Daemonica

It’s great to see a horror-themed game that goes more for the cerebral end of the spectrum rather than straight the jugular, but there are a few moments where you might not want to step into a darkened area or find out what’s happened to a character you’ve befriended.

Daemonica isn't perfect but it certainly made me want to play, which is a lot of what you want from a game. Its dark side appealed to mine, and for me, its strengths overpowered its flaws. Its final rating might not be the same as yours (isn't that always the case) but reflects how much fun I had over a few very lengthy and absorbing playing sessions.

There's a lot to love about Daemonica, from the overwhelming sense of despair that permeates the sad town you explore to the unique methods used to conduct your investigations.

While Daemonica isn’t going to be for everyone, those looking for an entertaining and well written title will have a good time with it.

In all, Daemonica is a stylish game which falls short in only two ways: length and difficulty.

Much of the gameplay in Daemonica is cerebral but it can be a rewarding experience. However, once you've found the killer, don't expect much in the way of replay value.

Will Daemonica single handedly revive the adventure game genre? It won’t. Because Daemonica is set in a single town, it doesn’t have enough real estate (literally and figuratively speaking) to really expand into an epic adventure.
