Wasted opportunity, horrible lies from the devs and rushed game.

At least we still can mod New Vegas.

I've played Beta for 2 hours and now I spent 4 hours with a fully released game, not much but enough tho know if I like it or not.
    BAD:
    (1) The last version of Beta 1.0.0.6 and the released version are the same! They haven't even bothered fixing anything. So if you have played Beta, the released version will be exactly the same with all the bugs from Beta. (2) Lots of graphical bugs

    (2) Lots of graphical bugs
    (3) Poor performance on GTX 970 but playable on medium settings
    (4) Graphics feels like Fallout 4 with lots of post processing and more trees and grass
    (5) Story mode is lead through computers and holotapes, generally not very engaging, but is not bad
    (6) This is not a single player game, but can be played as a single player game. This is the biggest problem with this game, it's lack of defined identity doesn't help with understanding how to play it and what to do. This game want's to please hard core fans and new breed of players, but it doesn't do it well for either
    (7) The interface is designed for a console, not a PC and I've had lot's of problems with it
    (8) Base building was not my thing and in this game I just don't understand why I want to do that? There is no one raiding me, so why i need this? At least in Fortnite it makes sense, not in here - for now
    (9) The world without human NPC was supposed to make you feel desolated, but you don't. I feel like everyone is on vacation and left their pets and robots on the loose so they don;t starve
    GOOD:
    (1) The world map is really great with lots of things to visit, but I don't think it's as that big as some people claim. Starting locations are generally small, with no large industrial complexes, hopefully this changes later on
    (2) New weapons and items, crafting mechanism is well done and similar to Fallout 4
    (3) Hmm, I'm struggling to think of anything else
    FINAL THOUGHTS:
This game has a potential, but looking at the negativity around this game it reminds me Windows Vista and we know what happened there - you think it will get better with time. The game is not designed well and doesn't give any challenge. I don't want to play with other random players, PUBG already proved me this is a bad idea. I'll play it alone, but to be honest I'm already bored after 6 hours. I'm hoping the next patch will add a lot of new content and fix at least half of the bugs. I give you chance Bethesda like I did Windows Vista and I don't want to be disappointed again. Gladly I've purchased the game half price, I'd not pay full price for this product and this is why I give 5

I hope Bethesda will see the error of their ways and maybe add a massive DLC where a huge settlement of characters is located. I would have gladly waited a few extra years to get a traditional fallout game. I was playing a large mod for an older Fallout game yesterday. I felt fear, excitement, wonder, humor and I had to really think about what I was doing. You don't get that in 76. When I play Fallout 76 it is just "oh more wood to gather. I had better drink water." I don't hate the game but it really needs some human NPCs and a story to save it. Finding dead bodies gets old. If they are dead bodies why am I doing their bidding? It just doesn't add up. Expand

Fallout 76 is painfully mediocre. Basically a rehash of Fallout 4, but with an online feature. Along with bugs, far too easy difficulty, and a clearly unpolished multiplayer, I can't recommend picking this one up.

Fallout 76 is not the 1 out of 10(fan boys throwing a tantrum) nor the 10/10(Paid Shills) people that are giving it but it is an extremely, painfully mediocre game, a solid 5-6/10.

Pros - It's fallout, there's endless content and exploration. It's fun to just mess around with if you're just looking for a casual game to kill some time. The gunplay is fun and so is scavenging. Cons

Cons - It lacks all the character of a real fallout game while replacing it with nothing.
    -No non-robot NPCs, ZERO, NONE
-Quests are all given by holotapes or notes.
-Little to no interaction with others unless you have friends, might as well be solo player +1.
    -Typical fallout bugs
-Player Levels are almost meaningless except for equipping gear, I killed a lvl 40 mob at lvl 10.
-No real vendors or traders to unload loot, those that exist have very limited trade both buying and selling.
    -No Followers
    -No Main cities or hubs
    -No customization/mods

Honestly this game had potential, but it feels like some major corners were cut and it was released on a deadline rather than when it was complete. It just feels like a game in beta through and through. There is just not a single thing above average in this entire game while there is more than enough to complain about.

