    Well, you just never know what you're going to get when it comes to a Dragon Age game. Of the three iterations, this one seems to have even less in common with the one we all love DAO. then did it's predecessor DA II. In fact one might never even know that this is a Dragon Age game except for basic universes in which it is set. Speaking of said universe, if one knew nothing of the Dragon Age world, it's history, lore and recent events, one would not have a clue what was going on in this game. You literally would have to read every single codex and then you would still be lost. I've read all the books and played the games so I'm comfortable but you oh noobie would not be. A person should be able to pick up the game and be able to understand the universe and what is going on. This brings up my second point. There is no back story for your character. I've played 20 hrs. I don't know who this person is or why I should care. It's the hated, I workup and don't know what happened bull****. I freakin' hate that cop out. I know more about the side characters than I do my own character. This is a real mistake as far as drawing in player commitment. DAI is disconnected from the player in a way I've never experienced. Other cons: tactical camera is a joke, it's not even close to a tactical camera. What a mess. No auto attack or target. Useless "tactics" so bad that they called them "behaviors" which is nothing more than potion management. For all intents and purposes combat is fubared. The worst combat of the trilogy, hands down. This game just doesn't know what it wants to be, so a s result it's not much of anything. I'm about 20 hours in and I will take it to the end. It's not all bad, I'm still curious what will happen, but it's not what we all hoped it would be. There IS no Dragon Age folks. That epic dream that held so much promise is dead and gone, killed by arrogant developers that think they know better than us what we need for fun. So sad, so very sad. There are other problems with the game, graphics, crafting etc. but these have been covered. If you're a hardcore fan, get it when the price drops and decide for yourself.
    EDIT: I have had to come in and actually lower the score. I am dumbfounded at what they did with Dragon Age. Dumbfounded. The entire game is basically filler to mindlessly go from place to place and engage in combat. The entire main story is so thin that it likely be completed in around an hour. It reminds me a lot of LOA but with far inferior combat. LOA had great combat and that's all it had. There is so much lore to work with! Where is the Architect? What about the Old God that Morrigan had? Do they give us anything? No. They bring in a whole new antagonist, which we never get to know anything about, a whole new and thin, boring story line. There is no context for any of this! It's like it's not even a Dragon Age game! I don't know what this is but I'm so disappointed I literally feel sick to my stomach. If you want to spend hours doing a whole lot of meaningless quests with boring combat simply to get to the end of possibly one of the laziest story lines in gaming history, be my guest. Forget all the fascinating lore, the great writing and witty personalities that was the promise of Dragon Age. Forget epic adventures, forget caring about your hero and his/her companions, forget evolution in combat, forget depth, forget EVERY THING that is Dragon Age. This isn't it. This is a cheap imitation with the Dragon Age name slapped on it's cover. What a crock.

    In a general sense, and as has been noted more than once before already, controls are a mess. There is a tactical view. I know this because the game forced me into it early on, in the tutorial phase. I then struggled to get back to the appropriate zoom level so that I could see the battle. Yes, I kid you not. In tactical view, I was unable to actually see what was going on. From there on out I played it from the 3rd person perspective as in Dragon Age 2. I can live with this.
    Secondly, upon coming out of the Chantry in Redcliffe, the game autosaved and then crashed to desktop. No error message. Nothing. Empty desktop. This stands out because it hasn't happened to me with a *fully retail* game in a long time. Reloading the save crashed the game a second time. Reloading an earlier save - thank heavens for quick saves - solved the issue. So if you don't have an earlier save around, you lose a lot of progress at this point. That is not acceptable.
    This isn't yet where I stopped playing.
    In the dungeons of the Redcliffe castle, I hit a point where you're on linear progression and there is only one way to proceed. I actually prefer linear progression so that's not the issue. The problem I did have is that you have to open a gate. You do this by turning the wheel right next to it. Except...I can click that wheel till my finger falls off, the gate does nothing. Reload? Nope. Reload earlier than that room? Nope.
    So now I'm at this point where the next nearest save has me doing over 45 minutes of gameplay.
    I refuse.
    Because I know this is hardly going to be the last crash, bug or other game-halting display I encounter.
    This might have been a good game. Right now it's an unstable beta.

    Corypheus is not worth enough to be a world class boss.
    And your paying DAI is like playing a beta-play-test version of badly made TES5.
    Finished one campaign in 60 hours and don't want another at all.
    Keep doing so, Bioware, and I will be so done with your games.

