    The game is very detached from what Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction set out to be, highly customizable and intimate while Diablo 3 deters from that. Blizzard supplements the phrase 'Steamlined' instead of 'simple', in which it is. Diablo 3 has been simplified from previous sequels. Your character skill points (dex, str, chr, etc) are standardized and placed for you according to your class, similar to WoW where you have no choice over where your points should be allocated. Some people may actually like this change because to them the latter system may have been obtuse, complicated and confusing. Indeed which it was but if not only to separate the leaders from the followers. You could truly hone your character to formula 1 precision. They've replaced the system with runes instead of innate character stats. While the runes work, they are not as in-depth as precision stat stacking and because of this Diablo 3 will not have a life span of 10 years unlike it's predecessor. While D2LoD was very much an item game, Blizzard has redirected its focus and taken some scripts from it's biggest success which is World of Warcraft in which character skills and stats mean little in D3 as the Loot is now you're best chance of success for stats and skill is of little importance. Blizzard also claims Diablo 3 is run on a custom game engine which in truth is a blatant lie. The game is very clearly ported from Blizzards Warcraft engine, the texture resolution is quite poor, the games world geometry system is a positive match to World of Warcraft. They chose not to use a different art design studio and thus the game looks like an eerily match to World of Warcraft's art design. Overall the graphics are very poor especially for a game that is released in 2012 where the expectations are quite high. Another displaced World of Warcraft correlation that does not necessarily suit the Diablo franchise is the implementation of Arenas. The premise, principle and rewards are tit-for-tat straight out of World Of Warcraft. Special Titles, Special Trophies, Awards, Arbitrary Arena Points used to purchase Armors and Weapons. Blizzard didn't bother innovating on the front, they just literally ripped the system from their Mega-Successor. There is no mention of open world PVP whatsoever, otherwise known as 'Duels' in D2LoD that made it wildly successful and addictive, they've dropped it entirely in favor the lacking arena system in which they repeated the exact same behaviour in World of Warcraft. Blizzard has not given a sober coherent statement as to why the Singleplayer mode was omitted stating issues with piracy and issues with the core-gameplay in which case is classic Blizzard. Remember when Starcraft 2 couldn't have LAN play because it was too advanced and too hard to incorporate then? Which brings me to my next point;

If things are so hard to implement then what makes Blizzard believe they will be able to control a cash based auction house and that people will not circumvent the system?

I have a lot of issues with the game, mostly the shallow over-simplified character system, shallow gameplay, shallow story (which is just awful in modern times) and art direction/style. It would have done Blizzard well to keep the original Diablo 2 LOD developers but 10 years ago after their acclaimed success Blizzard shut down that studio and let the creators go. Which in my opinion was a disaster.

Diablo 3 may be a great financial success but in its current form, it is an unworthy successor to the Diablo franchise and Blizzard have come full circle onto themselves. They started losing it with World of Warcraft and now they've lost it with Diablo 3. If you enjoy an over-simplified, shallow character system, bad inventory system and non-existent story compared to Diablo 2 LoD then this game maybe for you. However if you enjoyed the depth of Diablo 2 LoD you will be unfortunately disappointed with Diablo 3.

A big disappointment for all of us who played DII for days on LAN. Blizzard has tried to please everyone who buys the game but the continual compromise leaves DII as the much superior game. The most damning thing I can say about Diablo III is that I will only play it once.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Diablo 3 is an average game and overall it is very disappointing. It is very short, the main game can be finished in 20 hours. Relying on repeat runs of the same game with difficulty settings changed feels like a cop out. Graphically the game is not impressive character sprites are small and difficult to see. The game play was very repetitive your abilities may vary but every character type is a killing machine and you essentially mow through similar looking monsters using the same abilities over and over from the beginning to the end with a few bosses in between to interrupt the monotony or boredom? that sets in. The story is average and it even rips off Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. At the end you feel unfulfilled and maybe even ripped off, did I just play an expansion or something? The cut scenes are gorgeous as expected and may be the best part of an average game for Blizzard. If it were any other company this game might deserve a 7 or 8 but by Blizzard standards this game is a 2 or worse. After 12 years is this the best they could do? Overall very disappointing. Expand

Bad always online DRM for a single player game with optional coop.
    Bad log in servers implementation.

