Awesome game if you're a fan of visual novels such as the Ace Attorney series, with which it has quite a few similarities. Before I start my review, I would like to say that this game deserves a 9 or 10 for its amazing story, but I am only able to give it an 8 because the game itself is just too ridiculously easy.

Do not expect deep gameplay. The game starts off by fooling you into believing that it is an escape-the-room type of game, but in reality it is no more than a visual novel. Those who watch the anime or read the manga may enjoy this game more.

    STORY
In essence, Danganronpa is a murder mystery series where a score of students find themselves kidnapped and locked securely inside a high school facility. A demonic teddy bear shows up to haunt them, claiming that the only way they'll be allowed to leave is if they murder someone. He provides them with motives to force them into committing murder, all for the sake of entertainment.

Your role in the game is to follow through the story and solve the murders that take place. A trial is held after each murder to determine who the culprit is, and to "punish" them if they are found guilty.

The game starts off somewhat boring and tedious to play through, but once you're halfway in, the story becomes suspenseful and really absorbs you into the game. The game really shines once you approach the climax, since that's the part of the game that compels you to like the series and to want to play the sequels.

    GAMEPLAY
This game plays likes a point-and-click game where you explore to gather clues and talk to the other students to hear what they have to say. Everyday, you can spend some time with people and give them gifts to build up your relationship with them.

For the most part, this game is a "left-click simulator." You're pretty much left-clicking 90% of the time. Luckily, the game provides an "Auto" feature which progresses through the dialogue automatically, so feel free to grab a snack or drink and watch as the plot unfolds automatically.

After a murder takes place and a trial is held, the characters provide their opinions on the events that unraveled prior to the murder, and you try to find inconsistencies. Sometimes they are subtle and hard to detect, so you have to take a trial-and-error approach.

Eventually, the students reach a verdict on who is guilty and then you play a mini-game where you put all the pieces of the puzzle together in order to summarize the events of the murder. It is the most interesting part of the game as it really tests your awareness of what happened throughout the act. You can't just luck through this part without at least a bit of thought.

You are given unlimited attempts to beat the trial and plenty of time to do so. The ability to retry after failing is very forgiving since you simply continue from where you failed. I found this too easy and pointless, since if you can just try again, there's no reason to fail the player in the first place.

Sometimes you may feel inclined to read a guide just to progress on parts that are just downright confusing. That's fine; do so. Don't waste too much time during the trial. Dragging on the trial will only frustrate you, and sometimes a solution makes no sense whatever, which will only waste your time guessing.

    "SCHOOL MODE"
Building up relationships doesn't actually alter the plot, which is disappointing. All it rewards you is some background story for the character and a "star" for achievement purposes. You can do whatever you like with the relationships and it won't matter in the end since the script has been set in stone.

In order to get all of the stars, you have to play "School Mode" after you've beaten the main game. It's essentially a mode that focuses on building relationships with all of the characters, none of which die in this mode. It's impossible to build up every single character's relationship in one playthrough, so you need to play it several times.

It's a tedious game mode that doesn't involve any exploration or mystery solving, and the conversations are all repeats. It's an oversimplified dating sim that gets boring really quickly. Unless you absolutely loved some of the characters, I highly suggest skipping it and moving onto the next game. It's a mindless grind that takes several hours to complete.

If I were to give this mode a rating, I'd have to give it a 3/10. It's a mindless waste of time.

    SUMMARY
A murder mystery visual novel jam packed with story and dialogue and drawn in a unique style. What looks to be a simple game easily ends up giving you at least 20 hours of story as time flies by.

The gameplay might not have been the greatest and had many cheesy childish moments, but the story was brilliant. School Mode was unfortunately mundane and unrewarding.

I give this game a borderline 8 although the story probably deserves more. The voice acting in English was laughable, but the art has unique aesthetic value and the game is enjoyable when played without high expectations.

While it's not nearly as well designed or intricate as something like Ace Attorney, the mysteries aren't half bad. But more importantly, it's just so anime that I couldn't help falling in love with it.

Un sobresaliente juego de genero novela, destacándose por su historia y desarrollo de personajes, lo único malo es que los juicios son un poco fáciles pero siempre te dejaran pensando en cada caso en ''¿Cómo ocurrió esto ?'' y preguntas así.

I've beaten the main story in around 25 hours in a 3 days time frame.

I've seen a few complaints that "you already know you're gonna live because the game's linear, so it's not really worth playing". There's more to it than just 'your' survival and not everyone in the game will necessarily die (or live). There are many plot-twists worth playing for, and these are further expounded on in DR2.