    The UI could be better for PC players as it has limited space for ability placement, but it has many improvements over the DA2 one. The return of the Tactical Camera and it's related elements is a huge improvement over DA2 however. The expansive Skyrim-like feel of the zones like The Hinterlands is also a great improvement over DA2. The only problem with this and the graphics is that if you have a older system, you'll have some issues with the FPS and related elements unless your on lowest settings.

    Some people seem not to enjoy the interface - honestly, it does not bother me. At most there are some minor inconveniences, but I never played RPGs based on the interface system anyway. I do see that some changes have been made due to the consoles. But you have to look at the other side of this coin - without console versions they would not have been able to devout so much time and resources to one game (especially in a relatively niche area like RPGs).

The story unfolds nicely. Graphics are nice. Killing your first dragon feels like an accomplishment in itself.

    Some of the bad stuff :(

    The tactical camera takes some getting used to but once you adjust, it becomes muscle memory with your fingers at that point.

    Looting sucks, I want to right click and have my character run over to the item and loot it. Sometimes you have to be standing right on top of the item to pick it up.

    There isn't much of a tutorial in the war room or for crafting. Its not that in depth but something would have been nice.

    To those on the fence about getting the game I would say this...........Judge it after 20 hours of gameplay. By then the story will have opened up, you will have your palace, you will have so many side quests and places to explore. You will have dabbled in master crafting, decorating your palace and coordinating your 4 man team to bring down a dragon!!!!!!!. This is a true RPG that I have been immersed in since launch.

    Very nice RPG, they've made several improvements to the game since Dragon Age Origin (never played the second game). The combat system took a while to get use to, but is fun when you figure it out. It's not RPG of the year material, but a nice change for the Dragon Age series.

    Minus one point for every bad thing in game:
    1. Controls for PC is bad.
    2. Tactical mode is just awful. It is actually almost unusable if you compare it with DAO. Even DA2 was better in that sense. Camera is too close.
    3. Language restrictions. I cannot buy game without localization in my country.
    4. And localization is bad.
    5. Anyway I buy game with original sound/text. And for some characters voices are bad. For main character - you have only two option of sound (and they not so different). Some NPC have bad voicing. Like very young-looking and small templar commander Lucious with strong bass voice). It is ridiculous.
    6. Too much black skinned people in game. It isn't realistic. Why in middle-age setting in the snows half of population is black? Why it wasn't so in DAO? I for more in-game options but mixing people of all races in fantasy game only for show - it is bad taste. If in ME it was ok - because all people was mixed in the future - here it is very dumb and unexplainable. Just imagine Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings but hald of characters is black. Actually where is black elves and black dwarfs and anyway - why black and not Asians? Maybe because Asians don't complain about equality?
    7. Same with romance options. Bioware want to show how it is ok to be gay and how gay equals with not-gay people. And they show that equality in ... number of romance options! But it is exaggerrated. Anyway it feels more like lesson about equality than like good plot. I do not complain about gay-options at all. But in DAO it was implemented very good. And here and on DA2 it is added just for making a point. They devs. They can make all game about gays and it can be good game.
    8. Depth of side quests is bad. You feel like you play in MMORPG.
    9. Romance options - for straight male it is only Josephine she is pretty but very unremarkable as character. Cassandra is good comrade and well written but she is in her forties already and Sera is pretty ugly and dumb. And compare them to Merill, Morrigan, Leliana, Niishka, Lelliana, Jaheira, Aerie, Viconia. They was pretty and well written characters. Maybe Bioware wanted to make some un-cliched women but instead they just used another cliche. Anyway as straight man i have terrible feeling that gay-romance options is better in this game. Maybe it is done on purpose.
    10. Boring dialogs. Some better than others but most is boring. In big game like this it may be unavoidable and if it is only problem it is ok.

    Short version: It is shallow game with good graphics but without soul. It is wrong too call it RPG. It is action with RPG elements. It is ported on PC very bad. Gay and bi characters added for approval of LGBT-community and black people added for equality but without any explanations. Atmosphere and setting of DAO is ruined.

    Plot Development: Candy crush evokes more emotion than the story line of Dragon Age: Inquisition. In the beginning of the game, you wake up on the field of battle with special powers that make almost everyone want to follow you. Those that don't want to follow, hate. There is no depth to the development of your character, or any other character for that matter.

    Character development: Who are these people and why are they following you? Who knows.... For the most part, they are simply too lazy to lead themselves, or anyone else for that matter, so they follow the guy with the glowing hand that can apparently close the demon doors into this world. "What is this glowing hand and how did you develop the power to close these doors" you might ask? Who knows.. The pain of playing the game to find the answer makes you quickly forget why you bought the game in the first place.

