If you're looking for a post apocalyptic zombie survival game that includes a memorable story or interesting characters then this is not the game for you. But if you're fine with a linear story line and the most cliché character's then this game will satisfy you for awhile. This fun but repetitive game will definitely be classified as the "Hate" or "Like" game.

Trailer is awesome, but that's pretty much it. Really shotty controls and constant crashes even after downloading a patch. Do yourself a favor and wait for the game to be out for a year before you decide to be a beta tester on an already launched game.

Game for Linux? Not working. Multiplayer? Not working. Updates? Crashing game. Open world? Same buildings all the time. Zombies? Yes but they can outrun you. This game should be sold for 1/8 price to be rated good.

    Thats why this game suck.

Killing zombies so much fun but versus mode sucks !!! people can see you with their instinct while you are a zombie they are coming after you to hunt you you can't even understand who is the hunter zombies or people beside all of this poor story it is like always forcing you to collect something.Scary zombies and nights, nice looting and crafting system, nice map design.

My review is only based on the single player component. I am sure there are players that do not always want to play online, so this is for you. Music is great, world can be tense. Gameplay is fun in the very beginning, but gets dull very quickly. Story is average at best. If you like zombie hack and slash games, this is for you.

Story doesn't sounds like it is something special and to be honest it isn't. Story is the biggest problem of this game. Characters are shallow, empty and indescribable fake. There's a lot of clichés - stupid, making no sense scenes or speeches.
What about the gameplay? This is what defends this game and give a reason to buy this title. Amazing parkour mechanics in open world games is awesome. Jumping on the buildings, climbing on the walls, or jumping over the zobmies with parkour tricks. It's just feel amazing. Fight is pretty good too - hitting enemies makes me belive that weapon i'm using has weight - pushing enemies back or stop on them. To bad shooting wasn't made good as melee fighting.

The game has great graphics but the gameplay and the storyline didn't quite grab me. The zombie AI was not good and being able to vault around from building top to building top was a bit too much like being a superhero. Not challenging.

I found the game a bit 'meh' to be honest. I appreciate it's meant to be realistic, but it can be so frustrating how hard it is to kill zombies if you haven't got strong weapons! I wasn't bowled over by the storyline, or side missions, or the time trial runs. It's a shame because I really tried to like this game and get sucked into it... but it just didn't happen.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Story

The Story of Dying Light starts promising. You are an agent of the GRE (Global Relief Effort) send into the zombie infected city of Harran to find a culprit. Said culprit wants to make data public, that would harm the GRE. Some tasks later you start to distrust the GRE yourself due to some commands they give you and due to the fact, that they stop airdropping Antizin, a medic to slow down the zombie transformation, Sadly, the story has a plot hole regarding said Antizin as well as an unsatisfying ending, which destroyed the whole fun I had before.

There are three showdowns in the game. The first is great with good story telling and a good sense of challenge, but the second and third are unsatisfying. The last one is even a quick time event "fight" and this is the only instance within the game, where a QTE is used.

    Gameplay & Combat

The parkour styled movement is very good and brings a lot of fun into the game. But I do not understand, how they could build such a good experience with the parkour but climbing buildings or sometimes pipes feels uncontrollable and you die a lot.

Most zombies are brainless enemies which will attack due to sight and or noise. They will try to bite, throw their primitive weapons and hit with their arms. But after those standard enemies there are also more intelligent zombies that can climb and will hunt you down even when you try to run away. They can also avoid your attacks. There are some special zombie types like a brute, an exploding one and a charger with special abilities to mix up the experience even more.

Next to zombies, there are bandits. They will try to circle you and they can evade and parry your hits. One thing I don't like about their parry skill is, that they can flawlessly parry arrows and throwing objects which is just stupid unrealistic.

    Skill system

The skill system levels three specs through usage. Survival, combat and movement. You will get survival points for quests in general and for combat without dying. But if you die, you will lose a significant amount of survival points. For combat points, the player has to hit and kill enemies and movement will level through climbing and parkour.

Each tree has passive and active skills regarding the overall theme of the said spec. In the survival tree, you can upgrade your inventory slots, learn new crafting recipes and strengthen your barter skills. In combat you will learn active movements to kick enemies or smash the head of a grounded zombie. In movement there are skills for escaping zombies and to upgrade your stamina for longer running. Even though the trees look like you have choices to make, there are a maximum of two skills per tree with the same level requirement, so it's just a linear skill progression with pseudo choices.

