NEVA!!! It makes so much fun, i'm still playing some parts of it if I want to. OK. The story is linear and you always move from A to B but the way moving from A to B is NOT linear. The nanosuit is such a cool thing and the weapons make fun, too. Two Point less. One because the characters. They are full of stereotypes. And a second because this boring Music. The way you saw aztec gutted in the beginning of the game you figure your in for a survival horror treat with some sort of predatory alien which would have added even more flavor to the jungle stalking combat with the Koreans but instead you encounter flying squids with laser guns. Just constantly kill, blow, kill, blow... And if you stop here, some NK chopper or soldier will do the job. - not the same freedom you could find in Far Cry. The A.I. doesn't allow anything than kill, blow, kill, blow.... I'll not play this game twice. This is terrible, it should deserve it ! - some NCP are insanely difficult to kill - from "easy" to "delta" setting. For example, some NK soldiers wear the same nanosuit but are far more tougher or indestructible than you ! - too much hype about this game. Yes, it's beautiful. But has also no personality. I prefer Bioshock, more endearing. - the game's end is somehow ridiculous or disappointing. - some vehicules are a real pain in the neck to drive. Nothing has change since Far Cry... worst things are.. still worst. One last word towards Crytek : "Easy" means .... Easy. This game is fun, but it does have problems. And since everyone else doesn't like to mention them, I will. 1. The sheer number of enemies and the limited number of approaches you can take to deal with them. Basically, the game asks you "Can you kill these 5 Koreans?" "You can? OK, can you kill 5 Koreans... on a beach?" "OK, what about 5 Koreans... on a hill?" "Near a school?" "5 This game is fun, but it does have problems. Basically, the game asks you "Can you kill these 5 Koreans?" "You can? OK, can you kill 5 Koreans... on a beach?" "OK, what about 5 Koreans... on a hill?" "Near a school?" "5 Koreans dressed in black? In white? With gold chains?" You see where I'm going with this. Sooner rather than later, you yearn for something else other than taking care of the same old 5 Koreans. Unfortunately, it takes a very long time for this to happen, and by then there's only an hour of the game left. 2. The bugs. There are numeous bugs. At one point I managed to split in two, with the game rendering 4 arms, legs and two weapons. In another incident, a Korean walked past a crate, bumped his hip and fell over dead. Unfortunately, minutes later so did I. So avoid the crates! They may sit there looking all woody and innocent, but they're cold-blooded killers! 3. You can beat the game by using cheesy tacitcs, like exploiting your cloak, as I did. Run right up to a guy with cloak on, switch to speed (so you regen energy), head-shot him and immediately cloak again. If you balance your health with your energy (hint: cloaking makes health increase, energy decrease, and speed is the opposite), you can run into a room full of enemies and take them all out with impunity. Well, impunity and the odd quick re-load. However, since killing the same old 5 Koreans got a bit dull, no matter how I did it, I used cloak and speed to bypass many fights altogether. It's not like I was missing anything that I hadn't done 50 times already. 4. WAY WAY TOO SHORT! (after you finish with the 5,000 Koreans) Just as the game was picking up, it ends. Well, boo. In total, I played one whole evening and a couple hours the next. And that's your lot, until the sequel. There will be a sequel, becuase the ending concludes nothing story-wise. Now If you just bought an expensive new gfx card, you'll probably want to give Crysis 10/10. After all, you've got to justify your investment. But seriously guys and gals, this isn't game of the year material. Engine of the year - sure I'll be happy to give it that - but not GOTY. Oh, almost missed something... 6. Re-spawning Koreans. As if there weren't enough of them anyhow. Expand