I would gladly pay $15 for this game, but $60 is too much which is why I'm asking for a refund.

I've always wanted an online Fallout game but not like this. I've never seen a game so bugged and glitchy like Fallout 76, whether it would be single player game or multiplayer. There's simply no excuse for launching a game like this from a huge developer and call it an AAA game.

After playing around 50 hours and reaching lvl 72 I found out there's no end-game content other than launching nukes. Which you can't really do as a single player because launch codes have 1 week expiration date (WAT!?).

Then there's PvP. Oh god, where do I start with PvP... Let's just say every single bit of it is broken and needs revamp,. Whether it's slap system which encourages griefing, wanted system that cuts you off from the rest of the players until one of them kills you, workshop where your own turrets start attacking you if you're wanted and where players can infinitely contest due to slap system, and finally Hunter/Hunted mode which has no cross-server matchmaking so good luck finding 4 players willing to PvP in a 20 player server. Only found 1 match in 5 days now.

I'm giving it a 5 and that's only because I love Fallout franchise and don't want it to die like Mass Effect: Andromeda did. I'd give half that in another case.

A Lot of the bugs from BETA have been "fixed" (if locking the FPS to 63 is fixing a seemingly large issues with game physics). That being said there are still plenty of bugs and glitches I have come across in my gameplay.

If you are a Fallout True Believer than you might get a few hour of enjoyment out of this game just because it adds some more lore and cool stuff to look at into the Fallout universe but anyone looking for a generally good gameplay experience and does not really identify with the Fallout brand will be sorely disappointed.

Now, This game is not a perfect game. Server Instability tends to be the worst issue I've had playing this game. I've run into the issue of being kicked out of various exploration places only to be placed outside again, still missing ammo and medical supplies, and having to start over. It's not a great feeling, but I never expected the launch of a huge game like this to be 100% Stable, and I've only run into two server crashes in my entire playtime. So it's annoying, but not awful.

The Textures are ripped straight out of Fallout 4, not really a bad thing, but save for a few texture differences on some enemies and items. It's very much Fallout 4.

The Biggest thing I think this game has going for it so far, is the environmental story telling, taking it slow and steady, you can get a feel of how some of these homesteads fell apart, and what some people's last moments might have been.

The Building does feel a little bit of a step down from Fallout 4, mostly because everything has to be connected to bases and walls, and clipping through other items isn't allowed. However, this is probably mostly just to do with the fact the camps can be moved whenever, and dropped into new zones, so the buildings sort of had to make sense. The camp also seems to spawn the items from the ground up, so having them connected makes sense. You can still make some whacky buildings though, it just takes building and removing foundations and messing with Ladders.

As of this review, the Stash Box you have, can only carry 400 lbs of stuff. Not 400 different items, 400 LBS of stuff, so its' like a stationary extra inventory slot, that eventually can be filled and not accept more items. This is somewhat aggravating for those who like to pick everything up and scrap stuff. But the developers also added a way to condense your materials down into lighter bulk loads if you have a tinkers bench and plastic.

The Perk Card systems fun to mix and match, though sometimes you'll just get unlucky and not get nice cards from your packs. This can slow down stuff a little, but if you keep at it, you'll get everything your wanting.

Overall, this is a pretty average game. I hope Bethesda continues to support it, so that they can make it better. So I'm giving it a 5/10. It's very Average, it' is fun though, and I'm hoping things improve from here.

The game's world and mood are very good. But this is a semi-finished game. There is a lot of work to be done to make a full game. It is full of confusing errors. If it is not repaired, it will be up to 6 months and end of this game. Disappointment. It's too expensive for it to be empty. The end game is not at all.