    Graphics and performance: I am running a PC powered by an i7 4770k CPU, GTX 780-Ti, 16 GB ram and I STILL experience stuttering quite frequently. How do you spend this much money developing a game only to have j/v issues like this!? The world is extremely un-polished and looks as though it were covered in shiny plastic.

    Game play: Skills and abilities available to your group are limited, leaving your inner tactician thirsting for more options. It was almost like playing an MMORPG with no-one else online.... dull...as...hell....

    Well, steam has overgrown such problems like a decade ago..

    The second ringbell was right after the start: those who preordered this game could use "The Origin Great Game Guarantee" - get full refund before 24 hrs run out since first launch;
    but for those who get the game after - it is no more, so EA admits - it is not "The Origin Great Game" any more? What exactly has happened?

    - Game dont run on dual cores?
    - Not a problem, the system requirements were published before the release, we dont support losers.
    - Game has freezes/low fps/crashes?
    - Nah, we will use that new protection system (that adds new problems?) so pirates will not suffer it (as our loyal customers do). Thanks.
    - You are a dedicated PC user?
    - Nonsense, all gamers must have a gamepad in order to play, if u dont have one (or dont wanna have) and u use kbrd+mouse then - u r a looser, admit it.

    Gave it 1 cos i hope in some parallel universe players could:

    Enjoy deep NPC personalities;
    Enjoy deep and interesting quest chains;
    Enjoy hardcore tactical battles if u r oldschool hardcore player (or just DA:Origins fan) ;
    Enjoy visual side (animation/look);
    Add mods to the game;
    Play the game at the language u wanna to;
    Play the game comfortably on all the platforms.

    I've put about 10 hours into the PC version game and I really don't see myself spending much more. Much like many other's reviews, I really dislike the controls. It shouldn't be a chore to loot a corpse (if you even happen to notice that there was loot left behind).

    There's nothing fluid about the UI at all. The weapon/armor upgrade system is confusing as hell.

    Maybe I'm splitting hairs but the skill tree doesn't feel exciting. The fact that I can fully upgrade a skill to its maximum potential within the first couple of skill points I am given just feels wrong.

    I picked a Mage character.. and the majority of the time in combat is spent waiting for my hotbutton skills to be active. I gave up on "auto attacking" way before. Besides, who has time to auto attack when you are trying to position the camera to see if a rift can be 'disrupted' for the 18th time before it closes?

    Have to agree with others that this might be better on console, and was likely designed FOR console. But I am wishing I could get my money back.

    - Some unnecessary time fillers (some collectibles etc seem to be implemented just to serve as a time sink)
    - Little variety of spells for mage
    - AI dumbed down with very limited/non-existent tactics and commands (couldn’t issue a command to revive my teammates if I’m alive)
    - Menus are a mess (just to find out how much HP you have you have to scroll down all the way down to check attributes or …..rely on VISUAL representation of your statistics which does not help at all when you compare stuff like +18hp belt)
    - No tooltip for skills!!!
    - No innovations in the gameplay (unless you count NO HEALING as innovation)
    - Quests are classical MMORPG go, fetch, kill, return

    POOR POOR game for PC. Looks great and ‘feels’ great on the surface but on the PC it is simply not enjoyable. A whole lot of negatives could’ve been fixed if only BIOWARE did not neglect the PC market of the game. I did preorder it and after 12 hours of pushing myself just to get my money worth back I conclude that it is the biggest disappointment in my whole gaming career.

    PS. big standing ovation for BIOWARE/EA marketing departments, they are good enough to sell sand on Sahara desert...

    I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews, this game is fantastic. There is nothing I can say that hasn't been already stated. Bad dialogue, clichéd story and, without adding spoilers, an abysmal villain. There are also mechanics missing entirely, such as the healer.

    The side-quests are MMO style hunt and gather, repetitive and dull. A far cry from their start in Baldur's Gate where you could almost always find a twist or even Dragon Age Origins where at least part of them had enough complications to keep you interested.

    The controls on the PC are amazingly bad, the UI is almost thoughtless in its design and while the graphics are fine, my modded Skyrim looks better and (somehow) works better. There has been no optimization and seeing as how Bio is bad at it already, I don't expect that to change. If they'd have allowed for a tool set kit, I would have expected the community to fix it (as it happened for Skyrim) but alas...

    I am giving it a 2 because it squeezed a few laughs out of me, but it's not even mediocre in my eyes. It is not an RPG, not even an action game. It is a high fantasy hiking simulator.

    I would classify this game as a missed opportunity. For those of you who expected Bioware to redeem itself, I'm very sorry. I'm as disappointed as you are.

