It's the Moon and little else. If you've played Destiny 1 it'll be familiar in a less than enthusiastic way. Like most destiny expansions, Shadowkeep will have you visiting old planet areas for current expansion quests.

The expansion as a whole leaves much to be desired

    Shadowkeep is a fail.
Armor 2.0, new raid, new weapon its all trash. I see the sunset of a once good game.
    Welcome to capitalism from Bungie.

If you weren’t interested in Destiny before, this ain’t gonna tickle your fancy. However the content in this expansion is very polished and enjoyable overall, even if it does still feel very same-y.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I personally only play D2 to do raids with my friends, so take what I have to say with a grain of salt if you so choose. The story of Shadowkeep is not bad. It is just very vague. The Nightmares in this dlc don't really seem to hold the same threats of previous expansions. The main antagonist of the story is the pyramid ship under the moon. It looks cool, that is for sure, but all we are told is that 'They" are responsible for the collapse. I just want to know who "they" are, I paid $35 dollars to be told, "Oh yeah, that badass ship over there? The mystery beings inside that we aren't going to tell you about are responsible for the events of the majority of the previous game. Sorry." I think what they do include, they did well, but there isn't enough there right now to justify the $35 in my opinion. Now all that's left is to wait for the raid I suppose. Expand

Disappointing. Extremely short. slow progress. I don't want to do the same stuff every week.

This doesn't exist anymore in the current game although you're still allowed to buy it.

This is the very last time I ever give me money to Bungie, I lost faith in this studio after being a fan and a supporter.. I'm out of patience with this studio and all their missteps.

Shadowkeep is more of the same. More of the re-skinned assets and stretched out familiar stories with politically and racially charged designs and names for the enemies. The studio also takes the players

The studio also takes the players lightly with very little respect to their taste with the downgraded audio and music choices..

For its asking price, Shadowkeep alone falls pretty short on what it delivers.
the questionable practice of removing access to content and having to pay for more seasonal content every three months. Makes this a hard sell for anyone not already invested in Destiny 2 itself already.
Only recommend Shadowkeep to those who: - Ran out of things to do in Destiny 2. - Need a source of

The game is shallow and has no variety other than being on the moon just like the first expansion the dark knight in destiny 1, it’s sad to see destiny the game from the creators of bungie be ruined and now they are desperate to make a quick buck and keep this game alive, it is mostly still alive but not as much it was sadly.

Great potential ruined by incompetent management. It is rather clear that the developers are devoting the minimum effort to keep the game barely alive and exploit microtransaction as much as they could. Their ignorance now has developed into more of an audacity, and keep false-advertising as they are constantly adding new contents and improving player experience. Their ignorance now has developed into more of an audacity, and keep false-advertising as they are constantly adding new contents and improving player experience. Most of the added contents are a simple recycle of previous contents: worn-out and repetitive, whilst continuously hindering the entertainment value through imposing restrictions and limitations on play-style. Furthermore, at this point it is now sort of a tacit consensus that the developers simply stopped caring about hackers, and game-breaking glitches. Expand

GREAT new dungeon, good raid, good "new" destination, mediocre story, good new PVP maps, pretty good new loot, great armor changes with being just close to awesome and nightmare hunts are ok.

I would recommend this solely for the raid and the dungeon, with everything else as a nice extra.

A slightly smaller but still great addition with wonderful atmosphere and a collection of new activities. A must-play for Destiny players and a good reason for everyone else to jump onto the “Destiny Train”. In the case of PC version, it is also on Steam. [Issue#299]

Shadowkeep delivers on our expectations, giving us more of the things about Destiny we like, while reminding us that nostalgia ain't what it used to be. [Issue#139, p.106]

It's a pity that all these great changes are overshadowing the core content of the Shadowkeep expansion, but I can't say I'm surprised. For newcomers to the universe, Destiny 2 will be quite overwhelming, while veterans of the series might not find enough reasons to buy the new Shadowkeep expansion unless they really want to check out the new raid and all the gear it drops. But I'm leaning towards “wait for sale.”
