of the game way too much. This adds onto the numerous times you need to pull it up to see quest objectives, and double check marker location, cause besides a marker on the main screen, there's absolutely no indication of how far away you are from the destination.

There were times when I wasn't sure if I should be approaching a certain area because there may be too many enemies, enemies who are way higher level than me, or random proximity mines on the ground. These all cause cheap deaths, which break the pace of the game. For this very reason, I found myself having to quick save constantly, which in itself was annoying.

There's no explanation for a lot of the effects that happen to you throughout the game. I'm getting radiation...ok, so what? What does radiation do to me? Oh, I'm losing good karma...ok, how does karma affect me? So many questions, but no answers, until I google it.

The game gives you all these perk choices at the very start of the game, but you have no idea what you need. How much charisma do I need? Will there be a lot of dialogue choices which takes advantage of that? How important is combat? Will there be situations which screw me over because I assigned only 1 point to strength? How important is perception? Will there be a lot of enemies in the hub world that I can't get past unless I have some perception? You have to guess all these things before you even set foot out the door. The most logical choice is to assign the points evenly, cause you no knowledge whatsoever of what to expect. You start to get an idea of what to expect after getting out of the first town, but you perks are already locked in at this point. Oops, you want to be a charismatic person and pass speech checks, but you only assigned 3 to speech? Too bad, slowly grind your way there.

Not knowing what was a main quest and what was a side quest was really annoying as well. I want to know who shot me in the f***ing head, but I could be following false leads because this guy promised me information, if I help him get this guy, but the guy I'm trying to get will tell me, if I help him with this. It's just quest-ception, on and on. But the final part of that mission, might not give me what I want to know, case the entire branch was a side quest. By the end of it, I'm scared to take on another mission, cause it might be a quest-ception of side quests. After 3 long branches of side quests, I'm so drained, I don't even care about who shot me in the head anymore, and just want to stop playing, or want the credits to roll.

I do love the freedom, and the story branches the game offers. It's truly remarkable how many ways you can play through this game. But all that is largely hindered by the lack of knowledge, and organization. Overall, the experience felt like a jumbled mess for the most part, but when things worked, it was amazing...which unfortunately was far and few in between.

Positives: Obsidian does a MUCH better job of writing story lines and quests than Bethesda did. Good voice acting. New environment and (slight) movement forward in terms of the Fallout canon. Negatives: Its still Oblivion (LOLblivion) with guns. As others have posted, you think they would've improved the game engine and graphics by now! The VATS system makes the game laughably easy and you can kite any enemy in the game. If you play the game without VATS, the NPCs dodge and weave like a weasel on crack all while maintaining pinpoint accuracy. Although the stories for each quest is better, the execution is still murky at best as one wrong dialogue choice cuts off entire quests. Certain quests are only offered under poorly designed circumstances with NPCs not reacting to successful completions or acting as if you DIDN"T just save their whole city from bad guys. Final analysis: Rushed out to market before true completion in a manner typical of Bethesda. This is essentially DLC for Fallout 3 that they tried (and failed) to pass off as a stand alone game. Although the fan boys, "independent reviewers" and paid Bethesda employees will seek to skew these rating sites, the proof is in the lackluster sales and general negative, poor opinion of Bethesda.

I loved fallout 3, but new vegas just seems old, dated, slow and boring. It is pretty much the same game just worse, or maybes fallout 3 wasn't really that good after all and when i was playing it i had nothing better to do. I don't know, all I know is this game is boring, I played it for a week then had no desire to play again. Such a shame.

Despite Obsidian's fan-service, Fallout: New Vegas is a heaping pile of bugs.

Fallout: New Vegas looks like an Add On to Fallout 3, but that should not mean, that it's a copy of its forerunner. It scores with an great atmosphere, nice story and all the typical and awesome Fallout features.