Weapons - All the weapons look, sounded, and just performed amazingly. I would've liked a bit more variety, maybe another pistol maybe a melee knife or something else but thats for modders to do, storywise all the weapons fit in well. Ending - I would've enjoyed another 10 hours of gameplay if need be rather then the ending I got. The ending was probably the weakest point to me, mostly because it was an open ending and chances are I'll have to wait 2 years for the next game. OVERALL - This is a great game for any FPS fan out there. The single player campaign is lengthy and fun, a bit linear but also plenty of room to play with awesome weapons and suit powers. Multiplayers a bit tacked on with little modes but when Sandbox2 bugs are fixed and modders come out of the woodworks this engine I'm sure will be amazing! Honestly the only reason I'm not giving this game a 10 is the multiplayer, it is only mildly balanced, instant action is great, but the conquest type map play would be a lot better if a strong player couldn't buy a V-TOL and just bomb everyone from the sky, sure everyone else can too, but if you just joined a server that has been in a game for a long time, you'll basically be screwed. The story wasn't that interesting. The gameplay was nice, but the interesting modes have promised more than they have delivered... The graphics were also rather overhyped. All the praise came from lush, green and very saturated environments. Overall - not a bad game, but far from polished.

Probably the one of the best shooter experiences out there in terms of singleplayer. It all really comes down to the visuals. Sure the plot wasn't fantastic but when you are marveling at the sheer beauty of the game most of the time. It does have multiplayer but it's not all that worthwhile. The singleplayer is pretty unforgettable so if your machine can handle it get this game.

multiplayer: it was actually quite fun, but not executed as well as i had expected, but it was still fun. the mode power struggle was a tad confusing at the start, but you'll get it soon enough (and if you bother to watch the tutorial), and it was very fun. it let you play around with the game's toys, and the game mode resembles kind of more of a "conquest" mode from battlefield, but with added things, like-well, it is hard to explain, but the main objective is to destroy the enemy's base by capturing the capture points, and then (you somehow; i forgot how :/) you get the super weapons which you use to blow up the enemy's base. the other game mode is instant action/team deathmatch/ deathmatch, where you just kill each other, but it still has all of the tactical stuff in there. now, my main complaints for the multiplayer are:
you dont really know if you have shot someone, or if you have been hit; if you are hit, there is only a damage indicator, but no "omph" that you would get from the campaign if you were shot. and also, the only way to tell if you hit someone is if their name appears above their head, but there is no "hit" sound that was present in the campaign. my next complaint about multiplayer is lack of destruction (yes, i think that is a bit much to ask for for a 2007 game, but i think they could have done it anyway). it would have been much more cooler, and more epic, and shooting at a fence (that could have been easily broken down in the campaign) and finding it indestructible just dumbed down my multiplayer experience a little, but all well. also, it would have been cool if you could pick up objects like in multiplayer.... but too bad. awww, i would have liked to throw chickens at people on multiplayer, but all well. my last complaint about multiplayer is the lack of a proper ranking system. now, i dont want it to be like the terrible CoD, but a proper ranking system would have been nice. the ranking system in multiplayer is only available in power struggle mode, in which getting kills/ taking objectives gets you credits, which you can use to buy guns, attachments, add-ons (such as parachutes, and anti-nano things), and special vehicles/ weapons. however, your credits and rank is only on that ROUND on that SERVER, so when you switch rounds or switch servers, all of your hard work goes to waste, and your sense of achievement goes away....

despite it's problems, and its lack of improvements it could have had implemented, crysis is an work of art, and deserves to be in the hall of fame, next to classics such as half-life, and halo.