Terrible Titan Quest clone that requires you to install the game onto a flash drive just to prevent the framerate stutter. Or splash out on an SSD hard drive. Either way is a little awkward for those of us with normal hard drives.

Absolutely abysmal. To pay £45 for a game and be unable to play the single player mode because they are an imbecile company who learn nothing from their previous highly anticipated launches.

Disgraceful fail. They don't even deserve to take on the Diablo legacy - it's not like any of hte same designers are involved anyway.

There is an argument that the online requirement is not DRM, but to protect the real money auction house. What that fails to account for is how simple it would be to exclude offline loot from eligibility on the auction. Just like how achievements work.

This sets the scene for several different scenarios where you might not actually be able to even play the game, even if just to tinker around with character generation or play through the whole game once-through in some remote place.

The skills and statistics on the items have been homogenized and dumbed down, big time, ostensibly to make the game more appealing to the masses. And the skills aren't very exiting either. You get all exited to get a new ability, only to find out it doesn't work well at all with the other abilities you have, or is barely different from the ability you were already using, and thus superfluous. To be fair Diablo 2 had a few skills like this as well, but at least you had a feeling of control as you stepped past them to fill the other more useful abilities with more points, or experimented with different 'builds'. You'll find not much for builds in this game --- the metagame surrounding Diablo 3 is pretty much non-existent.

The dungeons are also far too long, and you can go for a good 20-30 seconds down a hallway without encountering a single monster. Or sometimes you encounter like... 4 monsters, kill them in 1 second if you're a melee class, or 10 seconds if you're a sorcerer or demon hunter, and move on. No, you don't want to be a ranged class right now in this game...

On the plus side, yeah, it can be fun to blow up lots of baddies. It's just too bad there's not much statistical depth or story behind you doing it. It could have been alot better.

    * The graphics are an upgrade from D2 but lets be honest, they'd have to be since D2 is more than 12 years old at this point. The graphics are nice but not mind blowing. I do however like the destructible environment. * Like other Diablo games the game is addictive. At least until you reach Hell or Inferno (depending on your ability) where the game kind of loses it's appeal. Trash mobs that are more powerful than Diablo become somewhat common as well as being one shot by most of them. It eventually becomes much easier to just buy gear upgrades which again kills and replay value. Cons
*Despite Blizzard's mantra "when it's ready" and its 10 year development cycle this game wasn't ready when it was released. Blizzard hyped release parties but because of server problems (even when playing solo) most people couldn't even log into the game for the first few days. Some people say that this should be expected but I call it unacceptable. If a game is released then that means that it has Blizzard stamp of approval. * There's absolutely no need to require a constant internet connection to play this game in single player mode. This means that at some point in the future, even if it's 20 years from now people who purchased this game and have the CD won't be able to play it any more. * The auction house ruins a game that pretty much entirely based on gear. * The idea to not make any items BoP or BoE blows my mind. This means that every item that ever drops in the game for every player will always exist in the economy unless someone purposely vendors or salvages it. Think about that. Every item ever dropped. * The talent trees are a step backwards from that of D2. * The replay value is a lot less than that of D2.

Lets be honest, this game is the successor to two of the greatest games in the history of PC gaming. It has some monstrously huge shoes to fill and it falls completely short of even remotely comparing to its predecessors in terms of quality and replay value. No more manual designation of character stats every level, no more skill trees full of synergies and possibilities, no more mountain of exciting gem damage type/rune word combinations to experiment with. There is no longer a real sense of choice in the game. You unlock every skill as you level (only a handful of which you will ever want to use) and you can change everything about your character at the drop of the hat, thus decisions carry no weight and lack any real sense of permanence. Because of the new skill setup you will only ever make one character of any given class and he will be virtually identical to every other character of that class out there. There is absolutely no point to making a second barbarian (saving blizzard plenty of money on server storage costs no doubt). You dont take any true pride in your build because it is not a unique and clever creation like the ones you made in D2. Finally, the auction house, short acts, and horrible drop rates suck any remaining fun out the slaughter. To all the individuals out there who are upset at seeing all these low scores, I'm sorry if this or other simliar reviews get under your skin, because I know I would be pissed if people where trashing a game I loved too. The cartoonish style only serves to ruin any of the oppressive feelings it tries to conjure in deep dungeons and completely removes any feeling of threat when you face those cute little giant demon bosses. What could have been a visceral experience is now a slightly gory children's show. I'll give the animations a nod, though. They seem to be top notch and indicative of the quality we could have gotten elsewhere too.