The stealth skill combination is too strong to me honest. You have to kill just one zombie, smear the blood on yourself and then you can fast kill every human height zombie without a problem.

As soon as you hit the maximum in one of the three trees, all extra experience will be added to a legendary rank. For each level of this "meta level", you can add a passive damage bonus to one weapon type or upgrade your stamina or life points. The idea of the legendary system is ok, but you will start leveling the legendary after finishing all quests and honestly, why stick in a game without content but a meta level without additional benefits?

    Crafting & Upgrading

The crafting system is just perfect. There are lots of plans to enhance a weapon with some effects and enhance their damage. Then there is the need of crafting material, which can be found through scavenging through houses and a base weapon. All melee weapons have durability and repair charges. As soon as the durability is down, you can repair the weapon but as soon as all your repair charges are used, the weapon is useless. Through this mechanic, you'll have to think, which weapon to upgrade with a rare crafting because it will be used up some time later.

Each weapon has also slots for additional upgrades. Those upgrade can only be found while playing or may be rewarded through side quests. They enhance damage, handling and durability of the weapons.

    Day & Night Cycle

There are zombies, which will avoid the sun. But as soon as it's getting dark, they will hunt every soul. Playing through the night is terrifying, even with good equipment and it will stress your parkour skills to a maximum. But getting out in the night will be rewarded with double experience on your skill progression. It's a gamble, but it is worth it.

Dying light has terrible optimization of CPU usage. Pretty much all CPUs in existence can't handle it so any high-end GPU gets bottle-necked. You can't squeeze more than 60 FPS out of it with any hardware, when high-end GPUs could potentially run it at 120 FPS without CPU bottleneck.

Story is meh. Nothing that interesting but enough to keep you in the game. Characters are generic.

Atmosphere and location is also interesting but I prefer beaches and jungles.

Now for the problems I can't ignore:

When you exit the game instead of dropping where you left, it left you where last tracked objectives is. You always need to select objective that is close to where you want to be. No manual save system.

Virals are annoying as **** Game is telling you they only spawn if you make so much sound but they spawn no matter what you do. You run past bomber without even noticing, stupid virals spawn and quickly deplete your health.

You can't actually clear a certain area. They keep coming but they don't stop coming.

Guns are not powerful enough. Look I get it, this is melee focused game but I expect enemy to die if I shoot a basic zombie with shotgun in point blank range. Grenades are weak too. Both against zombies and humans.

    Limited weapon repairs.

Interactive object colors are too gray. It is hard to notice what is interactable and what is not.

You have to scroll all the way down to craft some things and game just tells you "you can craft a new item" without even telling what that item is.

Even if you are high level the items that come from chests and police vans are insulting.

Overall not a bad game but nothing too special. I had more fun with dead island.

they are doing literally every single thing in their power to make the game less fun, less interactive, slower, more limited, and more frustrating. who decided that's what anyone wants in an open world title? as i play it becomes more and more obvious that the reason we are so restricted in our gameplay is because they simply did not want to build a fleshed out or interactive world. it might be kinda big, i can't tell, but there's nothing to do, and you will walk past objectives on a regular basis because the game just refuses to show you where you are supposed to go. that lack of direction appears to be an entirely unintentional bug, which is ridiculous given that navigation is such an essential part of the gameplay loop.

pepper in some extremely boring obligatory cutscenes that you have to press B 10000 times in a row to skip, and oh, make sure to put all of the things you need to interact with to change your gear in the absolute furthest locations from each other possible. the game can't even decide whether im allowed to walk faster than 1mph half the time, and it's terribly unintuitive.

everyone complains about the film grain effect: it's awful, it's a ridiculous waste of the graphical requirements to just wash everything out until there's no detail left. well guess what? they added an option to turn it off in the settings! guess what else? that setting does not do anything! bravo, you hacks.

Dying Light presents a clear disparity with what it wants to be and what it actually is. This proves to be the spiritual successor to Dead Island's greatest weakness,Dying Light presents a clear disparity with what it wants to be and what it actually is. On one hand, the game wants to be treated like a serious, mature story set in an unexplored setting engaged with the zombie apocalypse yet manages to hit almost every zombie cliché that I started to wonder if it was satire. This proves to be the spiritual successor to Dead Island's greatest weakness, which is a rather uninspired plot that hardly picks up the pace until the last fifth of the game. This hardly distracts to what I would consider one of the best sandboxes I have had the pleasure of spending the zombie outbreak, killing zombies with electrified cricket bats while traversing city blocks via grappling hook. The gameplay is well balanced and is complemented with a deep progression system which has an immediate effect in gameplay rather than it being passively mundane.

