    Brilliant remake of one of the best games of all time. Playing with a controller feels amazing and makes it a whole new experience. Completely reinvigorating a timeless game.

    It seems this game got review-bombed because of a few hours of clunky start which is sad. Also people just hating blizzard to hate which is unfortunate because this game was made in a totally different studio that was only recently acquired.

    I myself had concerns about some of the art direction, but that all washed away once i started playing. There are still a few bugs and issues but they are very minor and I trust them to fix the issues in the next couple months. Items don't identify in the cube, the merc screen is not accurate. Mostly just the lobby system needs a more modern update to be able to quickly identify and join the right kinds of games.    … Expand

    This is the peak of remasters - exactly what everyone could ever hope for. Not going to let the hate for Blizzard change my opinion - the team who worked on this deserves a 10.

    Read why all those people give to the game such score, and read carefully. I was not able to play first day, but this is The Diablo Game which we all know and love. Gameplay = 10, Music = 10, Sound effects = 10, Replay ability = 10.     So if you loved D2/D2Lod you should love to play D2R.

    Also game for now is clean off bots (at least from public one) there are actual people (many of them) play the game. 11/10.

    This game is so good. The fact that it's not new is why. Sure they might have gotten their hooks into a few things but for the most part it's all here and looks amazing. It's one of the best remakes you will find. I'm having a lot of fun with it. Diablo III was boring to me, whatever I found next was more op than what I had currently. There was no real treasure hunt.

    This is how a remaster should look like. New graphics, some minor tweaks, and an option to go back to the old graphics of the game. It is kept as it was, only with new graphics and small improvements. Love it. If only other remasters were like this...

    Its not perfect, but its about as good as a remaster could be to a game from the year 2000. Review bombing because your mad at blizzard for reasons unrelated to the actual game is ridiculous. I've played for 20 hours and not had as much as a lag spike (although I'll admit maybe i'm just lucky). Any other technical issues will be worked out by Monday, and the game will continue to get better.

    The QoL features add an extra point (not having to keep Alt pushed to see the lot, minimap on corners, autopick gold, bigger and shared stash...)

    If you're fan of the original you will love Res.

    True, no mods and no TCP/IP. But let be honest, D2R aims to live online. Mods would just split playerbase, and while mods itself are ok, most AAA games are mod-less and are not review-bombed because that. Thats silly.

    Also not having tcp/ip seems just normal. More than 20 years has passed, while not a bsd thing itself, seems pointless to use it instead of B.net

    As said, D2R delivers. Keeps the D2 essence while updating it to modern times. A great job.

    Don't let the "BuT iTs Bli$$Ard...!!!" Hate fool you into thinking the game isn't great.    … Expand

    I've played Diablo 2 as one of my first PC games in PC club back in 1999. It was a world of wonders, grim caves and red skinned demons. Even to thus day that game was one if the best games ever made. Diablo 3 was such a disappointment. All i dreamed was to see return of Diablo 2 with a bit sharper picture. What was my surprise when i launched this remaster, oh my god! It looks so good, II've played Diablo 2 as one of my first PC games in PC club back in 1999. It was a world of wonders, grim caves and red skinned demons. Even to thus day that game was one if the best games ever made. Diablo 3 was such a disappointment. All i dreamed was to see return of Diablo 2 with a bit sharper picture. What was my surprise when i launched this remaster, oh my god! It looks so good, I haven't dreamed about this kind of graphics improvement! I can't even imagine how hard it was to recreate this game in a new graphic shell.
    Someone told that this game looks just like he remembers it looked back in the day and i can relate to that. Itls a magic. Thank you Blizzard! I've lost any interest in you since StarCraft 2 release (love that game), but now i see that i could give Diablo 4 a chance.    … Expand

    My favourite game of all time remastered, I am loving it! Can't wait for the online ladder feature to be released but completely understand they need to make sure it is as bug free and fair before introducing the competitive element.

The additional mechanics they have addded for ease of life    DIablo 2: Resurrected, review.