I won't speak much about the sound. It's quite good and holds its own.

The gameplay however... oh dear the gameplay. I don't know how to say this without my brain trying to herniate itself. They managed to dumb down Diablo. I didn't know it was even possible. One of the simplest and most straightforwards games in the world got dumbed down to anancephalic levels. They have completely removed stat allocation and skilltrees. You don't make a single choice throughout the entire game. Every skill, every rune, every slot and everything is handed to you as you level up. No choices to make, nothing. They try to make it seem to matter by restricting you to only using six at a time but when you can exchange the skills and runes in seconds it becomes completely worthless. A level 30 Wizard will be exactly the same as every last level 30 wizard out there. Every Barbarian is the same as all other Barbarians and nothing will distinguish you from the rest except how much money you've spent on the auction house. Blizzard once set the standard for Hack n Slash. Now they lowered the bar until it was just discarded entirely in favor of a pillow on the ground. The game is now too easy, too short, too dumbed down and frankly too bright and fluffy. This is not Diablo. Blizzard has failed us.

Pay 2 Win. Insane always-on DRM. Completely dumbed down gameplay. Cartoonish style. A hideous game.

I was young and creeped out by the scary music, gothic theme, monsters etc.. Not to mention the scary lore which I read off the manual. But no matter how scared I was, I couldn't stop playing. Its a feeling I'd never experienced before. Being from a small town in India, I didn't get a chance to buy the full version for a few more years. When I finally saw the game at a store, I got my parents to buy it for my birthday. The game kept me hooked on single player for atleast a year. That was when read about Diablo 2 online. I looked for a copy in all nearby stores to no avail. I finally got a vendor to ship me the collectors edition for Rs. 4000 (around 100 US Dollars back then) in 2006, around 5 years after it was released. When someone is that desperate to play a game, that shows how good it is (I spent almost all savings I had at that point for this game). Broadband connections were very expensive in India and the single player was all I needed. I played multiplayer a few times but it never appealed to me much. Then, when Blizzard announced Diablo 3, I was one of the happiest people in the world. Despite being turned off by the cartoonish graphics, I trusted Blizzard to deliver. A day one purchase, definitely. Imagine my horror when they announced that Diablo 3 required a constant internet connection for offline single player. And they lied off their face that is wasn't DRM and gave absurd reasons to defend their decision. Do they think everyone has unrestricted access to high speed internet worldwide? What about people in universities and offices behind firewalls? What about people in underdeveloped and developed nations? What about people who are travelling to remote places and want a way to free themselves from boredom? Don't we all deserve to play your game. The solution was simple - store single player characters on clients and multiplayer characters on servers. But no, Blizzard decided to screw their true fans. I can't understand why some gamers are choosing to defend Blizzard on this. Is it to make you feel better for having wasted your money on this crap? If you had given me another expansion of DIablo 2 for 60 dollars, I'd have bought it. I'm not going to bother pirating this game and ruining my sweet Diablo memories with this WoW clone. Even though I don't like the colourful graphics of Torchlight either I'm going to buy it anyway for obvious reasons. Expand

