    This is an insanely good game. I spent 2000+ hours on it since release despite the fact that I prefer games with modern sci-fi theme without heavy RPG style progression systems. I don't like games with medieval or fantasy settings but this dark gothic horror style mixed with beautiful outdoor environments and amazing music creates an atmosphere that makes it difficult to stop playing. ItThis is an insanely good game. I spent 2000+ hours on it since release despite the fact that I prefer games with modern sci-fi theme without heavy RPG style progression systems. I don't like games with medieval or fantasy settings but this dark gothic horror style mixed with beautiful outdoor environments and amazing music creates an atmosphere that makes it difficult to stop playing. It is so immersive. Even simple things like standing in the town next to the campfire and organising my stash are a pleasant experience.

    It's fun to fight against the monsters that have very rewarding animations and sound effects when they take damage or die. The boss fights can be very difficult, sometimes they seem to be impossible to kill with characters that aren't levelled and geared up very well so the only choice might be retreating and coming back later with better skills or equipment (or another player with a stronger character if you play online). The upgrades to the equipment often feel powerful and meaningful. The items, the crafting and the related online economy and trading are amazing, they turn this game into a fantastic PvE looter.

    After realising how much I like this game I tried Diablo 3 too but that got boring after a hundred hours or so because it was too easy and the items were less interesting. The graphical detail and the art style are also better in Diablo 2 Resurrected.    … Expand

    Fantastic remaster, would be 10 out of 10 but some minor things seam to fit or were better visually in the original. Namely Mariuses movement in cinematics was better in original where it portrayed mad man, barbarian stronghold looked better in original it was weathered down and very old, remaster generally has problems with portraying weathered stuff.     The great remaster of the old love of mine. Bought three versions - Nintendo, PC and PS5. Yes it was unplayable on the Battlenet, and yes they made characters as old as the fans are right now. But god, I am writing this review after D4, bless the guys who did D2R

    Why was it necessary to make all the female characters in clothes and disfigure them. Beautiful sexy women have become either old women or freaks without breasts and asses. Ruined my favorite childhood game, don't care about my fond memories, thank you

    Bought this game and had alot of fun in the first few months. Nowadays the games economy has completely crashed because of botting. Probably around 97% of active players on battle.net are using some sort of botting tech. Blizzard doesn't really care much for the bots, because they ban them once in a while and they got to reinvest in new copies.     I think Blizzard did the massive amount of Diablo 2 fans and themselves a big favour by releasing this game. I find it plays exactly like the original but with better graphics.

    As much as I loved D2, I couldn't bring myself to go back and play it at the low resolution that it was originally released with. D2:R fixed that issue, and so much more. I will admit I didn't play this at launch because I only play ladder, so I completely bypassed all the server issues that occurred during the game's launch.     The only nagging problem I have with the game is that game finding is still a pain, with constant refreshing, and unfortunately seeing the same open games over and over again, some of them being third party sites trying to sell gold/items/whatever, and the games never seem to disappear.

    I would have given a higher rating, but during an internet outage awhile back, I wound up being unable to play the game, even single-player, because it required me to get the latest patch... which I couldn't because I had no internet. Instead, I went and played games from Steam, because at least that's a company that understands that sometimes your internet drops and doesn't force you to be online and have your games up to date... for OFFLINE play. Seems rather straightforward, but Blizzard today is no longer the company we grew up loving and rooting for.    … Expand

    Diablo 2 is an amazing game and yes some changes like the character's faces are ugly, but all that matters to me is the gameplay, story, graphics and soundtrack. And if this also matters to you, get the game.

    Completed Diablo for the first time. Played solo. The gameplay across all acts is boring. Repetitive actions all the time. The most exciting about this game is cinematics.

    Best diablo game out so far. That has decent graphics, at least! Unfortunately.
    And for the people being angry at blizzard: The remastered version is not even made or maintaned by them. Blizzard North made the base game and Vicarious Visions made the overlay.

If you think Blizzard changed anything good in the game – you horrible mistaken. Yes, they updated graphic but did not improve gameplay, did not fix many errors but bring only new, destroyed atmosphere of the game by censoring absolutely anything (blood, naked parts NPC and player, made player character ugly as hell) – even some spell’s animation looks even worse than back in 2000. If you ever loved Diablo 2 you will bring great respect to the developers of original game by not buying this garbage – do not bring any money to the company who just want to do nothing but steal your money by using your nostalgic feelings.… Expand

    I was having fun at some point, but then the game started to feel kinda repetitive. With friends, I wouldn't care, but playing solo evidenced it. Also, the storytelling could be better. I felt so disconnected from it, even trying to understand and engage as hard as I could.     Pretty good remaster in general. It got downvoted hard because of connectivity issues (which are still present, but way less severe), model design changes, some bugs (e.g. GPU usage) are annoying.

