    Amazing game , smooth framerate,better textures and difficult and rewarding combat, it refines the original release (prepare to die edition) into a near masterpiece. Definitely one of my fav. games !

    One of the best game to date. Fixed after several years by the developers. Improvements upon the game make it easier to play and even with a friend. This is not a complete remake of the game, but a remasters. Touching up upon issues the game had on day one.

    I can see **** ton of negative feedback towards this Remaster and, to me, it's because people misunderstood the purpose of it. To make everything clear let me start with quick history lesson. Back in 2011, when Dark Souls had its release on consoles, players came up with an initiative that shortly after became a petition to bring Dark Souls to PC. FromSoftware seeing how huge the feedbackI can see **** ton of negative feedback towards this Remaster and, to me, it's because people misunderstood the purpose of it. To make everything clear let me start with quick history lesson. Back in 2011, when Dark Souls had its release on consoles, players came up with an initiative that shortly after became a petition to bring Dark Souls to PC. FromSoftware seeing how huge the feedback was decided that they'll make a port (DS:PTDE). Unfortunatly, as they didn't have much experience in that area it wasn't the best port you'd see. Nevertheless, keep in mind that it wasn't planned. It had major fps drops, sync, AA, controlls and stability issues that were possible to repair by using a mod (DSFix, that was later promoted by FromSoft itself). Now, in 2018, after the huge success of DS2 and DS3, they decided to revive the first instalment by "re-releaseing" it. For all the people who already have PTDE, it's not a "must have" possition. It's aimed at newcomers and hardcore fans that can't miss any possition with "Dark Souls" name in the title. That is why they wanted to switch its place with Remaster. They've deleted the option to buy PTDE from the Steam Store, as it was simply a bad port. If you've owned it before Remaster's release it will, naturally, remain in your Steam library, ready to download and play.

    Now, let me start with short statement that you won't be able to make the game look like that using DSFix. I'm saying that, because I've heard people busting their asses over it. No, your PTDE won't look the same as Remaster no matter what.
    Settings are slightly more complexed now, you can customize the controls to your prefferences (mouse and keyboard works perfectly fine), you can adjust AA to your needs, you can switch Vert Sync on and off from the settings level, no need to rummage in .ini files anymore. And - what I think is - my favorite option, you can adjust the size of the HUD. I know, I know, there was a mod for that in PTDE, but hey, you can do that from settings, without installing anything or quiting the game to change the size number.
    Moreover, you can play with stable 60 fps, with no drops (I experienced a single drop to 55, but it's completely irrelevant number), all textures are remastered, they seem "cleaner", less dirty and more sharp. They've updated the lightning effects and reflections. Orange color has beautiful, contrasting glow added to it. Little details were added, such as moving grass etc. Animations and coloristics of souls and other minor elements were updated.
    As for mechanics, everything is the same, backstabing and parrying works like a charm. I had a feeling that there is a higher chance for mobs to heal themselves (using Estus Flask) since I've experienced it more often than in the original, but that might be a coincidence ofc.
    I also had a feeling that voice actors were different, but that's nothing confirmed, I might be wrong. Anyway, it makes no difference as they did their best to recreate the lines from the classic, first instalment.

    Hearing bells ringing over and over in Undead Parish is music to my ears. Multiplayer is finaly full of people and PvP is finaly alive! I was waiting so long to experience and take part in it!

    Also, the idea of having the game 50% off if you own the original is fair. I know that some companies were giving Remasters away for free if you own the original (e.g. BioShock series), but Dark Souls Remastered feels like it has something more to it. It might be just a nostalgy speaking through me, but although they've changed it to some extent, it's still good ol' Dark Souls, and that, to me, that is excelent! Thank you devs for the Remaster, it's great!

    One more note: Yes, Dark Souls Remastered includes "Artorias of the Abyss" DLC.

    Edit: Please, people, keep in mind that it's REMASTER, not REMAKE. Know the difference, stop confusing one with the other.    … Expand

    Very nice to have this classic running at steady 60fps on PC, and TAA looks really good.
    I get it, this is how they should have released the PtD edition, but for people that never play the game this is a much more decent version than previous.
    And come on! Did you really was expecting a whole new game with new assets, it's a remaster not a REMAKE.

