The story is strong and immersive. I have enjoyed and memorized a ton of the side characters and their stories. I LOVE THE MUSIC, gun play is not the greatest but not exactly meant to be flashy.
CDPR is doing their best to fix the game for everyone.
Patience created this issue. CP2077 could have been delayed 4 more times and would have been worth it

Completely unplayable. Not in that the game is structured poorly. I just literally cannot play the game it crashes constantly and the so called fixes on YouTube do nothing. Did the devs expect everyone to have a state of the art machine to play it on? This is just ridiculous they better fix it soon.

The game was hyped up to be something like The Witcher series, but what a disappointed. Putting all the bugs aside, this game still feels kind of empty, few cars and people in the streets, features that are there, but cant be bothered using. The side quests are fine, though the main story is very short and like a 5.0 IMDB rated dramascifi movie.

In CP it's 2-5 minutes tops, depending on how much you loot containers. It's the most lazy and rushed intro in AAA games I've seen in my life.

AI performs either at bare minimum, or straight up broken. Pedestrians, enemies, drivers, cops - not a single instance works well, there is always some issue with it no matter what you do.
The game is full of items with pickup icons you cannot pick up, T-posing npcs, flying phones which the game forgot to despawn once npcs stopped using them. I'm not going to mention all bugs, because it will take thousands and thousands of words. All and all, it's an early access for full price.

Romances are mediocre as well. Very few options, and most of them are boring. An average Bioware game has more romances of better quality. Yes, EVEN DA3, despite being a generally bad game.

Performance is meh at best. People with 3080 report about 20 fps, while 1080 owners report about 60 fps. In other words, it's a russian roulette.

Beautiful game with an interesting story and some great ideas.

It does suffer from some bugs, though the bug situation seems to be greatly exaggerated. It's not as buggy as Skyrim was at launch and I've played on both PC and Xbox One. The biggest annoyance I have found is that the driving is terrible and there's no auto-drive.

In the 7 hours or so of gameplay so far I've experienced at least 5 bugs, 2 visual, 3 AI related. Playing on normal I've also found AI to be exceedingly stupid, 80% of the time the AI will just try to bum rush me leading to their swift, imminent death. When the AI isn't doing this they are completely ignoring me to shoot at other AI even when I am standing right next to them shooting them. PC controls are also garbage as there are a lot of keys you flat out cannot bind. A lot of gameplay mechanics tend to also be an awkward mix of RPG and FPS elements mashed together, for example the "armour" you wear also helps with your "street cred", however inexplicably you can pick up items that look like a 70 year olds cardigan and somehow that will give you more street cred than the cool leather biker jacket you have on. This mechanic simply is not needed, nor is it welcome due to the broken nature of it especially with so many other ways you can improve street cred. Graphically the game is a real letdown as well it is painfully obvious this game has been made to run on 7+ year old console hardware. If you upgraded your GPU special for this game you wasted your money it'll run nicely on an overclocked RX580/590 with optimised memory timings. In my case that means £370 needlessly down the drain in total as I went and spent £320 on a 5700XT expecting this game to at least try and push some sort of boundary... it does not.

TLDR; Wait for the proper next gen version of the game as this version should have been aborted before birth.

I'm not even talking about the bugs, the horrendous combat, clunky camera, or the lifeless AI. I was fully willing to forgive all of these issues, after-all Witcher 3 had most of these issues and it's one my favorite games of all time. All I wanted are interesting characters, good world building and decent writing. And Cyberpunk is ripe for that stuff. How did CDPR manage to make such a soulless, dreadful slog of a game after so many years of development I'll never understand.

The acting is shockingly poor. None of the characters are interesting. The world building is juvenile. The art style is ugly and uninspired. The animations are stiff and underbaked. The UI is ugly and confusing. The audio design, well, it's non-existent; often times the dialogue is drowned out by the music or other sound effects, and when there's no dialogue it's eerily silent and lifeless. I could go on and on with how bad this game is. I honestly can't think of anything good to say about it. It's painfully mediocre.

Make no mistake, this is as bad as Watch Dogs. CDPR should be ashamed of this.

In a weird way, that's the best way to enjoy Cyberpunk 2077, as it hides the glaring issues with the static open world from the player and maximizes the potential of the really good stuff, which is the story and the characters.

