After playing Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2, I thought Inquisition would be just as good - if not better - than its predecessors. I mean, how do you make something worse when the formula for the game is so established?

I started up the game for the first time 2 hours ago. When I first started it up, I noticed some extremely minimalistic menus: maybe 4 options displayed under each menu item with scrolling required to see them all. The font was abnormally large, as if the developers assumed I were losing my vision and needed jumbo fonts.

When I began playing, the very first thing I experienced was a framerate between 20 and 70 frames per second. That huge variation is a big red flag for me. It suggests optimization problems.

Second were the controls. This is obviously a console-only game. Controls for the mouse are extremely limited and frustrating. Baffling choices for default control mappings (especially comparing it to the superb control mappings of the previous 2 games), a camera that can only be controlled by a keyboard when in tactical mode, a lot of functionality removed from the game like auto attacking and clicking to move to a location.

I have already requested and received a refund for this and I will purchase another bioware game in the future if they choose to deign games with PCs in mind rather than just a bandaid afterthought.

I would also like to state that I am/was a huge Bioware & Dragon Age Series fan along with all the Elder Scrolls games. Back in the day, I was a modder for both DA:O and DA2. Despite the bugs and repetitive areas in DA2, I found myself enjoying the game & storyline. However, I will point out that it was the community not Bioware who produced a viable import fix and gained access to a lot of valuable, immersive dialogue. Orgins, as I'm sure users' have stated, is a masterpiece. It may be buggy as hell, but it's still one of my favorite games of all time.

    Now onto my actual review.

    Pros

    - Breathtaking graphics (despite the fact eye candy is possibly the sole thing developers focused on)

    - I enjoyed the artistic Tarot cards used on the party selection screen. They changed throughout he game and were based on choices you made and how they affected your companions. Some (esp Varric's) were especially haunting - even moving.

    - They listened to fans regarding the involvement of Heroes from previous games and unique dialogue based on choices/romance from their former games in the series.

    - The tavern music. Touching, haunting, gorgeous.

    Cons

    - Repetitive, mind-numbing "quests." I don't feel particularly comfortable acknowledging these grinds as quests. These tasks remind me of grinding in MMOs for faction/raid gear etc. Except, you aren't playing online with your guild gabbing away in mumble/vent/teamspeak while grinding/crawling through a dungeon. You are alone running around static area after area listening to your inquisitor's footsteps. This type of experience composes the majority of the game. I'm not kidding.

    - My companions felt like 2-D cardboard cutouts - as did my inquisitor. Their see-through personalities and bland, un-creative (not to mention rare) banter made me wish I was playing my lone wanderer in Skyrim. That game had a ridiculous amount of quests & content yet Elder Scrolls didn't sacrifice quality for quantity. The endless fluff/filler "quests" feel like chores - not even the companion quests were spared. For instance, each follower has 2 personal quests. However, only one per follower actually contained story content. The rest were the same - fetch x of this y of that z of the other thing so on and so forth. They didn't even try with Vivienne - both of her quests are grindy and mmo like and her brief cut-scene is ... I can't even describe it but let's just say my 7 year old niece could put their creativity to shame.

    - PC controls. I refuse to even try a melee class. I found some decent tricks for my archer & mage but I can't imagine a warrior or dual wielding rogue build would be playable.

    - Jumping puzzles. Maybe it's less frustrating on console, but who in their right mind puts a jumping puzzle in a tactical, story based RPG?

    - We all know Bioware failed to patch numerous bugs in both former games. However, there were always ways for you to set up your parties' tactics to account for combat glitches. Even without user-generated fixes, it worked reasonably well. Some modders who were far more talented than myself published combat fixes and/or tweaks to the system that made it more enjoyable. Well, users no longer need to fret over followers failing to listen. Now we have a tactical game with no tactics. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't experienced it. Trust me, it makes no sense. You can't even set followers to aggressive or ranged so your squishy mages and archers will stand in front of a mob's great sword and pretend to tank or camp out in AOEs. You can't order followers to use x ability under y circumstances so they'll waste their stuns, barriers, stealth, etc on random enemies or an ally who already has a barrier. Then when you need said ability, well, too bad. Warriors can no longer be ordered to intercept enemies attacking your ranged followers. They have 2 options:
    1) mindlessly attack your ONE target
    2) stand next to your controlled character to *guard* him/her. In reality, the warrior just stands there being useless.