The visuals, without a doubt, are stunning. The city of Harran where the game takes place is well realized and is accentuated with great details and superior lighting effects. Speaking of effects, the day-night cycle, which is Dying Light's biggest draw, works very well with night time being a rewarding, yet terrifying venture when Volatile zombies chase you in the dark streets. The combat system, while being relatively simple, is made all the more satisfying with every crunch and splatter of zombie limbs being well realized. Another well realized feature is the parkour mechanic, which I have to say is actually among the best among first person games, even passing Mirror's Edge. It's forgiving, yet still makes your heart race given how many zombies are able to chase you through the rooftops.

The one thing I loved most is the music, its techno synth reminds me of John Carpenter's soundtracks and that's always a good thing. It's subtle and appears in the right moments. These upsides do not downplay the aforementioned last fifth of the game, which is a tense, exciting dash towards the ending which tests all your skills and has proper buildup unlike the rest of the story, which is drowned with below average acting and poorly written characters. At one point, a certain character death triggers an unnecessary drug induced sequence which really goes nowhere and evokes no real emotion. The sidequests are very good though, with them being multi-staged quests that continue later on rather than them being one and done on the spot sidequests.

Dying Light is a major step up from the Dead Island games in almost every department except storytelling, which at this point should just go satirical rather than serious, macho undertones. Other than that, Dying Light is an amazingly fun game to play with yourself or friends that has strong foundations in game design and is a step in the right direction for Techland and shows great promise in a genre that is seemingly saturated.

They are loud (zombies will get you) and do less damage later on...that makes the game still kinda challenging over the whole game.Worst story I finished in a game...so why DID I finish it? His decisions are lacking any reasons the whole game long. He has no empathy at all and I yelled more than once "just shut up!".

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've been playing DL for 20 hours now (ONLY SINGLEPLAYER) and here are my impressions of it so far. However, first of all I want to say that I did not play any of the Dead Island games, which according to some people were used as a base game for DL. I can neither confirm nor deplete it.

Warning: Contains spoilers! Trying to avoid them as far as possible.

You are thrown into the game - [spoiler] literally, since you parachute down into the city of Harran as a part of an infiltration mission [SPOILER END] - and at first the characters you encounter seem not as believable as you wished for. This is resolved as you get settled with the game and its central characters while you finish the first two or three objectives. To add to the RPG character of the game, there are main and side quest, which play well into the story line and motivate the player in different ways. For example, there are not that many "fetch quests" as in mere RPGs.
Motivation comes from all sides: You find a vast amount of loot. Loot of the "crafting", "valuables" and "consumables" family can be collected to infinity, which I found very nice and rewarding. You need this stuff to craft or to heal yourself almost all the time. Weapon pickups have a restriction in amount, which can be expanded through skills.
Let's talk about crafting first. You've seen it before in games like DayZ, How to Survive or similar RPGs. Where some do it unnecessarily complicated or just plain stupid, this game hits the spot! You have your basics (lockpicks, medikids, molotovs, etc) and you can either find or get blueprints as a reward from quests or random events (saving survivors, eliminating patrols) in the city of Harran. There also is a lockpick "minigame" every time you come across a closed door or crate, which gets boring really quick. They could've just put in a XP system for that, too (like in the Elder Scrolls series), so you have an easier time with locks. Since you can gather as much craftable stuff as you want, you will not be restricted by that and you will be able to have collected much stuff by the time you actually need it. The game focuses on melee combat, which is not a bad thing. This only means that you would like to use melee weapons for a great amount of reasons (loud noise lures dangerous types of zombies, ammo is usually scarce or buyable at certain shops, etc) prior to ranged weapons. This is why the game focuses on letting you modify close combat weapons - with blueprints AND certain buff items which fit in sockets (much like in Diablo II). Unfortunately, on low levels this is not profitable, since your weapons waste away like butter. I am talking about 10-15 zombie kills until you have to repair your weapon (very annoying!) which depletes "repair points" (usually between 2 and 4) every time unless you level up.
This brings me to the skill tree, which is separated in three mayor experience trees:
    1) Survivor score (points through quests, etc)
    2) Fighting score (obvious)
    3) Agility score (running, jumping, etc)
Every tree has an own skill asset and you skill them separately, which I'd call quite innovative. As you progress, fighting gets much easier, you find your way running around Harran much more comfortable and you get certain perks being a great survivor. I am not going to get much into detail, but it has to be said that you have a great amount of freedom leveling up. This is an additional motivation to actually do all three things mentioned above.
Lastly, I want to address another amazing thing, which is the day- night cycle. Yawn, right? No! Because at day, there are only four kinds of zombies you encounter with different difficulty/threat levels, where at night both your and their skills double and you encounter more special zombies, which you better run from instead of fighting. Alternatively, you can scare them off (they are sensible to UV light) or mask yourself (again, level up before). Also, you earn double the XP at night for ANYTHING you do and there is so much more to it.
One mayor letdown is, that after 18-20 hours into the game, it seems to crash rather randomly, which you apparently can only resolve (WARNING: it worked for me and a couple other people!) by cranking down your resolution a notch. You might not encounter this problem, though.
All this leaves me with a rating of about 8/10. I think, in some ways this game could be the pattern for multiplayer survival games.

