Expeditions: Rome has absolutely everything a good RPG needs to succeed. His narrative, rhythmic and interesting as if it were the best Rome’s Empire novel, immerses you fully in his story. Thanks to the system of morality of our companions and their different paths to travel, every decision matters. Turn-based combat is vibrant, vertical, and challenging, while camp and resource management, as well as the crafting system for new equipment, ensure that time flies. As the only 'but', it would have been appreciated if the battles with the legion were somewhat less predictable. An excellent game for RPG and History lovers. [Recommended]
  2. For all these little improvements, though, the time-honoured pursuit of watching a party of adventurers sprint across a map at a snail’s pace has been left untouched. And I know this might seem like a petty thing to complain about, but I’m dead serious. As I’ve stressed, between its surprising and inventive level design, its genuinely compelling character writing, and its various interlocked secondary games, Expeditions: Rome keeps you in a constant state of looking forward to what comes next. And unavoidably, that excitement dampens fast when you’re just sitting there waiting for people to move across a map.

Viking was a good game but Rome makes a huge step forward in almost every game system.

This review contains spoilers, click full review link to view. Expeditions Rome is a singularly well written and designed game. There is a richness and a depth to the story and the characters that is rare in games, but that I have come to expect from the Logic Artist team.
I especially like that the choices you make in the game has consequenses, that carries all through the game (and at least once the consequenses can be fatal for your companions) It shows that the devs have respect for the players.