    - The "puzzles." First they aren't truly puzzles. They remind me of team-work exercises we had the kiddos do in 3rd grade. The most complex one I came across was "everyone light the fire at the same time." However, it took me 2 hours to complete this simplistic puzzle because the *HOLD* command is broken and followers randomly decide to run off and do their own thing.

    - This game confuses annoying for difficult. There are examples of frustrating, ridiculous scenarios across the board but I'll focus on the blatantly obvious ones. They have certain mobs (terrors esp) who repeatedly knock your party down. Normally, you would be able to adjust your party's tactics to account for this but, well, tactics were removed remember? Not to mention the fact – it doesn't really matter. The ability barely does any damage but “Terrors” are one of the most frequent mobs in the entire game and they will force you to lay there doing nothing over and over and over again. Sound like fun to you?

That concludes my con list. The rest I'm not comfortable listing as either positive or negative because it depends on the audience. However, I have a difficult time picturing anyone enjoying this game who hasn't read the books and played through DA2 DLC. The entire game is based on content from the book series and that one DLC. For me, the fact I had so much background on characters alleviated the monotony. In conclusion, the game is... boring, uncreative, and I find my attention wandering constantly – and this is coming from someone who can tell you which NPCs are mangling elven pronunciation. It took a lot to drive me away.

I'll begin by stating that I have put over 100 hours into this game, and reserved my opinions on DA:I until completion. I have played through the entire "story" and completed every side quest I could find. I have played through the entire "story" and completed every side quest I could find. I played as a 2h Dwarf Warrior and also have spent quite a few hours messing around on a Qunari Rogue and a Human Mage.

I ultimately found myself painfully wishing it would end within hours, but I chose to stick it out (since the majority of 10/10 reviewers are citing the bad reviews as people who "only played a few hours").

I decided to play this game with an open mind, I had neither high nor low expectations going in, I loved DA:O and struggled to enjoy DAII. I played the PC version using a 4770k / ASUS 290x, all settings maxed.

Visually with the settings maxed the environments are very nice, especially coastline scenery with waves crashing into the beach. I do agree with most reviews that it seems most objects and characters in the game are coated with "wax", giving a plastic effect on everything from characters to paintings on the walls.

The opening of the game made it seem like this would be a great game with an in depth story, but after being released in the Hinterlands I became quite confused and the boredom began to set in. After opening each new area in the war room, I was never certain which quest was even main quest related, I just cleared the entire area and that was enough to progress. The story line became utterly non-existent, it seems the story had an intro, a half way event (leading to skyhold) and the final events, packed with ~70 hours of filler in between. Every area felt the same, find the oculara shards, complete the astrariums, loot plants and ore, kill nonhostile and hostile creatures for crafting quests (that did seemingly nothing upon completion as far as the strength of my "army" and character development, which ultimately had zero bearing on anything). I literally only found one side quest in this game rewarding as it resulted in an upgraded sword for my character. Everything else only left me with a bit more experience, which leads to the point: This game is a mindless grind festival, every reviewer stating "Single Player MMORPG" hits the nail on the head, I felt like I was playing a dumbed down WoW alone. Also, the war table scout missions were mostly worthless, send somebody out anywhere from 14 minutes to 23 hours and receive an ultimately useless reward, again no noticeable bearing on the story. And the amount of Oblivion gates, excuse me I mean fade rifts that were all the exact same to close was mind numbing. I literally spoiled and covered 99% of this game in this paragraph.