First the good stuff. The game looks great visually. The art style is beautiful. The city is gorgeous. It's what I imagined a future Blade Runner video game to look like after seeing the movie for the first time. Shooting mechanics are great. Audio design is absolutely top notch. It sounds as good as it looks.

The problem is, the city is a mere facade. It looks good and is massive, but it's a hollow experience. NPCs walk around like mindless zombies. Tons of stores around you, yet the only ones you can interact with sell the same garbage. Cars can be smashed at 150mph with basically zero cosmetic damage. I actually stole a cop car with three cops standing right next to me. They didn't give a damn.

The open world in Cyberpunk 2077 is a Potemkin village. It's a facade. It's not real, it doesn't even feel real. I've seen more interactivity in GTA: SA, and that's a 15 year old game.

There are some glaring issues with stealth mechanics where enemies home in you as soon as you've been spotted, inconsistent difficulty and RPG mechanics that are overly simplified, but I'll chuck that to either me not understanding them completely or misusing them. Nevertheless, my impression of them hasn't been very good.

The story is great, and the characters are interesting. Every single storyline mission I've played has been engaging and well designed. This game would have been a lot better if it was linear, as that would have controlled the pacing and kept the player from engaging with the most disappointing open world I've taken part of.

I can honestly write an entire 60 minute stand up comedy skit on this, but I’ll just share my personal favorite...I kept spontaneously lighting on fire. I would die and have to reload my games, this has happened twice now.

    Not including bugs 6/10:
    But why only a 6?
-The gunplay feels old and bullet spongy, it’s basically a tuned down borderlands. To kill enemies without the right upgrades, you literally have to shoot their heads like 10 times and throw 3 grenades at them. Luckily the AI is so bad it’s very easy to do.
    - Some large areas of the map are crazy barren. There’s no cars, no people, despite their being considerable infrastructure. Clearly just sets for missions to be ran on.
-the missions are scripted very heavily. The dialogue options mostly go 1 direction despite you wanting to try another. There are instances where your HP loss is a fixed value, and the enemies very obviously have the same outcome regardless of how much you shoot them.
-There’s not much to do in the city aside from shoot angry dudes. There’s basically only spots with enemies that are hanging around, no other forms of interaction. -No flying vehicles, and the ground based vehicles you have drive like **** The cars don’t feel like they have any future tech associated with them, and the motorcycle physics are a joke. If you drive a big truck, the camera sits behind it and you can’t see. You can’t even shoot out tires on cars. Hijacking requires you to have a certain skill level to have the strength to take it from someone; even if they’re dead and the window is shot open.
-there has yet to be a single substantial NPC or interaction I have found outside of the games missions/story arc. Where the hell is all the substance in this world beyond the cyberpunk looks? Hot dog vendors literally just tell you “The **** you want?” And then proceed to run out of generic dialogue options. People in the club are just like, “Uhhh, can I help you?”
-Police do not have the AI to drive after you, they spawn after you.

    Limited Character Customization:
In a game whose futuristic culture is that anyone can be anything, the customization options are extremely limited to a few preset body parts. There are no synthetic parts and no body types to choose from.

Worst of all, there is no option to change your appearance. Nowhere does it say that making your character is final and cannot be changed. Chose a crappy hair color due to the bad lighting in the Character Creator room? You are stuck with it for life. Seriously, in a game that advertised adversity and extravagant futuristic styles, you expect an option to change appearance. There is absolutely no point as to why we can't change looks. Changing looks wasn't a technical difficulty, but rather a stupid omission by CDPR.

No Character Freedom, Background or Story:
Your background has zero effect on... pretty much everything. The only thing that changes is the first few minutes of the Introduction and a few dialogue options that lead to the same outcome anyway. So, you wanted to make a Nomad and reach Night City. Be someone from the "outside," with no connections, who is trying to make his luck in this megalopolis? It doesn't matter. As soon as you finish the Intro, you instantly become best buddies with Jackie Welles and every sneaky "fixer" in the city suddenly trusts you with very sensitive missions. You are given a nice apartment, a car, a unique gun and money. There is absolutely no RPG element in this kind of scenario. No matter who you choose to be, a cutscene commences that bypasses all RPG elements (building trust with other characters) and throws you in a linear story path. After the Intro, whether you chose to be Corpo or a Streetkid, you are exactly the same. You wake up in the same apartment and proceed to the rest of the game the same.