    But It's still old good diablo 2 in a modern wrap. Probably one of few good Blizzard releases in a couple last years. Because they haven't ruined the core of the game, lol.

    First off, I played the campaign with an offline character and it was a very good experience. About online play I cannot say anything. Offline is very solid though.

    So, this is a very good remaster of D2. Graphics are good, combat is fun, overall atmosphere is dark and mysterious. I you do all quests and some grinding, you will need 30-50 hours. Gpu usage is high, fan is working, gpu temp is not to high, and then after 10 minutes of playing it just drops to 30. And this is many many MONTHS AFTER the game is released. I tried posting on reddit. I tried an older game driver. I tried other things, nothign works.     The amount of crashes makes the game impossible to evaluate. I'm not even excited for Diablo IV, it's been way too much disappointments since Diablo III.
    It's a cashgrab. Go play something else, something that at least doesn't crashes 20 times a day.

    Well, at first the nostalgic feeling gets you, but god, it's getting old and I had a second thought on the Diablo iii gameplay on which I had been a bit hard at the time.

    Still it's a old good game but not sure that I'll finsih it or at least just with one class but after that I think I'll just wait for Diablo IV

Unfortunately, since the gameplay didn't change at all (which is the point of a remaster TBH), the age of the gameplay really feels, it's just not as fun to play as 20 years ago.     Constant disconnects and random crashes (Especially after killing named enemies), ruins the flow of the game in a major way.

    Graphics are good and the legacy mode is a neat feature, but the stability is beyond atrocious.

Theres a lot of single female that understand crap about man and relationship that are welcome to big AAA industry as customers.     No remake, ever, is going to be worth the full price tag of a new game of current generation, EVER. You don't sell a used car with a new coat of paint the original price. Thats dumb as hell. Never buy a remake or remastered the full price. Make it an upgrade for those who already own the game, or make a new standard price for REMASTER or REMAKE like 60% of current gen price MAX.

    No offline, no mods, no tcp-ip ?

    Bliz/activision has no business being in charge of this IP, hopefully MS goes scorched earth on that entire studio when they take over. D2R is a disgraceful reskin and a shameless cash grab. Even if all the current "improvements" had been in the initial release it would have been a huge disappointment. It really should have been such an easy win too, they didn't even try.

    A memory from childhood resurrected :>

    Better graphics, better movement, better audio, somewhat active patching from the devs, better user experience overall.

    I have no clue what these people are smoking, or why they jumped on an hate train, but this game felt amazing to me. Activision-Blizzard are creating fiascos, such as Diablo Immoral, but this is not one of them.

    Wasted money. Do not buy this crash simulator. Unplayable. Just start it and see it crash in seconds. Blizzard needs to develop a hardware and an OS to play this crap.

    It is pretty good, I have never played diablo 2, but it is good and it looks amazing.

    I say improved art, but I loved going back to the old artwork. The imperfect graphics actually made the game look a lot scarier. It’s really hard to outdo the original graphics, but the new ones did a satisfactory job simply being “modern.” The reason why this is a massive pro is that I can’t stand the font of old Diablo. It would legitimately prevent me from playing the game. The changes made to the game made it more friendly to newcomers.
    Diablo II excels at the grind for gear. It takes hours upon hours. But the game’s theme of hell and the gameplay is actually very clever. You grind for rare gear (people would hate me for making this comparison, but this is how it feels for me) which feels an awful lot like shiny hunting in Pokemon. Players fight wave after wave, exit the game, and do it again. Over and over and over again. You beat the game, and you start over—only to realize that the game’s gotten harder. You complete the same quests, fight the same bosses, the same monsters, everything again, except they deal much more damage and can take a lot more punishment. It’s kind of how I’d imagine hell would be—a lack of change—and it’s brilliant. The classes are diverse, and you can tackle the game at your own pace.
    Death is punishing as you might lose all your hard-earned gear you grinded hours for. It’s fun I guess, but I can tell you I had to spend 5 or so hours at times trying to recover gear after dying. Quitting was not an option because I would lose a lot more than 5 hours worth of gear. It’s something I could do without personally.
    Newcomers of the game won’t strategize properly for the final difficulty where monsters can have total immunities. It’s important to strategize and have multiple sources of damage. Otherwise some battles will take a very, very long time.
    All in all, playing this game, I recognize why it’s considered a gem (especially when looking at the old graphics). It is also coop which means you can strategize and tackle the game with friends, though the game does not support cross play. Even if the price tag seems a little high, it will no doubt occasionally go on sale. I am optimistic about the future of the genre, but Diablo II celebrates all the good from the good old days.. If you are into the genre, Diablo II Resurrected is a pretty safe bet.    … Expand

    I'm extremely disappointed, I was one of those who couldn't play when it was launched because of a bug related to the generation of the processor (the beta was working), it started badly.
    The pinnacle was also to implement a queuing system to enter a game, because Bnet did not want to invest in other servers.    I was happy to go back to this game which I played so much a few years ago.