    Emotional engagement: excellent
Dialogs:generally very goods and funny when between characters, despite a lack of subtlety in description and reaction of your character. Do not expect a lot of intelligence outside the trials however ,and expect most arguments to be pointless and devoid of logic.
Characters design and coherence: inconsistent ,some characters are very unsubtle and saved only by the catchy ambiance and funny dialogs, but the good ones are more than sufficient and few game prompted so much empathy for the characters out of me, thanks to the class trials and murders.
Realism,world-building and coherence: Bad everywhere outside of class trials, some mistranslation worsen the problem, and some characters just seem omniscient and can only be beaten trough scenaristic laxism.
Shock value is favored over logic . But the game being primarily focused on the characters, theirs deaths and trials(which are logically almost irreproachable),it shouldn't be taken as a serious handicap, even if you hate plot-holes.

It's similar to Ace Attorney but what I like more about Danganronpa is that the person who dies and the person who you have to prove is guilty are all people that you're much more attached to. Danganronpa is essentially a killing game. The headmaster is a robotic bear named Monokuma who is being controlled by a mastermind hidden within the school. 15 students with “ultimate” abilities are trapped in a school with the only way of escape being to kill a fellow student and not get caught. The people who didn't kill have to investigate the murder and find out who's the "blackened". If they guess right they all survive except for the killer. If they guess wrong everyone but the killer dies. The main hook of Danganronpa are the characters. I got really invested in almost every character. It's so interesting to see how characters like Byakuya and Kyoko interact. There are antagonist like characters besides Monokuma, specifically Byakuya. Byakuya is the worst antagonist in the series. I'm not saying he's a bad character, it's just he's not a bad enough character. He was mainly the antagonist in chapter 2 but in almost all other chapters he'd mostly help you. Besides Byakuya, Kyoko was another major character. She was one of my favorites and she is basically the protagonist's partner. Oh speaking of the protagonist. Makoto is the protagonist here and he is basic and that's his entire personality. He's not interesting at all but that's kind of what the developers wanted to achieve. Besides the major characters there are a bunch of small ones that I love and add a lot to the story. Danganronpa has a super interesting and engaging story. You slowly piece together the mystery at hand as the game continues. Danganronpa is split up into three parts. Part one being free times. You use this time to get to know a character of your choice. It is optional but I don't know how you could go through this game without using free time. It allows you to get more attached to the characters which makes their death much more meaningful. Part two is the investigation. This part happens right after a character is murdered. You investigate the crime scene and gather evidence to use in part three. Part three is the class trial. The class trial is the meat of the game. This is where you find out who the blackened is. People talk about the case and what they're saying goes flying on screen. Certain words will be yellow. These words are possible contradictions. If you shoot a yellow word with a piece of evidence that contradicts it the word shatters and you all go back to a conversation. Doing this is really satisfying and finding a contradiction in someone's statement can sometimes be actually hard. The actual cases are also interesting. They are always fun to solve and I love how you can create your own theory on who did it before the class trial even begins. It's really sad to see your favorite character get to be the blackened. Once a character is the blackened they have to go through an execution that has to do with their particular ultimate ability. When you take the tense atmosphere of the deadly school and the gory executions you could say this is a horror game. Certain parts had me more terrified than other actual horror games. I have two main problems with Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc. Number One after chapter 3 the game starts to lose steam, only one more main character dies so being stuck with basically the same characters for three chapters straight kinda sucks. Number two there were a few instances where dialogue was pointless. I know not every conversation will be an impactful one but certain moments just felt like they dragged on for a bit too long and I just wanted to get to the more interesting stuff. I haven't said enough about Danganronpa. It's an amazing murder mystery with great writing and amazing characters. Trigger Happy Havoc has made me laugh and cry. With only a few minor issues Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc is one of the best visual novels of all time. Expand

Danganronpa is a game that defies and exceeds the expectations of what a visual novel can be and it does this with violence and style.

A great concept but in my opinion the weakest game in the series the ending is probably the least hard hitting and the gameplay in the trials is more boring than in the other games, in the case where celestial kills hifumi and taka I believe it is plainly obvious that it is her the reason this is so bad is the way she acts plus the fact that throughout the game she is built up to be the “greatest liar” and that she could fool anyone. However it’s still a strong game and very fun to play due to the unique and fun gameplay Expand

There are points where I was shocked by what was going on and throughout the game I was trying to figure out what was happening. Just when I thought I knew what was going on I would find out that I was completely wrong. The game has a school life, courtroom and investigation aspect along with a bit of building relationships with your classmates. I would have loved to have seen the relationship building and interacting with your classmates fleshed out a bit more. The game ran really well for me with no performance issues and kept me invested in it the entire time. when I finished the game I had around 36 hours in game so it's pretty good length wise as well. Played this game on Vita release, so I based my rating out of that. If you like visual-novels, good narration, cool morbid atmospheres and investigations, you might like this game.

