Draugen didn’t make me a fan of walking simulators overall, as its excellent insight is more exceptional than a norm. However, it made me a fan of Edward and Lissie and the particular brand of storytelling designed around them. I was happy and most curious when the ending credits promised that the dynamic duo will return.

There’s Norway you won’t be engrossed in this beautifully crafted and well written Scandinavian mystery.

A psychological mystery meets the scenic fjords of Norway to bring you a new genre of fjord noir. Join Edward Charles Harden and his ward Lissie in their search for Edward's lost sister and unravel the mystery of the village of Graavik.

In summary, for anyone who is looking for a quick and easy game with beautiful Norwegian scenery, this is a must. I do hope that the developers add more aspects of the storyline down the track, but it was a good play overall and worth a try if you have a few hours to kill.

Draugen is an enthralling series of mysteries wrapped in a beautiful, haunting landscape. Although some of the game might leave you stumbling around or questioning its direction, it's hard not to play it to the end to find out what happened.

Draugen is not a revolutionary game, but it is a smart one. The story teeters between being overly explanatory and too ambiguous but never manages to succumb to either. Additionally, the two lead characters feel deftly crafted and relatable. The short length and a lack of replay value may deter some, but Draugen is a mystery worth losing yourself in.

The game is positively gorgeous, the music is extremely engaging, and while not everyone might like the slow pace of this game genre, those of you who do will take part in an adventure that will leave you staring into nothingness, to the point where you may experience memories you never actually thought you had. All in all, it is definitely a game that deserves a place in any adventurous gamer's digital library.

Whereas a more compelling introduction could have better grabbed the player’s attention, Draugen’s plot and design decisions are mostly done for good reason. Typically not one to rush through a game, I nonetheless eagerly consumed it in a single sitting. By the time the credits rolled, I had no regrets about letting myself be absorbed in this quaint rural locale and its captivating tale for a scant few hours of my time.

I am convinced by the lovable figures of Draugen, so much so that I did not need the turn at the end. They work for themselves, are versatile, charming and simply alive.

Draugen tells a story of isolation and silent desperation. It's not only a journey in a Norwegian village, it's a journey into a broken and sick conscience.

Draugen may not be the best game of this type but it's actually a beautiful experience that has it's own charm. you can definitely fall in love with this game.

  1. Teddy and Lissie are still very inviting characters, who obviously have a backstory that is distinct and known to their writers, and are the best reason to play this game.

Most mysteries remain unsolved and the plot looks like the authors wanted to make the game so unusual that ended up plain, boring and unsatisfying. The gameplay is plain too - you don’t solve any puzzles or affect the story or at least shape the character’s personality (usually in adventures you do at least one of the three). You just keep walking round the location, reading letters and listening to the main characters’ conversations and that’s it. The visuals and music are beautiful but that’s the only two advantages.