Character Development: I was left supremely disappointed. The acting has almost zero appeal to this type of fantasy game. Never in my life have I had a problem with women in video games, I thought Morrigan was awesome in DA:O, but this game is just over the top. Nearly every character in a position of power was a woman, and their attitudes were typical of a rotten "empowered" liberal. I don't care that Sera "likes girls too", it just makes my head hurt. I understand wanting to cater to minorities and LGBT crowds, but this game is at a level of insanity IMO, of course people will rant and rave over this comment but it's true, this was clearly done for PR and sales. I'll leave the neo-political rant at that. Aside from that, development was very boring, one minute everybody hated me because I was a stupid dwarf guilty of murder, then I'm the Herald of Andraste and worshiped by all, nothing in between.

Customization: Nonexistent in this game. Stats are automatically increased based on the skills you pick, I found that for each character you just pick a tree, put a "point" in everything, after that mostly working to get every passive possible and working up the specialization tree. It had no effect on the difficulty, this game is 100% run into a pack of monsters, mash every spell that's recharged and keep swinging. I played on normal, did not set up any tactics for my allies, never told them what to do, and I believe I did not die once in battle.

Other: Within 10 minutes I realized this was a console port, I gave up on playing with K+M and switched to an xbox controller. Tactical camera as pointed out relentlessly is totally unusable, don't even bother with it. There is little diversity to equipment, no item sets, just armor and helm (with a few moddable additions in slots), I had zero interest in "finding" gear. No party tactics, no control over allies like DA:O and as promised. The game was jokingly easy and required ZERO thought to beat. This was NOT a game for PC gamers, that statement is an utter lie. It was designed for consoles, with console players in mind. This was NOT an RPG. It's also very buggy.

The good: My 3 year old nephew enjoyed jumping off of cliffs and dying. That's the only thing I've gained in my time with DA:I.

Singleplayer MMO with fetch quests and a poor story. It's Bioware cashing in on Skyrims formula. It's the MacDonalds Big Mac of the Bioware catalog. Big, but filled with a whole lot of filler and very little meat.

It has become a repetitive pattern nowadays. Consoles spoiled so many good games. It's really a pity to see the DA going down the same way. I will always cherish all those long hours spent on the rich game which was DA:O...the sequels are just garbage.
Oh and please stop using the term "Role-playing-game" for anything that has some character progression and is set in a fantasy universe

Plot Development: Candy crush evokes more emotion than the story line of Dragon Age: Inquisition. In the beginning of the game, you wake up on the field of battle with special powers that make almost everyone want to follow you. Those that don't want to follow, hate. There is no depth to the development of your character, or any other character for that matter.

Character development: Who are these people and why are they following you? Who knows.... For the most part, they are simply too lazy to lead themselves, or anyone else for that matter, so they follow the guy with the glowing hand that can apparently close the demon doors into this world. "What is this glowing hand and how did you develop the power to close these doors" you might ask? Who knows.. The pain of playing the game to find the answer makes you quickly forget why you bought the game in the first place.

Graphics and performance: I am running a PC powered by an i7 4770k CPU, GTX 780-Ti, 16 GB ram and I STILL experience stuttering quite frequently. How do you spend this much money developing a game only to have j/v issues like this!? The world is extremely un-polished and looks as though it were covered in shiny plastic.

Game play: Skills and abilities available to your group are limited, leaving your inner tactician thirsting for more options. It was almost like playing an MMORPG with no-one else online.... dull...as...hell....

Most BW fans play BW games for the story and companions, gameplay has never been their greatest strengths. The gameplays were interesting, but 'niche,' like DAO and felt like chess or turn-based in a way. And that was okay! In fact great! But in this iteration, (at least playing as a mage, supposedly the 'most tactical' class) gameplay is instead relegated to face-planting on the keyboard as fast as possible. After playing for ~45 hours, I realized I've not use the tactical camera once besides moving my archer (Sera), because the AI is so inanely bad your squishy DPS will just stand there face-tanking damage and waste potions! They will NOT use their 'escapes' like back-jump and stealth, because the AI use them for 'damage' and 'opener' respectively. WTF! No, all you ever do is hold the mouse button (no AA), and spam your cooldowns...the only slight 'tactical area of gameplay' is just deciding when to use your barrier...