    As the game stands the graphical overhaul and design makes it the best looking ARPG on the market, while it is needed due to slightly dated mechasnics at stands alone in terms of how the original games ballance, skills and difficulty arc is something that every modern ARPG has failed to master.

    The additional mechanics they have addded for ease of life are fine and make the game feel modern, while for the time being they have held back enoug to please long term fans and new players alike.

    The initial issues with teh servers, by blizzard standfards was managed exceptionally well, all being resolved within a day. Leaving the only real outstanding gripe that of mod suuport.

    It's not perfect, but as a remamster it should be considered a remasterpeice.    … Expand

    I don't understand where comes all this bad and mean reviews. We talk about Diablo II !!! Huh - This is the series, which invented more or less ARPGs. The Remaster is beautiful. The Art is a delight and the "switchin" literally anytime to the old graphics is a Bomb !. I didn't play Diablo II back then, but I play it now and I LOVE to play and the Virus hit me already.....just one more RUN ;-)

Complaints from buffoons unable to figure out how to hotkey function keys, and upset there isn't a tutorial for a very easy game to learn (which would take away from the great immersion and mood of the game). Other complaints are from whackjobs who expected a fully new experience in a remastered classic video game! They want personal loot, handshake PVP so their feelings don't get hurt when another player kills them, soulbound items, greater rifts, endgame maps, increased drop rates so they're getting a unique drop every few seconds, and more! Well there is already a game out there with this. It's called Diablo 3. So why can't they just go play that instead of trying to ruin the fun for the rest of us with better tastes? Then they come on here and downvote this masterpiece giving it a zero, which is an absolutely ridiculous score for such great work Vicarious Visions put into this game. You can tell VV were super fans of this series with the amount of detail they put into it. It's insulting and absurd that so many are review bombing this.    … Expand

    After 10 hours played Diablo 2: Ressurected. I can say this remaster has a HIGH QUALITY! Better Graphics then Diablo 3.

    Fantastic game, I really love playing Diablo II (first timer). I´m lucky and don´t have any connection issues. If you like Action RPG, you must try this game. On pc, it runs great ( i have an old computer and can play on high settings), you can use a gamepad if you want.

Prefiero esto que a su secuela... el muy comercial Diablo 3, pero nada que ver con su precuela, que SI revolucionó la industria y creó un género al que le denominan "Juego al estilo Diablo".     Pathetic rewiev bombing, server issues have nothing to do with game itself, so chill kiddos and wait a couple days before everything settles. Thats why they didnt launch ladder from the start. Take a couple of deep breaths and do not go cry everywhere about it.

    D2 Resurrected is just D2 HD edition with new graphics. And also, have you tried playing D2 last year? No one played. The remastered edition has breathed fresh air into the game which will keep it alive for a few years longer and that is great because D2 is a great game.

    I don't know what ppl were expecting... D4? Go play that when it comes out. This is only D2 as advertised and it plays great, works great, graphics look awesome and also you can switch between legacy and modern graphic with the touch of a button. I guess ppl are butthurt cuz they have to pay a little bit (40 pounds is a little steep but for a legendary game like D2 it's worth it as it's one of the best games that ever came out)

    Go buy it and play it or at least wait untl a price drop. But i don't advice that. Save money and buy it ASAP.    … Expand

    They did an amazing job!!!! Just like the old game but visually pleasing to look at! That's what we wanted!!!! This game is so much better than D3 or much of the "new stuff" that comes out these days. It's deep min/maxing. You can actually die in this game! To all the haters out there, move on. This game isn't for you.

    I honestly don't know why this game has such poor rating here on Metacritic. I was on the fence when I bought because I tend to check the scores in here first, so I asked a couple of friends about their experience instead and they were all raving about it. I'm glad I pulled trigger and bought it - both online and offline modes have been a ton of fun. Today the servers were intermittently down for some schedule maintenance (which was clearly stated from the dashboard) but that was it - I joined it after that time period and it was working flawlessly. I'm really loving the gameplay here and the graphics are on point. Game runs smooth as butter on my computer, no stutters/crashes whatsoever. Seriously, there is nothing to complain here. Buy it and disregard haters/whatever label we can use for this people.… Expand

    Very nice game, a huge nostalgia trip. There was a rough launch, but as of now it is good, bugs are minor and generally, it plays well. Gamepad support on PC is nice to have, you can finally chill while running MF.