Voice acting is staid. The RPG elements, as others have pointed out, esp. the skill trees, are watered down, restrictive and mostly uninteresting. Character and plot progression are narrow and over-directed. Dungeons and environments are used and re-used ad nauseum (did they not learn from DA2?). Despite all these shortcomings I continue to play it; continue to click, click, click away, going on 16 hours now. The combat, power animations and baddie destruction is slick and fully satisfying, despite it all coming down to mindless button mashing. I'm compelled by some powerful Pavlovian impulse that Blizzard has tapped into (and that I was somehow immune to with WoW and Starcraft). So I've resigned myself to finishing the story and then perhaps playing some co-op, although I suspect the screen will be a complete mess of explode-y, obscuring animations when I do. This should have been avoidable. Blizzard already runs the largest MMO on the planet, WoW. They also launched StarCraft II which required gamers to be connected to play Single Player and started with multiplayer from day one. That launch did not turn into the catastrophe Diablo III's did.

Blizzard's games have been intertwined with servers since the original Diablo and the launch of Battle.net. They're pretty much experts in this department by now.

Then there's the stress test and the pre-sales data. Either Blizzard rushed the launch of an already delayed game without the proper infrastructure in place, or the company made a bottom line call to just ignore the numbers. Either way, they totally dropped the ball. They apologized, but did so in a less than sincere way, with some jokes, and stating they thought they overshot the server stress-load estimate.

    Now, the DRM.

One commenter compared buying a video game to buying a car, while another said you cannot compare the two.

What makes this different than a car? I get to test-drive a car. And not just a piece of the car, the whole car. I can take it on the freeway, try out the AC, play with the gadgets, everything. Then, I can decide whether or not to buy it. If I do buy it and decide within so many days I don't like it, I usually can return it or exchange it, especially if it's brand new.

Diablo III on the other hand... I cannot really test play the game before launch. Even if I play the first couple of hours, I will be disappointed. I'll barely be able to touch the tip of crafting available, the battles will seem very mundane and repetitive, the story not all that compelling, the crypt and graveyard graphics a bit dull.

So, I buy the game. If I don't like it, I cannot return it. I cannot exchange it. $60 down the drain. I cannot even sell the game to someone else.

Many positive player reviews dismiss the negative ratings as simply disgruntled players who could not jump right into the game on midnight on launch day. But if you actually read those reviews, you'll find them littered with other complaintsâ

I have played the game almost through hell in four days and this is what I think...

There is early game and end game, but nothing in between. You start off enjoying the experience and story, then you proceed to nightmare and hell difficulty to grind levels and finally when you're 60 you either try to complete inferno difficulty or you grind elite/champion monsters to get loot buffs that you use to take down bosses and get better than average loot.

As stated, there's no midgame, there's nothing to do but grind your character to level 60 and replay all the things you beat on normal, which had no challenge. The "good" loot is very far in between and there is no satisfaction in taking down bosses until you're level 60, since they drop nothing of value. The skill system is very varied and I'd say most abilities are competently balanced, but as always there are specific combos that just work best and if you're going to have that instead of changing between abilities to adapt to situations, then you might as well have kept the old skill system, assigning points. The greatest challenge in Diablo has always been randomly overpowered champions/elites and never the bosses and D3 keeps this approach, giving ridiculously overtuned special powers that can have devastating effects depending on what you play. The thing is that you can't outplay these monsters if they have a certain combos of abilities and at present they too hard a challenge at higher difficulties. While bosses are still very difficult at higher difficulties, they are manageable and you will never lose because because of unfair ability combos.

The game is overpriced, the servers are unstable and currently make you unable to have a chance at playing hardcore, since you are likely to die from lag even in a singleplayer game. You cannot kick friends or block friends from joining your game, which has been a problem since people will often join your games randomly, even though you only know them from a different game or want to play by yourself.

If Diablo 3 and Diablo 2 came out at the same time, and graphics were not in question, then Diablo 2 would be the far superior game. This isn't nostalgia talking, this is easy to compare since Path of Exile just had an open beta and heavily relies on the old mechanics and playstyle. People have been saying that Torchlight 2 wouldn't have a chance because of Diablo, but Blizzard screwed this one up royally. They have gone far too mainstream this time and their mass catering has substantially hurt their own design and gameplay.

I am disgusted at the "professional" reviews that have given the game so high a score without touching the important factors. I suspect, however, that it is a fine console game and would be fit for that target audience, it should just have been named something else.

