Definitely a failure compared to the previous game. The only good thing about it is the great graphics. Even though the game came out in 2016, the graphics are stunning. The gameplay has improved in some ways. But the story is very bad and ends abruptly for no reason. This game needs a DLC or something because the ending was very unsatisfying. This game needs a DLC or something because the ending was very unsatisfying. It could have made as much noise as Cyberpunk 2077 when it came out, but they made very wrong choices in the development process and that's why it's just a forgettable game. The maps the game takes place on are very small. They should have thought of a much bigger game. This series needs a third game. A third game that learns from the mistakes made in the previous games can be a good finale. Expand

10/10 definitely. Don't rush the walkthrough, guys. Let it go slow and immersive (gonna be 100+ hours). Never listen to infantile negative "reviews" about this one. Mankind Divided is one of the BEST GAMES OF DECADE! DLCs are strongly RECOMMENDED.

Wow what a giant hunk of garbage! How could any studio allow this piece of crap to be released? It cannot run at max settings on hardware that is top tier even 7 years after it's original release date. The map/nav is horiffic. Guides you completely to the wrong location and is utterly confusing. Even the give me a story (Easy) difficulty has you dying within 2 hits of any weapon. UtterlyWow what a giant hunk of garbage! The most underrated game of this generation! The most unique level design of all time, entertaining & brutal, but such realistic plot, and deeper gameplay compare to Human Revolution. I spend more 120 hours in this game and it was my best game experience of all time. I TOTALLY ASKED FOR THIS, 10/10

The game felt flat compared to Deus Ex and Deus Ex HR. I HATED the fact that I got stuck with this Very White Character and not have the option to customise his appearance like in Deus Ex and Deus Ex Invisible war.

Moreover when I solved and pieced together things before an event I was STILL forced to go threw reading the terminal message and go through the event. The game in several belittle a good players ability to figure out things on their own, unlike in Original Deus Ex

    Very dissapointed

Now an experienced covert operative, Adam Jensen is forced to operate in a world that has grown to despise his kind. Armed with a new arsenal of state-of-the-art weapons and augmentations, he must choose the right approach, along with who to trust, in order to unravel a vast worldwide conspiracy.

Deus Ex Mankind Divided had to satisfy a lot of expectations. So it’s a bit of a curve ball that instead of escalating things, it actually tries to shrink the scope of the experience a bit: Where the stakes used to be global and somewhat apocalyptic, Mankind Divided chooses to settle protagonist and most cyber cyborg of all Adam Jensen down in cyberpunkified Prague, complete with a somewhat regular job as a detective at Interpol. The story starts with a bombing which, true to franchise tradition, leads to quite an elaborate conspiracy plot whose twists and turns aren’t always completely successful. But in contrast to earlier entries in the franchise, the action almost always stays confined to that one city.

As a consequence, Mankind Divided does feel a little bit like the straight to DVD sequel to Human Revolution. Taken on it's own, the plot is serviceable to good: The good guys are mostly charming and quite complex at times, the bad guys are sufficiently dastardly and they too have a few inches of depth under their belt, even if the genre conventions don't allow the player to get to know them that much. But the game can’t help itself referencing that Big Thing that happened at the end of Human Revolution, and thus the player is never allowed to forget how much more bombastic the last game was.

The core gameplay loop of Deus Ex is almost unchanged: There are hub areas that basically function as roleplay playgrounds: Adam walks around, he talks to people, does a bit of shopping, consults his quest log for main and side objectives. These sequences were very enjoyable to me, mostly because of the high production values: The writing is sharp, the voice acting on point and the city itself is breathtakingly immersive. Seriously: I’ve been to the exact section of Prague they try to emulate, and it’s very believable. While I do miss the bold black and gold style of Mankind Divided, the slightly more realistic tone has its advantages.

When you wander into somewhere you’re not wanted, the game shifts gears with an audible clunk: The first person stealth shooter makes its presence known and the player must make a choice: Shall it be shooting or stealth? To me, it is always stealth in these games, not the least because the believability of the world kind of breaks for me if the protagonist is a mass murderer. And stealth… is fine. It’s almost unchanged from Human Revolution, and it’s fine. The systems work, and almost all the levels are designed with multiple sneaky routes, most of them are very enjoyable to find and traverse. Sometimes Adam can even indulge in a few light instances of social hacking.

The hostile conversation system is also back, and it works fine here, but there is a problem: Back in Human Revolution, it was used in these incredible conversational battles between two philosophies, two ideas for progress: Adam got to exchange arguments and convince people that their ideas are wrong, or dangerous. Not so here. The conversations mostly involve Adam wanting some physical thing and him stroking the ego of his opponent the right way to get it: Still fun, but not quite as profound.

Hacking is back and basically unchanged. There are quite a few new augmentations, almost all of them useless for a stealth playthrough because most of them are just an alternate way to kill people or render them unconscious, and there are more than enough other options for that. Add to that the fact that until the last third of the game, you can’t even access the new augmentations without being penalised, and the new augmentations were pretty much without consequence for my playthrough.

So the game is good, great sometimes. Unfortunately it comes with some iffy parts, namely that the game entices you to pay for praxis points to unlock more augmentations. You absolutely can get through the game without buying a single praxis point… if you plan your upgrades right. I didn’t. I went all in on the hacking augmentations early and didn’t have enough points left to get some of the movement augmentation. As it turns out, these are very important for a sneak playthrough. And that’s how they got a bit more of my money.

All in all, I enjoyed my time with Adam Jensen, even if there was little new gameplay-wise and the story didn‘t quite live up to my expectations. My lingering investment into the plight of Adam Jensen saw me through the game just fine with spikes of enjoyment occurring often enough to not regret my purchase.

TLDR: This is a pretty good game. If you have a craving for Deus Ex, or an immersive sim, go get it. They don’t make many of those any more.

When this game was released, there were some controversies regarding microtranscation and using current social issues in it's promotional material, both were nonsense of course, the ms were only for praxis points and can be totally ignored, but a bunch of butthurted people back then gave this game a bad review just for that, saying it's “Sending a message” to the devs, we'll get back on that later.

Another criticism is that the game is way too short, these players probably just blow through the game thinking it's Call of Duty, the Dev actually did a smart thing in this game, instead of a huge open world that has nothing to explore, they made a small but very detailed part of the city, there are so many hidden quest and areas to explore in every nook and crannies, so IF you play the game properly like the first first game, or even Human Revolution, you'll find hours upon hours of content outside of the main quest, it's like complaining Skyrim's main quest is short, the main quest is only the side dish, it's the other optional quest are the main meal, but instead a bunch of dumb players just finish the main quest and gave it a bad review.

So the player “Sending a message” to the dev about ms and giving it a bad review based on the main quest alone, compleletly ignoring how great the artistry and sound design is, how intricate the full of content the city is, and some minor bugs and gliches which were fixed but still more complains then praise, what do we have in the end?

The dev just stop trying, we don't get a sequel.

Great job guys, you really send them a message, a message that means hard work and minor mistakes gets punished, I just want to say screw you to all those dumb ass who gave the dev a lot of crap for no reason, this game was way ahead of it's time, it's way better then Cyberpunk 2077, but lots of you just don't appreciate what we have, and now the franchise is dead/ on hiatus or whatever.