    Diablo 2 is a timeless masterpiece, and it is now remastered for modern hardware. It is everything I expect from Diablo 2 with some quality of life improvements. There are some server side issues related to the new Battle.net and cross save features, but the game itself is preserved as it should be.

    First off, I would urge you to ignore all of the review bombs from people with such a sense of entitlement and a disconnect from reality that they expected the launch of a new online multiplayer game to have zero issues, immediately at launch.

    Anyone that's gamed for a decent number of years knows to sit back for the first few hours and chill, though with that said I was able to play immediately at launch for a period of 90 minutes, until a maintenance window rolled out that sorted the server issues and off I was playing again thereafter.

    Secondly, this game runs like an absolute dream on a non-potato PC, for example:

    1) I've not experienced a single instance of FPS drop
    2) I haven't once lost my connection
    3) Only 1 single game crash in almost 1 week of playing.
    4) No technical issues in anyway whatsoever

    This game does EXACTLY what it says on the tin, it's a remaster of an all time classic and possibly the best ever ARPG, with some added improvements such as shared stash, ladder runewords included in non ladder, the Lord of Destruction Expansion bundled in and some awesome looking new character models.

    I love the fact that you can press 'G' at any point to toggle between old and new graphics too, this really shows how great a job they've done.

    The core game is still exactly the same and I've been thoroughly enjoying my time on it thus far. Player base seems huge, plenty of people and games around to trade, haven't seen any bots at all yet and the experience since launch has been all round awesome.

    I'm extremely hard pressed to understand why some people are leaving bad reviews because:

    - They can't see certain body parts of female characters anymore.
    - They expected no maintenance or issue fixing upon immediate launch
    - They aren't able to abuse other players in game by swearing at them anymore
    - They are leaving negative reviews on any Blizzard game, due to a totally separate issue that Blizzard have been facing recently.

    The user scores on this sight are NOT a reflection on the game or the launch whatsoever, they are a reflection of how entitled a lot of gamers have become, and how a mass of people will group together to target a game made by a company with review bombs, based on a completely separate issue.

    Great game, no issues at all, works exactly as expected - this is coming from someone who took a week off work to play it the minute it launched, so I already have a very high number of hours put in.

    You won't regret purchasing this game, it's brilliant!    … Expand

    Absolutely incredible. Its annoying seeing all these racist and sexist incels getting to trash the game and give it a 0 of ridiculous things that have nothing to do with the game itself. Vicarious and Blizzard perfectly revitalized a classic masterpiece and its better than ever.

    I want to be very clear: we will not get amazing remakes like this if petulant children throw fits like this and drag down sales because of it. We can’t let them win, and I’m here yelling in to a cavern of screams to beg you to give it a shot. The technical details of the launch were annoying, I guess, I never really experienced them as I waited a whole day to play it. Wow.

    Adding a 10 here to offset the turbo virgins who apparently all decided to buy this remaster to see their favorite female characters visually enhanced. If your biggest complaint with a video game is that the women aren't attractive enough, you really need to re-evaluate your sweaty, pathetic existence.

    This is one of the best games I've ever played. It is like the original, but just with awsome graphics. It looks exactly like I imagined it in 2002. The launch was ok imho. The complains are ridiculous imho: I was not able to play the game online for 1 day. Then it was possible and worked well

    Very good remaster, almost perfect. So much effort put into it. Much better than this **** called Warcraft 3 Reforged. I wish the same team will improve WC3:R someday.

    I am a huge fan of the original, I've been playing it since it came out. Don't like all of the decisions but overall the game is a masterpiece.

    This is exactly what i was looking for in a remaster of this legendary game.

    Great graphics, sounds and those cinematic's, goosebumps.

    Even though modding has been dumped on i cannot allow that to take away from what a great remaster this is.

