It's a 10, definitely. and yes there are bugs, but the devs are clearly working hard hard to get them squashed, and are doing a great job of helping people. So buggy game but still a 10? Yes, because I couldn't just leave the game for 5 days and wait until the bugs were taken care of. Once I started the game I HAD to play -just a little bit more, and a little bit more ....

As you would expect in a game from these devs, it is solid game design, it is excellent writing, it is truely glorious music. The characters have .. character (!) and the story is engaging with choice and consequense. This is a great game, and will be fantastic in a week when it's been patched a bit more.

This is quite a traditional RPG that went under the radar and got a lot less attention than it deserved. Logic Artists clearly took a lot of influence from Fallout 1 and 2 -- time limits, map-view travel and everything.

The Danes really did an ace job with the historical setting, quests, music, visuals and pacing, which always felt even and high quality. They also added a non-lethal

The Danes really did an ace job with the historical setting, quests, music, visuals and pacing, which always felt even and high quality. They also added a non-lethal toggle to combat, which was probably one of the best ideas in the game, due to how they often acknowledged that you didn't kill certain characters in dialogue and quest outcomes even if you had the option to do so.
Overall I think the game is really well rounded, not lacking in very many aspects other than a under-cooked travel/camping system and a somewhat scuffed leveling and skill point system. It's a deeply engrossing game with a few quirks that don't detract from its charms.

This is an amazing game. I still can't believe how well-made this is for an indie studio. The amount of detail and polish is just impressive. The game looks beautiful - both the environments and characters are very pleasant to look at. The combat is smooth, informative, tactical and fun! The setting, characters and story work well together and I'm genuinely interested to play more of it. IThis is an amazing game. I still can't believe how well-made this is for an indie studio. Also, I can't stress enough how good the user interface for dialog is. In a lot of text-heavy games, the dialog box becomes cluttered and because of that reading becomes boring or tedious. That is not the case in Expeditions: Viking! All the text is neatly formatted and color-coded and all the choices are numbered! The reading in this is just pure joy. I love it!

Great historical fiction. Went into this game with literally no expectations, I haven't played expeditions: conquistador but I am a fan of the CRPG genre. Pleasantly surprised. The max difficulty is just right, not too tedious, on the easier side but still good. Expand

For those of you who don't know about V:E, it's a turn based isometric RPG.
Still only a few hours in but I like it so far. Characters are fun. The game is very polished in most places, but there are a few spots that could use a bit of work (camping, map transitions come to mind).
All in all well worth the money, and I look forward to playing more and to what else this up and coming developer can bring!
    Great atmosphere.
    Great gameplay.
    Fun dialogue and characters.
Story still in progress- I'll try to get an update here.

Pure awesomeness. Bugs will be squashed and forgotten and only true love for RPG's will be there. I already want a sequel/new game in series. Characters are nice, choices are nice, changes to overland travel are welcome. Cheers, Logic Artists, you deserve all the praise you get. And screw those critics, we all know they are being bought by the hundreds and only user score truly matters.

Waited a bit until most bugs were sorted out. With patch 1.04 I consider the game in a quite good state now.

Considering the game itself it has become my favourite rpg this year. I played (or well at least tried out) practically all western crpgs since the days of Baldur's Gate and this game here has been the first this year, which managed to get me really invested in it's world

I would recommend that game to anyone who likes games like Baldur's Gate, Pillars of Eternity or the new Wasteland games.

This game was seriously under rated by the critics. It is one of the best RPG I’ve played - I just hope we get an expansion. This is a great game.

very solid effort from a small indie developer. Addictive, with RPG and tactical turn based combat.
Very refined experience, now with very few bugs. Excellent music score. Interesting historical period. I definitely recommend this game

    This is a TRUE RPG.
Since the very first moments in the game you already feel like you are living in that world thanks to the many choices and many outcomes (like in the duel with Asleifr)
You can be who you want to be: a viking that raids monasteries, a trader or even an ally of the people of England. (It's true the game had few bugs at launch but now Logic Artists fixed everything

Expeditions: Viking is a brilliant RPG that deserves more love so it's a 10 for me!

We have a lack of good RPGs in historical setting. This game is totally amazing. The story is thrilling, I had tears in my eyes a few times, atmosphere of dying pogan world is overpowering. And the music by Knut Avenstroup Haugen (composer of the Age of Conan, Conan Exiles and Lords of the Fallen) is tottally stuning, the best you can imagine!

Viking isn't the most refined game, with limited camera control, repetitive graphics that lack detail, and a lack of high-production presentation. It nevertheless succeeds in immersing the player in its world through an intriguing main story focused on local politics and motivations and driven by realistic struggles and constraints. Viking effectively impresses upon the player its main themes about the illusion of choice and the binding chains of circumstance, and also offers a multitude of poignant side-stories and strong character development. To top it off, the game features a unique combination of combat mechanics and abilities that allow creativity and enable some very interesting and satisfying strategies, as well as a novel take in timed and deliberate progress and out-of-combat party maintenance. Players looking to take part in a realistic and historically-inspired world with an engaging politically-driven story should look past the game's lack of technical polish and definitely pick up Expeditions: Viking.

Expeditions: Viking could have been wonderful. I love its strategic combat layered atop a real world setting that hints at the fantastical without ever crossing the line. It has intriguing moral choices that aren’t afraid to shy away from making the player pick between equally terrible outcomes, and it flirts with making the player both warrior and politician. I could have overlooked the timer and the lack of information, but what I couldn’t overlook is that in its current state, the game is outright unplayable.

Solid and funny RPG with great turn based combat, and above all, great freedom in choices. And you can plunder monasteries too!