As for the gameplay, it is reasonably enjoyable, and more so if you have a dedicated group to play with (not necessarily friends). The story is quite uninspiring and should have been implemented in a more intriguing way rather than audio holotapes, terminal entries and "reply only" NPCs. It can still be enjoyed, but many will likely find it tiring and try to skip through or ignore some of the story queues, like i did on multiple occasions.
Combat is the same as Fallout 4 and is fun. It's nothing revolutionary, but it does the job.

Exploration is great as the map is filled with many interesting locations and beautiful environments to discover but can sometimes not feel very rewarding as some locations tend to be rather hollow, especially due to a lack of NPCs that are interesting.

The game feels quite empty with the 24 player limit per map, as it is very large, and many interactions with other players have been through meeting at the repetitive and lacklustre event quests that occur around the map. Even if I had a random encounter it seemed like many people were reluctant to team up, or were already part of another team. I personally think the player count should be doubled, and introduce better dispersed events to ensure that players don't congregate in specific locations for too long. This along with introducing a player hub of some kind, such as a city or the Whitesprings resort, could provide a way for players to meet, team up and even trade. It would be an excellent way to deal with the current common struggle of finding rare plans or getting rid of unwanted plans and items. This is in part due to NPC vendors having a money capacity of 200 caps per vendor faction. So a player would only be able to earn a specific amount of caps from NPC trading per day, but player trading is potentially endless.

As many have said, this is not a great "Fallout" game but it is still a decent multiplayer game, that needs still needs a lot of work. That being said, I personally don't think this game deserves this level of flak, but much of it is certainly warranted towards Bethesda. At its current state, it is not worth $60, however if Bethesda follows through with improving this game, I can see it become worthwhile. This game would have been a 6/10 had there not been so many bugs and performance issues.

It's fun exploring at first, but then things start to feel repetitive and without major faction NPC storylines distracting you, the repetativeness starts to stand out more than previous games. Other players in the game are meaningless as pvp is not enabled (they have to shoot you first before you can hurt them). Base building is bugged and you can lose hours of progress. Inventory is wayyyy too small, meaning after just a few pickups you have to go back to base to scrap. Plus your base storage chest can only take 400 weight. That's nothing!
You have to constantly switch perks if you want to min/max. That's pretty annoying too.
There is also not type to talk. the mic is always on, so good luck if you have a girlfriend or someone else talking in the background. They need to introduce press to talk.

I loved all the Fallout games and fallout DLC. This is the first game where I stopped playing after just 10 hours.

I advise people buy this in 6 months to 1 year, or wait for it to go on sale. By then the main bugs should be fixed. I honestly played more than just 10 hours when No Mans Sky got released.

In my opinion, FO76 should have never been pushed as a fallout game. It should have been pushed as a DOOM ONLINE game. Think about it. what other game/environment involves blindly moving around barren areas with no NPCs just to destroy hordes and hordes of enemies? What games story ultimately leads you to the endgame of defeating a huge boss that leads to rectifying some dire situation or saving the world from utter destruction? What game had virtually 0 NPC involvement other than possibly some small variants such mini bosses/etc (again-depends on what version you're talking about)? That's right....DOOM. Heres the thing though...DOOM was never pushed as something different. Everyone knew what DOOM was. it was a scary creepy storyline involving hordes of aliens from hell that were determined to destroy all humanity (or some varient-its changed slightly over the years).

I truly believe that this game was not about the "Fallout" story/lore/etc at all. This was a pilot attempt at creating DOOM ONLINE. The Fallout skins/snippets of story/etc was just an easy and convenient way for them to push this pilot onto the general public. Honestly-I'm fairly confident that Todd and the execs at bethesda do not care at all about this game tanking. They want to test the world and basic level features/functionality (ie-holotapes, dead npcs telling stories, etc) so that they can buildout DOOM to be the next gen online MMO.

