Wasn't quite sure what to expect going in, pleasantly surprised. The gameplay felt great, a voice actors did a great job love Colt as the main character, has a great personality. And the looping mechanic was pleasantly unique another great game by arcane loved Dishonored and also loved this.

Very fun game, stylish and interesting game play with characters that are distinctive and memorable. It's too easy in parts, and I wish it were as deep as prey or dishonored, but it's still very fun. It runs fine on pc with tweaking, although the drm is crap and the void engine is still kind of not worth the cost. Graphics are decent too impressive, and over all I had a blast with the game.

'Deathloop' has a relatively rare design in FPS games, which makes it form a special natural advantage. Unlike the traditional shooting games, it is based on shooting or visual experience, but turns to the game design. It makes the game very prominent, but there are still many basic parts that need to be improved.

    The good:
To start I am a massive dishonored fan. Deathloop’s gameplay loop (heh) is very similar to it which is a major plus to me. The gameplay will consist of either sneaking around with powers or shooting everyone with help from powers depending on what you enjoy (I played almost all stealth) This game will not be for everybody but if you liked dishonored’s gameplay I would recommend trying it. Most characters are great with the two main characters being even better. The banter and diolouge between them was very entertaining. The side characters were interesting with the option to learn more about them through computer texts and papers (similar to dishonored but with less info and pickups in general)
I personally had zero issues with performance on a mid level computer. I got around 110-120 FPS with almost every setting on the highest setting. Not a single crash either. I liked the way the game looked and the style of it.

My problems with the game. First, the controller settings are annoying. The sensitivity on controllers is a problem as the highest setting still feels like turning through molasses. This is a fairly big problem with a game like this where movement should feel nice. No difficulty settings is a disappointment as I like changing the settings depending on if I want a challenge or not. The game is moderately easy. I didn’t die three times ever and only had to start a loop over on one area. The endings aren’t as satisfactory as I would have liked but are still acceptable with some loose ends and missed opportunities that I wished were explored more. Not as much freedom in finishing the main story mission as I would have liked as there is only one way to complete it but a good amount of freedom in getting to the final part. A power or 2 short to feel like a complete amount and a bit unbalanced. There is no reason ever to take off the blink ability and if you are stealth you take either nexus or aether and if you are loud you take either havoc or nexus with the other power having little use.

No comment on the multiplayer as I didn’t try it and don’t plan to

Overall/Tl;DR: Great game with very fun gameplay, great characters, fairly good story, mediocre ending, and good graphics. It takes around 20 hours to complete with moderate exploration but would say it is not as good as Dishonored 1 and fairly on par with Dishonored 2. Will not be for everybody but if you liked Arkane’s other games this game is worth a try.

The story: it's great, it's about the titular loop an island constantly lives in, in which you must break said cycle.
The acting: phenomenal, you can't tell me otherwise, it's the absolute cream of the crop, period.
The Gameplay: Much like Dishonored, in all the good ways, with some differences and improvements. You can create your own way of playing, making the game extremely replayable, besides the loop factor.
Soundtrack: I love it, the theme itself is better than the last two Bond opening credits themes combined. Sound design is also pretty good.
Conclusion: Arkane brought their A-game, yet again, with a Dishonored-like game good enough to be considered entirley different and actually better in some repects to Dishonored 2 or maybe even 1

Deathloop is an immersive sim that takes place on an island stuck in a timeloop. You can access different parts (4) of the island at different parts of the day (also 4). Deathloop is an immersive sim that takes place on an island stuck in a timeloop. You can access different parts (4) of the island at different parts of the day (also 4). I think most people who enjoy previous Arkane games, immersive sims or similar FPS games are going to have a lot of fun with this.

That said, there are few things this game is not:

Deathloop is not an extremely long, narrative driven game, where you are constantly experiencing something new. You have to play through the day various times before you discover the information / tools required to end the game and will therefore be visiting the same areas / time zones of the island a few times. While Arkane have done a great job making the same areas look different depending on which part of the day you visit, by its nature (timeloop) the game will make you visit the same areas a few times, which can be repetitive. You can finish the story in about 15 - 20 hours, after which there is not that much to do other than invade other peoples' games as Julianna.

Deathloop is also not a roguelite, although it does have some roguelitish elements. It is not at all randomized, the story evolves practically the same way for every playthrough and there is a rather limited number of solutions. Even though you can approach the game with different playstyles (sneak, hack, combat...), there are not many ways you can actually end the loop, therefore the game has relatively low replayability.