    Beautiful yet Soulless World:
Night City is amazing visually. Flashing screens with crazy ads, flying drones, futuristic cars, amazing interiors, extravagant people walking its streets. The basis is there. Unfortunately, that's all there is to it. Nice to the eye. The NPCs can't be interacted with. They also don't interact with their environment. Just slashed someone with a Katana? Well, the sushi seller next to him keeps selling Sushi, and the beggar casually repeats the same "begging for money" dialogue.

    No Immersion!!
Which leads to the game having little to no immersion. No matter what you do, nothing responds to you. There is no feedback from the environment. You park your car on the sidewalk, and because you slightly touch the road, cars pause and form a gigantic line behind you. Nobody attempts to bypass you. They just stay there like soulless dolls. They stand in the middle of a gun fight, they don't run, they don't take cover. NPCs have nothing to say or do.

    - Food Stalls and other shops are just passive inventory vendors. Bars, Clubs and Restaurants are obsolete since they only have an inventory NPC-Bartender to transfer items. There is no interacting, no sitting, no drinking, no eating, no relaxing and taking in the environment at a bench.

There are NO animations of drinking, eating, going to a ripperdoc. EVERYTHING is just "Transfer" UI. There's no CRAFTING bench. You just craft things with 1-click. Where is the immersion in this?

    - In such a dark themed world where plastic boob ads and half-naked people are everywhere, there is absolutely nobody to hook up with. Just 2 Joytoys that instantly transfer you into a 10 seconds clip of you having sex with them. It feels like they are there just to say that you can "have sex" in the trailers.

    - Drug dealers sell literal candies, sodas and fruits. Where is smoking? Where is snorting crazy expensive drugs? (with animations)!

-There's no vehicle customization or dealerships. Seriously? Where is the futuristic tuning? In depth car modification?

    - No apartment choice. There's also no customization in your apartment at all. On their trailers they showed a clip where you actually get to choose a rich villa if you want to live the high life. Lies.

    - No gang reputation, nochoosing a gang and killing for them, no affiliations with dangerous people. No karma system. No appropriate to your choices reactions by people.

    - No sense of fear walking in the City. You can punch a muscle-bound freak NPC and they run like scared chickens. Or cybercrouch and cower indefinitely.

    - No minigames! Is it so hard to play some slots? Game machines are EVERYWHERE. Is it so hard to play some Poker in a small room behind a bar? Where are darts or a pool table. These minigames could add hundreds of hours of gameplay.

    - Driving is on "rails"
    - Taking the camera away and looking back, it spawns different NPCs.
    - Police system doesn't exist
    - Stealth doesn't work

This lack of interactiveness ultimately makes the world feel hollow. It feels dead. It feels unfinished. It feels like a linear action shooter. Like Call of Duty in the future.

That card was already obsolete the day Red dead 2 came out.

Just get a new RTX/RX already, and just blame the scalpers when they are out of stock.

I have been playing the game for the last two weeks with only a few bugs impeding my gameplay. The story may very well be one of the best I've experiencing in a video game, with the player options and side quests having a lasting impact on my choices. With that said, this is a true open world game, yes there are linear quests, but the chance to explore and experience the world is there, and what a beautiful world it is.

The graphics are very good, at times breathtaking. The world is rendered with a quality very rarely seen in video games and it may be this fact that led to so many problems with the console editions. It's hard for me to believe anything but a mid-range to high end pc could actually manage this game.

The controls are good, sketchy at times, but no worse than other leaders in this genre, i.e. Skyrim, Fallout, and Witcher, in fact they are better than Witcher in almost every regard.

The difficulty at normal seems, easy? That would be my only concern. It should have been Very Easy, Easy, Normal, and Hard as the levels of difficulty. The only missions that stop me on normal difficulty are Hard or Very Hard missions, and even then I've completed hard missions after some reloads.

