    Amazing art direction, soundtrack and animations. There's plenty of personality in every frame and the gameplay is dynamic and challenging making an almost perfect experience.

The drawings are perfect and, the colors are correctly handled. The difficulty is well-sized, probably not for kids, but everyone else can confront this.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Cuphead is a very hard well made development for 3 (Or More Than 3) Years.
    Story:
    Story is about cuphead and mugman getting to casino even althought uncle warned to not get in. Having a win strike devil appeared, offering if they would win they will take all money, however if they lose devil will take the souls. Mugman knew that it was too risky to do that but Cuphead cared about money. They lost and forced to take the souls. However they would want to do anything to him to keep their souls. Devil gave them a job to get every souls that has been assigned for 1 day. This is where all began.
    Gameplay:
    The gameplay is simple, there are at least 2 run a gun level at 3 world. All other levels are bosses. The character have 3 health (4 or 5 incase of upgradment) if they run out of health they die. If all of them dies (Or Solo Player Dies) its start from begging. The default controlls aren't very good. I do prefer use controller since its easier to master at steering. The game is about learning the mistakes. Its a hard game because it wants you to learn about mistakes. Lets just say that you died on phase 3 on Goopy Le Grande because you didn't knew attacks. And now you know what he does on phase 3 and its easier to beat. However there are bugs like locked game after dying (The game continiues without enabling to pause and forcing to press alt+f4), the bosses freezing after doing something (Making boss very easier). There are found on twitch livestreams on speedrun or normal ones. Music is amazing they were done very well.
    Graphics:
    Graphics is well made with animation with 60 Frames. It takes art direction from '20 Disney Cartoons. Drawing,color,effect are amazing. Its like playing a very harded working game for 8 year.
    Results:
    Cuphead is a amazing game. Might be GOTY but of course there will be other games that somehow will dominate this game. However because of Glitches the game might get 10/10. However 9 score from glitches is fair. Well done Studio MDHR!

    Great gameplay, visuals, and sense of accomplishment upon beating a boss. It's great to see a game like this in a time when so many games would rather adhere to a boring cookie-cutter and appeal to the lowest common denominator. Cuphead gets a pinkies-up from me.

    This game, artistically, is phenomenal with the hand drawn animation and AMAZING backgrounds. The music will also shine and I had several songs stuck in my head. Gameplay - it's EXTREMELY hard, but not unfair. People will call it bad out of pure rage. I wish it was longer, but it deserves its high praise. This is DEFINITELY a must buy from 2017.

    You know how a joke can start funny, get annoying, then become funny again through sheer attrition? That’s Cuphead’s approach to enjoyment. With a beautiful, caustic, near-unceasing stream of boss battles, Studio MDHR’s debut made me scream with joy and horror by turn, but I settled on joy by the end.

    The most obvious point to begin with is that Cuphead looks astonishing. Its 1930s    You know how a joke can start funny, get annoying, then become funny again through sheer attrition? That’s Cuphead’s approach to enjoyment. With a beautiful, caustic, near-unceasing stream of boss battles, Studio MDHR’s debut made me scream with joy and horror by turn, but I settled on joy by the end.

    The most obvious point to begin with is that Cuphead looks astonishing. Its 1930s animation style – all watercolour backgrounds and surreal, juddering, hand-drawn characters – pay peerless homage to Max Fleischer and his ilk, and are perfectly implemented. Somehow it manages to balance dozens of moving elements and a slight rear-projection blur without ever feeling unreadable in even the most frantic moments. There has never been a game that looks like this and there may never be again. Every scene is a masterwork – it’s a near-unbelievable achievement for an art style.

    The sound work is an ideal match: a huge jumble of high-tempo ragtime, swing, big band, and jazz (the list of musicians is almost as long as the rest of the credits combined) pummels away wonderfully in the background of every fight. It makes Cuphead feel truly out of time, and its bizarre mix of ‘30s aesthetics and ‘80s design more heady than ever. I also feel duty-bound to point out that the way Porkrind the shopkeeper bellows “welcome” made me laugh every single time I heard it.
    There’s no doubt that it’s gorgeous, and many people will be drawn to that, but that veneer conceals a very niche, hardcore design. You may have gleaned by now that this game is really, really hard. It’s absolutely uncompromising in its difficulty from the outset. No level includes checkpoints and, barring one late-game match-up, there is no way to regain lost health. You could hit levels that take hours to beat, and the finale is locked off until you beat every other level on “Regular” difficulty (i.e. extremely difficult). And don’t think that local co-op will ease things up – dropping in a second player as Cuphead’s pal Mugman makes events onscreen that much harder to follow. I find it actively harder with a second player, if anything.