That said I have to commend Arkane for trying something really innovative. The timeloop mechanic is very well implemented, and while I can see other games down the road being much more creative with the puzzles and narrative in a timeloop game, discovering the island and solving the quests was a blast. Sometimes the game can hold your hand a little bit too much, but at other times it can be a little confusing as well, so I guess this balance can be subjective. I loved the art style, design and also the voice acting. While the island itself can seem a little bland at times, the characters in the game are well fleshed-out and acted.

The actual gameplay feels great. The weapons feel powerful and are distinct from each other, the slab powers are fun to use although quite similar to those in other Arkane games. The A.I. is a little weak, but not terrible. One quibble is that there is no real motivation to go for a stealthy approach, it is much easier to just massacre everyone with no negative repercussions or different endings if you do.

Technically the game is quite beautiful and ran well on my notebook with a 3070 GPU. I know other people have experienced performance issues, I have not.

Overall, I commend Arkane for creating something really innovative in an industry that loves to churn out sequels and remakes to existing games. No, its not perfect, but still impressively well put together and fun, considering the ambitious and novel undertaking that this was.

Ohhh that was so much fun! What an absolutely terrific game. Thats not exactly unexpected as Dihonored and Prety were all brilliant as well, but I was unsure about the whole loop mechanic here. It works well and putting it all together for one last loop was an absolute blast. Can't recommend this game enough!

    Is the A.I. dumb? Yes.

Do you still have to follow the leads to manipulate events in order to set into motion a day in which you can successfully assassinate all the visionaries and finally break the loop? Yes.

Is that better than almost every other generic game on the market? You bet your ass.

The main characters are great, their banter is great, their acting is great.

If you played Dishonored then you're familiar with the sort of abilities you'll be using in Deathloop. Its a power trip.

You're going to be flinging enemies 20 feet into the air

You'll be falling to your death only to position swap with an enemy to save yourself

You'll be blinking across rooftops and trying to get the better of another player than invaded your game.

If you draw enough attention thats when the enemy's dumb AI turns into a power in numbers situation.

    Its a damn good game.

I love the intricate setup of the puzzles, the way you slowly unwrap the back story and discover more and more hints, how to kill the 8 visionaries on 4 maps. I assume, if you are looking mainly for a shooter, you may find DL a bit underwhelming, but I experience it more as an innovative action adventure with heavy emphasis on adventure (story telling, puzzle solving, timed tasks etc.) and think as such it is great fun.

The worst thing in this game is that it ended.

Absolutely amazing experience, the music, the level design, everything just hits the spot Also it's Arkane's game, if you played prey or dishonored, you know what I am talking about. The game can be tedious at about half time through, maybe it was only mine problem, but I stuck at main quest, not knowing what to do. After and before

The game can be tedious at about half time through, maybe it was only mine problem, but I stuck at main quest, not knowing what to do. After and before that the game's plot is just epic.

Everything you hear and everything that you look at is a masterpiece. I am constantly listening to characters' theme songs, they are that good (even that they all use the same tune but remix it in their character temper) The level design is top tier, I enjoy that unlike other games you have time to get known with location and its shortcuts, the feeling when you complete the last loop is pretty incredible. And don't get me started on visual appeal of locations, the mix of abandoned old city and 60's pop inserts is just AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Plot is good. People say that it has some interseption with Dishonored series, like guns' factory marks, overall architecture style but I don't know :3

Some people complain on AI of enemies. I think they are as stupid as they need to be, if they were smarter, they would just beat main character by numbers.

Anyways, among many bad releases of 2021 like BF2042, FNaF:SB, GTA:DE such games as Deathloop and Psychonauts 2 were a breath of fresh air. If you haven't yet, go buy it, it is worth its price (also it is a pretty common item on sales). I really hope that Arkane will get funding and popularity from this game and upcoming 'Redfall' title and give us Prey 2 or Dishonored 3.

For those who have some framerate problems, you just have to lower 1 or 2 options in the menu, and remove the V-sync (but enable it in the nVidia menu of your PC), and then no freeze, no lag, no latency: I'm at 60fps constant with an RTX3070

The story is gripping from the beginning to the end, and you have to let yourself be guided for the first 2 hours, to then live your adventure as you wish, exactly as with the other games from Arkane Studio (Prey , Dishonored...)