Its parkour is very unique and has a leveling up system which you can use to unlock new abilities by getting skill points. Through the game, you can find items and use them to craft different weapons like molotovs and throwing stars. It is a truly Amazing game that stands out among other zombie games. It is probably one of the BEST zombie gammes to date!

Even though this is in my list of best games of 2015 this video game has many cliches at a point where is unoriginal, but the parkour made me forget all of the bad things because its really really fun to do and it kills time while traveling place to place. The only thing I did not like about this game was the ending. Other than that, amazing game to play on a brand new rig setup I built a few months ago. Just amazing visuals, great controls, and a good time.

Disappointed as I was with the original Dead Island, I did not buy Riptide and I was even turned off of Dying Light initially. Oddly enough, It did actually have a pre-release demo, though it committed the cardinal sin of being of timed duration. Also unfortunately, it prominently displays the game's weakest element- low-level melee combat, before you acquire the various showy moves and weapons that don't amount to more then an actual broken ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ table leg.

Combat continues to be a bit of a chore even into the late game, unless you decide to use a gun. There is a particular type of large, muscular zombie called a Demolisher that duffs you over with similar ease to Dead Island's Thug zombies, and its no less irritating each time it happens. Attempting to melee them is suicidal at best, but you could instead just throw a sickle at their face and they go down like any other zombie. Really, there's no balance to be had. Avoiding the zombies is actually more entertaining then fighting them off: with investment in skills, you can learn to ramp up and over a zombie's head, crash through them like a rampaging football player, and execute a flying double kick to their faces.

Do not play Dying Light alone, at least initially. The early game hell is strong and without a better equipped player backing you up, the experience is much like Dead Island: boring, cheap, and uncompromising. It is a cooperative game and should be played as such, the more the merrier. It actually suffers in one respect as compared to Dead Island, which had four different playable characters with varying abilities, wherein this game everyone plays the same guy, Kyle Crane. Admittedly his skill tree is excellent and you can obtain all abilities available, but he is otherwise generic fuzz-faced white male protagonist #87, and a bit whiny, besides. Roger Craig's Smith work as Chris Redfield is enjoyable primarily because Resident Evil is ♥♥♥♥ing ridiculous and it fits. But Dying Light is ostensibly a serious game, and he comes off as rather forced and unbelievable when Crane is trying to be emotional. The game's writing over all is very weak, offering little narrative payoff and constant depressing disappointment at every turn- as per standard for the zombie survival genre.

Most people who play this probably wouldn't give a ♥♥♥♥, but if a game has a plot, I follow that plot. Where Dying Light shines, however, is the much advertised parkour elements. Moving through the urban sprawl of Harran is simple, smooth and enjoyable, unlike, say, Brink. You eventually earn a grappling hook that can be used to pull you directly to ledges and other surfaces, physics be damned, though there is a persistent issue with being able to grapple onto ledges you can't actually grab afterwards, sending you plummeting helplessly to the uncaring ground below. I think I might actually have died more often from falling damage then from any enemies, in spite of a tuck-and-roll maneuver you can use to avoid damage from a long, but non-fatal fall. Too bad most of my falls were longer.