Another thing about the gameplay. The potion cap and no healing was put in to create 'artificial filler' to increase game completion time because you would almost always have to teleport back to camp after a tough encounter and completely backtrack to where you were. Meet a troll? Teleport back and back track after. Meet a Red Templar Behemoth? Teleport back and back track after. And not to mention farking respawning enemies every 5 minutes!! I've literally loaded a game and landed right on top of a group of enemies..More fking filler...

Another thing about gameplay, it is EXTREMELY easy to 'cheese' the AI. Say if you're down to one person, just run away; the enemy will chase for a bit but they have invisible walls they will never cross and they don't regenerate health. So just run away way until the game exits combat mode, have your team revive, barrier, and attack until dead; repeat if necessary. This is not the case in DAO where enemies (and you) would regen HP completely, while any downed companions will have injuries, causing a disadvantage. Also unlike DAO, attacks don't register unless it 'connects' to the character model, meaning you can just jump around and cheese like in fking Arkham Asylum! In Dragon Age! Far from 'as promised similar to' DAO indeed...Feel like an MMO (WoW) without other humans, if you can imagine that...

Also, if an encounter gives you trouble go easy mode and just pick knight enchanter, (unlimited) repec all points to KE, cast barrier, hold sword cast. You'll solo the game on nightmare no problem.

Now let's get to what BW does best. The story and NPC interactions! Basically the story and atmosphere sucked donkey dongs, like big throbbing donkey dongs...No climax, no 'gravity', no sense of 'dread' such as in DAO. Terrible atmosphere and no investment. Remember how in the first DA the world and weather was bleak and you can feel the hopelessness and the menace of the Darkspawn and demons? How it made you feel it was going to be a long, hard, uphill battle but in the end a glorious crusade to save the world proper of a true dark fantasy game? Well, hope you hated that feeling since there's none of that here. Sunny days except for maybe 3 areas, closing green jello floating in the air. That's your atmosphere. Also, I did not give a single fk about any of the companions. The banter count is low, maybe once per 2 hours?! There are no interesting back stories like in DAO, like how Alistar was the king's illegitimate son and he was actually a good leader. Or how Leliana was an assassin prior to her repentance. Or how Morrigan was just a vessel for her mother's immortality. Nope, none of that here, you get run of the mill Grey Warden who live in solitude in the woods, mage with grudge against his former teacher, Qunari warrior, etc...You also cannot talk unless at the keep! WTF!

And the ending! OMFG was that abrupt! It will disappoint I GUAREEN-FKING-TEE it! Without the fetch filler quest and 'power' (another artificial filler), you can complete the game in 15 hours. On hard! 15 hours of 'real gameplay and story' bloated to ~40. Fking GG.

Basically BW fked it up, severely bad. Fk'd the story/NPCs, fk'd the atmosphere, and fk'd the gameplay/AI.

Give it a 1 out of 10 because Morrigan and Lelianna were actually pretty hot in game as opposed to the art, about the only thing worth the triple A budget lmao. Morrigan's face look the most developed out of all in the game, her lips actually move realistically and you can ACTUALLY tell what her emotions are!! If I wasn't a diehard DAO fan I would have refunded after 20 minutes in the Hinterlands. I will be more wary of 'critic reviews' of EA games and all games next time!

I've droned on long enough. Vote with your wallet!

BioWare is dead. Thanks EA...I hope one day EA just sells all the IP to Larian Studios, an indie, or whatever and close down this shameful reversal of the once great development studio.

How is this getting 80+ from critics on the PC platform? This is a terrible console port.

The Keyboard/Mouse functionality and 'tactical' combat are awful and those are two of the three areas (along with graphics) that should set the PC version apart from the console versions.

I've been on Youtube and watched peoples tips on how to make the most of the tactical camera. It's not quite as crap as it first appears and that kept me in the game a little longer... but it's still pretty terrible and ultimately I got incredibly frustrated with it. The only real way to play the game is in hack'n'slash mode, and I'm just not into that kind of thing. As you encounter various parts of the game, you can kind of almost hear the executives at Bioware discussing them in a meeting. "I'm sorry Paul but all these attribute stats are going to put off our console gamers, we'd better *streamline* that bit." Well guess what, you've just turned off 75% of your PC audience. Many of us like all that nerdy stuff and we don't really want to play a Tomb Raider action/adventure clone that's set on Fereldan.