I find a game worth my time when it is either very entertaining or when it is fullfilling in some way, for example by being very intelligent, thought provoking, or by providing fresh perspective or interesting emotions. I found it lacking on both.
For me, it lacked entertainment because on the one hand the actual gameplay was too easy and not challenging or engaging enough (such as the murder trials) for a 'thinker' like me, and on the other hand the story was not that strong (sure the murder trials have unexpected twists and the whole setting of the game is one big mystery, but that is not enough for a strong story with character development, character interaction and character bonding). (Also, I found the mood very serious with not so much humor.) This is all in contrast to my favorite game Phoenix Wright (which also has more emotional depth). (People saying that this game is similar to Phoenix Wright motivated me to play this game.)
About 'fullfilling'(/deep): sure themes like 'despair' and 'happiness' were there, but to me they were not fleshed out enough. Perhaps it was somewhat psychological ('who will commit murder?'), but not so much philosophical (apart from moral 'choices').
Once you have bought this game and have started playing, you will likely want to know the rest of the story and spend many hours on this game; that's one reason why I wanted to warn people like me. Before I bought this game, I read quite positive reviews. Yes, this game has some strong points. But apparently, at least for me, only the highest quality or most intelligent games suffice, and this isn't one.
I can only finish with: I had fun, and I am thankful for the game creators.

Danganronpa is an interesting murder mystery game, mostly comparable with the Phoenix Wright series, with a unique theme of despair and hope added in. As such, gameplay will mostly be just on the sidelines where the story and characters stand at the front, and will mostly decide whether or not this game is worth playing.

    --Story--
The premise is *read the synopsis*. This is a somewhat unique premise, having characters sealed in an area and forcing them to kill each other. The murders and investigations are smartly written enough, and the twists are fun and exciting, though due to obvious clues scattered around, the player more or less sees the twists coming from a mile away. This leads to an underwhelming feeling when all the characters are completely clueless while the player already knows who committed the murder, and perhaps with smarter writing the player could know as much as the characters know and be on the same page as them without doing the deus ex machina introducing a random piece of evidence later on. Despite this, the murders and investigations are interesting to follow along. The other side of the plot is mostly with the characters interactions and free time, which leads us to the characters.

    --Characters--
Most of the characters are based off of some sort of trope along with a couple of traits added in, and herein lies the biggest problem I have with this game.

Most of the characters aren't likeable, nor are they interesting, thus the player usually doesn't really connect with most of them nor care about them at all when they get killed.

Aside from the very first character that's murdered, I cared very little about the characters that came after. This is mostly due to the fact that the game forces you to bond with this first character, and to an extent, the game did a rather well job setting the first character as a three dimensional person with goals and fears and whatnot, and I did feel something when she was killed, but aside from that, you are not forced to bond as closely with most other characters.

However, bonding with the other characters is still optional, and the game encourages this by rewarding the player if you do bond with them. However, bonding is pretty shallow, and you mostly just learn a few facts and quirks about the characters before you are finished with them.

This is bad for the constant 'despair' theme the game tries to hammer into your head, since you don't really care about the characters dying one after the other. Added with the fact that most of the characters are just tropes, it really hurts the game. It's as if the game is trying it's best to make you NOT to feel anything for the characters with the exception of the first one that dies.

    --Gameplay--
Most of the investigation stuff is just pointing things out and walking around, while the highlight and most fun part of the game are the class trials.

Instead of having the standard phoenix wright cross examination and objections, the game adds a gimmick to the 'pointing out contradictions' section, where instead of a steady still image of the witness, the camera flips to each character talking. This is honestly pretty exciting and more intense than the phoenix wright cross examinations, except that the game had to add stupid gimmicks. Instead of just clicking out contradictions, you have to, literally, shoot the contradictions like a FPS. This seems negligible at first, but as they add more and more gimmicks it just gets annoying, and becomes a chore to play.

Aside from that, there are two other minigames shoved in, such as a really simple word match minigame and a stupid rhythm game which is extremely difficult to understand. These minigames are not pleasant to play and mostly just pointless.