    And so, as I played I gradually stopped noticing a lot of the glorious art, because actually interacting with Cuphead is so hectic, so stressful, that it just gets filed away by my right-brain as a distraction. That skyscraper-tall robot firing laser barriers is just three hovering hitboxes and a series of no-go zones. When one boxing glove-wearing frog eats another to turn itself into an evil slot machine, that’s nothing more than a phase change. My favourite boss design – a giant bird wearing cuckoo clock armour and its tiny, ray gun-wielding chick – fires wads of garbage at you by literally turning its head into a bin, but I only noticed that detail when I watched someone else play it hours later.

    Perhaps Cuphead’s smartest, most devilish addition is in how all these types of levels taunt you into playing more. No enemy has a health bar, nor an indication for when you’re getting close to a knockout – instead, when you die you’re shown a graph of how close you were to the KO or the next phase of the battle. It reduces screen clutter while also encouraging (or perhaps that should be “berating”) you into taking another crack at it.

    Cuphead is as tough as it is beautiful, Cuphead won't be to everyone's tastes, but there's absolutely no doubting its quality.    … Expand

Cause You Can Obviously See How Much CLEAR EFFORT That Has Been Put In Cup-head. From A Potato, An Onion And A Carrot, To The Big Slammer Of The Devil!     I could only play this game now, Cuphead has a very high difficulty, it took me 30 minutes to pass the stages, the sounds and the visual enchanted me. It's a very good game.

    It is hard. I have seen worst but it's hard. You still see progress every run you make and the game is verry generous that you can start a level again right away.

    It's a nice Arcade style throwback experience. I strongly recommend if you like this kind of game, pure, arcade, frustrating, satisfaying, fun.

    I recommend this game to everyone who believes in himself, wants to learn patience, unity with his Self and watched Naruto.
    A little more and it was possible to put a cast on your fingers, but I coped.

    Cuphead is an amazing experience you should by any means try out. I personally picked it up with a friend of mine which had bought it. The game was indeed hard, although that wasn't a suprise. the bosses are the main focus of the game and stand out above all else except perhaps the music.     This game definitely deserves all the attention it gets. The gameplay is impressive, the graphics are outstanding, the bosses are creative, the music fits with the various settings and everything about the game feels like a throwback to old Disney cartoons or Fleischer's works. Probably my only complaint is the difficulty of the boss fights, but I can forgive Cuphead for that since one ofThis game definitely deserves all the attention it gets. Probably my only complaint is the difficulty of the boss fights, but I can forgive Cuphead for that since one of the inspirations of the game was Contra, one of the hardest games on the Nintendo Entertainment System.

    One of my favorite PC games. Difficult and tedious at times--the Dark Souls of Run and Guns--but well worth the struggle, if you like that sort of thing. I spent countless hours learning the patterns and such of the bosses, and eventually beat the whole game. The achievements are quite easy if you try hard enough to beat the bosses, which is great for achievement hunters like me. The artOne of my favorite PC games. Difficult and tedious at times--the Dark Souls of Run and Guns--but well worth the struggle, if you like that sort of thing. I spent countless hours learning the patterns and such of the bosses, and eventually beat the whole game. The achievements are quite easy if you try hard enough to beat the bosses, which is great for achievement hunters like me. The art style is very similar to older Disney movies and it looks very good. There is replayability in the expert mode and trying to get S-rank on every level. Even the run and gun levels are fun and interesting.     Играл с другом через программу и один тоже. игра затянула интересно проходить её и какой же кайф проходить босса которого 54 минуты не могли осилить именно таких игр не хватало.
    Однако в некоторых моментах не понятно как действовать против босса, но возможно у меня только такая проблема. а так как обычно 12 хованских в магазине из 10    Играл с другом через программу и один тоже. игра затянула интересно проходить её и какой же кайф проходить босса которого 54 минуты не могли осилить именно таких игр не хватало.