    Pros;
I love the levelling and perk system. I find the multiplayer more engaging than in other multiplayer games of this kind. Everyone I have come across in game has been awesome to interact with and the emote wheel is great if you don't want or can't use voice, although it can be a little fiddly to use. I find the crafting system is also a lot easier to use then in Fallout 4 and this adds to my enjoyment I actually want to craft as opposed to Fallout 4 where I wanted to avoid it, in addition to this, I find base building better than Fallout 4. The ability to build and move it wherever you want is awesome. Also, it is much easier to do then in Fallout 4

    Cons;
The bugs and performance issues. I really hope these can be sorted out because it is taking away from my enjoyment. I would rate the game at about 7/10 if it were not for these. I find the questing very difficult as well. I get lost and sidetracked often and the lack of NPCs is very noticeable. The lack of content is not a con for me because there is enough here right now to tide me over until new content is released, as long as it is free.

If you are a fan of RPGs and have faith that Bethesda will continue to support this game, it is well worth your time but only for a sub $40 price because I believe that is what it is worth in its current state.

I encountered some bugs (although not as bad as I thought it would be or used to be), the first being my UI was invisible, my fps was capped at 72 and my controls never saved, all of those I managed to fix with some .ini edits.
The other bug I had was I lost everything I placed in my base half the time when I close the game which sort of killed any motivation to keep playing.

All of the Time I found myself on a significant below level to complete the quest.

I'm not going to complain about the launch bugs, because most of then have been fixed throughout the year, I'm just basing myself on my experience playing the game, it's really frustrating, don't know how my experience wold have changed If I played with friend but at this point I'm too disappointed to find out.

Really enjoyed Fallout 3 & Fallout 4 and had high expectations on Fallout 76 but unfortunately they got shattered.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to trust Bethesda on another game.

I think they deserve better score. The game was not playable at the beginning but they changed a lot of things since then and now its actually cool to play with friends. :)

I continue to try and like this game and can't. It is fun and exciting for the first week until you realize the gameplay loop is unchanging and very boring. You will have to visit the same places every day to farm plastic or metal to make ammo so you can farm plastic or metal to make ammo. As a fan of the Fallout series this was a huge disappointment. Very little to do in a huge map.

I played the game after its launch on steam with Westlander, it's ok but it could be better

My feelings about this game is OK. But its not really fallout. Its just commercial project of bethesda!

I tried to revisit this game after years of avoiding it and it was surprisingly "ok". I mean it's VERY flawed, unfinished and an obvious cash grab, but they somehow improved it.

It's playable, but that's the most I can give it. The atmosphere, soundtrack and visuals are nice, and that's it I'm afraid. Would have really preferred a better story, y'know, the things Fallout games are known

There just isn't much here. I played this for a few hours during the free week from 6/10/19-6/17/19. I'm a big fan of the series, but this just seems empty. I hoped that maybe after 7 months of work, the initial mistakes had been fixed.

Maybe they have? The game crashed once during my few hours with it, but that's something that Fallout 4 and Skyrim still do from time to time, long

Maybe they have? The game crashed once during my few hours with it, but that's something that Fallout 4 and Skyrim still do from time to time, long after official support has ended. I just don't know what's supposed to drive the player experience. There are no characters. The only story is one giant fetch quest. The game actively punished me for exploring how mechanics work before the story had drip fed me how to use them. There were meters that ticked down, and resting restores health *very* slowly, maybe 1% per second.

The end result was that this was a game that seemed to be all about busywork. I don't need that. I have a day job. I'm not really interested in spending 2% of my gaming time for the day watching my character sleep.

Fallout 76 represents a big disappointment and the lowest point of the series so far. Riddled with bugs, repetitive and dull gameplay, nonexistent story and outdated graphics, it fails as a both multiplayer and singleplayer experience for fans and newcomers alike.

Miracles do happen once in a while and No Man’s Sky proved that sometimes it is possible to get back on your feet even after a terrible failure. Right now though Fallout 76 is botched spectacularly on so many levels that even talking about this game is a waste of time. [01/2019, p.46]

An unfinished game with bifurcated identity and in an almost dysfunctional state. It's hard to build on a bad base, that will never change. Like the war. [Issue#292]