    A flawed masterpiece, as remaster, not remake (yeah it's a difference)

    Ignore DSfix and all hd mods, embrace how DS1 has been and not how DS3 is (which is fun, but also laundered with fabric softener)

    And it's only 20$ if you have the original. If you don't have it, there's not even a reason trying to complain in all honesty

    While I am dissapointed that they've left some of the old bugs in as is (and introduced a few new ones, like how a Dark Knight can thrust straight through my shield when I block as if it wasn't there (suspect it's got to do with 60fps) ), it did improve the experience dramatically without changing the feel of the game.

    I for one LOVE the remaster, as it is an opportunity to experience Dark Souls 1 as it was meant to be. We all wish that this was the version we got originally and not the horrible port PTDE was, but what's done is done and no amount of whining will ever change that.

    I'm just happy I get to experience Dark Souls 1 multiplayer, as by the time I got around to playing PTDE the online was pretty much dead.

    With the wisdom of hindsight, a true classic. A new gaming paradigm, a punishing difficulty level with challenges that are often easily circumvented when you know how, and some of the best level design in one of the most immersive environments in gaming history.

    New gamers - ignore the cliches. Getting stuck usually just means you need to grind near a bonfire for a while. It's that simple.

    Story is 10/10.
    Can actually play the game without mods.
    Gameplay is rough around the edges.
    Should have been free for owners of original release.

    The souls series are one of my favourite series perhaps my most favourite series. I have played DS3 and Bloodborne before this. Sure most people say this is a lazy remaster but it gave people on ps4 and Xbox one to experience one of the best games there is. Though it might do not change too much from the original, it fixed Blighttown's fps problems and changed it to 60 fps (which isThe souls series are one of my favourite series perhaps my most favourite series.     Первые две части соулса следует относить к особой касте, ибо они на порядок отличаются от третьей, которую создавали уже от нехуй делать, ибо сам Миядзаки на нее почти хуй положил из-за чего она проседает, но не о ней речь. Однако она не лишена шарма и также предлагает необычайно красивые локации, сложных боссов и наглухо отбитые хитбоксы.

    Советую к покупке тем, кто хочет испытать себя на прочность или тем, кто прошел хоть одну другую игру из серии.    … Expand

    While lacking as a "remaster" this still facilitated my first time playing DS1 due to the original game's poor performance. As such. this review is more-so of DS1 as opposed to the remaster. The passion of the lore and story speaks for itself and this game still maintains the best level design of all the souls games.     I didn't play this real time video game much, well I did play it a little, I beat the first boss, but not the second boss.

    I don't care that I am stuck on the second boss, because for me, this real time video game is still very fun to play and for me this what makes this real time video game so good.

    All games that I consider bad are games that are too boring.

Sure i raged the first few deaths but as i get better at the game and explore the world, the game really sucked me in and i became obsessed with the franchise. The game was pretty hard for me until you beat Smough and the Dragonslayer as everything else afterwards was easy.     I played this game for the first time recently and wow, it truly blew my mind and made me realize that games are truly an art form. The world is so distinct from itself yet connected with the levels honing your skills effectively, the bosses are creative and unique with brilliant designs, both mechanically and visually, yes the difficulty is something you need to get used to, but theI played this game for the first time recently and wow, it truly blew my mind and made me realize that games are truly an art form. The quiet, tragic, story is slowly drip fed throughout the game and hits you right in the feels at times once you put everything together. Dark souls is a once in a generation experience and deserves every amounts of praise it gets.… Expand

    The incredible world created by Hidetaka Miyazaki still warms my soul with its stories and events.
    A huge amount of amazing music that fits perfectly with the universe of the game.
    The atmosphere and spirit of the universe is one of the strongest that has ever been created.
    God, how I love Dark Souls!

    A classic that defined an entire genre. More than 10 years after its release, most games still can't match its freedom in character building, nor the smart level design. Enemy AI hasn't aged that well, though, especially if you are already familiar with the company's later games, although a newcomer will probably still find this game a challenge.

    - плохая итемизация и дизайн легкой брони. Мало вариантов легкой брони и выглядит она как ошметки бомжа. В длц добавили более менее приятный на вид сет Клинка Повелителя, но по статам он хуже ошметков в которых я пробегал всю игру, в частности Алый сет и Шитый Золотом Костюм. С виду это вообще скорее робы под магов, чем под моего ловкача.
    - Игра не вынуждает переключаться на другие виды оружия. За всю игру только один раз прибегнул к щиту, в бою с Хавелом. В остальном всю игру прошел с утигатаной. В общем игра за ловкача слабо продумана. Есть интересная система зачарования оружий, но особой надобности в ней не увидел.
    - отсутствие журнала квестов, что препятствует вниканию в оных и усложняет осмысление лора.
    - кривое управление, пришлось KeyTweak скачать что бы поменять некоторые клавиши.    … Expand

    Very good game. This was my second Dark Souls game. I started with 2 and i have to say i better liked the second episode. More challenging than this. But nearly the same. Overall, this is very good game. I recommend everyone have patiente and like to experince a challenging game.

