Apr 10, 2018Extinction suffers from bad narrative, unnecessary missions and lack of general variety, but its fluid and fun mechanics and fantastic sense of movement, added to great visuals, creates a laudable product that we feel able to recommend.
-
Apr 10, 2018After a few hours it also shows a certain repetitiveness.
-
Apr 10, 2018Extinction lands in that awkward position where, yeah, it’s usually fun - but you’re not really missing anything incredible by giving it a pass.
-
Apr 10, 2018Extinction is a frustrating and repetitive game, that doesn’t reach its full potential. The idea is a good one, just not executed in the right way, with the focus on the wrong parts.
-
Apr 16, 2018Extinction is full of wasted potential, and while some ideas and gameplay mechanics might be interesting at first, almost none of them are executed properly. Good visuals and some platforming fun are all that Extinction can offer.
-
Games Master UKApr 19, 2018A whole lot of colour and fun, with big things to smash, but it becomes repetitive far too quickly. [May 2018, p.82]
-
Apr 10, 2018Impressive ogre battles and challenging, hectic missions, but I just wish there was a bit more to Extinction.
-
Game World Navigator MagazineJun 8, 2018Two-minute trailer of Extinction that shows an epic battle against a giant ogre might make you interested in the game, but the thing is – if you’ve seen it, you’ve seen everything the game has to offer. Literally. [Issue#230, p.64]
-
Apr 29, 2018For two hours, hunting Titans is fun, then monotony takes over due to similar fights and uninspired tasks.
-
Jun 3, 2018Great art direction and smooth combat show a desire to do well. Although the overall lack of control and the redundant experience can't save Extinction.
-
Apr 11, 2018Boring, tedious but somewhat attractive, this would be better as a tech demo or half-priced game but certainly does not work as a full priced title. Unfortunate.
-
Apr 24, 2018Extinction is a poor action game with a too simple combat system, a deficient camera system, and a terrible and repetitive mission design.
-
Apr 13, 2018It’s baffling that Iron Galaxy priced Extinction as an AAA game. Suffice to say that after we completed the first 3-4 levels we essentially saw everything the game had to offer in terms of environments and combat systems.
-
Apr 10, 2018Extinction might seem fun in the first few minutes, and the combat system might keep you around for a while. But what really frustrates, is the narrow scope of the game, where you do the same things over, and over, and over; killing trolls, killing trolls, and saving civilians and the city by killing trolls.
-
Apr 9, 2018Extinction shoots itself in the foot time and time again. It's so frustrating to see its good ideas buried under repetitive missions, a forgettable story, and embarrassing production values for its AAA price.
-
Apr 9, 2018Extinction never opens up the way it's clearly supposed to, instead falling into a repetition that makes the game feel every bit as stale as its story concept.
-
Edge MagazineApr 26, 2018Extinction is mindless, soulless stuff, and a huge disappointment from a reputable studio. [June 2018, p.116]
-
Apr 13, 2018Extinction simply requires you to kill giants over and over again. Besides that, the game offers almost nothing.

-
Apr 9, 2018It feels like a frustrating proof of concept, unworthy of its evocative title...a good idea poorly executed over and over again.
-
Apr 11, 2018An absolute horror show of a game and I cannot recommend anybody buy it or even accept it for free.