I gotta say the good words were all true. I loved the presentation of the story (granted the "remote island" setting is just a recycled idea from the Far Cry series, which I dock points for) and the advancement of the story kept me playing the game for hours because I wanted to see what happened next. I also came to like the protagonist of the game, Lieutenant Jake Dunn (referred to in-game only by his call-sign "Nomad"). A lot of parts in the game where the pacing slowed down a bit for suspense cued Nomad's thought with great timing. An example of this is when Nomad ventures deep into the island's mountain. The trip disrupts communication with his superiors, forcing him to improvise by recording everything he sees through his visor while describing the scenery in the hopes that someone outside can still hear him. That kind of personal interaction in the story is something I really liked, allowing me to connect to Nomad as a character. The open-world environment of the fictional Lingshan Islands also allowed for freedom of creativity for the player to complete their mission, whether they want to storm in guns blazing, or engage the nanosuit's cloak to sneak around the back of a building, silently taking down enemies along the way. That aspect of the game felt rather liberating. The destructible environments in the game was a breath of fresh air, as I could launch a rocket into a shack hiding an enemy soldier and watch it blow apart from the impact of the shockwave. However, not all of the objects were destructible, as I found some metal barricades surrounding some huts were completely impervious to all kinds of damage, including times when I rammed into the barricades with a Jeep only to get stopped dead in my tracks and getting the vehicle stuck. The AI of the enemies is also nearly realistic, with soldiers losing sight of you when you disappear into some bushes or hide in a small pond amidst some foliage. They also startle and jump back when they suddenly see you appear right in front of them as you grab a soldier by the neck and run off with him into the jungle before anyone knows what just happened. The full customization of the weapons also added to the creative freedom of the player, especially since it allows you to keep some of your favorite add-ons to your preferred weapons (I loved using a sniper scope on an assault rifle with a silencer that was switched to single-round fire, thus making a secondary makeshift sniper rifle). One thing I could not get over, however, was the durability of the nanosuit on North Korean soldiers at some points during the game. Where one or two rockets could completely deplete the energy in my suit to maintain maximum armor, the North Korean Nanosoldiers could take *at least 3* rockets before they died, leading to a slight inconsistency with the gameplay regarding the nanosuit. Despite all of that, along with some other aspects of the game (especially with the suit's energy depleting a little too quickly), the experience overall was great, with an engaging story, brilliant gameplay, good visuals, and a cliffhanger ending that keeps you wanting more from Nomad.

NOTE: I have written a review for Crysis 2 well before writing this one, so I'm already pissed off that Nomad was written off between the two games. As I've stated in that review, Crytek decided to throw out the human character by killing him off in a bridging comic book series (which has some of the worst writing I've seen) so they can focus on players connecting more to a friggin' AI in Crysis 2 (the so-called Nanosuit 2.0).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It always amazes me how different opinions can be for the same game. I understand people have different tastes, but a lot of things are objective. One reviewer even says he cannot understand how someone would not like this game. Really?

This game is so overrated by critics. What a surprise, huh? The average user review is considerably lower at 8.0. This seems fair to me. Apparently game reviews are now different than reviews for a lot of other products. You would think that common sense would dictate that if a game has quite a few flaws or inadequacies, that it would follow that it cannot have a perfect, or near perfect, score. According to MANY, this is not the case. For the people who think this is the best shooter they have ever played, I would like to know what kind of shooters you have been playing.

I am just going to list some of things that should detract from the overall score of the game.

    01. A LOT of bugs and absurd system requirements.
    02. Everyone says great graphics, but the character models are ugly.
    03. The videos are awful. A lot of the time it is hard to not just skip over them.
    04. Frequent nagging by the people giving you intelligence or asking for help. It just keeps repeating over and over. Also, the speech is often lagging behind what you are actually doing in the game.
    05. I know this is at least a partially subjective point, but the alien fighting is boring. The best parts of the game are when there are no aliens involved.
    06. The dialogue is weak, and that's being kind.
    07. The ending is BORING.

The best aspects of this game are the features of the suit you wear, the weapons, and the non alien game play. A good game overall, but has far too many flaws to be considered great.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The first half of the game was one of the best experience in my life when it comes to playing videogames. Crysis is one of the best shooters ever made, and one of my favorite FPS of all times. It allows the player to move around freely in quite large areas and to approach a target or fulfil a task with either guns blazin' or with a more stealthy approach. It looks fantastic, has great graphics and sound, and an okay to decent storyline. The gameplay mechanics, mainly shooting and use of the infamous nanosuit, are nearly flawless. However, I never very much liked fighting aliens in FPS, so the first half of the game is clearly my favorite half. The second part starts to feel a bit repetitive at some point. Also, the AI could have been smarter, and the (over)use of the nanosuit's cloaking system is kind of gamebreaking as it makes many parts of the game very easy to beat. Besides these two points, Crysis is highly recommendable to anyone who likes FPS. Expand

