I absolutely love the presentation. The pixel art is amazing, the backgrounds are awesome, the effects are good. It's a shame that the game itself just isn't very good. Characters talk to you too often for too long, with nothing important really being said. I played for about 2 hours and maybe 15 minutes of that was actual gameplay. But even then the gameplay isn't that good. Controls are floaty and slow to respond. You get potions saying they heal 500hp yet your health bar doesn't even show your HP, you have to pause and go into a menu for that. The gameplay loop is very tedious. Get a quest, go 1/3 of the way into an area to finish it, come back out. Get the next quest, go 2/3 of the way into the same area you just did, come back out. And you guessed it, for the next quest, you finally get to go all the way to the end of the area and fight a boss. Expand

Hundred Heroes is still a year away and while you wait for it you can play action-packed Rising and learn all about its world and the characters.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising offers easy fun. It may be simple, but it works, and even if you go back to the same areas a lot of times, it doesn't get boring.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a fair stab at bringing something for the fans, a game that did not have enough time to be fleshed out, so had to bulk the journey out with its stamp collection, but overall, it’s a fair game, nothing too good or bad, just a game that I did enjoy for the most part, but tries to hinder that enjoyment with some questionable and generic quest padding.