    La jugabilidad es simple de entender: disparar a matar y no morir en el intento. Una formula que ha funcionado por décadas y que vuelve a funcionar... ya en el juego es un poco más complicado que eso. Cuphead se basa en peleas contra Bosses con muy muy pocos escenarios de plataforma y, aunque podría sonar aburrido, la verdad es que no lo es. Lo anterior debido, en gran parte, a que nos tomará vaaaarios intentos ganarle a cada Boss.

    Los pocos niveles plataformeros son bastante complicados también, así que no nos darán respiro.

    GRÁFICOS:
    El estilo de arte es precioso. Es todo lo que diré.

    SONIDO:
    Los desarrolladores no lo han descuidado ni un poco, por el contrario, me parece que se han esforzado mucho en que la música compuesta para el juego sea igual de adictiva que el Gameplay mismo. ¡Lo han logrado! Es uno de esos soundtrack que da gusto escuchar aún cuando no se está jugando.

    INNOVACIÓN:
    Un Run-and-Gun con música y estilo de arte inspirado en los años 30, con un 80% de Gameplay siendo Boss fights, con una dificultad para sudar, que se burla en tu cara cada vez que pierdes... no se me ocurre algo parecido.    … Expand

    Cup head is a masterpiece, it's ineradicable how they made a video game look like a old cartoon, but you shouldn't have to get a pacifist ranking on every run'n gun stage to get a black and white filter, Other than that it's pretty good.

    Artistically, Cuphead is simply perfect. From character design to animations, environments, the effort to recreate the cartoon world of the 30's pays off and Studio MDHR deliver a coherent colorful, frenzied universe which totally fits the cynical but funny story of the main characters. I can't emphasize enough how great the art is and how well it serves the gameplay and the pleasure of playing.

    Speaking of art, the OST is divine. I had never bought any OST on Steam before, but for Cuphead it seemed like the very least I could do to thank the composer Kris Maddigan of his work, a real piece of art ! The rag-jazz mix is amazing and and fits the frenzy of the gameplay perfectly.

    Using the Remote Play feature, it is now possible to play the whole in coop online with a friend (and also locally). Hours of fun and challenge in perspective.

    There's so much more to say about this game, but you need to discover it by yourself. It's one of the best games I played in these last years. And don't wait for discounts, even the full price is cheap considering the quality and the huge work behind this game.    … Expand

    This game is very good and the animation is very beautiful to look at. The game at the beginning lack a lot though for new players to get into it making some leave without getting through the first level and want to delete the game. Information was taken from my cousin.

    45 hours of the best co-op Ive ever played in my life. I played with my brother, and we both agree, its not just the best co-op game, but the best multi-player game we've played together. Its hard to feel super satisfying when you complete a level, but not impossibly hard. Knockout!

    Absolutely incredible game, even if it took me and my best friend more than 2 years to finish it. You should ve seen our faces when we had finally beaten the last boss before King Dice and we understood that for having the opportunity to defeat him, we had to beat all the other bosses in regular, not in simple difficulty...

The fact that every boss battle in this game features literally hundreds of frames of animation is just seriously impressive. The game play is also of course very fun but it sometimes feels like some things are added to fights with only the intent to make the fight harder not more fun. Some examples of this are the auto scroll in some fights like Grim matchstick and that stupid bee. There is also a fight in the dlc that literally flips the screen disorienting your view. None of these things are fun to deal with but they are otherwise small road bumps in this overall pretty great game.… Expand