I note there's a lot of people on here saying that it's too soon to slam the game with a negative review. Well when would be a good time? If you've just paid £40 (plus the cost of a new graphics card) to play the damn thing, and you've had to give up on day two because you're bored to tears and you can't take it any more what else can you say except that it's crap and that other people shouldn't buy it? Professional reviews are all about judging each part of the game in turn and giving a balanced opinion on whether you think the average person will enjoy it. User reviews are simply (and often more helpful) they just answer the question "Did I enjoy it?" and if enough people say "No!" then that's quite an interesting statistic. Personally, I'm extremely suspicious about the professional reviews for this game. So many of them seemed to parrot the official EA line about it being "Back to it's root" that when most users discover that it so transparently isn't, one has to question if there's a significant degree of corruption going on.

I suppose I shouldn't finish this review without saying at least some of what I found positive. The graphics and the world are probably the prettiest I've ever seen. They're incredibly varied, and I feel so sad for all those hard working artists and programmers who'd done a fantastic job but ultimately have ended up with their game getting panned because the execs wanted to push for a mass market lowest common denominator style of game.

I just want to say first off that I am a big fan of the Dragon Age Universe. I have both Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2. I wasn't too found of DA2, but I did enjoy the story line. Now on to my review of DA:I.

I just want to say first off that I am a big fan of the Dragon Age Universe. I have both Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2. I wasn't too found of DA2, but I did enjoy the story line. Now on to my review of DA:I.

I have to agree with other critics and say this game has a feel of a single player MMO. This game feels like as if EA was working on an MMO game and then felt as if it wasn't going to sell because of games like Destiny and Witcher 3. So at a last minute they changed it to a Dragon Age game with the same characters. That is why I have a feeling there is no Warden in this game. Then they delayed it another year because they need to fix the kinks from the original format to make it work as a Dragon Age game.

Second part that supports my theory above is the fact PC keyboard and mouse support is awful. This game feels like it was ported from a console to PC instead of the other way around. I generally try to press F5 to quick save and it doesn't work.

My other beef with this game is the fact you can't distribute attribute points like the other games. Your best way to increase your attributes is your equipment. I have even found rare equipment that I can't use for another few levels. Which goes to my other beef is XP is so slow in this game compared to the other games.
Even carrying limited 8 potions is lame and when you run out, you run out. They said your health bar would increase slow after a battle, but wow talk about it is really, really slow.

My last beef with this game is the fact that there is no healing spells. There is a skill that lets you revive and heal them, but it is so far up the tree that it is hard to get to especially with low xp rewards you get. I have ran into a high dragon already in the game at level 4 and got killed. They say you have to use strategy and I had no choice to face them. Even if you ran they follow you till you are dead.

Fanboys can't fathom the fact that this game has it's flaws. All they seem to care is that the fact this game has good graphics and it's a Dragon Age game.

    - NO usable Tactics menu! YOU GET 5 TACTICS OPTIONS WHICH ARE PRETTY MUCH ALL RELATED TO POTIONS AND YOU CANT CHANGE THAT!!! You cant tell your party any useful "if ... then cast / use ability -> .... " commands THEY SIMPLY DO NOT EXIST IN THIS GAME! DA FAK????

    - The AI is the dumbest group of idiots i have ever seen. Sure they will autocast their spells if you allow them.. but da fak!!! There is a spell named "Barrier" that gives a massive second life bar for a short duration to absorb damage but when does your AI companion cast it??? Not when someone in your party is actually dropping low on health ohhh no no way THEY CAST IT BEFORE THE BLOODY START OF THE BATTLE WHILE YOU ARE WALKING UP TO THE ENEMIES SO IT RUNS OUT BEFORE YOU HAVE EVEN TAKEN ONE GODDAMN HIT!!!

