    I hated Dark Souls III for months because of it's uninspired gameplay and that its a sequel to a game that didn't need a sequel in the first place. I hated that the only way to play was being naked because the third installment is completely based on rolling. The diversity in gear and weapons didn't matter because there was only one way to play. Rolling.

    I won't lie, I was worried when I got into Dark Souls Remastered. I thought it would be just like the third game, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found out just how slow Dark Souls 1 is. Shield is way more reliable. Poise matters for once. As opposed to the third game where all you could do was roll naked with a light weapon, in the first installment you can do whatever you want. You can be a mage no problem. You can be an archer no problem. My favorite is wearing the heaviest armor in the game and attacking with Zweihander (hands down the sickest sword in the game). There are so many playstyles and the world is huge and interconnected. You can go essentially anywhere in the game. You can't fasttravel, but no matter where you go there will be a shortcut to firelink shrine which is essentially a hub area. There are tons of bosses and tons of characters. There are so many questlines you can start and finish and there's even tons of lore if you care. The combat is really nice too although Dark Souls is not known for it's combat.

    FYI: The reason the game got mixed reviews is because its a lazy overpriced remaster, but in my opinion it's worth it. Original DS1 constantly lags and that is even with DSfix. If you don't play with DSfix the game will essentially be unplayable. Also the original did not have keyboard prompts or borderless windowed, which the remaster has. Although the price is a bit high I think it's worth it all in all.

    Also, Dark Souls isn't as hard as people say. Dark Souls 1 is mostly just fun.    … Expand

That being said, this is the best way to play the original Dark Souls game. The small graphical upgrades also make the game a little easier to look at, but at its best still has some beautiful scenes.

    I was very upset (and still sort of am) when this Remaster was announced and FromSoft decided not to redo this first game with the Dark Souls 3 / Bloodborne engine. This was an obvious cash grab that was very effective. FromSoft managed to get me to buy this Remastered not once, not twice, but FOUR times (Two copies on PC, one for the Switch, and one for the PS4). With all that being said, this lazy "Remaster" still manages to get the job done and allows anyone to easily access the start of a great series (FromSoft, please give us a lazy Demon's Souls Remaster!)

    The original Dark Souls is a game that everyone should play, it is an experience (despite the games major issues and unfinished final half). And like I said, there is no reason you should play the original PTD version of the game now that this version is out.     Se ha mejorado el framerate y la resolucion... que de forma no oficial ya estaba solventado gracias a mods gratuitos.     The level design of this game is just at another level. I loved getting lost and immerse myself in this world. The fights are always intense but rewarding and the bosses push you to the limit in all the good ways.

    I think the soundtrack is kind of hard to evaluate because it basically only has a boss fight soundtrack, and the boss fights are good. I don't like this 'format' very much. But man the music of the final boss fight is amazing.

    But damn, the 'remastered' of the title is almost an embellishment since the game is basically identical to the first game, they didn't fix anything and improved almost nothing.    … Expand

    The cons first , the online player matching mechanism is poor, a newbie player with a high damage weapons will be invaded by skillful players, it bind with you weapon instead.
    The attacking desire increased, the enemy will chase far more than the prepare to die edition/ The pros. graphics updated, beautiful views. The best parts still remains in    Master Piece , the best of the sequel.

    a bit of improvement but overall worse lighting and ambient than original DS.
    original DS looks much better with just a simple DS Fix.

    For a remastered its pretty disappointing. But its still a unbelievably fantastic game. i have the switch version and it runs perfectly. Played more than 500 hours and still playing. I love this game. Artorius my man... this one goes out to you.

    I think that this game does not feel like a remaster as much as a regular port of the game, but it's still really fun to play and I will always love this series.

    Beni en çok şaşırtan alanların ve mekanların çeşitliliği oldu. Bu konuda neredeyse Elden Ring seviyesinde. Önümüzü bile göremediğimiz ve oynanışı direk değiştiren karanlık mağara, boşlukta yürüdüğümüz kristal mağara, zehirli kasaba, lavlı bölge, orman ve daha nicesi. Epey farklı bölge var ve bunlar sadece görünüşten ibaret değil.

    Atmosferi Bloodborne ya da Dark Souls 3 kadar kuvvetli değil. Bunda görsel kalitenin biraz kötü olması etkili tabii. Yoksa çizimler, konseptler yine şahane.