That said, MYRIAD features that existed 12 years ago in D2 were removed, some of which are the fundamental features that defined the franchise as unique and innovative (and it sure as hell wasn't the big bad guy). This is just a list of features that have been REMOVED that I can think of off the top of my head, not even counting the utter failure of most of the new features:

No random levels. No off-line mode, which can lead to INFURIATING gameplay, even in single player (when the servers are up at all). No runes or runewords. No jewels. Fewer gem types. Can't specialize your character's skills (which results in every character being EXACTLY the same minus equipment). Can't add sockets to an existing item (though to be fair this didn't come until the expansion, but even that was more than 10 years ago). There is NO USE WHATSOEVER for normal items any more after lvl 10, if so, why do they even drop at all and clutter up my user experience?

There are a few things they did right, the random Events being the big one, and even if they're largely worthless in gameplay, I like the account-wide leveling system for the stash/jeweler/smith.

However, I must make special mention of the graphics as a "new feature" that is utterly unacceptable. These are not "stylized", they're utter **** and a cop-out, and everyone at Blizzard who worked on them should be ashamed. Also, the ridiculous and embarrassing character design for monsters like The Butcher where he comes screaming in as this hideous giant bloated monster is like something a 13 year-old would have designed.

Final verdict: Blizzard wants to kill this game type of action adventure rpg so they can focus on their favorites Starcraft and Wow, and they're doing it very deliberately. Is it awful? No, but even if the game is very tactile and has a good presence, that impression wears off quickly and the user is left wondering where any actual depth of game play is supposed to be found.

Oh, and don't even get me STARTED on the DRM or auction house.

*** With each character you MUST start with normal difficutly... WTH???

All in all it seems like casual, single-player oriented WoW but without the large rich and interesting world to explore. You are limited to grinding though the same randomly generated environments at different difficulty levels.

It is still playable (I did spend 17 hours to beat it with DH char) but after 12 year wait for a company like Blizzard I'd call it a failure. It seems that they just wanted to supplement dwindling WoW revenue by doing a half-assed revivial of old and popular franchise.... Very disappointing...

Horrible. Graphics are ok, but very blurry. Why am I playing a blurry game at 1920x1080? No idea... Sound is awesome. Character and build customization are simplified, but that doesn't bother me too much, even in D2 the viable builds were only a handful and the rest were just ways to screw up your character, and I don't think anyone enjoyed grinding for another 2 months to make a new sorceress, only she spams lightning instead of frost. **** I don't mind the simplification. The atmosphere is fine, on par with D2 (of course not as dark and oppressive as D1). Can't comment on story, since I haven't finished it yet, can't comment on loot and AH either cause it will take months for a big portion of the loot to be discovered and for the AH to reach a "standard state" which could be a good or bad state, we just dont know yet. Overall, there are no moments where you are absolutely amazed, but the core of the game is solid. Expand

Granted, PVP in Diablo was never that great, but, huh?) it's pretty obvious that they're trying to take as much of your money possible with as poor of a product that they can feasibly manage. Aside from a monthly subscription, this game was constructed from beginning to end out of a playbook to maximize addiction and minimize reward. In other words, Koreans will love it.

So you've already spent your money? That's fine. You get to click things, and, like Diablo 1 and 2, the first few sections are actually quite fun. However, by the time you've reached the second act, the world will have grown stale, and the old monsters you were clicking on will be replaced by new monsters to click on. It's a gameplay style that grows old fast, and even though I haven't played a point-and-click hacknslash for years, it felt just as boring as the day I put down the last one.

In conclusion, Diablo 3 is a boring game meant to take your money if you have an addictive personality. There is no fun here, only grind.

Diablo 3 is a polished but ultimately empty experience, I think the main question here is what the hell (pardon the pun) Blizzard spent the last 5 years doing, because it certainly wasn't producing any form of innovation. Much like Starcraft 2 D3 is simply a lazy rehash of it's predecessor. I really liked the art and story. That said, it doesn't advance the genre and the single player online-only DRM is a huge insult to fans. It just looks like a big corporate prank on the players who've stood by Blizzard for years (and with good reason). It's all about the gameplay. No gameplay = no love. Aim for a good game Bliizard, not just the money and DRM.