Game flow is open ended, with a generous helping of boxes to open, side quests, challenges, and small dungeons in the form of quarantine zones scattered about the game's two major zones, the slums and old town, with the latter having much taller buildings and things like tall streetlamps and telephone wires to let you flex your parkour skills. The challenges are predictably annoying, proving themselves once more the zit on the face of sandbox action games, with extremely tight time limits and paltry rewards of experience points. There are occasional new blueprints to be had for the game's tastefully simple crafting system from them though, which involves strapping things like nails, electrical wiring and lighters to anything from a fence board to a machete to a medieval warhammer, to make them deadlier. You can make firecrackers, shuriken, medkits, grenades and bunch of other things, besides.

Overall, the game is substantially less dense then Dead Island, but is largely better for it. It plays better and runs better, too. I passed the game up on release a year ago, and picked up the game for $20 at the suggestion of a friend and I was not disappointed, though I can say with certainty that Techland has a long way to go yet. I expect bigger things from them in the future.

    Good night, and good luck.

Misiones secundarias a dolor, etc....

Recomendado

The game also did very badly in explaining the back story of the world and its people. Not to mention near the end game, it make me feel like the game is kind of unfinished. Next, the parkour, this is the area that the game really shine. You will enjoy running and jumping around the map. Now that I mentioned the map, it is a bit too homogeneous and not big enough in my opinion. I know things are kind of happening in the same town, but a bit more variety will be nice. Now, the combat system, I kind of like the combat in this game due to its simplicity and fluidity. Some might find it a bit shallow though. Finally, weapon and crafting, There are indeed many weapons in this game, but I feel like they are (again) too homogeneous (including the crafting which almost feel like an addition to stat, that's all). There are many more items the game could add and I am sure the dev could play around more with the crafting (but they did not). Overall, this is an enjoyable game. It can get a bit repetitive sometime and then feel too rush. I did not have high expectation to begin with as I got it on a discount. Therefore, get this game on discount if you like parkour and also want to kill zombies, but do not expect to find epic story here.

I absolutely love this game, most of It at least. The parkour is great, the little shooting you do also, but the melee is on a whole another level. Problaby my favorite zombie game ever. If I needed to point something negative about would be It's weak story and characters, the dialog is so annoying I skiped most of It.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Shadow of the tomb raider. Expand

I got this game out of a gift from my friends during my birthday, and I never played this game at all.

The gameplay is very good, the zombies are fun to battle and easy to get a hang of. Techland did the parkour mechanic perfect, the animations were created very realistic. The way how you unlock skills is very rewarding, like that moment where you maximize a skill and the game says:

The gameplay is very good, the zombies are fun to battle and easy to get a hang of. Techland did the parkour mechanic perfect, the animations were created very realistic. The way how you unlock skills is very rewarding, like that moment where you maximize a skill and the game says: "Congratulations! You now cannot get tired and kill enemies pretty quickly!" It makes you feel good.

The items in the game are pretty unique, each item has something useful. You find a household supply then you think that this is pretty useless, but the game reminds you that you found something for a exquisite modified knife. But they are not unlimited, Imagine you spent countless hours trying to find a Toxic Lichen or trying to kill a Bolter to create a powerful weapon, only then to use it for 30 minutes for it to break and not be able to use it. You then look at yourself and say "I just spent 5 days trying to craft that weapon, for me to only use it for 30 minutes." It is a bad mechanic for me, because I am usually that more expectated person, who uses an item for almost a year.

The enemies in the game are sometimes diffucult, I had to search up in YouTube at least 10 times trying to kill one of them, only to find out that you just need to put the enemy into a wall or hit him in the back. But soon I know how to beat the enemies without using help, So it takes awhile of discovery for it's weakness, and then you beat the enemy in under 10 seconds.

The story is great, with Dying Light's moments being memorable, how killing Rais is satisfying, finally killing that bastard who killed your friends, the people who helped you along the way only then for them to be killed by Rais. The story definitely deserved a cliffhanger, Crane decided that the GRE could just **** off and instead help the people who are in the city.

The world design is great, with Survivor Sense you can explore buildings, and having that Half-Life 2 level design that Half-Life was known for. And i loved these, and I never intended to just use help. I wanted to solve it on my own.