Despite all that, these minigames are mostly just negligible, they don't interrupt the flow and tension of the story too much, so they are mostly ignorable. The class trials are still the most fun and exciting part of the game due to the music and the cross examining.

    --Conclusion--
Despite the poor characters and the tedious minigames, the story still manages to keep the player engaged and the gameplay manages to entertain and keep the tension going. Thus, I recommend this game and this game is above average.

Half DanganRonpa is a linear-progressing murder mystery. Since it's linear, you know you're not going to make a mistake and die, you just go along with the story. And since its a murder mystery and everyone around you dies one after the other, you don't really want to get attached to any of them because you know they're all gonna be offed at some point. Good writing could counter theHalf DanganRonpa is a linear-progressing murder mystery. Since it's linear, you know you're not going to make a mistake and die, you just go along with the story. And since its a murder mystery and everyone around you dies one after the other, you don't really want to get attached to any of them because you know they're all gonna be offed at some point. Good writing could counter the massacre principle and get you attached even if you don't want to, but all the characters are hyperbole parodies of typical anime character tropes, the fat geek, the punk, the teen idol, etc. The personalities are ok enough but none come off as really memorable, except maybe Kirigiri.

DR didn't really make me want to like its characters, except Kirigiri and Asahina. I barely ever felt anything for any of them.

The gameplay is both better than Ace attorney and a lot worse. Every day you have to do a ton of walking around an empty school, which sucks. But the real difference is with the class trials. For some unfathomable reason you don't argue with others, you shoot down their statements once you found a contradiction. And by shoot I mean shoot, you have a cursor and you shoot it down like an FPS. It's...stupid. And not very pleasant to play. Other things include veeeery simple letter association and more shooting, and then a big, annoying rhythm minigame. It's a whole lot of useless fluff for something that essentially should just be about a bunch of people talking, but it is original at the very least, and the shooting down is ok once you get the bonus from Togami which makes the cursor less floaty.

    But the worst isn't there...

The ultimate theme of Danganronpa is hope and despair, and honestly, I think it's a VERY poorly treated subject. Despair especially is a rather complex issue which is kind of hammered in throughout the whole game. It's pretty much "DESPAIR, BECAUSE I KEEP RAINING ON YOUR PARADE!" and instead of intricate psychological attacks on the player, it's more "well here's your daily dose of senseless murder and more wierd ****

If the game had made the smart decision of putting the player in the position of a "willing pervert" who doesn't want to die in game but enjoys the game, enjoys the killing, enjoys the violence, then it might have been a really good theme. You'd want to keep playing and yet you'd question whether you aren't the sick **** for enjoying all the violence and death. But they kept on going with the whole, very poorly understood, hope VS despair theme.

And at the final showdown I ended up skipping angrily through the text because the "I will not yield to Despair!" stuff had just grown extremely old extremely fast and sounded as corny as it sounded false.

So yeah, it's definitely worth trying and it has an intricate plot with some very good twists, but the general themes, a lot of gameplay and characters are badly designed and it sort of fell flat too many times for me to be positive about Danganronpa.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I liked the idea of the story, but I can't recommend this visual novel game hybrid.

You never identify with the main protagonist, because he is unbelievable dense – even with most obvious no-brainers, Matoko begins an monologue about how he does not understand anything of this. Also he is asking others that give them tons of hints and he still understands zero. And as a player you can just facepalm and try to endure it, since the game gives you no chance to intervene and actually investigate and solve. The pace of the whole investigation is completely predefined, in fact everything is predefined, except the stupid walking around and annoying minigames. As a player you have no real power. You do not really controll the main protagonist, you just push some buttons when the game allows you. You have to bear with it. Okay you can skip dialogue but think about Case 1. I assume 99% of the players got the hint the moment they looked at it. LEON. Another second later everyone realised Sayaka wrote it with her healthy hand while leaning at the wall dying with her own blood. But Makoto doesn't get it. He just does not get it. Even he talks to himself like an idiot again 11037 and even after talking to other persons and speaking the numbers loud out he still does not get it. It takes till the trial is already over, when this airhead suddenly shouts like an idiot "I GOT IT!" like he always does when everyone else is already facepalming for a whole bloody week.

Every single character is retarded, not only the main protagonist, albeit he is a very special one. With maybe only one exception, which would be Kyoko Kirigiri.