    For me the drop rates of certain objects, even runes, have dropped, I made two HL characters, the first and second season, not even had battle boots or a herald, on the other hand I have enough to fill several accounts of sigon set found in hell.
    All that to say that this game is too expensive for a remake, and it is just thought to keep sites like D2JSP (lamer site) or the use of bots going.

    Great remaster of one of the best game ever made! I admire graphics improvement and smooth characters animations. VFXs are also great! No unnecessary changes have been made. This is still the same good old Diablo II but now it looks wonderful!

    In comparison to Diablo Immortal, this should get an 10, just because don't have P2W ... But the servers are horrible, lagging a lot, bots everywhere, sites selling itens for real money... Well, I just can't give a good review... the reflect is how Activision/Blizzard are holding their games, just thinking in money and nothing else!

    beautifull remake from vicarious. **** servers from blizzard. Sadly making this unplayable as servers have been going down nearly daily since launch. I gave them time, its been 3 weeks.

    update: halfway into season 1 and it runs... better. still not where it should be at but hey i'll take it, since its my last blizzard product if immortal gives us a look into blizzards future.

    I was so excited for this game and for the most part it did not disappoint. The server issues at launch were terrible but have gotten better in recent months. If they could fix some of the really dated mechanics it would be even better. The stash and rune/gem storage definitely needs a stacking ability.

They could have done so much more than just upgrade the graphics but they really didn't. It sometimes is annoying to play cause the game aged incredibly bad.     Do Not Play this game Online Its full of Lag Spikes and Bugs Game is using 2002 Toasters for servers and not Microsoft azure or amazon gave up on the final level after dying to a bunch of mobs along with lag **** Blizzard and not wanting to give players good servers

And guess what - there are hard crashes every here and then - and sometimes, after immediately reopening the game, theres that frigging Waiting queue again! Blizzard, you´re pissing me off at a degree, it´s not measureable anymore. As if your reputation isn´t already as low as it can get. But instead of redeeming yourself by making ONE single decision right during the last 10 years by delivering ONE single GOOD game for diversion, you present us this unfinished hardcore mess of a game where nobody can just play and have fun. Besides, those server issues are so severe that Blizzard decided to use old Backups when something crashes again and again so parts of your progress are lost. Great. They said " we didn´t expect players to create and kill so much game sessions" as if they hadn´t seen any other Diablo or RPG ever before. Liars... This Peace of crap could have been a great revival of the most epic action rpg of all time... I´m ashamed. Lowest rating guys...

    Edit/Update Nov. 15. - There was a patch and now the waiting queues are almost gone, you can immediately join new games now after a typo etc. and they added a countdown to at least be able to see how long you have to wait instead of that stupid error warning. No progress lost since, and i can play with people in my friends list every time now. Hard Crashes are more rare now. There are good improvements here. No 0/10 rating anymore, now it´s playable and as addicting as always. Good stuff.    … Expand

    Vicarious visions did a great job bringing game to 3d. Technical bugs will be sorted in a week. People are acting like this was like the warcraft 3 debacle. Nope game is great. I saw someone whine because they had to find thier corpse to recover their equipment when they died. Oh my god consequences for losing lol Take home look up instructional videos and adapt to the game mechanics. If you do you ll be surprised how much you ll enjoy it. Give it a chance.

    Theys did good game is fine and they resisted the urge to change too much. I look forward to more content like new acts and runes. Just wait till act 2 when you get horadric cube. Then you'll see the combinations are mind boggling. Hopefully people will come back to review game properly in a week instead of just loud children complaining about launch woes and not reviewing actual game    … Expand

    Great game that brings back nostalgia. Too bad shoddy programming and general lack of caring making this "resurrection" only OK. Server issues and bugs still abundant 7 months after release. I miss the real Blizzard.

    Almost perfect. I didn't like the coverage of the cleavage on some of the models. I play offline so the server issues don't apply to me. However, I can see why such a low rating is given due to server instability.

Я реально не смог выбрать кем я хочу играть, все персонажи - уроды. После этого в игру я больше не заходил и деньги не смог вернуть. The most recent atrocity they've decided to commit was to nerf the Druid's Shapeshifting tree so badly that it's nowThey continue to mess this game up more and more as time goes on. Shapeshift was the most versatile tree in the Druid's arsenal and led to an incredibly diverse array of possible builds. Now you basically have wind, fire, and summon as your only three options.