Crysis sets the bar for open-world FPS games, no doubt. The engine is awesome and the graphics have aged extremely well (while the AI has not). The successors to this game might have achieved better scores if they had stuck with the open-world style used in the first installment of the series. Some sections can get a bit tedious (travelling long distances without getting spotted can take time) and a few things are poorly designed. For example when the game script wants you to do a particular thing, like battle a helicopter or stay in a particular area to finish a task, the script will give super-human abilities to your enemy who will then spot you through walls, trees and mountains (Halflife 2 does this as well so it may just be a way game designers force the player to stay on track). But at the and of the day it is a pleasent game, and one I have enjoyed completing more than once. Expand

Yeah, you can choose the direction at which you approach a primary or secondary objective, but the game seems to nudge you along a linear path it has set out for you. The gameplay itself is fun (given the nanosuit's game mechanics) but the plot is slightly cliche' and unmemerable "shoot these guys, shoot these aliens, save the world". #obviously, the graphics are absolutely stunning. For the time, this game looked way ahead of its time and even now, it still holds up perfectly. Lighting is gorgeous and everything looks sharp.
The soundtrack is phenomenal and plays in game at the right times, really adding to the immersion during gameplay. Also, try listening in surround sound or with good headphones. You're welcome
I appreciated the open level design used in this game. I was satisfied as I freely roamed the luscious jungle themed levels as they looked absolutely gorgeous.
THERE IS ACTUAL DESTRUCTION PHYSICS!!!! AND YOU CAN THROW THINGS!!!!! HECK YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Cons:
The story isn't exactly the best story there is*
The gameplay is average at best. Shooting is alright but it doesn't feel as tight as I would expect from an FPS. Even though you have the nano-suit abilities, they didn't feel special or fast.

*because all you do is go in, find the hostages and OHMIGOSHALIENSARECOMINGQUICKKILLTHEMWHYISTHISEVENACONTHISISMORELIKEAWHATJUSTHAPPENEDBONUSFEATURETHISGAMEGETSANEXTRAPOINTFORSUDDENALIENZ

Overall, Crysis will forever be a benchmark in PC gaming in terms of graphics, however, the gameplay is average and the story was not anything special. I still recommend you pick it up to see how the graphics are on your PC and if u like throwing barrels, water bottles and pretty much everything at North Koreans......or aliens

Despite of this, you still get involved and still want to save the people close to you in the game. Gameplay is brilliant, you can play the game in whatever way you want to (depending on your skill-level...). The safest way is to use the cloak to its full potential. However, if you are more of the storming the base kind of guy, you also have the choice of taking this path and you can play a very fast-paced game (again it is you who pick the game-pace) but at your own risk given that (certainly on Delta difficulty) you will be tested severely. Despite the amazing graphics and physics (for its time), the gameplay mechanics are relatively simple, yet fun. If I had to complain about anything in particular, is the length of the campaign. I finished the game on Hard (without manual saves) in only 9 hours, according to Steam.

Expand

    Cons:

I find myself using a lot of time just running around to get to the next "checkpoint", and while the jungle looks amazing, it gets quite old quickly. The game's big gameplay apeal is the nanosuit. Now, don't be fooled by the amazing gameplay vides you've seen, because the actual game isn't that way at all. Al your powers are (greatly) limited by a power bar. Which means "Maximum Speed" only makes you sprint about 10 meters before running low, which in fact is worse than other games with a standard stamina bar for sprinting. The "Maximum Strength" is usually only used to get past certain obstacles that you either need to smash into pieces or make a super jump over. You would think it would be awesome to smash enemies in melee, but you walk terribly slow when you aren't using maximum speed. Some would say "hey just use speed to get to them and then switch to strength!" Yes, that sounds good on the paper, but in actuality it takes about a second t switch powers, and by the time you get to him, your power bar is low, so you cant punch him. The nanosuit was a great idea, but could be implemented a lot better. The shooting in the game also seems ankward. Most weapons are surprisingly unprecise and enemies can take a huge amount of bullets before dropping dead. The AI and physics system is also below standard. The enemies sometimes behave strangly and some times you'll get frustrating by the fact that they seem to be able to see and shoot you through vegatation - even from miles away. The first part of the game takes place in an ordinary jungle, but afterwards, we get enclosed in small, boring, uninspired corridors. The developers should really have deleted this part or reworked it. It was just not fun to play. When we get out agian, it's time for the frozen paradise, which Crytek hsa bragged about for months, and I have to say they had the right to brag. With all this said, Crysis isn't a terribly game. It's above the average shooter, but could easily become so much more with a few more months of development time, but EA is known for pushing deadlines before christmas. Expand