Why can't I play as her? She at least has some brain and she is at least interesting, unlike Makoto! Let me solve the puzzles the pace I want! Do they think the audience is THAT dumb? I mean I can understand they wanted to make EVERYONE understand it and tried to make NPCs look smart, but you can achieve this without making the main protagonist the second most slow-witted on earth – Yasuhiro is even more dumb…

Also the mini-games they are just unnecessary and feel out of place. You have this argument since an hour, but now you have to do some music games and shooting words, when you already know the argument. Just let me say it!

That leads to the next point the mood. The game wants to be that mysterious crime visual novel, but same time presents itself like a corny murderous carnival show full of one-dimensional characters, nullities as motives of murder (with Sakura as an exception), and some misplaced "friendship" kind of dating sim where you buy friendship with presents…

The suspension of disbelief doesn't work in this game. For example Sakura just died and the trial is over. It was suicide as we have come to know, then the annoying bear destroys a laptop and suddenly everyone, especially that wimp Makoto begin to cry about their laptop-friend. A computer program. A REAL PERSON just died – Sakura – but a computer program written by Chihiro is suddenly the reason all start to break in tears? What the heck?

Am I the only one who think that would be the greatest way to piss on Sakura's and Chihiro's grave the same time. Chihiro is dead. That laptop is not Chihiro, it is not human, it is a program. But Sakura is a human, that just died, and was your friend. HOw about crying for Sakura instead of laptop? But NO! This is japanese logic. Makoto is crying an hour more.

What sucks as well is that you can't mute the music, since the tracks are limited and get boring very quickly. You can't hide the BGM radio icon, nor mute the "emotional voicelines" that replace the silence when there is no voice-over. It's just annoying after some time. So you have to mute through windows sound mixer.

The gameplay elements are totally disconnected from the story and make no sense.
The story is 100% linear with no real choice for the player.

If you like games with choices where the story is embedded cleverly into the gameplay or vice versa, then this game will be a disappointment.

I gave one point because of Kyoko Kirigiri, the only really interesting and half-way reasonable person in this whole game and because the idea is actually really nice, but the execution is just a double-facepalm. Okay another point for the idea but thats it.

The thing is you can enjoy this game if you generally have no problem with anime like characters that overacting and behave cheesy all the time. If you have no problem with getting handholded, since this game handholds you 100% without leaving you room for own choices. And if you can see beside the misplaced minigames, THEN you can enjoy this game. Otherwise better avoid.

The critic sounds more harsh than it is meant to be, and sometimes the potential shines really through, but I can't overlook the tons of in my opinion wrong gamedesign decisions and the blatant ludonarrative dissonance that oozes out of every corner from this game.

The entire game I was asking myself, "why are these kids being put through this seemingly pointless misery?"
I had a few theories: maybe they each represented some type of tribe or nation, and this was the civilizations' way of duking it out. Maybe it was some sort of Hunger Games/Maze Runner-esque setup.

Well, the big reveal was that the reason they were enduring pointless misery is because there was a character who wanted to inflict pointless misery. That's it.
It was kind of a letdown for me, but I'm sure other people don't mind.

And for what it's worth, the sequel games build on the first one in interesting ways, so it might be worth getting for that reason alone.

The story centers around Makoto, a student who has been selected to access Hope's Peak Academy, a school where only the best of the best can enter. The school life of Makoto will take a sudden twist when him and 15 other students from the academy get forced into a killing game, having to decide between killing someone and not getting caught, or spending your whole life inside the school.

The main thing I can highlight about THH is the atmosphere. This game has the best setting in all of the franchise. This is the only release where you actually feel you are trapped. There is no exit to the outside; you are locked in there, surviving until you either kill or get killed.

When a murder takes place, an investigation starts. In this segment you must discover the evidences and clues left behind by the murderer. Once the investigation finishes, the real deal starts. The Class Trial takes place. The Class Trials are the main focus of the Danganronpa series. In them, you and your school fellows must point out the culprit. If you do so, the culprit gets murdered. If you don't, everyone BESIDES the culprit gets killed. Therefore, you must be suspicious of everyone. The gameplay in Class Trials consist of multiple minigames like a hangman and a rhythm-game. It's the worst gameplay in the series but it set the bases for the other releases.

During Free Time, you can do what a normal high school student would: hang out with friends. Completing a student's route will grant you a skill for Class Trials. You can also go to sleep if you prefer that over socializing.

Overall THH excels in atmosphere, has good moments throughout the story and is held back a bit by it's rough gameplay.