What makes the game great is due to it's huge compassion and love for the game, although the visuals looks like they came from 2013-2014, but graphics didn't hit the game hard enough, It looked dated from 2015 enough though.

The Following). Rais is super-charismatic bad guy, does evil, but speaks true wisdom to Crain, you hate Rais, but can`t deny his got a point.
Jade and Rahim - simply amazing, grab not just your attention, but feelings as well... so does Brecken - wish there was more of him in game (i know he was originally one of player`s)
Music - great and spot on in-game, 10/10
After DL1 will be impossible to play Dead Island or Mirror`s Edge.
Gameplay is good, but first-time night run to the tower (story mission) is simply unforgettable, and if you didn`t jump of the bridge (from the very top) - you didn`t play DL1.

Expand

After reading hundreds of reviews I decided to buy this game. I never really liked stories and games that involved zombies. But I decided to give it a try.

Initially the game was fun, but as time went on, I found it monotonous and boring. I focused on the main story to finish the game as quickly as possible. It's not a horrible game, but it didn't feel the same as the other players.

I've played through the main story and did all the side quests in the main game. Personally I think the plot was weak as well as the characters. Nothing in it stood out to me. It was either pretty generic and bad at times.

Side quests however were pretty interesting and while most of them were fetch quests their premises and stories they've told were immersing and thrilling, But the most fun I've had surprisingly was from going to those quests and just traversing the world.

Core gameplay which is melee, parkour and crafting all come together to create a gameplay loop unique to this game and one that I've not seen anyone try to replicate. It's absurd how much time I've spent just fighting zombies on the street without any particular reason. The amount of things you can do with parkour moves, melee weapons and physics of zombies is tremendous and it keeps me coming back to it.

Progression is another part of the loop. Every single point you gain feels earned and upgrades the game allows you for are almost never just stats up. They allow you to do new things with your kit of weapons or parkour moves. You won't see upgrades that are just pure stats up. That's why progression in this game feels so meaningful.

The map of the core game is split into 2 sections. One of them is slums which is a starting area. There's a bit of verticality there but mostly it's just mixes of different terrains without much to it.
However 2nd area which is sector zero or old town is much better. That is because there's an actual structure to it with high buildings and street levels. For me moving through sector zero felt a lot more freely than through slums. I could sense a rhythm in it's design which perfectly crowned the gameplay.

The Following is a dlc which contains a completely new map and as the title suggests is a follow up to events that happend in the core gameplay.

I think this time around the story is a lot centralized and knows what it wants to be about. The proggression of the story happens through system similiar to FarCry 5 where to advance you have to complete certain objectives which then grant you points towards next main story missions. A lot of people dislike this system I personally don't mind it as much.

For me the game under utilizes it's feature that made me invested in it the first place which is the gameplay loop. They crafted an interesting however huge map and to compensate for that you are given a vehicle - a buggy. This undermines the foundation the game has built originally. Personally I see the addition of the buggy and the size of the map as the biggest flows of the dlc. Some however may like it and see it as a great addtion.

The buggy has it's own skill tree which allows you for all kinds of upgrades to it. From better speed to UV lights which allow for easier drives at night.
Zombies feel more aggressive in this game and there also not as spreaded around the map as they were in Harran. They are condensed in the areas which were very populated before like a small town or fields around the farms. It adds to immersion.

One more con I have is with how the game feels a lot more like a Ubisoft open world. The game constantly bombards you with new activities and new live events for you to chase. It feels a lot more forced and while I know I said that I don't mind the system of main progression it feels like it forced upon devs to deliver more rather than better.

Overall I sadly think dlc while delivering in small portions more of Dying Light feels a lot more like a different game with mechanics of previous game. Some may find it more enjoyable and like it a lot more than I do.

The base game is 9/10 for me but The Following is around 6 or 7/10 so the overall package is an 8/10. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in it.

Don't let the Dead Island affiliation sway you one way or the other, Dying Light is its own game and it's rightfully fun, but it's not something that is Game of the Year material to me. If you like zombie games and open world games then this is worth the pickup, but otherwise I'd skip it until it goes on sale, because it's still a really fun game no matter how you dice it.

It’s a game of a thousand house calls, in which everyone needs something they can’t get or do for themselves. Catastrophe has made every doorstep a welcome place, with disease and death the justification for an openness that might seem unthinkable under other circumstances.