Seriously the combat is broken! Not fun at all pure frustration. Maybe if you play on easy and nobody is even able to die from anything ( Ohh btw there is a spec in the game that is designed so retardedly op that it solos nightmare difficulty by just tapping 2 buttons repeatedly! Just throwing that out..)

And the Story OOOHHHH MYYYY GOOOOD!
Imagine a world where everyone only says the most obvious things ever. " I am a healer. I am in need of herbs. It's dangerous outside so please collect them for me." Response: "Ohh so you're a healer and in need of herbs?" " Yes look at the list of herbs on the table"

^This is an adequate representation of all dialoge in the game even the story missions. Speaking of story missions.. The story in this game progresses like ever 4 hours with a single 15 minute quest that is more ultraobvious talk.

GOD ITS SOOOOO BAD. Words can not explain how bad this game really is. How much worse it is than it's predecessors (YES THAT INCLUDES DA2!!!!)

I have seriously waited to buy this .. read a billion of reviews most of which were positive and I LITERALLY HAVE NO IDEA HOW ANYONE CAN GIVE THIS DUNG HEAP MORE THAN 6/10 . Geeeezzzz it's sooooooo baaaaaaad.

If you want to play a good RPG, buy Divinity Original Sin instead!!!

There is a lot of bloating being done by EA employees and fans on one side and EA haters on another. If you want to get a real understanding of whether or not to play this game, I would recommend watching a silent play through of the prologue and some random scenes. You shouldn't rely solely on these reviews alone. Anyways, lets me get to why I gave a negative score to Dragon Age Inquisition. First let me try to keep my history with the Dragon Age series short and sweet. Dragon Age Origins was the first game that I played which granted me a lot of freedom that I was not used to seeing from a game. It gave a Dungeon and Dragons sort of feeling that was fun. The mechanics, story, characters, and so much more left me quite hopeful for the future of this series back in 2010. Dragon Age II comes along, and I was sort of disappointed. It was an okay game with its own ups and downs, but it did not give off the same sort of freedom and atmosphere that Origins had provided. The game had a linear story, and I, along with many others, assumed that it functioned rather as sort of prequel or prologue to Dragon Age III. I was renewed with happiness and excitement while waiting for this game. Up until about year and a half ago, when I looked more into this series that I enjoyed, I started to lose hope for it. First it came with the delay. I understood that they wanted to perfect it before release and added the multiple origin feature to the game, but I was still disappointed in the delayed release. I started looking into some of the writers, developers, and other people who were working on the series, and my heart sank in my chest. I will not be naming names, but some of them did not even play video games or seemed to be appropriate. Some of their previous works were far below par in contrast to what one would expect for such a big name title. After some time, there was the 30 minute game play release; I was hopeful. I was then disappointed again. I noted a lot of clipping issues, poor game play mechanics, and just terribly writing. I had planned on not getting this game for some time either used or when the price dropped, but a friend of mine had gotten me a copy as a present. (It was an PlayStation 3 copy, and I was used to playing these games on the desktop computer, so that may have skewed my opinion on it.) So I spent the night playing it yesterday. It was bland and bad. The graphics were below my expectations. Textures seemed very clunky or rough. The characters were fairly unattractive and disappointing. There were a lot of bugs with some scenes and game play (which I was aware of ahead of time from the game play presentation but not for those horrid scenes). The animations were very robotic, rigid, or stiff; it was as if the game was made a decade ago. The dialogue and writing was compatible to what I would expect to find on a fan fiction website or deviant art. The companion characters themselves were varying. I do not want to give to my spoilers, but one character was just particularly terrible in regards to interaction. They also seemed to be aimed at one general opinion which was disappointing. Rather than a diverse group of characters with different opinions, there was just different wrapping on them. That is not to say there were clones of each other or agreed with everyone else, but it is hard to explain with providing spoilers. Let me go on to most important part, the game play. It was not fun. There were bugs with the camera and enemy AIs. The mechanics and level system was not improved much from Dragon Age II. It is described by one YouTuber as being as if it was an MMO. I am not fond of most MMO games, so this may be why I am not fond of the game play. There is more that I could go into about this game, but I do not believe that will change your feelings on this game. When it comes down to it, you can either to play it or do not. After telling my opinion on it, I can not sway your curiosity. Even I wanted to see it, but instead of buying it new or at the current price, wait for used copies to be sold, a decrease in price, borrow it, rent it, or something where you don't spend too much on it. If you like it, support the developers and give your opinion on it. If you do not like it, don't support the developers and give your opinion why. I would also recommend that you do not trust most of these game reviews by "professionals" critics as they tend to be more dishonest then a used car salesman. So either buy it or don't. I would recommend you don't and just borrow it from a friend if you have to buy it. Expand