Overall I would say this may be regarded as one of the best video games every released. Is it a 10 now? No, Will it be a ten in a year, I believe it absolutely will be. Can you enjoy it on PC now? Yes and yes. I recommend this on PC to all my friends. It's an amazing game that will only get better.

Having played this game after patch 1.5 I feel like it’s a solid game with a few bugs here and there that don’t really break the experience. Great writing, great story, great voice acting, meaningful side missions… Honestly, I don’t know what there isn’t to like about this.

On the pc version i have experiences very few glitches and when they do its mostly some npc glitching into something. No crashes or game breaking bugs.

There is so much going on in this game. Main missions are awesome. Most sidemissions have the same quality and often same length as main missions. There are also shorter missions called gigs that are fun to play.

No problem recommending this game your pc is up to it. Its demanding with all whistle and bells on, but turning down gfx and effects it can be played also on older pc's.

Excited to see what more they will do with time with this game. It can only get even better.

This game is a huge buggy mess. textures don't load i can see through the world. it feels like this game has huge memory leak issue. if you move around or drive around, its no wonder they took out flying cars for players. the world doesn't load in and often you can stand around having done nothing and objects will be floating, npcs will pop in out of no where.

the ground wont even be there. smh. so done with the gaming industry and all the **** instead of spending all that money on keanu reeves and music bands, i like keanu but the music is garbage, a simple (fallout 3/4 style) talk radio station that plays a few tracks of music that had cyber tronica or edm would have been clever and a lot better.

the storys ok but the bugs are just kicking my ass. im at the point and barley into act 2 where i just don't even wanna play.

soon as i get into the game it crashes or spaz's out or something happens not due to even playing the game that just is hugly off putting.

give it a year maybe they'll fix some bugs and it'll be playable. this just flat out reminds me of fallout 76's **** all over again, a trend that is getting way to common place in the gaming industry. releasing trash and telling me its truffle laden gold.

Some Quests or NPC'S got stuck and i had to reload a Savegame. Some Interface and sound bugs or texture loading bugs... but i cant say that this has made an impact on my gaming experience at all.

I feel in its current state an 8 is fair.

The game despite bugs, and yes there are a fair few, runs smooth on my setup, at pretty much max settings.
Now that said i cannot use ray tracing as i am on a 10XX nvidia card.
    My setup is,
    CPU- i5 7600k
    GPU- 1070
    RAM- 16gb HyperX
    HDD- WD Black
    OS - Win 10, EVO 860 m.2 SSD
    Running at 1080p

I am a good 20+ hours in, and i have not crashed once.
I had the tree glitch at first, but after updating my drivers that went away.
The bulk extent of my bugs are pop in, NPC's and vehicles sometimes taking a while to fully render (it might be just bc i am running off of a HDD, not an SSD), floating objects, generally little things that have fallen off dead NPC's or knocked down.

But other then that, runs smooth, and i have really been enjoying the game, i have paid more for less game.
i feel even with bugs the games well worth the money, its not like its FO76 and they are not fixing the game, they are working hard to fix issues.

I would have considered this a solid 9.5 (i don't believe any game is a 10 nothing is perfect)
if choices had more consequences, and many of the features promised where fully fleshed out.
But i genuinely feel that we where not outright lied to in that regard, it genuinely feels like they planned to have those elements in the game, but time constraints just did not allow for it.

I am hoping like no mans sky, we will see a good chunk of these elements rolled out later on, with player feedback.

The games not done yet, there is plenty of planned story DLC so improvements are coming.
And there is a whole MP build in the works as well.

unlike the disingenuous 3k+ morons, i am giving what i feel is an honest review, as someone who is playing and enjoying what is there.

The cyberpunk theme is a miss, i found Deus Ex so much better at giving you this feeling, the colors are too damn bright, so many bright colors, the soundtrack is a disapointment, again Deus Ex soundtrack is so much better.
The leveling mechanics are ok, but not that much relevant.
The worst is that they release a unfinished, unpolished, buggy mess. Worst they hide the real game images before launch so no one saw the crap they were presented.