    Düşman çeşitliliği yine epey üst seviyede. Elden Ring'deki bazı düşmanları birebir burada görmek şaşırtıcı oldu. Boss çeşitliliği de iyi ama dönemin teknik imkanları nedeniyle olsa gerek, hareketleri o kadar çeşitli ve akıcı değil. Dancer gibi kıvrak, Nameless King gibi öngörülemez, Friede gibi şaşırtıcı bir boss yok. Ayrıca çok zor bir boss da yok. En zorlayıcısı Artorias the Abysswalker idi ama o da diğer oyunların en zorları seviyesinde değil.

    Neticede 50 saat süren, warrior olarak başlayıp ağır str olarak tamamladığım macera, yine ağzımda hoş bir tat bıraktı. Şimdiye kadar oynadığım From Sowtware oyunları arasında bir tık zayıf kalsa da mükemmel bir temel olduğuna şüphe yok.    … Expand

    legendary, genre defining game. This game is a masterpiece, from its gameplay, to its music, to its amazing level design, it cryptic lore and the iconic characters. Dark Soul 1 is truly is, lightning caught in a bottle. It is one of those games that you cherish after playing it several years ago.

    Эта серия игр по сложности не имеет себе конкурентов, ну разве так сложно добавить мини-карту от этого геймплей не станет хуже просто я ненавижу игры в которых я не знаю куда идти.

    This game is amazing even by 2023 standards. Miyazaki-san is one the most innovative persons in the gaming industry, and every soulsborne I play is a unique experience. The port itself is good! Stable 60 fps, online mode is active, all that good things.

    Игра приносит массу удовольствия, а именно геймплей и противники. Наверное, один из лучших геймплеев среди игр. В последок хочу сказать, что концовка не оправдала ожиданий. А если судить в общем, то эта игра затягивает очень сильно.    Не буду судить ремастер, так как не проходил игру в 2011.
    Игра приносит массу удовольствия, а именно геймплей и противники. Наверное, один из лучших геймплеев среди игр. В последок хочу сказать, что концовка не оправдала ожиданий. А если судить в общем, то эта игра затягивает очень сильно.

First of all, below 60 fps makes the game slower, the graphics is just better textures and slight enhancement, there aren't much graphics options to lower or increase certain settings. So if you have a medium or low end pc, i'd not recommend this unless if you have a console or a modern gaming pc.     my favorite game of all **** time, a timeless classic, objectively belongs in the hall of fame of best video games of all time. its combat nor its bosses are as good as 3 but its world is absolutely amazing, i 100% this game and even though it was a pain, but i am proud. the world is so beautiful and i could easily be a photographer for lordran and dark souls world if be needed, i probablymy favorite game of all **** time, a timeless classic, objectively belongs in the hall of fame of best video games of all time. its combat nor its bosses are as good as 3 but its world is absolutely amazing, i 100% this game and even though it was a pain, but i am proud. the world is so beautiful and i could easily be a photographer for lordran and dark souls world if be needed, i probably screenshot this game more then any other (150 screenshots) for its worlds choice of design and old graphics, and the bosses arent so bad themselves orstein smough gwyn artorias manus kalameet and fantastic bosses, the final boss gwyn is so **** poetic in its simplicity its gorgeous. and the lore for him is so deep, dark souls world has sucked me in and brought me so much joy and even tho i dont enjoy this one as much as 3 i have immense respect for it and still play it, i did not just 100% and stop, this games age shows but its still as enjoyable as years ago, as for the remaster aspect, i get it guys but the result isnt horrible just nothing. anyways to me the greatest game i will ever touch… Expand

    I know that this game had a terrible port that's why i never played it but now with this version i could enjoy this masterpiece and now i can say that this game is one of the best game i played i love it

Конечно-же, шедевральный геймдизайн, который, увы, деградировал в следующих частях серии. Эти два пункта, это то, чем первая часть выделяется на фоне второй и третьей. Doesn't even have the decency to give you a bonfire after a boss. Enemy spamming, convoluted level design, off-putting difficulty curve, some vague mechanics... yeah.. pre-Bloodborne Fromsoft makes for a very rude experience.     Dark souls 1's level design is a masterpiece. There is no map in these game and even there is no guide to find the way. Actually, it's really hard to learn the whole map at first. I restarted the game about 7 times to memorize all the corners of the map. But once the memorize all the map, all the places in the game seems like home, and this feeling might be one of the best satisfaction in a game.
    Game has a beautiful lore in background. But game's storytelling choices are a little complex. It is really hard to follow game's story without searching on internet. Player have to collect nearly all the items and reading their description to have a clue for this world. It is really hard because as i said, game doesn't provides any support to discovering all the map. And in this situation it is really easy to miss items. Besides the player has to talk all the npc and also this is really hard because most actions player caused, effects npcs.