I'm not saying I want this game to be the next DA:O in terms of gameplay etc, I'm okay with a brand new system but DA:I simply failed in almost every aspect. The combat feels clunky and sluggish, the characters' textures and models are just horrid and weird, the voice acting quality is under par, the tactical camera is basically unusable on PC, the user interface is so not PC friendly (yes they said they're fixing it), the story is mediocre at best, the skills system and variation are very little, the Tactics (AI settings for characters) is very very horrible and simplified as though as this is a mobile game.

Now for the MP, the amount of active skills you can bring to a mission is 4 maximum, so most of the time I just press and hold left mouse button to auto attack. There's not even a number indicator on both the HP bar and MP/Stamina bar. The worst part of the MP is they're using P2P for the MP, about 80% of the time I simply got dc'ed and no, there's nothing wrong with my connection, I played WoW, Diablo 3, RIFT, Dragon Nest, Battlefield 4, CS:GO, FF XIV etc perfectly and no major dc just like DA:I. I already try to clear the TCP/IP, change the DNS, turned off my firewall and AV but still dc'ed a lot. Also even when I got connected and got a "bad" host, the game is simply lagged a lot due to P2P system.

Inquisition will be very fun for you if you enjoy MMO-like design in RPG's. I quite like that, I find some care-free grinding and exploration relaxing and it helps me get immersed in the world. The game takes its time and implements those mechanics well. However, if you prefer RPG's that are shorter and more to the point (like Witcher 2), you may get bored here. However, if you prefer RPG's that are shorter and more to the point (like Witcher 2), you may get bored here. The story and dialogue is also great and moves at a fine pace, but in order for you to not constantly wonder what the hell is going on I recommend that you refresh your knowledge of the Dragon Age world and lore, as well as what happened in the previous games. The Keep website is a good place to start and you should definitely do that, but I'd also recommend reading up on the world's different factions and what they are about, it will really help you appreciate the methodic world building that's going on here.

Unfortunately, the game has one fatal flaw: crashing. Performance-wise, I had no problems on ultra (4790k, 16g ram, 780 Ti, Win 8.1), but it crashed probably around once every hour. All my drivers are of course up to date, and I don't have any hardware or temperature issues (just finished Far Cry 4 without a single problem). I have no idea what's causing this. Could be engine related, could be DRM-related, I couldn't say. Will they fix it? Probably, but I decided not to risk waiting and refunded the game through Origin (and kudos to them for allowing you to do so if you are not satisfied, as opposed to Steam).

As a result, although the game seemed very interesting, I can't in good conscience rate it high if it was unstable enough for me to get a refund. You might not have problems with it though, so I guess there's nothing stopping you from checking it out and then getting a refund if you are unhappy.

The Problems: The combat is disorienting (camera control issues), and is more of a click fest versus strategic. The graphics are okay, but nothing spectacular. Dialogue is generic and at times seemingly pointless. Controlling character via keyboard and mouse is a struggle, especially so during combat (no auto-attack). The menus are not sized right, and thus cumbersome to work with. Too often companions will do this 'instant teleportation' where they pretty much fall out of the sky besides you if the distance between you and them gets too great. If you are looking for immersion, this probably won't cut it for you, and contrary to what has been said - I didn't find it an open world at all. Case in point - combat to me means sometimes pulling back (trying to get away). Being chased down, running for your life is fun. Inquisition, you have none of this, as NPC's seem range bound to a specific area. If you step within their area they come after you, but the moment you step out - you don't exist to them. Besides these points, the game overall is just plain boring. There is nothing that grabbed my attention. No 'wow' factor, just a big bloated, clunky game, that tries to do everything and as a consequence doesn't do any one particular thing exceptionally well.

