There is a huge difference between the second game and the first game. The second game had its frustrating parts but somehow I was able to finish it but there is no way I can finish this game. As a series, it's already too complicated and bad. Just play the second game and skip the others Expand

I dont know how a game can be so good and bad at the same time.
Story: Um, youre saving time. But you cant exactly pinpoint where the areas are that you'll need to go to, so you should just do everything you can. (EVERY.SINGLE.QUEST.) But that doesnt really solve the issue. Its like animal-crossing length. You'll tiptoe toward saving the Riv-earth.

Combat: So good and so bad. It isnt that the game does anything spectacular, and in fact its really unbalanced in the same way Etrian Odyssey games dont have balance. If you wander into the next area youll get smacked down in a split second. The combinations make sense.. and it isnt that the game is doing anything AMAZING, its just that every other RPG seems to NOT do combinations well. Or at all. Combat is boring. But makes sense. Enemies are tough. But the RNG is on your side.
Its really so good and so bad but so boring that.. it just kinda works.

Sound and graphics are fine. No complaints.

Gameplay: Hold alt to highlight items on the ground. Youre welcome.
TAKE YOUR TIME in combat. You'll misclick enemies ALL the time and walk behind them instead of attack. Its insane how small of a 'window' you seem to have when picking up items or clicking enemies. Sometimes it works. Sometimes you gotta hunt for it. Hit B to go top-down and that helps. But only so much. The inventory management is tedious. But okay. The spells are.. present. The first hour you play should be there to show you what NOT to choose. Which is okay for any RPG, the classes and skills you thought would be useful are actually complete garbage. Ranged is OP. Spells are OP. Healing is a chore, but you dont have to worry about mana. So.. there's that.

I chose this game to have free reign in a world where I could do anything I wanted. I ended up.. playing rock paper scissors and doing hit-n-run tactics in half the battles. I'm not disappointed, I'm just not finding this game to be anything special. It doesnt get anything wrong, it just .. isnt my cup of tea. Its like a moon pie. Yeah, it tastes okay. Yeah, its sugary and fluffy and .. okay, I guess. I just dont want one. I never want one. I'll try one.. but it isnt what I'm after. Its food, and I'll eat it.. but.. "eh".
DOS:EE is my moon pie. I dont want one, but I'll eat it if I'm really hungry and thats all there is.

The game literally is not playable. I am a huge fan of divinity 2 and baldurs gate, but this game is not balanced, every trap kills you instantly and the your combos doesn't always work as they should. Most of the times I find myself saying ' hey why didn't it work this time?'. Don't buy it, go play baldurs gate 3 or divinity 2.

Game is fun, quests are great and there’s A LOT moral decisions and ways to finish your quest.
If it wasn’t for the implementation flaws, this game could be best thing I’ve ever played.
So why the low-ish score ? Walk/run speed. Seriously, they crawl. Everything could move 50% faster. At least out of combat. This is like controlling 4 snails. Voice over during conversations. While

So why the low-ish score ?

Walk/run speed. Seriously, they crawl. Everything could move 50% faster. At least out of combat.
This is like controlling 4 snails.

Voice over during conversations. While it adds immersion, it totaly breaks your concentration.
They speak so slowly with long pauses, I often finished reading 5 lines while the VO was reading second line of text.
No to mention how it confuses you when you hear something you read 5 seconds ago.
I have literally refused some side-quests just so I don’t have to listen to that NPC anymore.
“I heard there are orcs on the beach.” – read this sentence. Read it so that it takes you 10 seconds to read it. This is voiceover in the game.

Clumsy mechanic in combat. A lot of mistakes due to misclicking.
Animations of standing enemies.. the enemy is swinging a little on its place. That’s ok, it looks real.
What’s not OK, is to aim and find yourself clicking on the ground next to enemy due to its stupid animation moved a little right away from your cursor.
Your archer moved next to enemy, you lost action points, Load game.

Inventory. Every char has its own inventory, crafting slkills etc.
You cannot sell junk from all party at once. You have to move the stuff to one character an then sell. Or sell portion of ones inventory, then switch to next etc.
This is even worse in crafting. If one character does not have all resources in his inventory he cannot craft it. You have to get out of crafting UI, move all stuff to its inventory, craft again.
Same goes for skill levels for certain actions like lockpicking. You have to have correct character highlighted and that char has to have picklock in his very own inventory.
Yes it’s realistic, but it’s FRUSTRATING. It’s a game full of magic and orcs and they try to be realistic with this ?

Final result, game is great. It’s fun, but it has very weird way to stretch the gameplay to 300 hours. You basically kill 100 hours just by micromanaging inventory and another 50 hours just because you ae walking like a snail.

I only made it halfway before quitting, mainly due to frustration with what I think of as "implementation issues".

    Things that can improve imho:

    * Auto-saving: I had to replay several encounters because I forgot to save after boss battles. This wasted hours of time.

    * Awkward controls: For some reason it is very easy to miss-click things. On several occasions I wanted to attack a monster, but ended up moving my character. There was no good auto-saving, so this caused a lot of backtracking.

    * Bad inventory management: I literally lost things. I only found out (after about 30 hours of gameplay) that you can sort the inventory.

    * Bad progression system: The progression system caused game-play to become repetitive. Instead of evolving new abilities as the game progress, and in the process changing game-play, you have to buy "skill books". This has the problem of sometimes not being able to find vendors, and having no idea what skills follow on each other. I would have liked a skill tree. I found myself still playing as I did in the beginning after 30 hours.

    * Trash collecting: I ended up picking up things like cooking pots and beer mugs, which had no real value in the game.

    * Missed items: It is possible to miss parts of the game by forgetting to pick up key items that lie around the map. After that you have to do a lot of Googling to figure out what went wrong.

    * The story: I do not like 100 hour long games where nothing in the story changes since about 5 hours in. The story roughly follows this recipe: You are going to save the world by doing X: X consists of 4 things and will be stretched out over 100 hours. Along the way you will to "filler quests" to fill up your experience bar. This is not really story telling to me - it's like the Wheel of Time getting stretched out over 15 books.

    * Map interaction: You should be able to fast-travel to waypoints by clicking on them.

This game could have been good, but how would I know.
I couldn't even get passed the first murder part.
A waste of $40 and I did what every guide told me to, but nothing happened, so the game itself doesn't even work for me

This game is horrifically unbalanced, poorly designed turn-based combat and otherwise lackluster in every way other than the modding support. This is not an old school RPG like others have claimed. It is the devs lazily throwing stuff out without balancing and saying it is "old school". In old school you didn't continually face twice as many enemies as your party and always several levels higher. Each combat is a luck-based gamble. Sure, combining attacks is advertised but this is utterly useless when, no matter what your attributes are, you consistently have to attack last and by that time every enemy has already charmed, stunned or feared your party. Furthermore every enemy has way more attacks then any of your characters irrelevant of their level. Your characters can basically either move or use an attack each turn. Meanwhile I've seen whole packs of enemies move all the way across the screen and then still be able to attack 2 or 3 times and basically reduce your characters down to nothing in 1 turn.

This game is utter garbage. It doesn't matter about the story, environment or anything else if every combat encounter is a gamble. This isn't fun, this is bad development and testing.

Don't even go into the bad character designs that really don't provide any true value to your character. The leveling is horrificly slow to the point where I'm almost to the end of the game and I'm only level 12. At this point you haven't even hit the top tier of your skills yet. The RPG aspect is bad.

I am done with the Divinity series and Larian in general. Thanks for destroying a series that was going good.