My reason is simple, the key component to a good FPS is the story line, and continual action packed game play. Although this game had plenty of action, the way it was delivered is the deepest disappointment, when I say disappointment I mean repetitive scenarios. Once you have completed one mission you have for the most part completed them all. Even with the occasional twist this still leaves the story lacking in luster. Early on the player gets the feeling that this game evolves around this elite soldier and his technologically advanced suit. That sounds exciting until you get further into the story and find out that the common enemy takes as much damage as you do, the only advantage this super suit from the future really gives you is the ability to heal, blend in with the environment, jump higher and run faster. That's fine and dandy but makes no difference when being chased by a gun ship and fighting off enemy's that just don't die. Some readers call that a challenge I call it the theft of re-playability that strangles the life out of the fun factor. Great physics and awesome graphics are the true structural integrity that holds this game together, with out these two crucial parts this game would have fallen apart miserably. You may wonder after bashing this game like I have, why would I give it a 7? Well anyone who knows video games and how much work goes into them would not be so quick to give them a bad rating. This game was well constructed besides the lack of good story not terrible just not good, and after the major hype put out by the publisher, I found that this game was a bit to mediocre. So a 7 I feel is just. Expand

The raw deathmatch mode (free for all) is actually one of the best FFA deathmatch experiences ever in FPS games and this was not realized in any reviews I read unfortunately. The weapons feel and work well. There are no show-stopping bugs but many slightly annoying small bugs. Unfortunately, raw DM gets tiresome for me after a while. A team DM mode and some other DM modes would be very welcome in the default game but very unfortunately were not included. The other multi-player mode, Power Struggle, is a nice attempt and works, however it feels incomplete. The biosuit I feel enhances both DM and Power Struggle. It does seem to drain quickly so that combining different suit functions doesn't work without good planning. There are no multiplayer squad functions like BF2/2142 and that is unfortunate. There are moments (like when the APC fires its missles!) when Crysis feels like a BF2 killer, but more often it feels that the Battlefield 2 series outshines Crysis where it counts in overall gameplay. The flying helicopter things look ugly and fly awkwardly but the other vehicles are nice. I like the vehicle/weapon/item purchasing system. The rain and weather effects are great. The explosions and sounds are great including the small nuke. The immersive, beautiful and reasonably large environments are welcome, unlike CoD4's tiny maps. Without a doubt, the primary focus of Crysis was the single player experience while multiplayer was not finished. They need to release a multiplayer expansion so very much because the direction they were headed is something I want - a Battlefield 2 killer. One of the important things for a online multiplayer FPS game is how it feels as it plays and Crysis feels responsive and reasonably smooth with minimal jerky movement of other players as they walk and move about the map (better in my opinion than CoD4 and TF2 but not as good as BF2 or BF2142). On a good server, your game won't play jerky or laggy. One nice touch is how if you try to rotate your tank turret it will bump into things if they block it - nice touch. I played it in DX9 mode, but not DX10 because of the high requirements (I have a nVidia 8800GTS 320MB with 3GB of RAM and both XP/Vista). While potentially the best online FPS of 2007, Crysis multiplayer is a bit of a disappointment because of bugs and its incompleteness. It made the holiday season release, but missed my favorite online FPS games list. That might change as patches and/or mods come out. Fingers crossed. I'm still hoping this game comes to fruition. This game was hyped a lot and I feel that the hype was not justified based on the overall multiplayer experience. If you like raw DM free-for-all, then Crysis delivers well. Expand

A beautiful and versatile game that can be played successfully using a variety of strategies from tank to sniper. A truly excellent game up until one specific, clearly definable, point. Then it just gets stupid. The storyline during the second half of Crysis, and especially the final battle, could have been copied verbatim from any alien invasion arcade side-scroller.

