It's a great remake of the original, doesn't gave 10 because of some performance issues (like micro-stutters) that it still has (8 months after release and they didn't fixed it)

On all levels of dead, fear and space, an awesome game!
The horror environments gives the creeps and the graphics are neat!
A pack of unique weapons to upgrade and brutalize the frightening monsters with - although if the monsters catch you they will literally brutalize you and when you die you get to see one of MANY deathscenes.

    10/10 good ****

I was trying to play this game through EA App on PC. It's not possible to rate this game good. Sorry but a little better graphics (rally not important) is not worth a sacrifices. For me it is a weird remaster maybe but broken with many aspects at the same time.
I couldn't finish this game is a real torture. Original Dead Space is simple much better overall experience.

What a great remake for a legendary hooror game! Some sound effects are way less impressive than in the original title and the endfight is still not very good but all in all this game is fun!

    Absolutely great Remake.
Great atmosphere, better exploration than in OG game, combat is tweaked in a great way, little extra bits here and there make the game much better than the old one.
Clears most of the 2k23 AAA titles in every aspect.

Minus some issues with traversal stutter that still persist, Dead Space remake is absolutely incredible. This is the first horror game I have ever played, and it set an extraordinary example for what is possible in this type of game. First time hearing abt it was when watching the trailer for this remake, and then bought on steam to try. Right off the bat, the insane gorgeous graphics and details that was present just in the first hour of the game already made me feel that i would like this game alot. The combat feels weighted, heavy and punchy, with all weapons being used fairly often by me. the rip saw blades are a clear favourite of mine bringing back some doom glory kill memories as you get up close to take off the limbs of the necromorphs. Ambience and sound setting is always so amazingly well done in horror video games that we almost take it for granted. There were several moments in the game where the insanely thrilling music and beats were pumping so much as if they were supplying blood to my body, a true adrenaline rush feeling from going through a level and hurriedly escaping because some strange monster is chasing you. The sie quests are probably the most fleshed out side quests ive ever seen in a horror video game, seriously the level design put into it was rivalling some main quests as they were that good. inventory management and the shopping for new items was handled well with a well organised UI that made it clear what exactly was a good upgrade to get. Level design is super reminiscent of that little known game called.. dark souls? i sure havent heard of that game before...! Interconnectedness in the USG iSHIMURA was so so well done with the tram system, switches, and doors that somehow i did not get lost in that often even though the ship is massive. Having never played the first dead space, the story was quite alright to me but i didnt think it was very marvellous. Have seen better and i felt more connection to Isaac during gameplay because of a game system that Motive developed, the alive system that made isaac feel like a believable human being. I distinctly remember at one part after a very intense battle, both myself and isaac were panting profusely because of how intense it was, simple Amazing to have that emotional connection being achieved stellarly.

Having praised it, the game is not without issues. Firstly on the technical side, it seems that dead space is not really supported well on the latest nvidia geforce driver as at 16/7/23, and many users including myself were complaining as we kept seeing the directx failure message again and again. However, after reverting back to an older version that was released on january, the performance issues were nearly completely gone spar some minor stutter that was tolerable. As for gameplay and story, there were certain areas i liked and some i didnt, and felt that it was so tedious to go through, but still i did and well it is bearable. Even at its worst in level design, the game likes to keep it fresh and simple with the intuitive map button that helped me find my way back one too many times. Another thing to point out was that i really enjoyed playing on the hard difficulty, but decided to turn it down to medium after a really intense level to see what med difficulty was like, It was extremely easy compared to Hard mode and i felt like i was being overwhelmed with healing items and the like for no reason as i was able to survive fairly easily. Enemy AI seems to operate on a want to /dont want to basis sometimes and these extremely violent zombies can start to BACK OFF and i even saw one running away from me hahahah. It was so funny to see that and i guess the ai can be improved slightly. For the large part, the enemies in the game really live up to the hype as they are challenging yet fair to fight. Boss Fights can be abit... in the words of souls players, gimmicky. I didnt particularly enjoy the boss fights too much as they all felt like i was playing through a lens filter and didnt feel up close Me VS You kind of scenario. The other characters in the game are really well done and do not annoy me which is the most important thing for me. Often in gaming nowadays, we get absolute chatterboxes sharing their whole lifes worth of story in one car ride and it feel extremely irritating. The characters here are seriously only focused on surviving on the ship and i do not think i have seen anyone smile in this game, not even to themselves, which is a bit goofy but i still appreciate the studio trying to emphasise the survival horror theme.

I really had my fun with dead space even though it had some moments i felt disdainful and other negative emotions, but this project as a whole was really such a pleasure to experience the labour of love by the developers, adding their own touch to this already amazing game. Definite mustplay in my opinion.

A NEW JOURNEY INTO THE DEAD SPACE

    BEFORE WE START:
Dead Space Remake was developed by Motive Studio and published by Electronic Arts. This title is a true reproduction of the original 2008 game, produced by the now-defunct Visceral Games. This product sets itself apart from the various remakes in today's market by offering new mechanics and paths compared to the original. The game has been 100% completed on Xbox Series X.