    This is how a remaster should look like. New graphics, some minor tweaks, and an option to go back to the old graphics of the game. It is kept as it was, only with new graphics and small improvements. Love it. If only other remasters were like this...

It's a great game under a pile of modern blizzard culture BS and decision making, I'm only shocked it didn't launch with a max level boost- but they do have pay to win gold find boosts because of course they do.

    They've done it again- taken the halfway route. They do a few good visual upgrades (lighting, background, effects are much improved, and the new cinematics are very nice), and some qol changes- relative straight forward, simple things that are enough to change the game.

    But no new maps, gameplay loop, modes, etc... because that would take effort and money, and they need their billions to buy new shredders and cameras to spy on bowls of fruit.

    Either keep the game unchanged aside from solely visual upgrades (which overall they didn't even manage), or if you're going to change things put some effort into it. As expected from the company known best for abusing their staff- Blizz wanted to have its sh*t and eat it too.    … Expand

    The Battle.net client keeps crashing constantly. Literally after every click it goes to "not responding" state despite of me reinstalling it four times. If I want to play D2R,    The game itself is just what it should be: pure Diablo II experience as it was back in the 2000s. However, what drives me crazy is Battle.net, and this is the only reason I don't give this game a solid 9/10.

    The Battle.net client keeps crashing constantly. Literally after every click it goes to "not responding" state despite of me reinstalling it four times. If I want to play D2R, getting it run may take up to 10-15 minutes due to this annoying Malware client that has to run on the background in order for D2R to run.

    Gameplay is almost unchanged. The beginning can be difficult, depending on the class, and there's no hand holding. Once you get going, the first 90 levels are easy, the rest is a horrible grind. As it should be. The same goes for farming items and it's awesome.

    If you're the kind of cry baby that destroyed Diablo III with your incessant "I WANT EVERYTHING ONE WEEK AFTER RELEASE" and one week later "I HAVE EVERYTHING, THE GAME IS BORING", kindly stay away from Diablo II. This is gaming as it was meant to be. Easy to learn, hard to master.

    I think they could have done even more regarding UI and stash improvements. A better lobby with game tags for farming, story, trading. A loot filter and maybe optionally a buff bar. Stash search, more stash space, a stash tab for resources. But then again some might argue that it would take away from the original feel, but these are just things I have come to expect from modern games.    … Expand

    AND, to the potential soyboys that use dumb arguments like "omg you want pixelated girls to look pretty you must be a horny virgin' or "shouldn't the mechanic be the only thing that matters", a. aesthetic matters to everything, even the design of a soda can or shampoo tries their best to look attractive, it is an integral part of customer experience. b. do people who like nice-looking cars drive **** themselves, do people watch formula one because they can't afford fast cars not because they just like seeing cars go fast? is there ANY logical connection between wanting things to look pretty, which is basic human nature, and not being able to obtain or achieve the said thing? there is none, you have to be literally stupid(as it is to many SJW) to think there is.
    Games are getting uglier and uglier all across the board, and worse, they are also becoming the same remaster or copy-paste of other games because of the lack of imagination and the unwillingness to take risk in order to make a genuinely good game instead of just wanting to take the safest route to generate money, it is also not to my surprise that these SJW and left-leaning game designers simply cannot do their job despite all their resentment towards things they either do not own or better than themselves.    … Expand

    В игру зайти невозможно, сервера постоянно висят, а если запустится, то вот что ждёт: прокаченные персонажи удаляются сами по себе из-за того, что игра потеряла связь с сервером, на кой ляд в одиночной игре онлайн, не пойму, это очень "здорово", когда играешь несколько часов и не заметил сообщение о разрыве связи и всё это не сохранилось.

    Most of the intial issues are now resolved. Love the new graphics. Fun game to play but may be a little rough for new players

    Ich verstehe die Leute nicht, die dem Spiel "1" gegeben haben. Ja, es gab viel technische Probleme, aber das Spielt entwickelt sich und ich bekomme so viel Spaß beim Spielen.

    Diablo II: Resurrected is far from perfect. The changes in character design are likely to rile up returning players, and the archaic gameplay probably won’t agree with younger generations weaned on more streamlined, sophisticated experiences. While I appreciate that this legendary title is now available in an improved format, it’s not a caveat-free recommend.

    Diablo II: Resurrection is outdated return of the legend, but it brings such a perfect atmosphere and such a wonderful audiovisual processing, that serie fans will be excited.

    Diablo II returns with refreshed graphics and unaltered gameplay (apart from some small improvements). It’s as fun as I remembered, so I quickly felt at home and gave in to nostalgia. However, it’s hard not to notice that beneath revamped visuals lies a 21 years old design. [12/2021, p.32]