    These users are SPOILED and rotten, like those leftover crab cakes you left in the fridge and forgot about for two months. This game, though apparently not up to par with ridiculous processing standards, is perfect. If you enjoy BioWare at all, then this one's for you.

    I'll try to keep it balanced and unbiased:

    Pros: - Graphics is good. Not awesome for 2014 but good and qualifies as eye candy. - The game world is larger than Dragon Age 2. It isn't actually an open world as in the Elder Scrolls games but at least you won't revisit the same locations over and over again. - You can meet characters from previous games. It's fanservice of course, but

    - Soundtrack is great. If you're a fan of epic music you'll love it.

    Cons:
    - The main story and conversations feel as though they are written for teens and, which is worse, by teens. Cringe-worthy B- grade stuff.
    - Combat is godawful. A mix of MMO combat with console action. Button mashing . Don't even try to play Inquisition with keyboard and mouse.
    - The character animations are clumsy and unnatural. I know it's a common enough problem for 3D games but this time the developers didn't even try. Annoying and breaks immersion.
    - Serious performance issues on a rig that can handle Shadows of Mordor on High/Ultra without any trouble.

    Conclusion:
    Not the most terrible game I've played in my life but it could be much better.

    Also i am having bizarre stuttering with a Core i7 3.9GHZ / 16GB Ram / GTX780 and i am not sure if it is because of this new stupid DRM called DEVUNO or because the game is just an unoptimized piece of sh*tty software because normally my system should be powerful enough to play this game even with max graphic settings

    This game is beyond amazing. The only things holding me back from giving it a 10 are some cumbersome keyboard/mouse controls and sometimes choppy performance. I have played every BioWare RPG since Baldur's Gate, and I have enjoyed all of them to different degrees. One thing I wish people would realize is that BioWare will never make the same game twice- they will always attempt to do something different with the next game. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. It really works here, and I LOVE the way this game comes together.

    I wonder about the people lining up to give "0" reviews for this game. I have played exactly ONE game I would give a zero- Deadly Towers for NES. I sometimes think that people who spam zero reviews are people who need to leave the house and get a life, because no game should ever crush your spirit or enrage you to the point that you need to make it your mission to tell people how horrible it is, as if the game is a personal affront to you because you need to learn a new way of controlling characters on the screen.

    Let me clear this up for people: It is only UNPLAYABLE if you have zero aptitude for learning new control schemes. Yes, you will suck at the beginning, because that's how it works when you play new games for the first time. And then you will get better and forget about the controls, and the game is simply awesome.

    Enjoy!

    Worst game I have been gullible enough to buy in years.

    - The UI and controls on PC are a nightmarish console port abomination - The graphics are not that great but still manage to cripple my fps (horrible optimization) - Pre-order or deluxe edition items are immediately outclassed by items you receive at level 2 (!) - Animations look rigid and jarring - Some game-breaking bugs

    Only positive thing I have to say about this travesty is the texture detail is very nice and the musical score is very good.

    All in all not nearly enough to save this game from being an absolute scam. Don't buy it, spend your money on something that's actually worth the premium price.

Every single thing in this game is the definition of cliché. Bioware were never good at creating a thrilling or fun game play. "Not boring" tactical fights and running around finding "secret" stashes, in between the cut-scenes and dialogue, were the highest point they could get some of their games to. Anyone who played their old games did so because of the story and the characters. In DA: Inquisition both the game play and the story and characters are brutally degraded to a new level of low. This fact alone makes me... well not sad because I don't care about EA games, but it does bring some nostalgia for BG, IWD and Kotor in me. Which the game itself failed to do so. The game could be played at most once, and in a rush besides that, if the player can stoically withstand the horrible game play. Only to go through the lackluster story that doesn't bring up any emotion. The characters along the way are hollow and develop poorly if at all. I wont go into details because they are just a bad joke gone wrong and don't deserve your attention. Draw your own conclusions.
    TL:DR You better play something else if you want to have fun or want a rich characters and a good story. If you have played and liked any of the following: BG 1/2, Neverwinter 1/2, Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim, Kotor 1/2, DA: Origins, even Kingdoms of Amalur, Fable 1 or whatever, I sincerely promise to you, that you WILL be disappointed by DA: I.

I will give them SOME credit for "looking into these issues" but some of these issues shouldn't even be here in the first place."

    Just registered to counter those zero points reviews. They are utterly laughable. A game which is obviously one of the best RPG:s at the decade, perhaps all time, gets slammed for small details like "no autoattack" (anyone who has actually played for a few hours understands how pointless an autoattack would be).