    Yes there is an element of nostalgia when playing this game. I was young back then so I didn't do a quarter what I have done in the past ~200 hours of playing the new version. It's been a blast and completely worth the money for me. The server stability has been terrible sure, but eventually the intern developers at Blizzard Activision will figure this out.     This is an amazing remaster! It keeps the feel of the original game while making it look modern and beautiful. I haven’t played Diablo 2 in 20 years but I got sucked right back in!

    A few minor server issues at launch because of too many players are not enough to bring this down.

    The game is simply amazing. It feels exactly like 20 years ago, plus some quality of life improvements. Usual server issues at the start were quickly resolved, and even though some bugs remain - the overall impression is the complete satisfaction.

    Iconic game from 2000 got great new look. Blizzard did great job, some QQL changes like auto gold pickup or expanded stash will make game more friendly in 2021. Big + are remastered cinematics. First day had some server problems but that is expected when milions players tried to log in and play. It should be fixed now.

    The game is good. There is no ground breaking problems. This new Blizz deserve a lot of negativity but in this case and with this game no. It is the same game as it was in 2001. It's not a remake!!!!! It is the same game but with a few plus ( stash size and erase the ladder only runes etc..) .

    The negative reviews come from people angry with Blizzard Activision. You cannot give a bad review of DIablo 2. This game is better than ever as it now comes with new graphics.

Rough edges is meant in a truly positive regard, as this was pretty much the Wild West of online RPGs. The ability to transition between legacy graphics and remastered graphics really makes you have appreciation for how they managed to make the game play exactly as it did 20 years ago while drastically improving the graphics. I look forward to many hours with this game. This is a true remaster, and this is exactly what true Diablo 2 fans will love.

    Just a little sidebar comment. The review bombs on this game are a bit ridiculous. The game did experience server issues at launch, but at most, I was unable to connect to a game for 15-20 minutes on maybe three occasions - inconvenient, but not game breaking, and it will stabilize in time (plus, its truly a remastered experience of D2, which always had server problems lol). I have had the game crash two times on me, which again, inconvenient, but its not game breaking and I trust it will be fixed in updates. All of the other complaints are just ridiculous, especially from people who stated that they played the original game!    … Expand

    Love the new visuals and the sound improvements. I've played both single player and multiplayer without issues and it's been super fun and satisfying. I like the automatic gold pickup and the upgraded stash as additional features and feel they do not detract from the game at all. Oh my god consequences for losing lol Take home look up instructional videos and adapt to the game mechanics. If you do you ll be surprised how much you ll enjoy it. Give it a chance.

    Theys did good game is fine and they resisted the urge to change too much. I look forward to more content like new acts and runes. Just wait till act 2 when you get horadric cube. Then you'll see the combinations are mind boggling.     Hell yeah! It brings back feelings, which was the same when i played original game long time ago. The same enjoyment as i returned back to 2000!
    I was playin' d2 in 3Dfx Glide engine, and was amazed by colors and grapgics, and bit later played on other video cards with directx. Well Glide was the best! And now it's the same as on Glide engine those days! All othes is an old good DIablo 2    Hell yeah! It brings back feelings, which was the same when i played original game long time ago. It worked great first half hour, then yes, got DC and stucked, bud after maintance same day all is working flawless and I am enjoing every minute. You dont see much possitive reviews because all of us are playing, not writing ;)
    How can someone here complain, that you are naked after death and consider himself as Diablo fan? It is not bug, it is how it was all the time! You are just kids, how wants everything easy and got all the best gear in one day - then play D3 which is also atleast 9/10 game.    … Expand

    Diablo II: Resurrected is far from perfect. The changes in character design are likely to rile up returning players, and the archaic gameplay probably won’t agree with younger generations weaned on more streamlined, sophisticated experiences. While I appreciate that this legendary title is now available in an improved format, it’s not a caveat-free recommend.

    Diablo II returns with refreshed graphics and unaltered gameplay (apart from some small improvements). It’s as fun as I remembered, so I quickly felt at home and gave in to nostalgia. However, it’s hard not to notice that beneath revamped visuals lies a 21 years old design. [12/2021, p.32]