    This is my review for the game itself, not for the remaster, since i didnt play original. I love this game, atmosphere is pehnomenal, gameplay is genius, level design and lore are incredible.

    It's hyped for good reason! I played it for the first time in 2022 and it holds up really well. Hot take, but Ornstein and Smough aren't as tough as everyone says.

    Coming from Dark Souls 3, this game was unexpectedly difficult for me to get into. The lack of strafe running, slower combat, and narrow corridors (just to name a few) made the first 10 hours of this game a nightmare. Eventually, I did start to get used to the game which made exploring the beautiful environments much more enjoyable. I still hate pinwheels though, screw those guys.Coming from Dark Souls 3, this game was unexpectedly difficult for me to get into.     There's a certain charm to this game compared to DS3 that I can't describe, and I can see why people call this the best souls game. There is a large variety of areas and terrifying bosses, and the way each area connects to one another is ingenious. The DLC has a good amount of content, and just when you thought the bosses were getting easier they throw in 3 nightmare-difficulty bosses.

    Overall, there are some design flaws which I feel only exist to annoy the player. I can't give this a perfect score, but I can see there was a lot of heart poured into this game.    … Expand

I'm maybe biased and would defend it brainlessly, but to anyone who wants to experience a pure DS experience, use a controller, some mods for graphical issues if you encounter one and the ultimate HD mod. Give it a try and you'll end up playing this gem for the next weeks unable to stop. Remember thatTo this day, DS 1 remains my best in the franchise. Everything about this game is great.     What hasn't been already said about this game? Tough but fair difficulty. An interesting fantasy world to explore and uncover its mysteries. This game is a masterpiece.     Rating this 9/10 for dark souls and not the remaster.
    Even though it took a while to get into the slow pace (played bb and ds3 before), this game is absolutely amazing. Very cool areas and some very memorable bossfights. Loved the DLC.

La historia y narrativa en si es una verdadera joya argumental repleta de interés narrativo que aumenta la concentración y la admiración por el lore que desprende cada esquina del mapeado. En si tengo que decir que no es mi favorito de la saga. Dado que Dark Souls III me parece que en mi gusto tiene una narrativa mas atractiva. Pero en si no puedo desmerecer o desprestigiar esta primera entrega de la saga. Que en su versión remaster lanzada en 2018 resulta mas accesible a los jugadores que anteriormente no han podido disfrutarla. No se me ocurre un motivo por el cual no se pueda recomendar tanto este videojuego como la saga de Dark Souls en si. Creo que todo el mundo que pueda decir que le gustan los videojuegos debería por lo menos probarlo.     A versão Prepare to Die no PC é uma vergonha, travado em 30 fps e tem local que cai pra 15 ou 10.
    Nessa nova versão melhoraram bastante, principal o travamento nos 60fps. Alguns mapas estão com texturas muitas lindas. Fora isso, nenhuma novidade.
    Preço muito alto, deveriam baixar o preço dessa poha e do sekiro.

    I won't lie, I was worried when I got into Dark Souls Remastered. I thought it would be just like the third game, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found out just how slow Dark Souls 1 is. Shield is way more reliable. Poise matters for once. As opposed to the third game where all you could do was roll naked with a light weapon, in the first installment you can do whatever you want. You can be a mage no problem. You can be an archer no problem. My favorite is wearing the heaviest armor in the game and attacking with Zweihander (hands down the sickest sword in the game). There are so many playstyles and the world is huge and interconnected. You can go essentially anywhere in the game. You can't fasttravel, but no matter where you go there will be a shortcut to firelink shrine which is essentially a hub area. There are tons of bosses and tons of characters. There are so many questlines you can start and finish and there's even tons of lore if you care. The combat is really nice too although Dark Souls is not known for it's combat.

    FYI: The reason the game got mixed reviews is because its a lazy overpriced remaster, but in my opinion it's worth it. Original DS1 constantly lags and that is even with DSfix. If you don't play with DSfix the game will essentially be unplayable. Also the original did not have keyboard prompts or borderless windowed, which the remaster has. Although the price is a bit high I think it's worth it all in all.