The nanosuit is innovative, but frustrating. The speed boost is perplexingly short and the inadequate amount of charge the suit has makes multitasking with the suit enhancements impossible. The disadvantages implemented for certain advantages are nonsensical. Silencing a weapon makes it ridiculously impotent and is hardly realistic. Running the game is a challenge as well, but the flexibility of the video settings can make for a playable mode for a decent system. For my FX55, 2GB RAM, 8800GTS I run at 1600x1200, no AA, all medium settings and manage only about 15-30 FPS. Running AA at any resolution greatly reduces the framerate. I was however frustrated at the hit detection or lack thereof as well as the huge amount force required to fall ones foe, ammo is scarce, demanding conservation however enemies are indeed very difficult to kill and in some cases seem to offer no resemblance to an actual human body sometimes taking what seems as an entire magazine of ammunition before falling to what seems like bleeding to death or starvation. On the other hand explosives offer what seems as an underpowered effect on enemies and overpowered effect on vehicles, it is reasonable to expect in this title to drop a grenade on a truck with enemy very close and expect a spectacular wreck and all of your enemy standing, multiple grenade types do not alleviate this concern because their very nature is unfitting to the game scheme, a flash bang in an open environment with enemies peppered on the map seems almost pointless other than to simply piss off all of the enemies outside the range of the weapon. It was one game that when it came out my computer had no hope of running it so I never played it. Now my computer is better and it's a 4 year old game...so it goes. The interesting thing about that is, this game STILL looks simply stunning 4 years later. I have played other games released in the last year that don't even come close to the beauty that Crysis displays. The environment is a character itself in this one. The plants move when you walk by, the water makes ripples when you step in it, there are grouse that run in little packs and move out of your way. The sun rises and sets sending rays of light and growing shadows, it FEELS cold when there is frost. It's that good. Visually stunning, still. And that is saying a lot in the world of four year old graphics. It has been a long time since a shooter grabbed my attention and made me not want to stop playing. A LOOONG TIME, like say HALO. Shooters too often are the same game with a different title (pick any war simulation on the market today, doesn't matter who makes it, same game). This one felt different. Because the environment mattered so much it changed the whole game. Plants make cover, walk too far forward and you are seen, too far back and you can't see. Shadows, lighting all affect the AI. These AI enemies actually act with and react to the environment. Need to get past a pack of bad guys but low on ammo? Toss a stick and they'll go see what it was. Crash a truck and they'll check it out and when they don't find you, they will act nervously, searching the area. It is some of the best AI in a shooter, even now four years later. Now, I'm not saying these guys are gonna win any intelligence awards, they're dumb AI. But some of the best dumb AI out there. Weapons are all unique and have their perks. Used properly all weapons are appropriately lethal. In the end this game was the whole package. Good story, great action, jaw dropping graphics, a shooter that actually rewards strategy and an environment that makes formulating one satisfying and fun. If you haven't played Crysis and want a good shooter, get this one. The game played bug free but did display a few graphical glitches that did not affect game play, just looked odd occasionally. EDIT : Game will not play completely on DX10, which it sets by default if your system is capable. It is necessary to force the game to play in DX9 in order to finish the game. 2 points removed from rating for this bug. Expand

All at the same time. That is what the vehicles feel like, but it's still a decent game and definitely worth buying it if you have the sort of computer to run it to at least justify that investment for it. Expand

Crysis is a blast to look at. Awesome graphics mixed with a big beautiful Island and some nice voice acting. But sadly it seems to stop there, as the story isn't strong enough to carry through to the end. The idea with the nano-suit is also fun for the first few times, but I quickly tired to try and sneak around and simply picked the larges gun there was to blast my way to the final boss.Crysis is a blast to look at. There was some minor glitches and bugs I ran into but none which were game-braking at any point. A good enough game if you're a fan of Far Cry 1. Expand

