While it seemed a bit weird that Capcom had not originally included Devil May Cry 4 into its HD Collection a few years back, the Special Edition is worth a look for fans of the series on the PlayStation 4 as a stand alone game, thanks to the visual upgrades and new character scenarios.

A fun distraction buck lacks enough depth to keep your attention for too long. [Aug 2015, p.65]

While this Special Edition provides slight combat tweaks and additional characters to toy with, there's just not enough mechanical or architectural variation to justify the fluff. As a result, the endless combat rooms and recycled scenarios can be exhausting.

  1. When playing DMC4: SE you can see how certain parts of the design had grown archaic. How even Dante, as wonderfully flamboyant as ever, was skirting a razor’s edge of self-parody. And how, perhaps, Capcom’s DMC team felt they had reached their limits with the series. This Dante is the product of so many years of refinement that he feels complete. It makes this the kind of game where, despite all the little problems, mastering the core system is so rewarding they just stop mattering. And it’s something of a full stop, for now at least, on one of Capcom’s most original series.

Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition - it's the same game, but only with 3 additional game characters.
What else should a true fan of the game?

    Good:
    * Solid gameplay. Precise hitbox, precise timing, precise animations. Versatile. Variant. Challenging (even for real- non casual- gamers). Rewarding. Inmersive. FLAWLESS!
    *Solid story.
    *Likeable characters.
*5 badass playable characters: Dante, Vergil, Nero, Trish and Lady!!!
    *Nice graphics
    *Nice music/sound effects
    *Tons of unlockables
    *Heavy replayability value.

    Bad:
    *Repetition of bosses and levels.
    *"Sandbox" syndrome.
    "Unforgiving with casuals.

And even with all it's flaws IT'S STILL A 10/10... why don't you try comparing this review with the one I did on DmC? There is no point in doing it, that's why! This is even sicker than the standard edition... pity they didn't listen the community in regards needing more missions with different designs... the positive reviews on this game would skyrocket...