I picked up Torchlight when it came out, and this is almost the same game. And yes, I know Torchlight was a Diablo clone, but the difference is that Torchlight came out over 2 years ago, and cost a third of what Diablo 3 costs. And in some ways, Torchlight is a better game. Items seem to have a more profound effect, sound, music, and graphics have more character, and you have choices when you level up. The lack of persistent choices, and limitations on the number of active abilities, is particularly bewildering. Admitted, I'm still at a pretty early level, but it doesn't seem like these aspects will improve very much.

As for the cash store, it doesn't really bother me. After all, it's largely a single player game, so if someone wants to spend money on gear, it's no skin off my back. In fact, the idea of being able to sell stuff for real money is alluring. However, Blizzard keeps comparing the anticipated market to WoW, and I have trouble imagining a large market for items in a non-MMO. Acquiring top-level gear in an MMO is difficult, and by design, the game never ends so there is always a market. I don't foresee Diablo III being so infinitely playable, nor your achievements and gear being so visible and important to other players, so why would anyone spend money on it?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Diablo 3. A game i had a lot of hopes for. When diablo 2 was still new and shiny, it was a MUST for me and many of my friend's, i remember before going to school at morning i stopped by a classmate...We played some cow runs and then went to school together, chatting all the way about how good the game is. Enough of that. I'll go trough some pointers about the game.

Story - Most important factor for me when choosing a singleplayer (This game does not have community and playing with friend's is not a benefit since you can only fit few of em)...Well story was bad, very bad...Not just a favorite "good" guy got turned into human like in B-Type Hollywood movie "You guys suck, i save humanity by going weak!" and other one died.

Gameplay & Difficulty - Gameplay was very nice for a while. After i hit lvl 60 i realized i was playing a very polished experience of "run trough everything". It was fun to get exp and unlock new stuff. After 60 rapidly everything is dumbed down. You don' get experience, you don't get new skills, no attributes and only way to progress you'r character is to get more items. I reached act 3 inferno. It was pretty challenging...It did not test my skills how i can time my spells or how can i ditch damage before an object hits me. It tested how good i can run and do few hits, then run even more...Do enough dmg in 5min's or start over.

Items & AH - Items...Legendary/Set item's has nice stats. Some of em has quite nice affixes...They are not very useful though...This game revolves around having very high dps weapon and as much of main stat you can muster. Then it's same old critical chance, critical damage and attack speed. So when you look for an item, you need same stat's you are having on you'r character right now, but with improved versions. Blizzard said that you don't need to go to ah/Rmah in order to progress...Well on my quest to find awesome items that will carry me trough inferno act 2...I farmed a lot and only found several good item's...For someone else. So natural progression...It's doable...If you'r butt can hold enough to farm same act for hours and hours...

    My real review:

This game is made for people who like's to grind same thing over and over without having no benefit if possibility for some real money cash is not counted for. You'r character wont progress and character will never be a unique in ways it was in Diablo 2. Everything is set the second you create an character and there is no customization (You can ink you'r gear, unless you like legendary quality....). I highly recommend for a person who isn't looking a game that last's long. Play the game trough and forget the thing...You will be satisfied, as a person who was looking for a game to play long time....Well let's just say i was stupid enough to fall for the trick that Blizzard can make awesome sequel. Graphics are okay in my opinion, sadly it's 2012 when they could push harder for better quality. But it's known fact that blizzard sacrifices graphics quality in order to get more people into the games. I learned my lesson...I will not buy a another blizzard product unless i see all fact's about the game. This game was unplayable for some time and looking at it's future it wont be a game most of us hoped it would be.

-not bad, they're a bit awkward, and the skills are a little dull, but i'll manage to compensate it with the correct stats
    Blizzard:
-Oh!...You werent informed? Our main costumers find the stat systems difficult to use,so there won't be stats...But hey,you will have a lot of runes and skills to make your character unique,it will be fine.