I don't know if I just lack the patience to finish this game or what, but having to look for clues for the murderer during the whole body discovery thing was so tedious and long, I just wanted to get on with it already. I also felt like I started to lose motivation to continue playing the game after my favourite characters died. I was also disappointed because I thought the whole free time events thing was its own separate mode and that you had an unlimited amount of time to interact with the characters but no, you pretty much only have around few times to be able to interact with some of the characters who die earlier in the game before they're dead which is a bummer. Anyways, it's an alright game but it can feel like a chore to play it at times if you don't have the patience for it like me lmao, but the soundtrack has absolutely no reason to be so FIRE LIKE WE'RE KILLING CHILDREN IN THIS GAME AND THE BACKGROUND MUSIC IS SUCH A BOP LIKE FOR REEAAALLL Expand

An incredible story that had me at every twist and turn. One of the best written villains in gaming (until the end) and a environment oozing with charm.

Only reason it’s a 9 instead of a ten is Alter Ego and his human counterpart and the unnecessary swearing was a constant immersion breaker as it was just the worst.

The film turned out to be a hit and a precursor to a new type of gameplay in computer games with the above-mentioned title. The original minecraft mode is considered to be the first game of this type    ,, hunger games", which, however, refers to a completely different novel, nevertheless still drawing its roots from the Japanese work. Few, however, realize that the first game operating on this principle was also the Japanese Visual Novel entitled "Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc" created by Spike Chunsoft in 2010. It tells the story of the so-called "Hope's Peak Academy", an elite high school funded by the Japanese government. To be able to attend this facility, each student must meet 2 requirements: attend high school and be the best in their field. So during the game we can get to know such characters as a ultimate swimmer, ultimate baseball player or a ultimate school idol. The main character, Makoto Naegi, is ... a ultimate school lucky guy, an ordinary student who got into this school as a result of a lottery. Despite his doubts, the hero decides to attend school, but as soon as he crosses its threshold... he loses consciousness. The next scene takes place in a classroom, the windows are boarded up with metal plates and the only exit is through an armored door that can’t be opened. There, the player gets acquainted with other students who are put in the same situation as him. Right after that, the radio is turned on and everyone is called to the gym. There they meet a monokume - mechanical bear who introduces himself as the school's principal and announces that everyone will have to stay in the building until the end of their days. However, if someone wants to escape, there is one way to do it... You have to kill another student in such a way that others cannot discover who did it. If the would-be murderer succeeds, he goes free and everyone else is executed, but if the other students discover the murderer's identity, he is killed and the game continues. The murders, and even more so the executions, are extremely phenomenal and decorated with black humor by Kazutak Kodaka - the director. In addition to the mystery of the crime itself, the main thread is the mystery of the school: why the heroes were imprisoned there, how they can get out of it and most importantly: who is monokuma. The gameplay of each of the 3 parts is divided into 3 segments: freetime, during which you can freely explore the school, talk to other students, build relationships and explore the area, investigation, i.e. the time between the discovery of the body by at least 3 people and the start of the so-called. "Class Trial", and the class trial itself, where, thanks to the collected evidence, you need to accurately identify the perpetrator. Expanding the thought of the class trial: when the player manages to collect all the evidence, an alarm sounds and students are directed to the elevator, which takes them to the underground courtroom there, standing in a circle, they debate among themselves who could have done it, then the gameplay is enriched with basic point and click, a game of hangman, a simple rhythm game where the main character argues with another student, and "The Ending Argument" - a puzzle in comic book character during which the player must sort out the events. As for the very reasons for these killings, it is not just a desire to come to light. During each freetime, the game master gives the students more and more absurd motives for wanting to kill. Each subsequent part offers something different: characters, murders, mini-games and ... endings. The ending of the first and second parts of danganropa goes beyond all the usual thriller patterns. Even though I haven't played Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony yet, I've heard many times that the final plot twist is something that can't be called an ending. And it was because of the ending that the third part divided the players so much. Expand

Most of the plot twists were completely unexpected, and the villain is the most **** up, funniest, and mentally insane villa there is.

Personally, I feel there is around one or two weak points:
You feel like you are trapped, and just waiting for something to happen. I was honestly sleeping to skip free time events.
After the first couple of trials, it gets repetitive without anything
Other than that, I rank this a solid 9/10.

Danganronpa may not score highly with its excessive menagerie of gameplay mechanics, but if you’re morbidly curious and want to indulge your darker side, this unique visual novel adventure gets a solid passing grade.

Trigger Happy Havoc is an unsettling journey, an absorbing moral dilemma and a brilliant, tangled criminal story. [05/2016, p.60]