After more than 20 hours of play, and I haven't finished yet, I still have the same pleasure to play it, and I think it could be the GOTY of the year!

    Have fun!

L'histoire est aussi intéréssante à suivre, du début à la fin.

Par contre le début risque de vous questionner, alors laissez vous guider les 2 premières heures du jeu pour ensuite pouvoir jouer comme vous l'entendez !

Hacking and codebreaking and finding your way into secure buildings= Deus Ex and Deus Ex 2, An on-going save system that feels like a real life experience, rather than a Save / Load your game type of videogame =Bioshock, and some games I haven't played but here are good: Dishonored, and Dishonored 2.

The top ten things about this game are from 10 being least cool to 1 being Awesomeness:
    10. Guns, lots of guns! Makes The Matrix look like a 1st day in the army where this is World War III. Think Borderlands games lots, not quite, but you get my idea.
    9. You can hack anything that has a radio reciever. Didn't you wish you could hack a radio reciever in real life in the city, such as a cellphone tower? Well here you can. That keeps me coming back for more hacking tomorrow and the next day.
    8. The AI chases you down and kills you. In the beginning, the first 5-10 hours the AI is very easy as it's in 'learning mode' once you keep playing after 9 hours you'll begin to realize how hard-core the AI can be. I was head-shotted by a sniper rifle, not Juliana human now..., but an NPC sniper on the side of the ridge. Shot through a window, I died. Very fast.
    7. Juliana can be your worst nightmare or your most trusted friend: I enjoy killing other players as human Juliana. I enjoy other Julianas' invading my game too, to try to ruin my day. But what I like most? I can have my family member play as Juliana and we can kill the NPCs together, even the bosses.
    6. There is no linear mission play-through. You cannot say: You will do this, that, and then next that. There are recommended guides online on order of doing things, but you can do them a different way anyway. The guide said there were 2 ways. I discovered 5 different ways to assassinate Harriet in the morning. See if you can too.
    5. If you enjoyed old-school games like Bioshock and Deus Ex, you will absolutely love this. It will blow you away. As it has aspects from many older games all put into one package. Liked Borderlands 1, 2 , and 3? Then you'll fit right at home here. Did you enjoy the 'magic' plasmids in Bioshock? Yep, check! Liked hacking like I did in Deus Ex? Here you can hack anything with an antenna. Welcome to Deathloop.
    4. There is no death. Only learning Yes you can die temporarily, but you are immortal repeating time, and you remember EVERYTHING. it's Monday tomorrow, it's Monday next week, and yes, you guessed it, it's Monday in 40 years until you break the loop. One day, you will learn how to break the loop.
    3. OP like there is no tomorrow. Sure there is overkill in other games. Not like Deathloop, no way. Deathloop brings overkill and overpowered terminology to a whole new level. Try throwing a sticky grenade to someone's body then shooting the stick grenade and watch the fireworks. How about tossing a grenade on the floor between two men and then diving out the window. Can you do that in Call of Duty? No, but it would be nice if you could. Now you can and you feel and act as quiet as a silent killer too... see reason #2.
    2. I always wanted to be a hitman, in a videogame. I loved the Hitman 1 and 2 games. What I missed was the fusion of silence & guns blazing. Here you can do both. Some days I do completely silent kills, I mean that, not a single bullet sound but perhaps a silent needle gun. The next, I will go out with an explosive-bullet shotgun and blow the whole city up.
    1. Nearly unlimited character development. I have not seen a game yet, that comes to this level of character development. Without spoiling here, there are 3 forms of development for Colt and Juliana. 1. Body upgrades, 2. Weapon upgrades, 3. Magic upgrades.

THANK YOU Arkane & Bethesda Studioes for bringing us a masterpiece.

See you in-game PS5 and PC players, try to kill me...oh! Did I mention, it's cross-platform on random invasions? Now I did...

    Sincerely,
    Exsosus

Too much hand-holding, some glaring omissions in the narrative and its somewhat weak AI do let Deathloop down, but still, it’s a rare and exciting game made for both fans of Corvo Attano and those who never set foot in the Empire of the Isles before.

I applaud Arkane for switching up the Dishonored stealth/action formula here, and for addressing a few of the issues Dishonored had. Deathloop just feels too limited by comparison, though, and too repetitive by half besides. I know a lot of people who really like it, but it fell pretty flat for me.