I enjoy the 'side gigs' but I would have preferred less side gigs and more story driven side quests. The main story is compelling and interesting so far. Overall this game is good, for people to give it a **** 1-3 is a completely idiotic, everyone is just angry because CD Projekt Red didn't **** save the universe and reverse global warming. Also, why is metacritic one of the worst places to look at users reviews? I think it's because unlike Steam you don't see how long someone has played a game, they just toss a review and they could've played an hour at best. Easily put in 90 hours doing side and main missions, wished the main story was longer and a little more impact in the world when completing major missions or side gigs. Time flew by when playing and a few sleep deprived days ensued with 'its what time?!?!?!' when taking a break.

Perhaps expectations and early bugs held the game back from higher reviews. The game was on the cusp of greatness, Skyrim or RR2 scale and could have maybe been the best game ever. Just falls short of that.

    It was very enjoyable.

On the PC, there is no walking, absolute scripting, TMC hands reach the floor, if you look down and beat your fists, the corpse on the table is one texture, damn it, they were too lazy to make a separete model. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is a very disappointing and remains an ultimately flawed game. It is erratic, has what I think is a poor and largely pointless story line in which, the protagonist is basically a dead man. It offers a totally meaningless experience in which basically, everything you do, all the people you meet, the jobs, the good or the bad you choose etc is totally pointless because regardless, you are going to die either at the end or shortly after the end. The story breaks the game almost form the start point and it's quite obvious where the writers were going to take this story regardless of their other options because like most writers these days, they think that this concept of meaningless and futility is what they want to produce and establish in people and societies mind. It is weak writing, poor in its entire concept and does the opposite of why people play games. On top of this the game is still full of bugs, pit falls and a significant level of barren boring dialogue and minor stories.

CDPR get some things right like the multiple avenues to complete most things. Do I punch my way, sneak my way, talk my way of think my way through? They all work. Levelling up seems slow and I'm never really sure how it happens when it does but it's an interesting progression tree.

Weapons are, apart from a few exceptions very vanilla and samey. Death happens far too easily. Choices are actually quite linear which is the opposite of what was supposed to happen... There are lots of things to pick on (and this is after years worth of improvement).

The biggest and most painful failures though are the fact that CDPR clearly WANT the world to be like this. They have publicly said that cybernetics and human machine interface is the way to go and they clearly have a love fest over their own Cyberpunk ideas that they are advertising the ideas and ideals of such an environment. I find this terrifying and sadly I think it is part of a mass advertising spree to adapt people to accept such a progression away from humanity. Maybe I'm wrong but just like the GLBTI stuff that was light about 10-20 years ago and now infects everything from Health and Safety to western attitudes to politics with other powers and even of abusive control of other, weaker nations. I have a hunch CDPR have become tangled up in something much bigger than games and interesting stories. This is harmful to society in general but also destroys the gaming industry.

This game is awesome, immersive, and might have the best presentation in any game that I've ever played. The scale and density of detail is second to none. It's not the biggest world around if measured by land area, but I think it's the most well realized we've seen so far.

Plot and story-wise I found that it helped me immensely to have first read The World of Cyberpunk 2077, since I was previously unfamiliar with the details of the Cyberpunk universe. I could see complete newbies to the lore being somewhat confused and overwhelmed. There are some built-in lore dumps that can help, but that's probably not the best way to learn about the world. For me it's a bit less approachable than the world of the Witcher as they just kind of dump you in the middle of it without much of an intro. At least, that's how it was when I started my corpo lifepath character.

As I'm sure you've heard by now, yes, it currently has WAY more bugs than it should, but I am confident that they will be fixed. If you don't want to deal with bugs, then go ahead and wait a few months, but for me the quality of the game is otherwise so high that I can handle it being in a bit of a mess. It's unfortunate because the bugs are doing a massive disservice to this game. It's a testament to the game's other qualities that I still love it so much in spite of the numerous issues.

Performance is acceptable, and actually pretty good if you don't enable ray tracing. It's definitely a power hog if you wanna use RT, as it will nearly halve your frame rate immediately. I spent 3 weeks without sleep so I could get an RTX 3080, it's too bad Nvidia sucks and didn't produce enough of these cards for everyone who wanted one in time for this release. This is definitely a game that we will keep coming back to as new hardware generations are released.

Pick it up now if you can handle the bugs, but it's not going anywhere if you want to wait for a more polished experience.