    The best change by far is the slight graphical increase (Yes, Slight, it's def noticeable but    Awesome game.     One of the best Action RPGs out there. A beautiful, varied and interconnected world, good sense of risk and reward, and some amazingly well-designed boss fights. It falters in its third act, but by then it already reaches the status of a masterpiece. A beautiful soundtrack to accompany the journey. Praise the Sun!

    I had a negative view of this game in the past. Until I saw some videos about how to play this game and that was the moment I fell in love with this game. I realized that there is a deep philosophy behind the gameplay of this game and it is also refreshing, and I can confidently say that it is one of the best or maybe the best experiences of my life.

    I have never been a fan of the Souls games, i'm a straight casual...... Well after the elden ring released i wanted to give a shot to the Dark Souls Franchise before even trying to play Elden Ring... I played about 12h of DS1, but it really never clicked with me. I reached the 4th boss, Gaping Dragon, i advanced a bit and yeah that was it... Not really my style of game    Score: 6.8

    Спустя час игры я случайно пришёл в старую локацию и застрял там, мне тупо не дают выбраться. Графон ужасный и настроить его даже никак нельзя. Геймплей сложный, интерфейс непонятный. Я не могу никак экипировать щит.

    For casuals I'd strongly recommend to just play a more fun and accessible modern PC game like god of war any day or (if you are dedicated) to start your From Soft journey with Elden Ring.

    For people who are intrigued by From Soft games this is another fantastic title to spend hundreds of hours on. If I had to pick one "genre" to play for the rest of my live it would be From Soft titles - for me their gameplay and atmosphere is just unmatched. These aren't normal games this is art.     - The lack of a weapon evolution tree makes pretty complex to know what you need to obtain a certain power up of a weapon
    - Ordering in menus is by category and alphabetically, but based on japanese names, thus not making any sense in other languages
    - No possibility to pause the game even when playing offline
    - No possibility to save and reload as you want
    - The game doesn’t give clear path directions to new players
    - Inconsistencies in what a button does in the different menus
    - Sometimes, hidden affordance
    - Some actions don’t have a good feedback (like the crow’s nest)
    - Some geodatas really suck (I’m looking at you, Great Hollow)
    - Understanding how to enter the DLC without a guide is an extreme challenge on its own
    - NG+ starts automatically after defeating the final boss
    - Some characters’ quests have terrible triggers, which may lead to losing their entire quest
    - The effect of certain items is not disclosed anywhere, not even in their description
    - A few but annoying bugs

    I haven't had a chance to play the first dark soul yet, so for me, it's a good game. After finishing Dark soul III, I immediately bought Dark Soul I, and I like it. The plot and especially the map design made me feel impressed, and after the battle with Gwyn with the legendary theme song, I am sure that this is a masterpiece of From.

    This is how PtDE should have been. Still not perfect and no one is surprised. I have absolutely no idea why they did this but if your system requirements is even for a little bit lower that the lowest recommended then everytime when your fps will drop below 60 - you will experience massive slowdowns.

But the world building and interconnectedness is a good feature in the game, you can walk from one end of the map to the other in maybe 20 mins. As the first dark souls game i can see alot of the things that seemed underdeveloped here that were improved upon in dark souls 3. elden ring . even bloodborne and sekiro. It is a pretty alright game but not my favourite in the souls series. I didnt feel that the DLC was worth playing even though i heard good things about it as the game is not that interesting compared to other entries in the series and as a standalone game. 6.8/10    … Expand

    This is a great game that will test your patience and will give you the upmost satisfaction (in more ways than one when you get to the blight town boss) when beating that tough boss. Great PC port and would recommend to anyone who is really trying to get their moneys worth when it comes to hours you are going to put into the game.

    The absolute GOAT. It's not the best remaster but the base game alone is so great. If you don't already own the original, this is the optimal way to play it.

    The game's locations are too complicated. The only good thing is that they are very well thought out. The bosses in the game are easy, absolutely all of them. The only +- difficult boss is Artorias. The plot is not bad, but to get to know it you need to read up on some forums or videos.

    Remastered edition is mostly made for new players, but it is still Dark Souls, one of the best action RPG-s in history.

    This Dark Souls Remastered targets people who played the original game on console, or the ones who never played it before. It’s still one of a kind game, but this remastered version is definitely too lazy.

    Dark Souls: Remastered can almost barely be considered a remastered title for PC gamers and, while it provides some increase in graphics and quality of life improvements, these additions are largely negligible unless you’re a dedicated multiplayer fan. Despite this fact, Dark Souls is still an amazing game that is worth playing through more than once, and there’s a lot here for gamers who’ve never played through the first title in the Souls series.