Ze względu na to, że są one podzielone na dwa typy, rozgrywka jest bardzo zróżnicowana. Chociarz obie są wysokiej jakości, to nie oszukujmy się - te pierwsze są wyszszej. Wspomniane zróżnicowanie przejawia się niestety też w poziomie trudności - zdarzyło się, że przeciwnik z wyspy pierwszej był trudniejszy niż przeciwnik z wyspy trzeciej. Na pocieszenie mamy chociarz wybór poziomu trudności.
    Gra oferuje nam kilka rodzajów broni i umiejętności. Tych pierwszych efekty wizualne są bardzo satysfakcjonujące, w przeciwieństwie niestety do tych dźwiękowych. Dźwięki są ledwo zauwarzalne. Wiem dobrze co na celu miał ten zabieg - nie psucie klimatu. W podobnym celu nie są podawane efekty ataku, zadawane bronią obrażenia czy nawet pasek życia wrogów. To wielkie minusy.
    Jaki jest jednak najwiękrzy tej gry plus? Zaraz po grafice i muzyce, bzdurność przeciwników to najwiękrzy atut Cupheada. A jaki jest najwiękrzy minus? Brak nagrody za pokonanie wroga. Nic. Żadnej monetki, punktu. Nic.

I do not have a single complaint about the presentation, its truly something you have to see and experience, I can't think of anything else like it.

    The gameplay is also amazing. The gameplay really calls back to the platformers from the SNES era - this includes the challenge and frustration as well. It has a balance between run and gun levels and boss battle levels. What I think this game does the best is capturing the spirit of memorization that was required for the SNES era. You could not beat many platformers from that era without trial and error, and then blend that into memorization. This game is brutal and punishing of any mistakes. The more your try a level, the more you will fail, you will probably become a bit frustrated, but you don't realize how each attempt you get one step closer to completing the level. While this was common in games from the early 90's, this is something that people who are not used to the challenge may struggle with. I highly recommend this to everyone and encourage everyone to push through the frustration, because that is how we got satisfaction from gaming as a kid. You would get stuck on a level for days, sometimes weeks, but when you beat the level, the amount of satisfaction and sense of achievement that you feel is something that cannot be replicated.

    Such a strange blend of perfect graphics and sound design from nearly 100 years ago while making a huge callback to gaming from 30 years ago. Amazing game.    … Expand

    For the simple retro style that it has, it already deserves a 10 but speaking of gameplay it is very good with easy to learn and intuitive controls if it is difficult but that is the grace of the game since there is nothing more satisfactory than to beat that boss who annoyed you highly recommended.

    I had the time of the world playing Cuphead, the game's so charming and fun. Cuphead is one of the best indie releases of the recent years and due to its unique and beautiful art style it never felt like an indie game to me. Cuphead is one of those very few games that i demand a sequel for it.

Everything about this game is gorgeous the graphics to the gameplay. The difficulty is well-balanced as well. My only complaint is that They could have made a better balance between bosses and run n gun levels.

    The game's hand drawn animation is beautiful and the world is charming. Little details such as the menu saying the game was made in 1931 really elevate the overall experience. The bosses are all filled with so much life and the game strikes the prefect balance between difficult and insanity.

I've only played the game through once and that was with a friend so I can't really talk that much about the single player difficulty but can say it is not easy no matter which version you decide to play. For example, I went to the frogs boss battle in both single player and CO-OP but the amount of time to beat it was more or less the same no matter what version I played. When I did eventually get to the final boss with said friend, we both felt this massive sense of accomplishment and we still remain proud we finished it. I did have plans on playing through the game again but seeing how some bosses almost me and my friend go insane trying to beat and the game being a bit more difficult on my own, that single player run will probably never happen. However I will say this, I never felt cheated during a particular boss. Everything felt fair and balanced (maybe it's cause I've been cranking up my difficulty settings in games but overall, I think it does it's job). I really loved Cuphead and seeing how the Delicious Last Course (Cuphead DLC) came out not too long ago, I was blown away by how much this game nails what it sets out to do. I even beat it with that same friend not too long ago and we both fell in love with it. An already good game with a little cherry on top to truly make it worth buying and playing. If you need something different from whatever games you've been playing right now, try Cuphead out and see if you like it. I can understand the difficulty being a turn-off for most players but I truly think it's worth it regardless of how much you fail because that eventual victory will feel so good that you feel ready for anything. And if you want, play it with a friend to make the experience more enjoyable and fun (just don't be annoying, revive your friends if they die please). Anyways, thanks for reading. Peace out.… Expand

    Insanely neat and unique art style and gameplay for this 2D side scroller. it is something I can go back to when I want a hard game to play but don't feel like I want to poke my eyes out (*cough cough dark souls). Would 100% recommend to anyone who's up for a challenge but be aware this game is brutally difficult so play at your own risk.