Because I think a lot of people were expecting GTA with its stupid minigames all over the place and fleshed out wanted system and whatnot. it's obvious CDPR never set out to make that, they wanted to make a straight forward FPSRPG with a story like deus ex human revolution. That game had an open world too, but without all the boring GTA minigames or wanted system.

So in closing: If you liked Deus Ex Human revolution and want a game like that, except with an even greater story, play this game. If you like Witcher 3 and its dialogue heavy story, play this game. If you want GTAV2 and want to mindlessly drive around shooting people and playing in a sandbox, don't.

Literally the only bugs I encountered so far is the infamous trees glitch, and the game failing to leave combat zone and the quickhack view twice. I had to reload a few minutes of gameplay im either case. The game never crashed.

Maybe I am lucky but I just don't see the supposed mass of bugs people complain about and IMHO the game more than makes up for any with its qualities. Also, c'mon, for an AAA game with so much content and such graphics, would you really expect it to be perfect on launch? It is only my opinion but I prefer to judge games on potential, feel, ambition and uniqueness. Glitches routinely happen on launch, they are fixed and nobody remembers them in the long run.

The game was absolutely worth the wait.

    2. Awful characters - Everyone I met so far is like a stupid teenager trying to look hip in front of the cool guys, if I hear "biz" one more time, I m gonna vomit. Its like they copied the turds from modern NFS games. I ve never skipped conversations in games, but here I felt like doing so not far from the beginning...

    3. Immersion breakers everywhere - Valuable loot on the street next to bums; Armored truck blowing up from handgun shots; Punched a guy in a gym, ppl started cowering two block away; Police magically appearing when you commit a crime etc etc...

    4. Awful AI- Nothing to elaborate on, its just ****

    5. Shallow build options - I dont have to play a lot to know this, looked at the skills, most of them are stat upgrades.

    6. Lack of choice - Ok this is sus, cause I only played 8 hours, but the utter lack of any player agency in conversations is alarming. My char has one line that progresses the story or I can add a stupid remark or question (so far). I dont even have a choice in how to react, not to mention decide how I wanna handle things...

    7. Driving is like its from a '90s game

    8. Uninteresting loot - The game showers you with so many (mostly irrelevant) loot, that its impossible to ghet excited about exploration. Moreover you gonna spend a considerable amount of time salvaging everything, cause ofc everything is worth more salvaged....

    9. Metric **** of bugs

On the good side it ran like butter for me in 4k, the city and characters look and sound amazing, but that not why you would play a CDPR game for....

TLDR: Boring story (might get good later), Awful and uninteresting characters and fkign immersion breakers everywhere

The plot is not bad, but the ending / ending is obvious after the mission with the biochip.
Russian voice acting - it was enough for me for half an hour, then I returned to English. The quantity and quality of mat in Russian is much greater and it is inappropriate in places where it is absent in English at all. Plus, the very quality of Russian voice acting is bad.

The best metaphor for Cyberpunk 2077 is Johnny Silverhand himself. A messiah, a mix of Kurt Cobain and Che Guevara, a talented singer who loves to shape his own legend and has a charming personality but loses the struggle with his own demons. The same goes for the game. It tells a great story and forced me to ask myself difficult questions, but many of its gameplay mechanics do not evolve and its technical state upon release was abysmal. Cyberpunk’s true hero is not a person, but Night City – a vibrant, living creature of great diversity. The beauty of the metropolis is striking. [01/2021, p.22]

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most disturbing and mind-blowing RPGs in history, where every decision has a deep impact on our trail. CD Projekt RED tosses us to the center of a city filled with disgusting delights where every character deserves our attention in an immersive experience and overall, very rewarding. From the sarcastic and shadowy tone imposed by the countless scenes in the game, to the flexibility we have on the choices to face every situation that is presented, Night City is truly memorable. It’s a shame that the countless bugs spoil or diminish the impact of some resounding moments, but we are without a question, in the presence of one of the best games in 2020.

Measured against the extreme expectations, Cyberpunk 2077 can't fulfill any of them. But all in all, despite the countless small weaknesses and inconsistences, with interesting characters, great story and dialogues or the freedom concerning gameplay, CD Projekt delivers a unique and great RPG that every fan of the genre needs to play.