I only bought Crysis off Steam because it was £9.99 and I needed something to work my new hardware. Anyway, to the game itself: after fixing that issue about 3 days after buying it, I went into Crysis with some worry that it would just be a sightseeing tour with no other purpose than as a hardware benchmark. After getting into however, I found it to have interesting non-linear gameplay and tactical play thanks to your nanosuit. The way the nanosuit works is that you can direct suit power to several different abilities: speed, strength (improves throwing and jumping), armour and an invisibility cloak. These different traits as well as weapon attachments make combat varied and interesting. Bad bits? The story for starters; I know Crysis isn't exactly meant to be a masterful piece of arty writing, but I just find the story and characters to be weak and badly written. Cutscenes. Never have your character do things in cutscenes that you can do in gameplay. Visuals. This isn't really a negative in terms of engine power; because Crysis is a very good looking game, it's just that the art design is a bit bland and unimaginative. So to conclude; if you're looking for something like Far Cry, but with less frustrations and AI that isn't equipped with x-ray vision, then feel free to give Crytek your money, just don't expect much support from them. Really enjoyable but epically broken shooter. It's entirely possible to have the game miss a cue and you will never be able to move forward from there.

Stunning graphics and realistic combat are what shine in this game. However, nothing new in terms of gameplay. Fast-paced, but also very linear, therefore little opportunity for exploration. Also the player's character is too talkative in parts of the game. Overall, a good game if you're looking for a one-day playthrough filled with intense cinematic action.

Crysis was an alright game. I don't usually play FPS games, so although this game was new I enjoyed it. I noticed lots of reviews talking about how people just "Want to shoot stuff" and how they complain about aliens. Well honestly, if you are a mindless moron you wouldn't mind shooting at random stuff and humans. This game adds in compelling new gameplay and story. It seemed ratherCrysis was an alright game. Well honestly, if you are a mindless moron you wouldn't mind shooting at random stuff and humans. This game adds in compelling new gameplay and story. It seemed rather original, yet at the same time familiar. It played off a lot of cool things and most things a common person would think of during an alien attack, they thought of and put it in the game. The game's story was nice, and the voice acting is as expected; professional. If the characters didn't talk, I wouldn't be interested in this game. While the game seems overall good, it isn't the aliens being in the game that made it bad (If you don't want aliens and just want to shoot at other humans play COD and stop trying to play other games.). The real flaw of the game is how certain features are either glitched, broken, or un-balanced. When you play this game (Even on just normal mode) your nano suit is about as good as the Korean's bullet proof vest. 10 shots to their vest and they still stand, 10 shots to yours and you die (assuming you have maximum armor!). The FY71, which looked like an AK47, had next to perfect accuracy despite being a machine gun. And the vehicle controls are just terrible. But the vehicles can get damaged and that is actually shown, which is almost never seen on games these days. Now I'm sure if you've read all the review you have noticed I haven't commented on the graphics yet. That's because... Well graphics don't make the game, so it doesn't effect my rating, whether they are bad or good. Graphics are also pretty biased, the beauty of a game is in the eyes of the player. Anyways, if you don't like the concept of the game, go play something else, if seeing aliens in a game instantly decreases your rating of the game to 1, then stop reviewing games. Overall, it's an alright but VERY frustrating game. Expand

A beautiful looking game even after 5 years ....with an average plot. This sums the game up pretty nicely. At times it was exciting to play this all out action shooter..but other parts were a chore.

Destined to be a classic, Crysis is a creative and technological marvel that eclipses every other shooter released this year. [Holiday 2007, p.60]
  2. Crysis thrives on putting the onus on you to create your own brand of action and adventure in its stunningly beautiful locations. You and the game can haphazardly create moments of such gaming brilliance that often you pretty much have to stand up and applaud. [Christmas 2007, p.44]

This is some fast, well designed gameplay with enough options to allow players to use their own style of attack with satisfying suit abilities and weapons. Crytek has upped their attention to detail in presentation and dropped the worst parts of "Far Cry’s" story.