The last point I want to mention is the story. It is uninspired, boring, and though I realize it could get better with time - how much time we talking? If the story can't grab me within the first 12 hours, then sorry you have missed the mark

Honestly, I really wanted to like this game. I totally bought the hype up, and preordered it. That will be the very last time I ever do that again with any game. Really disgusted with the professional/critic reviewers for giving Inquisition stellar reviews of 85% and up (one of them gave it a 100% - someone is on Bioware or EA payroll). I just can't see how anyone could play this and give it above 80% - unless maybe this is the first game they ever played and have no reference point.

Also i am having bizarre stuttering with a Core i7 3.9GHZ / 16GB Ram / GTX780 and i am not sure if it is because of this new stupid DRM called DEVUNO or because the game is just an unoptimized piece of sh*tty software because normally my system should be powerful enough to play this game even with max graphic settings

Honestly can't say how much I feel betrayed , by all the promises of "going back to the tactical mode of DAO" crap that Bioware pushed down our throats,. Also by all the positive reviews, here and in other places as well, as they are all payed for these, as no sane person would give it positive score on PC.

I just don't understand how is it possible to **** up this bad controls on PC, when you already had them nailed down on DAO...it just feels like MMO but worse than SWTOR - their own MMO. I will be refunding the game until all this is fixed, or if not will look in other titles to support.

Basically what Bioware did here, was to tell us to bend down little further while they are standing behind us unzipping..

The UI uses too big console fonts and nonsense menus-into-menus on PC. But why? I am not playing on TV, i am sitting in front of a 32" monitor.

If we get a patch where they fix the controls and the UI I will gladly give it a 8 or 9, with no problems.

But until then it is ridiculos console shooter.

I did not like the 'Hawke' idea, because it felt like playing someone else's story/character, but the actual character of Hawke was agreeable enough, if weirdly passive & lacking in any heroism/heroic journey.)

Inquisition may get better, but I doubt very much I'll play long enough to find out.

First, I hate the combat. I really despise it. It's awkward, slow, unsatisfying and feels badly conceived. (mage was best - I tried all but 2h warrior) Character creation is ok - the hair is horrible, however. (hair matters!)

However, while the combat would put me off, it's the story that really shocked me. Unlike the brilliant start of Origins, & the at least initially involving story of 2, I do not care in any way about Inquisition. It makes little sense - in the space of a few minutes (if that) you are moved from 'everyone hates you' to 'exalted one!' For no good reason, other than some people saw a glowing woman and decided she's Andraste. They'd seen her before, too, but you vaguely touching green stuff changed their mind. For some reason.

It has to get better, but I don't feel compelled to find out. My character is bland. Almost nothing. Whether elf or Qunari - just - eh. (and their voices are all the same between races, so - eh. That's ok, but certainly isn't impressive..) You get drawn into the 'Inquisition' - again, for some reason, with no real input of your own.

Truly, most off-putting is your first companion, Cassandra. I absolutely loathed her - and I say this as a feminist type myself. She seems to be yelling at you constantly, she's abusive, she's sneering, she's obnoxious. I've heard people say you have to read the comments, & the only response to that is, "No." If I wanted to spend hours with an angry companion, I could - I don't know - hang out in the subway! Or DMV.

The name, too, remains questionable. Joining & recruiting into something called 'The Inquisition' could be comic, but doesn't exactly inspire confidence. If I can't scream, "NOBODY EXPECTS...!" then it doesn't work. Neither does Cassandra's incessant 'Most Holy' comments. She comes off as an angry fanatic, & I don't care if her back story involves sad puppies. It's obnoxious, & reason to avoid.

Maybe the action is better on consoles - but I don't enjoy console games. Either way, the characters & story really lack whatever it takes to gain interest & keep it, & get me, at least, to play again.