    Also, Dark Souls isn't as hard as people say. Dark Souls 1 is mostly just fun.    … Expand

    The level design of this game is just at another level. I loved getting lost and immerse myself in this world. The fights are always intense but rewarding and the bosses push you to the limit in all the good ways.

    For a remastered its pretty disappointing. But its still a unbelievably fantastic game. i have the switch version and it runs perfectly. Played more than 500 hours and still playing. I love this game. Artorius my man... this one goes out to you.

    Beni en çok şaşırtan alanların ve mekanların çeşitliliği oldu. Bu konuda neredeyse Elden Ring seviyesinde. Önümüzü bile göremediğimiz ve oynanışı direk değiştiren karanlık mağara, boşlukta yürüdüğümüz kristal mağara, zehirli kasaba, lavlı bölge, orman ve daha nicesi. Epey farklı bölge var ve bunlar sadece görünüşten ibaret değil.

    Atmosferi Bloodborne ya da Dark Souls 3 kadar kuvvetli değil. Bunda görsel kalitenin biraz kötü olması etkili tabii. Yoksa çizimler, konseptler yine şahane.

    Düşman çeşitliliği yine epey üst seviyede. Elden Ring'deki bazı düşmanları birebir burada görmek şaşırtıcı oldu. Boss çeşitliliği de iyi ama dönemin teknik imkanları nedeniyle olsa gerek, hareketleri o kadar çeşitli ve akıcı değil. Dancer gibi kıvrak, Nameless King gibi öngörülemez, Friede gibi şaşırtıcı bir boss yok. Ayrıca çok zor bir boss da yok. En zorlayıcısı Artorias the Abysswalker idi ama o da diğer oyunların en zorları seviyesinde değil.

    Neticede 50 saat süren, warrior olarak başlayıp ağır str olarak tamamladığım macera, yine ağzımda hoş bir tat bıraktı. Şimdiye kadar oynadığım From Sowtware oyunları arasında bir tık zayıf kalsa da mükemmel bir temel olduğuna şüphe yok.    … Expand

To understand this universe, sometimes you have to read about the helmet piece of an armor set you find in the far corner of the game. Although this may seem annoying, it offers a more interesting, and more importantly, more mysterious world than a game where you can collect pages and read everything from the menu. Also, the Dark Souls universe feels like its own mythology, leaving us with great characters that we will never forget, even after leaving the game.

    Although the game is not very successful in terms of image, it is a very nice feeling to have the world constantly connected from somewhere and to watch the places that are close to there, that we can go later or that we have gone before while traveling around the world. In terms of music, Dark Souls leaves us with almost 5 iconic and never-to-be-forgotten songs. But I can say that especially the weapons are very good in terms of sound.

    This game is amazing even by 2023 standards. Miyazaki-san is one the most innovative persons in the gaming industry, and every soulsborne I play is a unique experience. The port itself is good! Stable 60 fps, online mode is active, all that good things.

Player have to collect nearly all the items and reading their description to have a clue for this world.     Awesome game. The fact you can play through the game multiple times with different weapon styles, spells, the different routes through most of the bosses/areas. And of course, the best part of Dark Souls will always be the bosses and the challenges. If I could give it higher than a 10 I would.

    The best change by far is the slight graphical increase (Yes, Slight, it's def noticeable but    Awesome game.     One of the best Action RPGs out there. A beautiful, varied and interconnected world, good sense of risk and reward, and some amazingly well-designed boss fights. It falters in its third act, but by then it already reaches the status of a masterpiece. A beautiful soundtrack to accompany the journey. Praise the Sun!

    I had a negative view of this game in the past. Until I saw some videos about how to play this game and that was the moment I fell in love with this game. I realized that there is a deep philosophy behind the gameplay of this game and it is also refreshing, and I can confidently say that it is one of the best or maybe the best experiences of my life.

    A good structure of locations, an excellent variety of enemies and bosses, a large number of secrets, which can be considered both a plus and a minus. Unfortunately, most of the bosses are very easy when compared to the third part.

    A great game, started its own genre. That being said, the game falls off a cliff after Anor Londo.

    This Dark Souls Remastered targets people who played the original game on console, or the ones who never played it before. It’s still one of a kind game, but this remastered version is definitely too lazy.

    Dark Souls: Remastered can almost barely be considered a remastered title for PC gamers and, while it provides some increase in graphics and quality of life improvements, these additions are largely negligible unless you’re a dedicated multiplayer fan. Despite this fact, Dark Souls is still an amazing game that is worth playing through more than once, and there’s a lot here for gamers who’ve never played through the first title in the Souls series.