Ok at least the game is good right? NOPE. Nothing has changed from the the pile of horse manure the open beta game was...not that they could change the game drastically in half a month, so it was dead to begin with. Anyway, artistic style isn't as bad as people say it is. Blizzard has streamlined(a.k.a casualized) the game to hell and back, mind the pun. Linearized skill trees, huge base mana regen which kills the need to manage potions effectively, bland looking world, no innovation...and no killstreaks do not count as innovation neither does hit lever, **** falls on enemies count. Overall the game just feels lifeless. If you want innovation in the skill system play path of exile. The sphere-grid like passive abilities in game and the support skill gems/active skill gems combinations are very innovative and fresh. If you want a game that actually feels like Diablo 2 then play torchlight 2 from runic games(former blizzard north guys that had a huge hand in D2). From what I've played of the Torchlight 2 beta, there were drastic improvements on the first game and although I'm not sold on the cartoony art style, the game play is fun enough to keep me playing. The world itself is very expansive with terrain that look really good. All in all the beta was very satisfying and I've pre-ordered Torchlight 2. The only problem that remains is to get $60 worth of play time out of D3 before leaving it for good. Why will D3 be the same? Because when people start hitting infernal, everyone is forced to buy gold because the inflation will look like always in mmos, the best item will cost u a staggering 10 million gold.

The game may be good, I cant tell however, because there is TOO MUCH LAG IN MY SINGLE PLAYER GAME. Sloppy execution, who the **** knows about story, cant get 10 minutes in at a time.

Nothing to do at level 60. Do inferno over and over forever, cant even duel other players right now. so yeah have fun doing that storyline over and over hoping for good drops because 95% of the drops are not useful to anyone. Was fun at first but after 70 hours played I am bored with it.

NOT worth 60 dollars. WAY too short and missing many features that are "promised" by Blizzard as in you've gotta wait who know how many months for them to actually develop said features and implement them. In it's current state the game is just way too expensive for so little play time. No idea why Blizzard decided to release such an unfinished barebones game and decided to charge full price.

the game its very good but u cant play it with 400 ping to 1200. Today the game have 1200 ping to 1500. Blizzard gives no answers.. its amazing that this game took 9 years to be made...

The game is great. But the constant connection drop, is a pain in the ***. I can't even play single player without connection issues, I keep dying cause lag just hangs my player, and when It comes back I'm surrounded by enemies.
    Sucks, Sucks, Sucks.

The fact that this is a a single-player game that rREQUIRES you to connect to the Internet is horrible. As long as Blizzard continues this business model, they have lost me as a customer. If all game companies go this route, then I will find something else to occupy my time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I have been a Blizzard fan since they were making console games. It was a long time ago. I have seen over the time amazing game after amazing game come out from them. Until now. Don't get me wrong. Diablo 3 from a game play stand point is amazing. But thats were the good things end. Everything else is surprisingly average. The sound, the music, the voice acting, the graphics. All fail to impress in any way. There are glimmers of great in the sea of mediocrity but that doesn't make up for all the mess.

Speaking of a mess. The story is a disaster. It is so bad there is just no place to start. So i will just make a list of things it fails at: It fails:

    - at creating atmosphere
    - at creating scary villains
    - at making any kind of sense for the game
    - at making the player feel anything

So it pretty much fails across the board. All the things a story should do in a game context the Diablo 3 story doesn't do.

So what do we have in the end. A game with great game play, mediocre sound, music, voice acting and graphics and a story so bad it laughable. Buy it according to what matters to you in a game.

My one major complaint is that the game never feels very difficult, especially on Normal. There are frustrating moments, hordes of baddies, and increasing difficulty levels, but the same feeling of utter defeat never really happens as it did in the past.

For all the game's missteps, though, you certainly can't accuse Blizzard of phoning it in - if anything, the game suffers from the tendency to try a little to hard at times to evolve the design. [Aug 2012, p.61]

When it works, Diablo III is the best of the Diablo games. When it doesn't, all it does is make you mad. [July 2012, p.54]