    THE NIGHTMARE BEGINS, AGAIN:
Dead Space Remake begins with an introductory scene to the game's story, showcasing the various members of the expedition, including the legendary engineer Isaac Clarke, the protagonist of the entire trilogy. Unlike the original, he now has an uncovered face and sets the stage for the continuous feast of visual and auditory delights that this remake offers to players of all categories. In fact, this cutscene fully showcases the graphical muscle it brings, with extreme attention to detail and visual effects, coupled with technically impressive audio. After this sequence, the player finds themselves guiding the engineer through the doors of the USG Ishimura, a massive galactic spacecraft dedicated to mining giant stars.

    LOST IN SPACE-SHIP:
By now, the gaming industry has accustomed us to seeing great remakes adding a couple, or even no new mechanics compared to the originals. Fortunately, Dead Space doesn't disappoint in this regard either. Several sections have been updated and modified to provide a different experience even for those who have played the original. One significant mechanic that has significantly changed the approach to certain areas is the energy convoy system. This allows the player to redirect energy to specific structures such as elevators or doors at the expense of life support systems or, even worse, lights. This obviously adds more variety compared to Dead Space's typical linearity and gives the player more decision-making power. Finally, the last two major changes are the addition of more interactive objects on the map for defensive use, such as carts or pipes that can be used as spears, and the ability to explore a fully interconnected Ishimura, blocked only by security doors accessible during the story.

    THE VISIONS IMPROVED THE GRAPHIC:
It's challenging not to fall into banality when talking about a remake that has improved every single aspect of the game. The lighting has been extensively enhanced and structured to evoke different sensations such as anxiety and anguish, or tranquility and solitude. The colors, faithful in every situation, perfectly convey the feeling of being immersed in deep space. The attention to detail, whether it's the decorative posters, billboards, wall writings, or various objects found throughout the game, builds a silent narrative necessary for such a dark title. Of course, there are some minor flaws, such as the animations, which are still below par compared to the rest, and some final cutscenes that feel hastily thought out and concluded.

    SOMETHING IS COMING:
The audio department, even more than the graphics, showcases a remarkable technical level. For this title, a new 3D audio technology was used, which utilizes extremely realistic sound waves that bounce off surfaces just like in the real world. It's worth noting that you need headphones with 3D audio to fully exploit this feature, but the regular audio, which is meticulously crafted, is still impressive in its own right. Focusing on the 3D audio, it's one of the best, if not the best, on the market, and it's especially utilized to its full potential in a game like this. By using this feature, you can hear enemies climbing walls or rooftops, allowing you to predict their direction. You can hear entities approaching from walls several meters away. Not only does this make the experience smoother, but it also makes it extremely more horrifying and scary due to the unpredictability of certain sounds.

    WHY A 10? (9.5)

    PROS:
Dead Space Remake, a reproduction of an already established masterpiece, improves upon 95% of the original, offering a multitude of new mechanics and approaches, a backtracking system, and terrifying audio and visual aspects. These aspects make it feel like a new game even for those like me who have completed the first Dead Space multiple times. Additionally, it provides access to the Impossible difficulty right from the first playthrough, a brilliant choice that allows veterans to enjoy a completely balanced challenge from the start.

    CONS:
The negative aspects of this masterpiece are limited to the simple question, "Was it necessary?" This is because the original Dead Space from 2008 didn't need a remake. I believe that every fan of the saga would have appreciated a sequel or spin-off of the trilogy much more than this reproduction.

    RATINGS:
    Gameplay: 10
    Music: 10
    Story: 9.5
    Horror: 10

The game is amazing when it's working, but it crashes constantly on my 4090/10900k. Very sad that it's unplayable. Crashes started every 20 min or so, and started ramping up to every few min. now it's gotten so bad that the game won't turn on at all. A weird directx error that a lot of people seem to be getting.

The game often jumped between running as smooth as butter to random dips to much lower fps. Entering new areas caused issues too, which shouldn't be the case when running on an SSD on medium/high settings in 1080p.

I managed to play the entire game without finding the line gun, I have no idea how that occurred but given that it was my favorite gun in the original it's pretty disappointing, I was being fairly thorough searching around the ship in every side room so god knows where it was hiding

In any case, for all it's graphical improvements, the technical issues don't make up for the additions here. I'd rather replay the original.

It will be an interesting exercise to compare this to the Resident Evil 4 remake and Metroid Prime Remastered, such stylistically or thematically similar titles released within the same quarter, as this being the first out the gate has set a high watermark early on into the year. It wins on its top tier presentation alone, and although it can sometimes feel like that's the main contributor that's modernising the experience, there's a great novelty and appeal to some of its, should we say, relics to game design of the past. Chiefly, relics that are of a focused, directed single-player experience that don't overstay their welcome and don't manipulate the player beyond the experience itself. Let's see how long that one lasts when we're drowning in remakes, shall we?
