If you like games like the original Elite and want a new version with deeper game play, stunning visuals, and an epic scale then this is for you! There's plenty to keep you occupied and in it for the long haul. Also, as of today the full story line kicks in, so I'm expecting loads more content and opportunities for earning extra credits.

The learning curve can be quite steep, and progress can be slow but this is all expected with a truly great and immersive game such as Elite. You've really got to work towards your achievements, which I as a really positive thing because you really feel like you've earned it!

My recommendation is to buy, play and keep with it. It's been one of the most rewarding gaming experiences I've ever had.

Elite is back! New, upgraded and shiny but at the core it's still Elite - you, your ship and the universe of possibilities.

The foundation is very solid and it can get only better with the promised development after release that will continue to expand the base of the game while also working on major expansions like planetary landings and first person.

The latest fixes during Beta and Gamma have done an excellent job to improve the stability and overall balance of the game. Trading is finally fixed and logical again, combat feels great. No issues with the netcode (for me) and overall an excellent experience. Mind though - this game isn't easy and doesn't hold your hand - your actions have consequences and there is no magic immunity nets. Live fast, die hard!

In addition, Frontier Developments have shown to be a great company, constantly hearing and answering their customers and changing the game to suit people's requests. Many times features or fixes requested in the forums have "magically" appeared in the game showing that the guys at Frontier actually do really care about our opinions - this also corroborated by some of the senior Frontier staff frequently posting and engaging in debates and clarifications with the players.

Not a good game right now. Pretty graphics, great sound design, and barely any gameplay. You will exhaust all it's possibilities in one day.

Multiplayer interaction is close to nil despite always online DRM.

It's a game made for old people who hasn't played anything but Farmville since 1984. They consider it a "hardcore space sim". It's sad what a waste of potential this game is.

If you want a game that tells you what to do and when, this is not the game for you. If you want a insanely massive playground, where you can pretty much do what you want, this is it.

As of update 2.07 (1 day prior to launch) this is the game I have been waiting for since 1984. Been playing Since Beta and enjoyed every day I have played, and seen ED become what it is today. As ED matures in time its going to be one of the best space games in the last 30 years :)

As it now stands, Elite Dangerous is a game shell. Flying is nice, graphics are very good. Everything else is borked. Trading is buggd to the teeth, mining is just a minigame where you pewpew at asteroids and have to manually fetch hundreds of asteroid bits. Exploration is just pushing a button and flybys on planets.
Moreso, Frontier Developments have shown during beta that they aren't

First minute the game takes your breath away and then it entertains you for another couple of hours to end up like a meditative tool for hard working individuals. What a waste and shame for a game in such beautiful environment. [Issue#253]

Everyone who played the original game back in the 80's, should be right at home. It's the 21st Century version of "Elite." But newer, uninitiated players may find it strangely desolate and repetitive. A grand space simulation, aimed at the series' hardcore fans.

You can focus on the journey, not the destination – even when some "road work" signs will bother you for the time being in the reincarnated Elite. But their numbers are declining with every new update so a thirty-year-old vision becomes more and more complete.