The run and gun levels are pretty mediocre though and can be frustrating to get through, especially to ocean one in Isle 3. The game has barely any bad things to say, the end of the game sort of falls short, less epic and tedious with king dice and the devil Is a mediocre boss. I also dislike some off the random factors in bosses, like attacks that line up to be almost impossible, rng attacks that are the only thing that feel unfair. This game is a masterpiece with barely any shortcomings and is practically perfect. I never had a huge problem with the difficulty but others may. The two player mode is loafs of fun too, but breaks some bosses. The doubling health on fights like the devil makes you see the same attacks even more and drags them out, while not quite as tight in two player, an absolute blast. I highly recommend this game to more experienced players and is a must play.… Expand

    The music is great and the responsiveness and controls are spot on - although it is a controller game. Playing with the keyboard works, but suboptimal. I am fairly sure that any serious buyer will have a controller though.

    Breathtaking cartoon-like is not enough to hide angry that player feels with extreme difficulty in this game. Everything in Cuphead delightfully remits to the past. 30's cartoon style, mario-and-sonic like plataform phases and principally challenging difficulty just like mega man.

    You should definitely get this game! The art style alone is worth the 20€. It looks and sounds unique in the best possible way. There aren't too many mechanics and the ones that are in the game work decently enough. Playing with a controller is advisable, because the game just doesn't play good at all on a keyboard.     Very good game with a few flaws in both design and reason.

    You're given 6 charms but only one of them widely considered the must crucial to success with that being the smoke power upgrade which heavily detracts one from using any of the other charms. There's a simple mode but it's not useful in the slightest. You can't use it as practice because it removes attack patterns. You    Very good game with a few flaws in both design and reason.

    Outside of that, the game is fairly straight forward that plays more like a mix of megaman and contra only far less forgiving.
    To a hardcore fan this is fantastic to say the least as it will offer a great challenge!

    If you're looking for a hard game with no give then look no further.
    Just don't deal with the devil...

    The graphics are obviously beautiful, but from what I've seen, there's a lot of game-breaking glitches (most of which aren't found in a casual play, hopefully) going about and the game has only been out for a while. Also, bullet hell games aren't really my thing as I'm not a big fan of a cluttered screen, but that's just my opinion.

Sure, it's not a greater achievement if you were able to beat it on an easier difficulty, but maybe include some kind of trophy screen where you can see the different game modes you've completed? Because, easy Cuphead isn't hard Cuphead. It's not the same achievement.    … Expand

If you aren’t a fan of tough games, I’d still recommend checking it out when it goes on sale later on down the line. The graphics alone are worth giving it a look.     Me pregunto que sentido tiene el mapa parece que hay dos versiones de jefe para rellenar, pero lo veo mal organizado en general tambien su dificultad elevada lo hace pesado.
    Pero lo increible es lo que consigue en cuanto adaptar la jugabilidad al entorno ademas es impresionante como te sorprende cada jefe y mundo nuevo es lo mejor querer ver que sorprendente idea han tenido,

Everything in the game is vintage, from the characters to the graphics; and    Cuphead brings a new experience we're not used to see in platform games.     The artistic design is what makes this game so special. Everything in the game is vintage, from the characters to the graphics; and we'll never get tired of it. However, what also stands out is the difficulty of this title, which is high and challenging.
    All the bosses are really worked out and each of them have its own personality and a different ways to defeat them. We'll feel like we're facing a brand new challenge every time we face a new one, so the game is far away from being repetitive.
    What is a bit disappointing are the run' gun levels, which are very little. It's a pity because they had a great potential and were really fun. I'd have definitivelywanted many more. Most of the abilities you can exchange for coins in the game shop are not useful at all. In addition, the only ones that really worth it are available almost from the beginning.
    Cuphead is an indie game with the quality of a AAA. Which is something that has a lot of value taking into account the budget these usually have. So I'd widely recommend this game for every platforming lover who wants something different from what we're used to see.    … Expand

    It is easy to tell that the developers studied the history of the genre through and through, delivering a stellar run and gun experience brought to life with unique old fashioned cartoon graphics. It may have it flaws, but when a game is this appealing it is easy to forgive.
